Share-A-Craft Link Party!

My older boys started school this week. We've been busy around our house lately. I love back to school time, but it's been a bit tough around here lately. If you don't know already, I'm bipolar II (we recently figured out that was what was going on and not just regular depression), and I'm working on getting the right combination of meds. I don't think I'm quite there yet, which is frustrating. Blah. Seriously, it can be so annoying. Mental illness can be a lot of things: devastating, impairing, horrible. And sometimes it's just a pain in the ass. So, the first thing to go is the blog when I'm not feeling up to things. On the plus side, the older boys are loving school and their new classes, and I think it will be good for me too, to get into more of a routine. Anyway, I'm telling you this because if I don't keep up my regular schedule, you'll know I'm just off doing things like feeding my children and making sure they bathe. And trying to not bum myself out too much. :)

Anyway, I did get around to commenting on the links and admiring all the awesomeness that is my readership. I'm picking five this week since I didn't do last week.

Clarissa Emily at A Little Stone House wrote up a tutorial for how to make those little charm pendants that are soldered together, with a picture between two pictures of glass. I just had a friend a few weeks ago ask me if I knew how to make them, and I don't (she almost fell out of her chair that I didn't--well maybe not, but I am usually a good person to ask about things like this), so I was thrilled to learn how to do it. And I'm really tempted to go out and buy the supplies. Like right now. But, I will probably refrain and ask for them for my birthday. I can see these making super cool gifts for everyone from my mom to my kids' teachers.

Natalie over at Get Scatty posted a bunch of projects she's taken on recently. She calls them "small projects," but I'm calling her out on that one, because I don't think you can rightfully call refinishing a dresser, a bedside table and a tv stand small projects (hopefully she will forgive me). Nope, they are each beautiful pieces, and I love her idea of putting a floor lamp next to a small nightstand. Too cute! She also spray painted the lamp shade. And her mid-century modern dresser is to die for! (She might be able to get away with calling her lamp shade and her family frame small projects, maybe.)

Laura at Laura Thoughts recovered her carseat. Now, I think that I would tackle just about any project, but the things she tries, I'm just not sure if I would attempt them. And they turn out beautifully! I love the idea of having some beautiful and funky fabric for a carseat (for once) and she does an awesome job.

There were some really great sewing projects this week and I went back and forth trying to pick one. I finally settled on this adorable dress from Cheryl at Sew Can Do. She calls it the Re-Tee Dress Tutorial, and it combines my love of upcycling and little girls dresses. I'm getting the itch to sew!

Cindy from Little Did I Know made some hand trees with her family. I haven't seen these before, and I love Cindy's version. Too cute! I love the canvases wrapped in burlap. Genius idea.

Share-A-Craft Link Party!

I'm without internet today, so I'm going to combine last week's party and this weeks party and do my three (except I'll do five) picks next week. But, I didn't want to leave you without a link party, so link away!

Plus, I'm really looking forward to looking through everyone's links when I get my internet back. Can't wait to see!

In the meantime, check out who interviewed me! Suzy from Suzy's Artsy Craftsy Sitcom interviewed me yesterday. It was so much fun, and I loved answering all her questions.

Share-A-Craft Link Party!

Here are my picks from last week.

So hard to pick. Really, you should just go look at them all, if you haven't. Because they are all fabulous.

Rialeigh at Creative Release created this awesome tutorial for how to transfer a design and hand-embroider it onto a shirt. Not only is this project right up my alley, but she totally stole my heart by using one of the monsters I designed for one of my free kits. How cute is that!?! My boys would die for a shirt like this! And I hadn't heard of the pencils she uses, so I need to get on that; they sound dead useful.

Kris at Missie Krissie used some leather scraps to make this amazing necklace, and she shows us how she did it and it's not even that difficult. Such a simple, yet stunning idea. It makes me want to break out some scraps I have and get going. Just beautiful!

