MIX 'N' MATCH MINI ALBUM | with Traci

I love making handmade gifts that come together quickly and are fun to put together. Today, I'm sharing a sweet mini album that I created for a friend.  Let's see how many Doodlebug collections I used in this little book!
For the cover, I used the adorable gingham check paper and bird die cut from Simply Spring. The "Friend" title and heart banner are from the Hello collection, and the sun die cut came from the Iđź’—Travel line.
How cute is that little butterfly?  He was part of the Spring Things Odds & Ends. I think that's 4 collections so far!
Ready?  That precious yellow heart paper is from So Punny, and what project would be complete without some floral Petite Prints!  We're up to 6!
The cute little "Hello Lady" card and "Bloomin' Bugs" paper were also from the Simply Spring line.
See the floral paper on the pocket?  That one's from Bunnyville!
And finally, the jellybean plaid above is from Hoppy Easter! I used 8 different collections in this little mini!  That's one of my favorite things about Doodlebug ... my older collections will always match the new ones.  Well, that and sprinkles, of course!
If you'd like to make this cute little album, I'll have a few kits available for purchase in my Artsy Albums shop today.  Thanks for letting me share it with you!  I hope I've inspired you to use all of your Doodlebug collections together!

MULTIPLE COLLECTIONS = ONE ADORABLE 3D TYPEWRITER | with Jennifer

Recently someone asked me if I had ever made a paper crafted typewriter. I told them I hadn't, but it had been on my "to do" list for quite some time. Well, since the design team and I were given a free month to create whatever we wanted, I thought now would be a perfect time.

This cute Doodle pop sticker from the So Punny collection was my inspiration and here's what I came up with.

Below you can see a few pictures of the piece coming together.
  • After framing out the main shape of the typewriter with foam board, the piece was covered with layers of chipboard.
  • Wood wheels, a dowel, two mini spools, and cardboard tube were used to create the carriage.  The handle on the left is an Allen wrench wrapped with patterned paper.
  • For the keys, layers of chipboard circles were used.
Here are some close ups of the finished typewriter.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy crafting! :)

Combining Collections for a Fun Layout | with Virginia

Imagine a hot sunny day with kiddos splashing in the pool, the adults too busy chatting to notice the overdone burgers on the grill and then throw in a couple of pooches running around stealing and hiding the kid's toys.  So much going on and yet time held still for a few seconds to record the love between a girl and her dog.
This layout came together very easily because much of it was already done!  No, I didn't get a visit from the scrapbooking fairy, LOL (although sometimes I wish one would!).  Remember those photo props and the chit chat tags I previously made?  I re-used them and created a simple grid design to highlight the photo on my page. So, the whole layout came together using several techniques a combination of the Sweet Summer, Hello and So Punny collection.

For an extra 3D fun effect I layered my photo to give it that extra oomph.  This is done by printing out your photo in the same size 3 times, just trim away 1/8" on all sides each time as you build up to the 3rd layer.

Chit Chat Tags | with Virginia

Let's not have idle conversation about Chit Chats, instead let's give a whopping loud shout out to them!  Today I'm going to share some tags using Chit Chats from each of the So Punny, Down on the Farm, Hello and Sweet Summer collections.  I added a variety of machine stitching techniques to the tags for a little more dimension.
The first tag showcases beautiful gold foiled elements from the Hello line.  I machine stitched across the top part of the tag and intentionally left the ends uncut for some random whimsy.

From the Sweet Summer collection, here is a fun birthday tag. I stitched around the speech bubble to highlight the main message of the tag.

Who can resist pairing up Chit Chats with Doodle-pops?  Not me!!

The last tag highlights some awesome puns from the So Puny line!

Hope this inspires you to reach for some Chit Chats on your next project(s), they are so addictive!

Embellishing Focus | Flip Book by Nathalie

Inspired by the Pun Pal patterned paper from the So Punny collection, I decided to make my very first  flip book destined to be mailed to a crafty pal:
All the papers used to build this book are from the 6x6 So Punny paper pad so the closed book, as seen above, measures 6x6 inches. On the cover, I layered a mini doily and a cut-out (also from the paper pad). I embellished with some of my favorite Sprinkles: the So Punny Tiny Hearts!

Let's open the first part:
The book is meant to be fun to open, unfold and flip through so it has interactive parts that are hard to see with photos. For this reason, you will find a quick video at the bottom to better show you the moving parts. On the left page, I created a pocket and a tag on which I have attached a Doodle Pop package (using a tiny clip so it can easily be removed). Die-cuts are from the Chit Chat pack. The right page as a card from the So Punny Create-A-Card pack. I have used several throughout the book... How cute are those shaped Sprinkles on top of it?!
By opening another flap, you find a card to flip open to read a note (embellished with more of my favorite Tiny Hearts) and a pocket decorated with different washi tapes and Glitter Sprinkles. I put a Jelly Clip on top to go with the soda theme of this flap.
Now here is a look at the book fully open:
I adhered an open envelope in the center part and inside is a card holding goodies and a washi tape sampler, all attached with a Doodlebug clothespin. On the front, I added a bigger doily, die-cuts and other favorites: matte Sprinkles (from the Cream & Sugar collection). They look like candy!
On the bottom flap is a treat bag filled with yellow doilies that I attached with a Cute Clip. The whole book is tied together with some red and white Chunky Twine.
Now take a look at the quick video:

I had so much fun creating this project and if you have any questions about it, do not hesitate to reach out to me here in the comment or on Instagram.

Embellishing Focus | Traveller's Notebook by Caroli

Traveller's notebooks have been something I've admired from afar but always wanted to attempt. So, this project is important for several reasons: first, it's the first time I've documented a trip on the go. I was afraid of not being able to accomplish it (I am a complete fail at daily documentation) but I worked nightly during the trip and also used airport waiting time and even on the plane to work on it.
Second, this project documents the wonderful trip I made last month when I went to Costa Rica to teach a scrapbook class. It was the first time I taught a class out of my country and had such a blast, certainly it is a memory I wanted to document on the go so I didn't miss any of the important details.
I don't know if there are rules for making a TNB, but in my case I used it like a diary, where I wrote my feelings during this trip and also documented all the things I made. In this page I also wrote some goals for the trip.

I used So Punny collection for the class I taught, and my sweet friend and the woman behind the event, Elvira, ordered some stinking cute cookies featuring the typewriter and sewing machine icon of the collection, how cute is that!! Of course I documented it :)

After the class I had the joy of spending some more days in the country enjoying its wonderful beaches and wildlife, I loved how I was able to document all these great memories.

In this page I used a tiny envelope to add a few more pics and memorabilia which I held into place with another Jelly Clip because it was too adorable not to use.
These two photos are so silly bt I loved them! When my friend Elvira told me about all the wildlife in the park I got the idea that I needed to take some selfies with as many animals as possible (yeah, I'm that crazy!). I was lucky enough to score a selfie with a monkey and one with an iguana, it was so much fun!

This certainly was a memorable trip and I am so glad I was able to documented it on the go, because I  wrote all my feelings and ideas at the exact moment they were happening :) I hope you liked this idea and give it a try maybe on a future trip, if I could, you can! See you on a next post, hugs!
