LOTS OF LOVE ENVELOPE TREAT BOXES | with Kathy

Happy almost Valentine's Day!  I love to make and fill treat holders for friends and family (and being able to eat the practice treats is a bonus of course....).  I used the Lots of Love Collection and some Lots of Love SVG files to create these fun little envelope boxes.  Take a peek....

The little envelope icons in the Lots of Love Odds & Ends are the cutest, and designed my boxes to look just like them!  I started with this cute little Envelope Slide Box SVG from Lori Whitlock.  For the "faces" I used a couple of cut files from the Lots of Love SVG Collection.  For the first box, I used the Lots of Love Rainbow Envelope file and resized it to fit the front of the envelope box.  I used both 12x12 and 6x6 papers to create the box and slide cover.

To "top" it off I used the cute little birdie sticker from the Icons Sticker Sheet, and added some Bubblegum glitter sprinkles for the cheeks.

I used the Lots of Love Hearts Envelope SVG for my second box.  Again I resized the file to fit the front of the box. I cut the hearts from the 6x6 pad and some petite prints.  I love how they pop out of the envelope!

The finished boxes measure about 2.5" w x 3" h x 2" d... perfect to hold a bunch of Kisses or chocolate hearts!  That's it for me today, I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day!  Thanks for stopping by to peek!

MY HAPPY PLACE SUCCULENTS | with Karen

The last time I was crafting with the adorable "My Happy Place" collection, I was slightly obsessed with the adorable plant stamps in the Garden Girl set. In fact, I was so obsessed that I decided I really wanted some plants for my happy place - my crafting corner. So I grabbed the collection, picked up a couple of cut files from the Lori Whitlock store and got crafty!

Plants-2

Voila - the perfect cut plants that don't even need water to stay smiling! I used the 12x12 patterned paper from the collection for the pots and some of Doodlebug's amazing textured cardstock for the plants. To create their little faces, I simply used some of the black Sprinkles from the "In the Garden" Shape Sprinkles for eyes, some pink Sprinkles for the cheeks and then drew on the mouth. I topped of the cactus with two flowers layered together from the Bits and Pieces pack.

Plants-closeup-1

Yup, this little ray of sunshine can smile at me all day. But here's the fun thing - if you are looking for something a little less cute and a little more sophisticated (don't worry, I won't tell this cutie)...

Plants-1

The Shape Sprinkles make the perfect embellishment instead! I went for a monochromatic look, simply choosing the sprinkle shapes that coordinated. And if you are like me and can't decide which style works best, do one style on one side of the pot and one on the other side like I did!

I can't wait to put together my new My Happy Place Shadow Box insert to go with this little trio! I think I know what I might be working on this week! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

HIPPITY HOPPITY BUNNY TREAT CUPS | with Karen

Easter is this week and it is a small miracle that there are still Easter chocolate treats in my house. Usually by now I have restocked at least once! I blame Doodlebug completely - their Easter collections are always so darn cute that I find myself using them this time of year to make all kinds of cute treat containers. And if you are making treat containers, one must take out the treats to make sure they work in the creations. And then one must sample the goods to make sure they are worthy of the cute treat containers. I know you know what I am talking about!

So for this week's project, I actually grabbed the Hippity Hoppity 12x12 papers and teamed them up with a darling Doodlebug cut file you can find at the Lori Whitlock store (Hoppy Easter - Bunny 3- link below).

While this is a flat file, I figured I could turn it into a cute 3d treat box with just a little effort. Here are some tips if you would like to try it too:

Tutorial-1

When you cut the file, cut an extra copy of the pot shapes. One will create the front of the treat box and the other will go on the back to make the treat container look a little more finished from the back. I also only glue around the edge of the back pot so I can add a little note into it as well.

Cut a strip of paper 1.5" wide and the length of your 12x12 paper. Score 1/4" from each long edge. This will create the side panel for your pot - the piece you need to create to turn this from a flat cut file to a 3D shape. Cut up along the long edge of the paper to the score line. Then use these tabs to secure the side panel to the front pot first...

Tutorial-2

...and then onto the large white cutout of the rabbit to close the shape. Trim off the excess. I printed the cut file at about 5.5" wide and needed about the same in length for the side panels. Add the second cutout of the pot to the back and then add the details.

All-3-1

I also modified the size of the flowers in the cut fil by making one larger just for a bit of a different look. Fill up your treat containers and you are all set to go.

Side-view

Here's a side view so you can see the 1.5" side panel in action.

I really love how these turned out! I think I need to go check out the other Doodlebug cut files to see if I can modify them in this way as well - if the treats last that long, that is!  Thanks for stopping by!

CUTE & CRAFTY CRAFT CADDIE MINI ALBUM | with Kathy

I love all sorts of mini albums.  Traditional and non-traditional, so when I saw the adorable Craft Caddie from the Cute & Crafty cut files  I started thinking that a 3D caddie would make an adorable mini!  I set to work making an actual tote, and filled it with "cards" that are actually scrapbook pages!  Take a peek...

It's along the idea of a "recipe box" type album... a tote which holds the different pages.  I added some of the fun tools from the Odds & Ends to the tops of the pages so they stick up like an actual tool tote!  Of course, my tool tote is not nearly this neat or this cute!

The base of the box uses the Cute & Crafty Craft Caddie SVG.  I sandwiched a couple of small boxes between the layers to hold the pages.  I added the scissors, craft blade and rub-on tool from the Odds & Ends to the side pockets.  All that was left was to create some pages!

