Zewt in hotel quarantine

It was such a good feeling to actually know that there are people still lurking around here, it gives me hope that people still fancy reading.   I myself have also missed some bloggers that I used to follow, and I too wish they would make a return.  However, we all have our lives to live.

I wish everyone who is reading this is having a good life and that you are currently staying healthy and safe in this unprecedented time in human history.  I think no one alive has actually been through this.  Tough times but I am sure we will all come out of it stronger.

Meanwhile, just want to share with everyone that I am now in hotel quarantine, and I made these videos to entertain myself and hopefully you will be entertained too.

My “Friday Frolics” crazy video, hope you will find it funny.

This one is when I first arrived.

Hope you enjoy them and I will see you again very soon.

Best wishes to everyone,
Zewt

Malaysians in orgasm and cum watch this video

All Malaysians were led into an orgy of orgasm via the "ISA-to-be-repealed" announcement.  Unfortunately, not many realised that the orgasm they felt (or still feeling), was induced through syiok-sendiri type masturbation instead of full fledge sex.

Firstly, ISA is not abolished yet... and the terms of conditions applicable are... 2 new laws to be enacted as replacement for ISA.

So while all Malaysians were basking in orgasm... apparently, the now much loved BN govt is telling Bangladeshis that they can come and vote in Malaysia.  But of course, we all intellectual Malaysians know it's not true... Why? Because the BN govt denied it.  So it must not be true.

But if you believe that piece of news is true... then you would love this and... spread it!

Even Lee Chong Wei and the uncle at the Yut Kee coffee shop are getting into the act!

Letter to thyself – Round 3

15 people entrusted me with their letters in the first episode.  2 years ago, only 6 subscribed to the idea with 2 asking me to send the letters back to them only after 2 years. I hope they are surprised by what they have written 2 years ago.

As another new year looms, I reckon it’s time to resurrect this again.

It’s a pretty simple exercise…

You write whatever you want to write to yourself in a word document. Typically, people tend to write about their new year resolution but you should use your imagination.

You save the word document and password protect it (and remember the password).

You send it to me via e-mail telling me how long you want me to keep it.

I will send that e-mail back to you after your prescribed time.  Preferred time is 1 year, have received 2 and I am hoping people will send me asking me to keep it for 5 years.

The best effect is that you have forgotten you have sent me this e-mail and when I return it to you, you will be in utter shock reading what you wrote to yourself years ago.
For the first blog entry about this exercise, read here.

Hope to receive many many many mails… and Happy New Year!

Perception

I know it is not original to post forwarded stuff but this is by far one of the best I have ever read amongst all the forwards that I receive on a daily basis… strongly encourage you to read it…

Washington, DC Metro Station – a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approx. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle- aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.

4 minutes later……… The violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

6 minutes……… A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

10 minutes……… A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. Several other children repeated this action. Every parent, without exception, forced his or her children to move on quickly.

45 minutes……… The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

1 hour……… He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition…

No one knew this, but the violinist was
Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theatre in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities.

The questions raised:

In a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?

Do we stop to appreciate it?

Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made…

How many other things are we missing?

Lace Petals Lingerie… go indulge

I was told that the online business is one which is flourishing. Well, judging by the amount of web boutique being set-up, that may just be true.

Another friend has set up another such boutique and it’s not the usual dress and girls’ accessories… it’s hmmm… lingerie… I was told that wearing a sexy pair of lingerie give a girls a boost in self confidence. Is it true? If it is… plenty confidence there I must say.

As for the men, you’ll not regret the sight you can get from there. You might want to get a pair for your lovers? After all, it’s Christmas!

Mention Zewt and you might just get a discount. Happy shopping at
Lace Petals.

Read?

I stumbled upon his writings some time last year when a close friend of mine forwarded me one of his articles. It was a very long read but I was left speechless for a while after reading it. The things he write will really make you think. I am referring to Johann Hari, a British journalist.

I chanced upon another article of his today. It talked about a city which we have heard about it over the news many times. But the article shed a whole light on it. It certainly did for me. Certain parts may be a little dry but there is eye opening knowledge everywhere around the article. It’s stupendous.

If you are into more knowledge, a different perspective of things, an enlightening moment and what I believe is a very good read, I invite you to
go pay a visit.

But if you are browsing through the blogosphere just looking for laughs and not interested to know about the reality of life and do not intend to further your horizon (which is perfectly fine by the way), don’t bother.

