10 Cool Things To Do at Disneyland Resort This Summer

The school year is over, the weather is amazing, and everyone is enjoying their summer. Our favorite local destination to spend a summer day is at the Disneyland Resort! Whether we are going to Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park there are so many cool things to do this summer! This year it's the 60th Diamond Anniversary Celebration (Disneyland opened July 17, 1955) so there is even more magic then usual. Not to worry, we've got you covered with this list of the coolest things to experience this season at the Disneyland Resort!

5 MUST DO'S AT DISNEYLAND PARK
1. Paint the Night Parade
The coolest thing since Main Street Electrical Parade! Fantastic shimmering floats and your favorite Disney characters are all lit up in neon lights parading down Main Street U.S.A. are sure to have you and your little ones dancing in your seats!

2. Matterhorn Bobsleds
There's a new Yeti in town and he's been thrilling guests ever since the Matterhorn has been reopened (just in time for summer) after a major refurbishment. He's bigger, he's scarier and he's sure to start your summer off with a fright!

3. Disneyland Forever Fireworks
Look to the skies above for the most spectacular fireworks show yet! When the summer sun goes down things will heat up as the newest Disneyland fireworks amaze guests in this special 60th anniversary tribute to the magic.

4. Splash Mountain
Find your laughing place this summer while you float along a stream in the ultimate log ride. It's the perfect cool-down attraction when the summer heats up.

5. Haunted Mansion
Who says the haunts only come out at Halloween time. Summer is the perfect time to visit with the ghouls and goblins of Disneyland. A nice dark, cool attraction to escape the summer sun. A very special guest ghost has returned to spook summer visitors. Will you recognize him or figure out what's in the box? And always beware of hitchhiking ghosts.

5 MUST DO'S AT DISNEY CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE PARK
1. World of Color - Celebrate!
There's an all new version of our favorite Disney California Adventure show with new host Neil Patrick Harris and special footage of Walt Disney and the mouse who started it all. Water, fire, music, magic, fountains that dance to a laser lightshow it's truly incredible!

2. Meet Anna & Elsa from Frozen
We're pretty sure that meeting the sisters from Frozen are on everyone's Summer Bucket List. You can check it off if yours when you head to Hollywood Land for a royal meet and greet with everyone's favorite sisters! Plus if you want to learn to draw a snowman go to the Royal Academy right next door, where a Disney artist will teach you how!

3. Cars Land at Night
We actually recommend seeing Cars Land during the day AND at night. (2 totally different experiences.) But when the sun goes down, it's a neon dream. Cruise down the famous Route 66 with your family and friends, you will feel like you've been transplanted to Radiator Springs in the Disney Pixar movie Cars. "Life is a Highway..."

4. Grizzly River Run
This ride is a true family classic. It will have you laughing and screaming while you float down the roaring rapids at Disney California Adventure. You will get wet, but isn't that what makes summer at a theme park fun... water rides!

5. Diamond Mad T Party
Back by popular demand! This time it's the Diamond Anniversary version of the original party, a more glitzy and glamorous trip down the rabbit hole.  The Mad T Party Band will have you rocking, singing, and dancing to your favorite songs! Enjoy this one-of-a-kind concert put on by Alice, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit DJ, and all of your favorite characters from Wonderland. Don't forget to grab a glowing drink while you're there! Cheers!

We hope you enjoy your visit this summer to the Disneyland Resort!
Tell us what your favorite thing to do during the summertime at Disneyland and California Adventure. We'd love to know!

Taste of Downtown Disney 2014: A Delicious Recap #CHOCwalk

How often do you get to eat and drink your way through Downtown Disney with friends, while supporting an amazing cause at the same time? Last week we did just that! For the first time, we attended the 7th Annual Taste of Downtown Disney. This incredible night serves as a kick off to the CHOC Children’s Foundation’s annual fundraising drive surrounding the CHOC Walk in the Park.

We had a delightful evening savoring the flavors of the following restaurants:
Catal Restaurant and UVA Bar
Tortilla Jo's
Naples Ristorante E Pizzeria
ESPN Zone
Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen
House of Blues
Jamba Juice
La Brea Bakery
Wonderground Gallery

All guests were broken up into groups, where we each had a different route for the evening. We went from restaurant to restaurant where the drinks kept flowing, the food and appetizers were being passed  around like crazy - our kind of party! We rarely hang out in the Downtown Disney District, so this was really a unique experience. This would be the ultimate date night or girls night out, we think it's perfect for spending time catching up with family. We made a video to capture what a great event this was. If you've never been, you should definitely think about going next year. It was truly a night to remember!

