Yankee Doodle Collection: Independence Day in Chile by Caroli Schulz

Hello! Caroli here and today I want to show you these two layouts I made using awesome Yankee Doodle collection.

I must say I'm glad that patriotic color of USA are the same as the colors of my country, Chile. This way, I can use this patriotic collection to scrap my own patriotic memories as well, how cool is that?!

I love that this collection included flowers, in addition to traditional patriotic icons such as stars. Our independence day down here occurs during spring, so the flowers come very handy.

The first layout I made features my little girl when she was just 2 years old, she's wearing a traditional Chilean outfit called "huasita", thus the title. My mom sew her the dress and she was so proud and looked so cute too! Here's the layout:

I machine-stitched the title and left some thread loose just to add a funnier touch, it's messy but in a controlled way, haha!

Love all the silver metallic details on the paper and embellies, it really looks gorgeous in real life, pics dont really catch the effect properly. Love the clear acetate embellies on the Odds&Emds package as well, a bit of transparency will be always a great idea!

My second layout also features my little girl, but this time eating one traditional food called "anticucho", which basically are meat brochettes. She was so excited of eating them for the first time so it was a great memory to scrap. Here is my layout:

I love all patterns in this collection, I used the 6x6 inches pad for filling the letters I used as title, tiny patterns are so cute!

Love all the sprinkles Doodlebug makes and the ones of  this collection are so cute, don't you just love the super tiny dots?

Something I love about sprinkles is that you can use them on teh "i" of a title, and they are matte!

I hope you liked these layouts and get some inspiration to scrap your patriotic memories as well. Have a lovely day!

Pinterest Inspired Challenge: From Wall Decor to Layout by Caroli

Hello there! How's everything? Today I want to share a new project made with colorful Doodlebug goodness :)

This month, the design team were challenged to create a project using Pinterest as inspiration. In my case, it was super hard to decide because I'm such a big Pinterest enthusiast! I keep on pinning stuff here and there all the time, so I had a lot to choose from.

Finally, I used these two images as inspiration for my layout:

And here sis my project, of course a layout!

Of course the turquoise background on the image caught my eye inmediately, I love turquoise color to bits, so I chose a cardstock in that color as my base.

I love grid design and I got inspired by all those pretty frames on the wall to create some kind of grid on my layout.

I used beautiful patterned papers and embellies from Spring Things collection, love the colors and happy feeling of this collection.

I used a mix of different alphas on my title to make it funnier and more interesting, silver alpha is one of my faves these days!

I took the pic I used last summer while we were on vacation, my kids fell asleep early after so much pool fun and I took that opportunity to have some rest myself as well, but first I snapped a quick shot.

It is unbelievable how time flies, one day you have a baby and next day it's all grown up and knows how to write and use a computer... I'm kinda nostalgic these days, trying to treasure all this little kids moments while they last, and certainly this layout documents this feeling.

I put my layout in a special corner of my scraproom, I love how it looks there!

I hope you like this idea and inspiration behind this layout, I certainly love the meaning it has, one more treasure for my scrapbooks!

Have an awesome day, big hugs!

Hats Off Collection: Graduation Layout by Caroli

Hello my dear Doodlebug friends, how are you today? As for me, I'm super excited to share the projects I've made using Hats Off collection. I have these pics  since I graduated from college, 15 years ago (I'm old!!!) and never scrapped them because never found the appropriate collection to do it so.... until Doodlebug geniouses came up with this and I knew the moment to undust my old grad pics.

I dont have too many pics and most of them wew taken with an analog camera, (yes, I AM THAT OLD! LOL!)   so I scanned my pics and printed in a more convenient size to use them on my pages.

I love the shades of black, white and silver of this collection, it's really beautiful and very adult at the same time. I combined it with some blue basics to match the colors of my Alma Mater.

In my first layout I used some layers and round pics, I love the cute graduated owls included on the Odds & Ends package.

I also love the clear acetate elements included, I used some here and there as well.