Health, H1N1 and 15Malaysia

Health front…

Many thanks for all your well wishes. Kidney check up went well. The readings have actually improved, though still considered abnormal. Well, just have to keep it that way for now. Continue to maintain a healthy diet and plenty of exercise are the instructions from the nephrologist.

H1N1 front…

Finally (because I believe it’s just a matter of time), the company I work in recorded the first H1N1 case yesterday. As expected, the first instruction sent out was for everyone sharing floor with the subject to remain in office and continue working. I just feel this pandemic is revealing a lot of things about life to us, if we could open our eyes and see.

By the way, Malaysia has moved up the ranking from 9th place (as at 2 days ago) to 8th place in the
pandemic chart. Malaysia boleh!

Humour front…

Have you guys heard of this project called 15Malaysia? Quoting from
the site:

“15Malaysia is a short film project. It consists of 15 short films made by 15 Malaysian filmmakers. These films not only deal with social-political issues in Malaysia, they also feature some of the best known faces in the country…”

The short films will be released in stages where 3 clips have been released thus far. The first clip features the infamous Namawee with the clip titled
“Potong Saga”.

Check it out!

Have a wonderful weekend and once again, thank you all for your well wishes!

Inter“net”esting

A friend of mine went for a talk by the head of strategy of a local conglomerate and came back with some very interesting points…

The bandwidth usage increased 10 folds in the last couple of years. No, it was not due to blogs. It’s due to facebook and youtube.

Malaysia ranks amongst the world’s top 3 countries for having the most Friendster users.

If you think the KL-ites and the PJ-ians contributed to this, think again. In Malaysia, the top state in terms of the most Friendster users is Pahang, followed by Sabah.

I will not be surprise if Malaysia ranks amongst the world’s top countries for facebook user based on percentage of population. Does it tell you anything?

1 of the 50 facts

Honestly speaking, I have never finished reading a book. The closest was Tuesdays with Morrie. But this changed about a month ago when I picked up a book from my sis-in-law’s room. The title of the book was “50 facts that should change the world” by Jessica Williams.

Therein lies much information that will make you think about life and how screwed up we are. This book inspired me to write
Disparities Insanities Inhumanities, most of the stats I quoted in that post are from this book.

Having said that, humans are forgetful selfish creatures. We tend to forget meaningful and heart warming things in life and only care about issues that directly affect us. So put aside the facts about how many people are deprived of food, robbed of their lives, deprived of their rights, etc. Probably that’s why the book is called “50 facts that should change the world” and not “50 facts that will change the world”.

So let’s put on our true selfish nature and talk about 1 fact that directly affects us.

1 of the facts in that book states that people in industrialised countries eat between 6kg and 7kg of food additives every year. We Malaysians may not be living in what is considered as an “industrialised country”, but I am sure our intake of food additives is close enough.

If you look at the ingredient list a typical “Made in Malaysia” type of food produce, you should see things that you are familiar with and then at the end of it, you have the mother of all ingredients… “…dan bahan pewarna dan pengawet yang dibenarkan” (permitted colouring and preservatives). So on average, you may have eaten up to 7kg of these “pewarna dan pengawet yang dibenarkan”.

That’s the Malaysia Boleh type of product.

I am now looking at a product of Singapore and they have some extra-terrestrial-like name in their ingredients such as Sodium Sillicoaluminate, Sodium Casseinate, Stabiliser E340ii, Stabiliser E451i, Emulsifier E 472e, Emulsifier E471 and 7 more names which I can’t pronounce. This will certainly fail the
2nd commandment of 12C 4 HE, but I am sure many of us don’t care.

We might say the Singaporeans are “kiasu” as they must list out everything instead of saving printing cost and just lump everything as “pewarna dan pengawet yang dibenarkan” but at least they know the name of the stuff they are eating. For those who eat Malaysian products, do you even know what you are eating?

That aside, we all know that all sorts of chemicals and additives exist in our food and they are of course, maintained at a “permissible” level. But like the good ‘ol Malay saying… “Sikit-sikit, lama-lama jadi bukit” (little by little, soon becomes a hill), the accumulative amount of chemicals and additives that we eat is astonishing. The “bukit” that we are talking about here is a total of 6kg to 7kg a year.

In a world where profits is the number 1 priority, you have no idea what is inside the food that you eat to make them look better, taste better and last longer. All I know is that when I am thirsty, I should reach for water instead of a proclaimed thirst quenching fizzy drink.

But we all know what we should do, whether we will do it is another matter altogether.

Have you got the balls...?

I forward a mail containing a picture of a tee out and immediately, I got g-chat prompt asking me where they can get the tee. Thereafter, I get another... and another.

