Alphabetimals
Alphabetimals
The Alphabetimals were created in response to making a game for children that is educational, safe and encourages soft imaginative play. Helping parents and children get together, in a learning experience I considered how I learnt numbers and words as a child, it was usually matching games I excelled in and always remembered I found those best with my memory, especially if it was animals or colors I liked. In my design I have deliberately chose some that will be challenging to remember or unusual animals to increase the challenge. I created 26 soft felt, Hand stitched animals, fictional and non fictional and each one is representational of their corresponding letters that each one begins with in their name. These were to be slotted into a pocketed blanket made from cotton and soft polar fleece with letters emblazoned on each pocket, when all the animals were snug in their pockets it could then be rolled up inside itself and taken away. These animals could then be turned into bag charms or keying’s when the child grows up as an added extra feature to them.
