FREE Audible book "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondo - ENDS 1/31

Get a FREE audiobook version of the New York Times bestseller by Marie Kondo, courtesy of Audible and Evernote...

It’s a new year, and it’s finally time to get rid of all the clutter in our lives and to start fresh. Your physical world is just as important as your digital one, so to kick off your year of organization, we’ve teamed up with Audible to offer you the New York Times bestseller The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo audiobook for free.

Marie Kondo’s no-nonsense approach to ending the clutter of your home comes from her years as a natural home organizer. She recognizes our need to hang on to keepsakes and memorabilia, the emotional desire to keep clothing and other items that we don’t even like, and the guilt we feel discarding gifts from others. She has the ability to help us reframe such thoughts to help us move forward in our organization goals. And yes, most of it is highly personal. Ms. Kondo encourages us to surround ourselves with things that bring us joy. She teaches us to treat objects as if they had feelings and to consider the feelings of friends and family as we de-clutter our lives.

Now, through January 31, 2017, residents of the US and Canada can get this book free from Audible and Evernote. There’s no purchase necessary, and you don’t have to be an Audible subscriber. If you don’t have an Audible account, you’ll be asked to create one, but you won’t be asked to subscribe, and you won’t need to enter a credit card number. Earn FREE Google Play Credits just for taking Short Surveys with the Google Opinions Rewards App

If you have an Android device and love FREE, you should get this app like right now...

For the past year,  My son and I have been using an app on our Android smartphones that earns us FREE Google credits for eBooks, games, magazines, and music.  Yes, you heard that right!

The app is called Google Opinion Rewards and by just answering quick 1-10 question surveys, my son and I have been rewarded with Google Play credits ranging from 10 cents to $1 per survey - HOLLA to the FREE!

Since this is my one year anniversary using the app, I thought I would use the "Reward History" feature on the app to find out how much credit I have earned to date.  And in one year, I have received over $65 in credits.  Now I know that $65 is not going to set the world on fire in terms of freebies, but that is great money for the little effort that it was taken to answer these short surveys.

So if you have an Android phone or tablet, make sure to download the Google Opinions Rewards app from the Google Play store so you can get FREE Google Play credits too.

Now I going to go and buy a few new songs in the Google Play store - for FREE :)

Enjoy!

GIVEAWAY: Chuck Gaidica's 2 Kids Books Help Raise Money for Grace Centers of Hope - ENDS 10/3 (CLOSED)

Detroit TV personality and kid's book author Chuck Gaidica donates 20,000 copies of his books to raise money for the homeless....

WDIV-TV 4 news reporter and former weatherman Chuck Gaidica has donated 20,000 copies of his books, Tommy Starts Something Big: Giving Cuddles with Kindness, and Cuddling is Like Chocolate, to help raise funds for Grace Centers of Hope. One of southeast Michigan’s oldest and largest homeless shelters, Grace Centers of Hope provides homeless and rehabilitation services for nearly 200 men, women and children on any given day.

“We are so blessed to have an ally like Chuck Gaidica who truly cares about making a difference in his own community,” said Pastor Kent W. Clark, CEO of Grace Centers of Hope. “Through his generous donation, we will be able to raise funds to help support the life-saving programs and services for the men, women and children who call Grace Centers of Hope home.”

Tommy Starts Something Big: Giving Cuddles with Kindness is a heartwarming children’s story about a young boy named Tommy who faced his own challenge in life by deciding to inspire others in their times of need. The book, which features beautiful watercolor illustrations by Mary Gregg Byrne, reminds children and adults about the positive change that can happen when people help people.

Gaidica penned Cuddling is Like Chocolate as a short book for adults to address the many health and wellness benefits of cuddling. It includes inspiring stories, cuddle facts and humorous illustrations by Jeff Covieo to encourage readers to reach out and cuddle with someone they love.

