Dragon Quest IX Side Quests

Where? When? Reward
Stornway Castle Village Available after you've both completed Side Quest #002 ("Pleased As Punch") and accepted King Schott's request to go to Loch Storn to slay the Wight Knight. Pray (party trick)

In-Game Description

"Ricki in the church in Stornway has asked you to egg her on with another party trick."

Ah Ricki. There's something seriously wrong with this girl. You remember Ricki of course, don't you? She's the girl you met in Stornway Castle Village's church when you first arrived in town. There, she implored you to undertake a side quest called "Pleased As Punch." The idea of this side quest was to hype her up to pray. Strange, but true. But your tasks during "Pleased As Punch," while performed satisfactorily, weren't enough to get her moving. When you speak to her again in the church following your conversation with King Schott (when you're asked to pursue the Wight Knight), she'll offer you another side quest.

The point of this side quest is to, once again, get Ricki hyped up to do some praying. She'll require you to use a party trick this time around, but in fact, you're going to need to execute four of them to fully satisfy the side quest's terms. Now, it's easy to get confused here. Ricki needs you to perform four moves in order: Pirouette, Clay, Jump, and Air Punch. The first move you learned from Ricki upon beating Side Quest #002, and the other three you know automatically. Go to "Misc." in your main menu, and go to Assign Party Tricks. Then, assign all four moves in that sequence to the bottom d-pad button. Don't assign one to each direction, as it won't work. Then, in real time next to Ricki, hold down B and press down on the d-pad. All four moves should be executed in order. For doing so, you'll receive another party trick from Ricki. This one's called Pray. Not too surprising.