More than just a fun night out on the town, proceeds benefit CHOC Children's

This year, the CHOC Walk in the Park will be held on October 12, 2014. The 2014 walk covers three miles through Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park where “CHOC Walkers” get a special peek behind the magic before the parks open to the general public. At the end of the 5K walk, the event continues in the resort’s Downtown Disney District where event sponsors, hospital support groups, shops and restaurants have special offers for Walk participants.

In order to help CHOC reach its goal of providing quality healthcare to the region’s two million children, each CHOC Walker must raise a minimum of $50 to participate in the Walk. Everyone can register at http://www.chocwalk.org and receive up-to-date event information at CHOC Foundation on Facebook and Twitter.

How Disney Does Starbucks: A Photo Tour of the New Downtown Disney Starbucks in Anaheim

Wouldn't be incredible if Disney and Starbucks came together to make a mega Coffee house and dropped it smack dab in the middle of Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort. You know what they say, "When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true..." Well they did and it is glorious! The most beautiful Starbucks Coffee location has just opened right next door to the World of Disney Store. Just as you come off the tram and head down in the direction of Disney Parks, you are met with the most aesthetically pleasing Starbucks, we've ever seen. This place is gorgeous, open, airy, and HUGE - but we wouldn't have expected anything less from Disney.

Disney Sisters' Tips
1. The lines were very long and there are no fastpasses! (Say it isn't so!) However, there are a lot of windows open with lots of hustling employees and all things considered, it did move fairly fast.
2. The Downtown Disney location does not use the special Disney version cups, so if you want Disney whimsy, those are only sold inside the two Park locations.
3. This DTD location does accept Starbucks gift certificates and gift cards. Sweet!

Want more 'Coffee Talk?'

Here are some of our favorite shots from the new location.
In case you can't tell - it's so very magical!
*See if you can spot the HIDDEN MICKEY.*
Leave a comment if you find it, but don't say where.

We are in the middle of December and the holidays are in full swing! There's still plenty of time to visit the Disneyland Resort and experience the magic of Disney Holidays. It's the most wonderful time of the year to go to any of the Disney Parks. It's definitely a family tradition for us - and we highly recommend it.

Disney Story: Mom's Birthday Party at Disneyland

This post is sponsored by Disney Story. To find out more about this brand-new story-creation app – and how it puts the power of storytelling in your hands - click here

For most of you that know us, there is one woman that is the heart and soul of our family. The bond between a mother and daughter is unlike any other. There is a closeness that cannot be explained. In our family there are 3 daughters.

Sharing Disney with our Mom is one of our greatest joys as her three daughters. We all still live in Southern California, and never tire of being together. When we hear friends talk about how far away they live from their own families’ we know just how lucky we are. A big part of our Disney Story is living so close to Anaheim, we have grown up going to Disneyland Resort and love to celebrate our special occasions there. Everyone knows there is nothing like a Disney Celebration! One of our favorite memories is our Mom’s 50th Birthday Party with 3 Generations of Disney Fans.

One of the best parts about special events in our lives is reliving that moment for years to come with photos, videos or both. From Weddings to Birthday Parties, Baby Births to Engagements these are all one-of-a-kind moments that we all want to remember. No matter which method of documenting you choose they will all be precious. It’s not just the momentous occasions that are important it’s about who you are with and we can't think of a better, easier way to share those unforgettable moments than with Disney's new app: Disney Story!

This is your STORY. How will you tell it?

Why we take our family to Disneyland Resort for Disney Holidays

Everyone in our family has a different reason they love this season and what they look forward to most at Disneyland Resort during the holidays. We really love the way it makes us feel to share special holiday moments at the parks year after year. We continue to bring our families each Christmas holiday and cherish the memories we make.

Tracey
loves kicking off each holiday season with a trip to Disneyland. “It totally gets me into a holiday frame of mind! The park is so fun and festive for the season, it’s always just what I need to get me geared up for the holidays. It’s not about the rides at all—except of course It's a Small World Holiday and The Haunted Mansion Holiday which are done up with holiday flair—it’s about the decorations, the music, the parade and all the other things that stir up a sentimental feeling. I feel like a kid again! A family trip to the park at Christmas is the most enjoyable visit of the whole year."

