15 Cool Things to Do at Disneyland Resort During the Holidays

Tis the Season to be Dazzled... at the Disneyland Resort!

With the Disneyland Diamond Celebration in full swing, the holiday season at Disneyland Resort is even more magical then ever! There's diamonds, snow and mistle-tow. (Mater joke) Ho. Ho. Ho. From the moment you walk down Main Street, U.S.A. and see the decorations it's clear that Disneyland Park (and Disney California Adventure) have both been transformed into a 'Winter Wonderland.' From special merchandise to holiday-inspired treats, from ice-skating to sledding down real snow, it's the most wonderful time of the year not to be missed. (We never do!) This year the Happiest Place on Earth gets merrier with the 60th Anniversary Celebration in addition to the festivities!




There are so many reasons to visit the Disneyland Resort during the holidays especially this year, make sure that you don't miss any on our list of must see and dos! 



1. Olaf's Snow Fest
Being able to frolic in the real snow in the middle of Southern California is magical.  Families can enjoy this wintery celebration with a snow play area, race toboggan slides, cool entertainment, and special food offerings. You can even meet, get a warm hug and take a photo with everyone's favorite snowman, OLAF!

2. Disney's Grand Californian Hotel Lobby
Last year on the day after Christmas, we drove to Disneyland Resort just to spend some time inside Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, it's that beautiful! We had dinner at Storyteller's Cafe and walked around soaking up the holiday ambience. Sit by the fire, listen to the piano player play holiday songs, enjoy the tree, tell Santa what's on your list. Make sure to check out this year's gingerbread house in the lobby!


3. Haunted Mansion Holiday
The Haunted Mansion has gotten a holiday makeover it's so festive... it' spooky. Jack Skellington and his quirky crew bring their holiday spirit to town in a transformed version of this popular New Orleans Square attraction. Make sure to look for the Hatbox Ghost! Ho! Ho! Ho!


4. Cars Land
Cruise over to Cars Land, where the residents of Radiator Springs display their homespun holiday décor—including a “snowcar” that’s guaranteed to bring a smile to your “grill.” Make sure to look for each car's themed tree, like the cozy cone tree! So cute!


5. Jingle Cruise
Join homesick Jungle Cruise Skippers on a holly jolly adventure stuffed with seasonal shenanigans from stem to stern. This ride down the river is filled with lights, decorations and all types of Christmas-themed fun. Don’t miss the boat! 


6. Disneyland Forever Fireworks
Everyone's favorite way to end the evening at the Disneyland Resort. It's the most incredible fireworks spectacular yet, honoring the 60th anniversary celebration. 'Disneyland Forever' builds to a breathtaking crescendo of bursting colors and falling snow. You read that right, It's SNOWS at Disneyland every night in a flurry of frozen fractals! You may want to grab your seat on Main Street U.S.A. as the buildings become part of the show with incredible projections!


7. A Christmas Fantasy Parade
Prance over to the parade route and watch some of your favorite Disney Characters—including the Princesses— join Santa and his reindeer to create an extravagant fairy tale of sight and song. And this year, your favorite Frozen characters have joined the party! Warm hugs for all!


8. Paint the Night Parade
See Mickey and the gang like never before! It's lights, lights and more lights in the Paint the Night Parade where the floats are lit up like a... (you guessed it) Christmas Tree! Get out your glow sticks and turn on your light up ears, for this show that's merry AND bright!


9. Downtown Disney Winter Village
Explore the festive ambience in a Downtown Disney District that’s been turned into a whimsical, snowy Winter Village. Enjoy live entertainment, shop for special gifts and go ice-skating on Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink.


10. “World of Color – Winter Dreams”
Lights, Water, Action! Watch the holidays come to vivid life as dazzling lights, soaring music and pyrotechnics sweep you up in the magic of the season. This is a must-see show sure to warm your heart.


11. Season of the Force
The force is strong this holiday season with the adding of 'Season of the Force.' Guests can now enjoy Hyperspace Mountain, Star Tours - The Adventure Continues, Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, Star Wars: Path of the Jedi and Star Wars Launch Bay. Get ready to be taken to a galaxy far, far away  as you discover these new experiences including food and merchandise inspired by Star Wars.


12. Sleeping Beauty Castle
There is nothing that says Happy Holidays to us more than seeing Sleeping Beauty's Castle draped in Pixie Dust. Your whole family will ooh and ahh at the snow-capped turrets twinkling with icicles and thousands of shimmering lights. It sparkles even brighter during the Diamond Anniversary Celebration.


13. "it's a small world" holiday
Set sail on the happiest, most merry trip around the world to see how the world's different cultures celebrate the holiday season. From the outside of the attraction to the inside, there is not a more beautiful Christmas light display in all the land. This is a must see each year for our family!


14. Disney ¡Viva Navidad!
Let's get this Holiday Fiesta started! Dance to live regional music and celebrate Navidad with crafts, face painting and tasty Mexican specialties. See Mickey and Minnie celebrate this season in traditional style! 


15. Tree Lighting on Buena Vista Street
Bring your family to share this delightful heartwarming experience. Enjoy the festive melodies of the Buena Vista Street Community Bell Ringers and marvel at the magnificent lights and decorations. Be there at 5pm daily as they light the towering 60-foot Christmas tree daily through December 25, 2015.

From the moment you walk down Main Street, U.S.A. and see the decorations it's clear that Disneyland has been transformed into a Holiday Wonderland. From special merchandise to holiday-inspired treats, it's the most wonderful time of the year not to be missed. (We never do!) This year the Happiest Place on Earth gets merrier Nov 13 - January 6, 2015.

So make a list and check it twice, leave who's naughty and bring who's nice to experience Holidays at the Disneyland Resort.

How Disney California Adventure Celebrates the Holidays #DisneyHolidays (Video)

We are in the middle of December and the holidays are in full swing! There's still plenty of time to visit the Disneyland Resort and experience the magic of Disney Holidays. It's the most wonderful time of the year to go to any of the Disney Parks. It's definitely a family tradition for us - and we highly recommend it.

Take a few minutes to watch as Disney California Adventure Park has been transformed for the holiday including highlights such as Christmas in Cars Land, Buena Vista Street and Disney's Viva! Navidad. (Interview with Santa coming soon!)