Kindra from At Home with K did this desk makeover for her son's room. As I read her post, I was seriously impressed with how much control and input she let her son have. With my own kids, there are certain things I really don't care about, and then there are things that I do (desk colors would fall into things that I do). Kindra let him pick, and I'm so glad she did. The end result is charming and inviting for a little boy, but heck, I'd be happy to put it in any room in my house! I love how it goes with the map on the wall.

Share-A-Craft Link Party!

Another great week with awesome projects! It is seriously a treat to look through all of the projects. And, I'm so excited that there are a few more links each week.

Here are my picks for this week. I have a feeling I'm going to always be saying how hard it is to choose. Well, it is. Never realized until I was the one trying to narrow it down.

Cassidy over at Thrillingly Thrifty made this completely adorable mobile out of t-shirt scraps. Her little one is due soon, and I'm guessing she's starting to go into nesting mode. I love the baby view, pictured below. Such a sweet idea, and I'm a sucker for mobiles.

Heather at Not Just Straight Stitches painted this vase using the mod podge technique I've been seeing around blogland recently. However, she had the brilliant idea of making it variegated for a beautiful effect. I love the warm colors, and it's just beautiful. I have quite a few dollar store vases around just screaming for something like this. So inspiring!

Lastly, Casey at Randomness made this fun framed yarn ball from a dollar store frame and a crochet hook from her grandma. If you've read Casey's blog at all, you know she loves this yarn! It's perfect for her. I love the sentimental crochet hook and the bright blue frame. I would love a series like this in my craft room, one for each of my crafts. How fun would that be?

Oh, and if you hadn't noticed, I made "I've been featured buttons" over there -----------> somewhere, so if you've been featured, you should grab one!

Share-A-Craft Link Party!

I can tell this is going to get harder and harder. Picking three from last week's party was tough. Almost as bad as trying to pick out baby names with my husband.

First up, I picked this amazing spa party from Autumn at The Fickle Hobbyist. I love my mom and all, but I'm tempted to ask Autumn to adopt me. I would have died and gone to heaven at this party at age seven. Or now. I would still have loved it at age 28. The details are amazing. Go check it out.

I adore these leg warmers from Patricia at If Life Was Like a Cupcake. They are fun and funky and made from adult socks! What a cool idea. I actually have a pair I should do this with, because it turned out that they wouldn't go up my calves. Bad sock design? We can only hope. Anyway, she has a great tutorial on this quick, fun project.

Last of all, I just couldn't resist this quilled jewelry from Ann at All Things Paper. Swoon. Swoon again. I love quilling and I think I need to do more of it. Especially if I can wear it. She has a bunch of examples on her blog, along with a tutorial. My favorite is the 2nd one, done on a magnifying glass, but I also quite like the thumbnail she chose (the one pictured below).

Share-A-Craft Link Party!

I've been toying with the idea for a while of hosting a link party. I think I'm finally going to try it. I absolutely love the idea of seeing some of your projects and some of your blogs. I promise I will do my best to comment on all the projects linked. And, of course, I'll be picking my faves to be featured next week.

Tell your friends. It's going to be fun! I'm grinning from behind my keyboard.

And of course, I'm going to continue sharing my own crafts. So, on to that. He he.

I realized I've made a whole drawer full of jewelry I never shared on the blog. I picked out my favorite pieces, you know, the ones I actually wear, and I'm going to start sharing them every so often.
I love this double strand necklace. When I first started making jewelry, I didn't have many of the same bead, so I had a ton of necklaces that were tons of different beads. I soon found out I never wore them. I prefer the simple repeating ones like this. Whenever I wear purple, I reach for that one.

I think that might be my favorite bracelet ever. I've worn it dozens of times since making it. I believe I was inspired (ok, ok, you got me, I downright copied it) by one in Bead Trends. The long silver parts are woven seed beads that are then wrapped into tubes. It was tough to get the right length, since I'm picky about bracelet length and it took me hours to weave those beads with a needle. I adore it. It goes with absolutely everything.