Don't you just love all the silver in this collection? In general I love metallic details on paper and embellies and this collection really rocked that.

For my second layout I usedmy fave grad pic, I look so serious and formal receiving my award, so proud as well.

I created some kind of embellishments cascade and used a lot of elements from the odds & Ends package, sprinkles, and also some ink splatters.  Again, the little graduated owl was my chosen embellie, how cute is that!

I created my title using a phrase from the Odds& Ends package and letter from the blue Teempsy Type Alpha.

I really had a lot of fun working in these layouts, this collection is really different from regular Doodlebug Design items and I LOVED it! Also i had a good laugh with my little girl showing her my graduated pics, she just thought I looked ridiculously funny in my cap and gown, LOL!

I hope you got some imspiration from my layouts and decide to scrap your graduartion pics as well, it's a beautiful excersise to remember good old days, isn't it?

Have a wonderful day!

At the Zoo Collection: Animal Kingdom Mini Album by Caroli

Hello there Doodlebug peeps!  Caroli here and today I want to share my fave kind of project: mini albums!  I love mini albums because they allow me to use lots of pics and also lots of embellishments and pretty paper.

Two years ago I had the chance to visit Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World and it was an awesome experience for me and my little girl. I took a ton of beautiful pics but didn't find the perfect collection to scrap them... until my friends from Doodlebug Design launched At The Zoo collection. When I saw this fabulous line I knew it was a wise decition to wait, it's simply perfect!

I had a lot of fun working on this mini, and more important, I had a lot of fun remembering all the good times I spent with my daughter and our friends that day.  No more talking and here is my minialbum, love how it came out!

I used a simple ring binding because I wanted to have a lot of pages and pics in this mini, so I used my Bind-It-All for putting it together.

As in all my minis, I used some vellum pages where I printed some journaling, I love the transparency effect of these pages.

Some pics were too big and didn't fit the size of the pages of the mini so I cut them in two and join them back with some washi tape, thus I can fold it and make it fit in the mini.

I hope liked this post and get some inspiration to use this fabulous At The Zoo collection. I really loved the results, this is one of my fave minis so far!

Thanks for stopping by today, have a great day!

Dragon Tails Collection: Tri-Fold Card by Caroli

Hello dear Doodlebug friends, how are you today? It's Caroli and I am so glad to be here again sharing a simple idea for creating a fun tri-fold birthday card using gorgeous Dragon Tails collection.

The procedure for making this car is super simple; first, you'll need a sheet of cardstock (I used Coordinating Cardstock Blue Jean color by DD) and score them every 10 cm, dividing the shee in 3 sections, just like in the pic.

Next, you'll fold the cardstock through the scored lines and form the base for the card. In order to make them more intweresting you will cut the paper in diagonal just like in the pic, leaving 15 cm. in the short part and 25 cm. in the long one.

After that the base will look like this. Now it's ready to be decorated!

For decorating the base you can glue some patterned paper to it, I used these with tiny pattern so it wont look too busy along with the embellishments, in cases like this is very practical to use the 6x6 inches pad.

Finally you can add some diecuts from the Odds & Ends package, some shape or dot sprinkles, anything you want to embellish your card.

This is how my card finally came out. As yopu can see, it was super easy and the result is great. You have plenty of space for writing or even for including some pics! I think this could be a great  option for a group greeting because evryone would have a lot of space for writing a little note...

I love the colorful and happy feel of this collection, and decided to make a cute packaging for a special gift I am working on.

I used PINK BALLOON and ORANGE BALLOON cutfiles for decorating my bag. The procedure was super simple: first I cut three balloons in patterned paper from Fairy Tales collection and used some foam dots to add volume and adhered them to a plain white paper bag.  I decorated some of the balloons with pieces from the Odds & Ends package and some heart shaped sprinkles.

I tied the balloons with some twine and used some more diecuts to complete the decoration.

This is how the bag loosk like, it's ready to be used and carry a gift for a special little girl I know :)
