Rochester Hills Salvation Army thrift store to offer 25 percent off entire store on September 26...

Attention all fashionistas and collectors! The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center is rolling out the red carpet for its inaugural Event at Rochester set to take over the Rochester Hills thrift store from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26.

For one day only, shoppers will receive star treatment with 25 percent off all store departments. Plus, a selection of high-end collectibles as well as designer clothing and accessories will be showcased throughout the day. Designer goods, orange-tagged items and new mattresses are excluded from the 25 percent off sale. Light refreshments will also be offered until supplies run out.

“To add to the fun, our store employees will be dressed in evening gowns and suits, creating a gala-like atmosphere for the guests,” said Jillian Morey-Greer, assistant director of operations for The Salvation Army ARC. “This is our first sale like this, and we wanted to make it extra fun for everyone involved.”

Before the big event, customers may enter for a chance to win an exclusive sneak peek shopping pass valid for the day before the Event at Rochester. To enter, fans may visit TheSalArmyThrift.com Facebook page.

All proceeds from the Event at Rochester benefit The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center’s independently funded, 180-day residential rehabilitation programs for men and women.

SEE A FREE THEATER PERFORMANCE IN OCTOBER

Free Night of Theater 2010 is nationwide program offering tickets to a broad range of theater performances. The Free Night of Theatre program introduces people to the thrill of live theatre - absolutely free of charge! Participating theaters offers patrons one free night to encourage them to return in the future. Free Night is aimed at people who can (and do) become paying customers, while still successfully reaching groups that are currently under-represented in theatre audiences across the country.

Here is a highlight of the FREE activities you can do this weekend in the metro Detroit area and beyond:

On Friday, remember to go your local Sanders or Morley Candy Shop in Clinton Twp, Rochester, Birmingham, Eastpointe, Grosse Pointe, Wyandotte, Laurel Park Mall in Livonia, or 12 Oaks Mall in Novi to get your FREE 1/2 pound of Rich Chocolate Pecan Caramel Fudge. Go to your local Ikea for FREE breakfast this Saturday through Labor Day. This offer valid for one small breakfast (value 99 cents) and one cup of coffee (value 99 cents).  

On Saturday at 10am, get up and take the kids to your local Lowes for the FREE Lowes Build and Grow Kids Workshop so that the kids can build there on Race Car. Remember, you need to RSVP.

Also on Saturday, go to your local Michael's store with your kids to make a FREE beautiful vase of flowers card for someone special. This workshop runs from 10am to 1pm and is totally FREE while supplies last.

Labor Day is the last day to get 30% off at the Nesting Place in Milford. It's also the last day to get discounted Cedar Point Tickets for dates in June.