One even said he will buy 5 different colours. Wow... I am now considering whether I should start importing the design as it is of UK origin.

Now, I think it's not a matter of getting the tee, but a matter of whether one has the balls to wear it.

Maundy Thursday

It was my first time celebrating Maundy Thursday. I have never heard of it, and it was also a maiden celebration for my church. I was told that Maundy Thursday is the celebration of The Last Supper; bearing in mind tomorrow is Good Friday.

We had a proper meal though, with rice, potatoes, salad and roast lamb. Of course, it was not exactly a dinner fellowship. The meal went through a full liturgy with reading of the The Word. And yes, I enjoyed the meal very much. I didn’t bring my camera and that was the best shot I got with my phone. The lamb was yummy!

But you know what is the best part?

Jesus washed the feet of his disciples before he went on to be arrested and crucified, and we had the “feet washing” ceremony too. To symbolise a master washing the feet of a servant, we had…

An employer (a boss) washing the feet of an employee…
A person who has a library at home washing the feet of a student…
A husband washing the feet of his wife…
A professional working in KLCC washing the feet of a refugee social worker…
The pastor washing the feet of church council…
And a few more…

We then had holy communion (with real wine) and ended with a blessing toast.

Jesus – we partake the bread and drink the wine in remembrance of Your body broken for us and Your blood shed for us. We remember your death on the cross tomorrow, and will celebrate your resurrection this Sunday.

12C 4 HE

I remember it was only about 10 months ago when I was really discipline with food due to my health condition. For example, I will never cut off the fat from those yummy looking siew-yuk. And you know what I did during those discipline period? No, I didn’t cut the fat off; I stayed off siew-yuk completely.

Besides that, I am also proud to say that it has been more than a year since I last had fast food. Yup, the new 595 thing in McD has no effect on me. I only had alcohol twice in the last 10 months – once during my sister-in-law’s registration and the other during my sis’ wedding dinner. I think I had soft drinks less than 10 times in the last 10 months; and that includes the-tarik and coffee.

Not bad right?

But as some of you may know, the results of my 2 previous check ups were pretty encouraging. I found out that good readings from the tests are… bad!!! Suddenly, the temptation to add char-siew or siew-yuk to my regular chicken is now so hard to resist. I succumbed to it yesterday. And last weekend, I whacked a lot of mutton curry when it was only 10 months ago that I managed to stay off red meat for almost 6 months.

Yes, it’s truly tough to be healthy. You will only be truly healthy when you think you are dying. Well, technically speaking; we are all dying; just a matter of how soon. Sorry for being so morbid.

Anyway, I found something very interesting about healthy eating in my
friend’s blog. There are 10 Commandments given by God and a guy called Michael Pollan gave us his 12 Commandments For Healthy Eating. And the 12C 4 HE are:-

Number 1:
Don’t eat anything your grandmother wouldn’t recognise as good.
(Zewt:- I really like this one. Think about all the junks you’ve eaten!)

Number 2:
Avoid food containing ingredients you can’t pronounce.
(Zewt:- Gee, how many will go off the list?)

Number 3:
Don’t eat anything that wouldn’t eventually rot.
(Zewt:- Anyone seen the video showing the “life” of McD fries before?)

Number 4:
Avoid food products that carry health claims.

Number 5:
Shop the peripheries of the supermarket; stay out of the middle.
(Zewt:- Get the drift?)

Number 6:
Better yet, buy food somewhere else.
(Zewt:- Means go to the wet market lah)

Number 7:
Pay more, eat less.
(Zewt:- This is so true in Malaysia if you want to be healthy)

Number 8:
Eat a wide diversity of species.
(Zewt:- I have eaten a bat and it’s really yummy!)

Number 9:
Eat food from animals that eat grass.
(Zewt:- I tend to disagree with this)

Number 10:
Cook and if you can, grow some of your own food.
(Zewt:- I am glad I like cooking)

Number 11:
Eat meals and eat them only at tables.

Number 12:
Eat deliberately, with other people whenever possible, and always with pleasure.
(Zewt:- I think this is not applicable to Malaysians. When we get together, we feast!)

So, do you think you can follow all of them (except for number 12)?

“Doh Yu”

Today, I would like to teach everyone a very famous Chinese saying. As you’ve noticed from the title, the Chinese saying that I would like to teach is:-

Doh Yu (directly translated as “extra fish”)

It simply means doing or getting something extra but that extra bit is totally useless. Something like… buying pads for a guy. Get what I mean? It’s meaningless… it’s useless… it’s futile.