Cute & Crafty has so many fun embellishments, it's hard to decide which ones to use!  I started with these pages, but there is definitely room for more!

I can't wait for my next in person crop!  I plan on taking LOTS of photos with friends to fill this little tote.  Have you made any projects using the Cute & Crafty Collection?  Be sure to tag @doodlebugdesign on Facebook & Instagram.  We LOVE to see your creations!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek.

CUTE & CRAFTY SHAPED MINI ALBUM | with Traci

Hi everyone!  I have another fun project to share with you using the adorable Cute and Crafty collection.  This time, I used one of the cutting files from the collection (Craft Caddy) and created a mini album with the design.

I started with the cutting file, which I got in Lori Whitlock's SVG shop here.  I sized the file to approximately 7" wide and created an offset of the base piece (the one with the scissors attached) to create my cover and base pages.

I had to change up one part of my caddie after I accidentally messed up the craft knife on the design.  No worries, I just trimmed the craft knife off with scissors and used a cute roll of twine from the odds & ends in its place.  How cute is that tiny epoxy sprinkle of Doodlebug sprinkles ❤️ ?!

I used all 12x12 pattern papers to cover my base pages.  That washi tape paper above might be my favorite pattern in this collection.  Love the colors and how the tape looks transparent!

The Bits & Pieces are a new product released with this collection.  The flowers above, and the journaling card below, all came from the pack.  Cute right?!  There are flowers, tags, journaling spots, tabs, and lots of super cute pieces for your projects.

I used a lot of shaped sprinkles throughout this album.  The mini hearts above are a favorite, and I also love the new "Cute As a Button" (below) and Cute & Crafty shapes.

I like how the This & That sheet always has cute word stickers.  They work perfectly for little tabs above my photos!  Once my pages were all complete, I used my We R Memory Keepers Cinch tool to punch binding holes and add binding wire.

I LOVE shaped mini albums and hope that my project has inspired you to play with cutting files in different ways.  I use the Silhouette Cameo, but there are lots of machines out there that work with svg files (and LOTS of cute Doodlebug cutting files to inspire you).   Have a great one everybody ... and if you need any product links you are always welcome to visit me over at Artsy Albums!

CUTE & CRAFTY SHAPED MINI ALBUM | with Kathy

One of my favorite activities is scrapping with friends.  Over the past year plus, I've missed being able to get together for fun weekend crops and seeing my scrappy buddies!  One of my favorites, the Crop on the Cape had to be cancelled the last 2 years... so I'm more than excited for 2022!  When I saw all the cuteness in the Cute & Crafty Collection, I decided to make a mini album so that I'd be all set to document what is guaranteed to be a fabulous time!

I started with the Cute & Crafty - Instagram Camera cut file from the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop as the base of my mini.  For the lens, I created a fun shaker filled with Doodlebug Sequins!

I love how the SVG file had a photo coming from the camera, so I decided to create a slider for my album cover.  On the little photo that slides out I added my album title using some My Type Alphas. Once I had the cover done, I set to work decorating the different pages.

There are so many embellishments in this collection!  I picked my favorites from the Chit Chats, Bits & Pieces, the Odds & Ends, Icon Stickers, This & That Stickers and the mini icons to decorate the pages.  Oh and don't forget the adorable shaped sprinkles!  Here are some close ups...

Once I was all done with the pages, I bound my album using my Cinch Mini.  I cannot wait to get to the crop and take photos!  Have you made any projects using the new Cute & Crafty Collection?  Don't forget to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook & Instagram.  We love to see what you create!  That's it for me today, thank you for stopping by to peek!

HIPPITY HOPPITY BOX CARDS | with Kathy

Are you ready???  I have some REALLY fun news to share...  the Doodlebug Hippity Hoppity SVG files will be available starting tomorrow in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop and they are ADORABLE!!! (They will also be submitted to the Silhouette Store)  I was lucky enough to get a sneaky peek of the files, and used a couple of them to make some fun box cards.  Take a peek...

I'm going to be honest, it took me a good hour to decide which files to use... they are all so fun!  But in the end, the Bunny in Bucket and Carrot Car files won out!  I just love converting Doodlebug's SVG files from flat to 3D!  If you'd like to see how I do it, I did a tutorial a few years ago giving general instructions for how I convert a file.  You can find that tutorial here.

I started with the bunny in the bucket... that little cottontail sticking up in the air just won me over!  I used the purple side of the Hippity Hoppity paper for my bucket and trimmed it with some Woodgrain Petite Prints.  I cut the little bunny bottom from some petite prints and used the pink check side of the Easter Egg Stripe Paper for the little paw pads.  I embellished the file with some Odds & ends pieces and a glitter sprinkle for the pail handle.

Ok, how ridiculously cute is the little bunny driving a carrot car??  I mean... really...  I used the carrot side of the Mr. Cottontail paper for the body of his car and the grassy side of the Baby Carrots paper for the carrot top.  The rest was pieced using some coordinating petite prints.  I love how easy it is to find papers to match throughout all of Doodlebug's collections!  I finished off the car with some mini jewels on the tires, a chit chat piece and a carrot sprinkle from the Hippity Hoppity Shaped Sprinkles.

If you make something with the Hippity Hoppity Collection and/or Cut files, be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram.  We love to see what our fans create!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!
