Birthdays and anniversaries starting to come up. Mum's birthday, my aunt will be celebrating 20 years in Australia and a distant cousin is turning 70.

For mum, I quilled her name inside a watch and made a box for the card I posted earlier:

The cousin lives in New York and collects Israeli souvenirs and memorabilia of all kinds. At seventy, he earned the right to wear a top hat. I also made a 3-D envelope:

Mum's Birthday

Made this little Australiana card for my mum's upcoming birthday. As a result, ended up getting a book on quilled Australian wild flowers and, thanks to the unevenly cut oval aperture, tested out my newly bought variegated DMC cotton floss. As a result of that, ended up getting a huge set of variegated DMC's. As a result of that late night eBay shop, I am thinking up a design for blackwork embroidery, as well as for the variegated floss. Shortly I will make a box for the card and take some photos of that too.

Древние Сны / Ancient Dreaming (Русский & English)

Меня вдохновляет искусство австралийских аборигенов. Моя работа для Скрап-задание №2 "Дудлинг" основана на нём, а также на аборигенских легендах и мифах о сотворении мира. По преданиям аборигенов, Время Сновидений — это описание периода перед сотворением Земли, когда еще не существовало физического, материального мира. Люди сотворили себя тем, что мы себе приснились. Некоторые аборигены называют этот Великий Сон 'Алчеринга' (или Алчуринга). Это слово является одним из условий ветки задания, которую я выбрала. Необычная надпись потому, что аборигенские языки не имеют письменность и латинский алфавит не может выразить уникальные звуки их фонетики.
Итак:
1)  Я использовала белый картон 30см х 30см и разные графические фломастеры.
2)  Я выбрала левую ветку и выполнила все её условия:

   (i)   Дудлинг
   (ii)  Необычная надпись - к тому, что я уже объяснила, в буквах R и G есть  
          микробисер
  (iii)  Ч/Б гамма
  (iv)  Микробисер - в двух буквах, на затылке у черепахи, точки над головой ящерицы и
         клякса над буквой N
  (v)  Нитки - кружочки возле хвоста ящерицы и возле черепахи

I am inspired by Australian Aboriginal art. My entry in the Scrap Doodling Challenge is based on this art form, as well as on Aboriginal creation myths and legends. According to legend, Dreamtime was the period before our material existence. People dreamt themselves into existence. Some Aborigines call Dreamtime (or The Dreaming) Alcheringa. This word is the unusual inscription - one of the conditions of the challenge. What makes it unusual is that Australian Aboriginal languages do not have a writing system and the Latin alphabet cannot truly transcribe their unique sounds.
And so, for the challenge:
1)  I used white 12" square card stock and various graphic pens.
2)  I selected the left most branch and fulfilled all its requirements:

   (i)  Doodling
  (ii)  Unusual inscription - in addition to what I mentioned above, it's also got microbeads in
         the letters R and G
 (iii)  Black & White theme
 (iv)  Microbeads - in the two letters, on the tortoise's neck, dots above the lizard's head and a 
         splotch above the letter N
 (v)   Floss - circles near the lizard's tail and the tortoise

A man and his flask cannot be parted, as one never knows how far the next pub is.
This is a gift for my husband - for his birthday and St. Valentine's Day. A flask decorated biker style on one side and with a monogram of our nicknames on the other. I remembered I've got red cross stitch canvas (14 count), so I embroidered the Confederation flag (I pieced together a pattern from flag photos). The monogram is done in silver and gold thread on black canvas (14 count). The monogram is a modified version of a pattern from an application I have on my iPad. I then glued the finished canvas pieces on the flask. Thought I will enter it in the Cups and Flasks on Homyachok Challenge.

Мужчине нужна его фляжка так, как он никогда не знает, как далеко может оказаться от наливайки.
Это подарок моему мужу - на день рождения и день Св. Валентина, а ещё на 23е февраля. Фляжка в байкерском стиле с одной стороны и с монограммой наших кличек с другой. Я вспомнила,что у меня есть красная канва для вышивания крестиком (14 квадратиков/инч) и вышила на ней флаг Конфедерации (схему сообразила по фотографиям флага). Монограмма вышита серебряными и золотыми нитками на чёрной канве (14 квадратиков/инч). Схема монограммы из программы на моём iPad - я её немножко изменила. Потом наклеила вышивки на фляжку. Решила поучаствовать в задании Чашки-фляжки на Хомячок Challenge.

Вы пригласили и разрешили.......    вот оно.
Я вообще не занимаюсь скрапом; не понимаю его, не моё. Но мимо этого задания, а ещё в миниатюре, я не могла пройти. Просто собрала то, что я понимаю под словом scrap (обрезки, остатки) и сложила вместе. Думаю, что изображённый процесс понятен. Если нет, обращайтесь с вопросами  :)

I actually don't do scrapbooking; don't get it and it doesn't get me. But I couldn't ignore this challenge, especially in miniature. Simply gathered literal scrap that was lying around and put it together. I believe the process displayed makes sense. If not, happy to answer questions. :)

Недавно узнала о сайте Smart Arts и очень захотела поучаствовать в квиллинг задании МК №30 от che-fadeeva: КВИЛЛИНГОВЫЕ СЕРДЦА. По-английски говорят "Одна дверь закрывается перед тобой, другая тут-же открывается" (в современном мире поговорку конечно изменили на "Одна дверь закрывается перед тобой и следующая захлопывается сразу за ней").
Вот и получилась такая картинка (размер А-4) о том, что и всё плохое проходит.

P.S. Для всех, у кого русский родной язык: извините за ошибки и примитивность, пишу как могу.

Recently discovered the Smart Arts site and now I am submitting my piece for their quilling challenge MC No. 30 by che-fadeeva: QUILLED HEARTS.  You know how we say "One door closes, another one opens" (or an updated version: "One door opens, the next one slams right in your face").
Anyway, this is what I came up with - an A-4 size picture saying "This too shall pass".

Недавно купила микробисер. Понятия не имела где его применить (но чувствовала, что купить надо). А теперь, благодаря Экспресс Заданию на Хомячке - "Солнце и Луна", этот бисер превратился в луну (картина размером А-4). Ещё хвастаюсь нашим созвездием Южный Крест. А ещё включила созвездие Водолея - у меня день рождения в воскресенье!

Recently bought microbeads. Had no idea what to do with them (but knew I had to get them). Now, thanks to the Homyachok Express Challenge "Sun & Moon", the beads turned into a moon (size A-4 picture). I am also showing off our constellation - the Southern Cross. And I included the Aquarius constellation - it's my birthday on Sunday!