Some other very good examples of “Doh Yu” are:-

Blogging an entry to make fun or criticise a certain toyo politician in retaliation of the Eli saga.

Making comments in blog (particularly anonymously) to make fun or criticise a certain toyo politician in retaliation of the Eli saga.

Blogging or making comments in blog that circles around the notion “don’t-resign”.

Blogging an intellectual entry to reason out what is right and what is wrong and who should be responsible regarding the Eli saga.

Signing online petition for someone to intervene.

When you see situations mentioned above, you can safely say… “DOH YU”! Can you think of anymore examples?

Chinese saying previous taught… “

The resurrection of “Letter to Thyself”

To the 15 people who entrusted me with “their letter”, I hope you have safely received the wonderful words you have written to yourself by now. I hope it was a good experience for you guys. And for those who did the exercise at their own privacy, I hope you all enjoy it too.

For those who are unaware, I wrote about an exercise of wonderful self-reflection. Basically, you write a letter to yourself. I am more than glad to be of service once again this year should anyone wants to do another round of such self reflection or perhaps, doing it for the first time.

Again, just write down your thoughts, aspirations, hatred, ambition… basically anything and put it in a password-protected word document and send it to me at zewtness(at)gmail.com and I will send the letter back to you. By the time, I hope you would have forgotten about the letter already.

Read
here for a detailed explanation.

For this time round though, I plan to do something different. You shall have a choice to decide on how long before I send the letter back to you. You may want me to keep your letter for 5 years. So long as I am alive, I will be more than glad to do it for you. And come next year, I will not be writing an entry like this to “remind” people.

Just don’t forget your password ok…!

On a related note… AZAIG turns 2 !!!!!!
And…. Happy Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Zewt… !

Start writing everyone!

The arrest and losing my premier virginity

After months of not touching the ‘forbidden’ issue, I have to make a slight switch today.

Just in case you don’t know, the so-called de-facto leader of the opposition has been arrested today due to sodomy charges. I have to say the manner of the arrest is pretty incredible. According to MalaysiaKini, the authorities went with 15 patrol cars and some SWAT team-like commandos to arrest him. Wow… is Anwar magneto or something? Not like he can fly and you need to shoot him down, can he?
I have quite a number of friends who do not really trust this I-will-lower-petrol-price dude. Many claimed he is a dangerous person but at the same time, they can't really explain why he is dangerous. Whatever it is, I have to say many support him simply because they don’t support the other. It’s a matter of either or.

And looks like they are going to lock up the seemingly infallible Raja Petra Kamaruddin tomorrow. Looks like the power-to-be is trying to clean up all the obstruction on the road. I wonder who will be next.

Looking at the trend of things, it is certainly not very wise to blog about such things anymore… better change topic…

Hmmm… Oh yeah, I attended a movie premier yesterday at Gardens thanks to
Suanie who was kind enough to offer me a ticket despite me submitting rather crappy entry in her haiku competition. As bloggers, the sponsors, Nokia, even threw in a dinner. It’s cool to be a blogger I must say.

It was my first so there goes my movie-premier virginity.

Anyway, I didn’t know they have to employ Rela personnel as guards and they actually used metal detectors to check us. Gee… we are just a bunch of bloggers and Nokia personnel and from what I can observe, most of us are actually teenagers and I do not recall anyone of us looking like terrorist. Also, I didn’t see any VIPs watching with us.

Oh, the premier was for The Dark Knight. It was a cool movie I must say though the visual effects towards the end were a bit too far fetched. Well, when you see it, you will know what I mean. Hats off to Heath Ledger for an excellent effort in portraying Joker. Personally I think he absolutely bulldozed past Christian Bale in terms of performance.

Now I am looking forward to Red Cliff and The Mummy (Tomb of the Dragon Emperor). I hope the streets will be safe and no riot or emergency or anything of that sort when the movies are out. Don’t do anything stupid ok!

From tension to happ‘y’ness

What is tension?

Tension is when I was being ‘volunteered’ into a public speaking competition.

What is relief?

Relief is when the theme of the competition is ‘environment’. (Should I reproduce what I wrote here 2 weeks ago?)

What is irony?

Irony is when the big big boss is the judge.

What is happ‘y’ness?

Happ‘y’ness is when I am now a proud owner of a Sony PSP after emerging as 1st runners up. First prize was a digital camera, I think I prefer the PSP. Do I sound like a sore loser?

Now, I need to learn how to operate this damn thing… muahahahahahahaha!!!