Becky
loves that each member of her family gets to celebrate the holidays with their favorites. "We each take turns picking what to do next, we have so much fun trying to choose what new things we will add to our same favorite traditions from year to year. We are all given those extra special Magic feelings that only Disney knows how to give. Being surrounded by the beauty of the parks really gets us in the holiday spirit. No cooking, no cleaning, just our family focused on each other and the blessings we have been given."

Jessica
really appreciates that how no matter how much it changes, the feeling is still the same. "From the moment I step foot into Disneyland, I know that I am about to have a memorable time with my family. Every visit is unique and yet, they each have the same magical quality, trip after trip, year after year. If you ask my favorite thing about Disneyland during the Holidays it has to be the feeling I get inside my heart. It's a joy that is indescribable. I know it sounds so corny, but I get emotional just thinking about it. It truly is the Happiest Place on Earth, and at Christmas time it's the Merriest Place on Earth."

What are your favorite family moments and memories at any Disney Park during the holidays? We'd love for you to share.
Merry Christmas Eve everyone!!!

Tis the Season for Holiday Magic at Disney

An important part of being a mom, is keeping the magic of the holiday season alive in our children's hearts for as long as possible. These days kids grow up too quickly and it's  hard to watch them believe more in reality and less in childlike fantasy as they journey into young adulthood. (Take it from each of us, our older children are in the teenage years and things have sure changed.)

Disneyland is a place that always brings back enchantment, especially during the holidays. From the minute you approach the gates your eyes are met with a wintery wonderland. It is one of our favorite ways to get in the spirit of the season and to celebrate our inner child with our children. Disney Sisters Photo Tip 1: Make sure to get a photo of your family in front of the huge tree on Main Street. Do yourself a favor and have the photo pass cast member take the photo of your whole family, (with your camera) that way everyone is included in the picture!

Every year we Fa-La-La our way down Main Street, oohing and ahhing over the festive decor and dressed windows. If you listen closely, you can even hear Christmas music playing in different areas throughout the park.

New Orleans Square is adorned with beads hanging from the gates, and you feel as though you have just stepped into Mardi Gras, masks, skeletons and all. It's where one of our favorite "remixed" attraction lives, Haunted Mansion Holiday, which is a must-see ride every year. Disney Sisters Photo Tip 2: One of the best places for a picturesque holiday card is right in the middle where Royal Street and New Orleans Street meet. Below Club 33.)

Whether it be or dancing reindeer, roller skating snowflakes or Jolly old Saint Nick himself there is an endless amount of Christmas Fantasy in the Holiday Parade. You can see all of your favorite Disney Princesses, Mickey and Minnie ice skating together, the whole Toy Story gang, even Santa and Mrs. Claus!

Once it becomes dusk, they light up it's a Small World, transforming it into It's A Small World Holiday. The thousands of lights twinkle and the clock is adorned with a Santa Hat. It's the most gorgeous display of colorful lights that we look forward to seeing each year.

The Sleeping Beauty's Castle lights up at night turning it into the most sparkling, twinkly castle in all the land. During the day you can see it covered in snow and icicles. Disney Sisters Photo Tip 3: The Castle is a wonderful backdrop for the classic family portrait at Disneyland during the holidays. Add in some extra character after you've gotten the regular smiling shot, by doing a "jump"photo. Count to 3 and have your entire family JUMP! You won't believe how different and hilarious it will turn out and kids love doing it.

The music and fireworks show always delight, but it's the snow that quietly falls on Main Street at the end that really one of everyone's favorite part about Holiday time at Disneyland. Especially for us Southern Californians, snow is a unique and wonderful thing!

We have made going to Disneyland during the holidays a family tradition for more than 5 years. It's a special event that we all look forward to all year long. We are building memories full of magic that we hope our children will remember forever. What are the traditions that you carry on with your family during the holidays?

Did you know that Disney California Adventure gets all decked out for the holidays too?  And they even have SANTA!!! We'll soon be sharing our trip to DCA, Buena Vista Street, Cars Land and all that's newly decorated at the "other half" of the Disneyland Resort

Disclosure: We were invited to a Holiday Blogger Event at the Disneyland Resort which got us into the spirit of the season. We were also given a gift bag. This post was inspired by things seen and heard throughout our magical day. The thoughts shared here are Disney Sisters' only.