Gaidica is an Emmy Award–winning television and radio personality who created the phrase "Cuddle Alert" as a fun call to action during cold-weather outbreaks. The alert is a platonic reason to cuddle with somebody for warmth and much more: a healthful connection of two souls. Gaidica has spent years researching the connection between cuddling and wellness. As a former weather forecaster, Chuck has issued "Cuddle Alerts" on TV and radio for nearly 30 years.

"I am so happy to use my books to help touch and restore the lives of others,” said Gaidica. “My children's book encourages kids to think bigger than themselves to help other people. It's like I wrote a book about the mission of Grace Centers of Hope."

Grace Centers of Hope provides a comprehensive range of programs and services to help individuals and families overcome issues of homelessness, addiction, neglect, physical abuse, poverty and spiritual emptiness. One hundred percent of the nonprofit’s revenues are generated through private support, fundraising initiatives and its four thrift stores. Last year, Grace Centers of Hope provided more than 45,000 nights of stay for men, women and children who sought help from the nonprofit organization.

Tommy Starts Something Big: Giving Cuddles with Kindness and Cuddling is Like Chocolate can be purchased throughout the year at all Grace Centers of Hope Thrift Store locations:

- 23105 Coolidge Hwy., Oak Park
- 43584 Van Dyke, Sterling Heights
- 26740 Dequindre Rd., Warren

EDUCATION: Textbook Rentals can save College Students (and their parents) some serious Money

Disclosure: I was compensated for my time to learn more about CampusBookRentals.com.  All opinions are my own.

My son's not a baby anymore...
It feels like only yesterday when my son graduated from kindergarten...

In one month's time, my son will graduate from middle school - and I am trying to figure out where all the time went. It feels like one day he was just a preschooler and now he will be starting high school in the fall.  The time is going so fast that it is hard to believe the photo above of him graduating from Kindergarten was taken 8 years ago - I feel so old.

And now that high school is on the horizon, all I can think about is that I have four years to figure out how to finance my son's college education and research scholarships and grants to help defer some of the cost. Both my sister and I received full ride scholarships to college (much to the delight of my parents) and I am hoping that my son can do the same - pray for us :)

But one thing that a scholarship will not pay for is textbooks. Back in the day, my parents laid out a small fortune each semester for my books and boy did my mom complain about the cost. But now students have more options for acquiring textbooks - including the option to rent them.

Since everyone can rent cars, designer handbags, and even wedding dresses, it makes perfect sense that students can now rent their textbooks. And companies like CampusBookRentals.com are making it easy for students to rent textbooks with perks that include -

-Saving 40-90% off of bookstore prices
-Free shipping both ways
-Ability to highlight in the textbooks
-Flexible renting periods

Watch the video below to find out how renting textbooks work -

CampusBookRentals.com also has a new program called RentBack (www.RentBack.com), which allows students to rent the textbooks they own to other students which could generate two to four times more money compared to what they'd make through buyback options.

So while I begin to research financial options to pay for my son's college education, it is good to know I also have options to pay for my son's college textbooks that can leave a few more dollars in the bank to finance my retirement :)

DEAL: Don't miss Bookstock - Metro Detroit’s Biggest & Best Used Book Sale 4/27 - 5/4 LIVONIA

I was selected for this sponsored post by Hay There Social Media. All opinions expressed are my own.

Get your bargain book shopping on at Bookstock!

Books and reading are very important with my family.  When I was a kid, I would go weekly to the library with my sisters and we would stay for hours reading books and then checking out more books to take home.

Though I grew up and went into the technology field, one of my sisters went into library science and the other into secondary education. So when my son was born, my book loving librarian and school teacher sisters made sure my son's bedroom was filled with enough books to rival any library!  To this day, my son's favorite thing to do (outside of playing video games) to to read books and I sure that is because he was surrounded by them from birth.

My sisters' present of hundreds of baby, toddler, and elementary school level books was the perfect gift since books are not cheap, but they are the gift that keeps on giving for a lifetime.   But for those who don't have generous book giving relatives like I do, you need to check out an annual, non-profit used book and media sale that starts on Sunday called Bookstock.
