ODBDSLC229: Pastel Color

Hello!  I am settling into my shabby chic mode more often- total opposite of my CAS style.  And the new papers from ODBD Shabby Rose is just gorgeous and just begs for flowers and laces.  The hardest part is covering any of it up.  For the pastel color challenge this week, I cut out my base layer with the large pierced die from ODBD Flourished Star Pattern.  I also added a border from Beautiful Borders and Doily.  My floral spray above the doily is a cluster of Fancy Foliage and some Wild Orchid Flowers.  To be able to still see the pretty paper, I embossed in white my verse from Scripture Collection 9 on vellum.  Finally I added a little sprinkling of pearls.

Trust In the Lord

Hi, I'm here again with another shabby chic card.  Whenever I try something new, I tend to keep trying and playing with it so bear with me!  Since these toys were already out from my last card, I made another card.  My base layer was made by using my largest stitched die from MFT Blueprint 13.  To add a bit of gold (and to try my new Inka Gold rub), I used Tim Holtz' Harlequin Stencil and the Memory Box Amira Flourish is cut out of metallic gold card stock.  Popped up with small Joy! foam pads is a white layer trimmed using Spellinders A2 Curved Borders.  I love that bit of the pink card stock showing through.  And I finally figured out how to make sure my flowers and bow stay glued on - use a hot glue gun!  I rarely use it on paper crafts but wow - what a light bulb moment for me!  Again I added a little tag embossed in gold with a sentiment from ODBD Ornate Frame Sentiments and cut from ODBD Mini Tag Dies.

Lavender God Bless You

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! I hope you get to spend some time with your loved ones today - and not just waiting for reservations.  ;)

I just love new toys - and none better than dies!  Spellbinders new Mary Border Strip is just pure elegance.  And since I love flowers and butterflies (as well as being very ready for winter to be over), I combined it all in this card.  I die cut PoppyStamps Cheviot Butterfly   and Delaney Butterfly three times each out of Bazzill Wild Pansy paper and adhered them on top of the white Mary Border Strip layer.  The blue floral vellum was the perfect soft background as well as some organza lavender ribbon.  I hot glued a spray of Wild Orchid Flowers and a tag featuring ODBD Ornate Frame Sentiments as well as some leaves from Memory Box Fresh FoliageA final touch was some pearls for the bodies of the butterflies.

CCNS70: Shabby Chic Valentine

Hi, I'm sharing with you a card out of my comfort zone.  I think the number of shabby chic cards I've made can count on one hand.  But sometimes a challenge is just that - a challenge!  So if I can play along, hope you can too!

I started with scrap paper I found that had soft coloring.  My next layer is a white die cut with Spellbinders A2 Filigree Delight popped up with small Joy! foam pads.  Next came some a heart from ODBD Ornate Hearts Dies cut from Recollections Luxury Stack and sponged with Distress Inks Worn Lipstick.  I then added a strip of music from Memory Box Virtuoso Music.  I had just gotten some Wild Orchid Flowers and I clustered them on top of Memory Box Amira Flourish from gold card stock and half a doily pleat-folded.  Instead of snipping off the wire end of the flowers, I curled them into tendrils for more texture.  Finally, a tag embossed in gold with a sentiment from ODBD Ornate Frame Sentiments and Mini Tag Dies and lots of pearls!

I think I need more practice with shabby chic but this was fun to step outside my usual cards.  Hope you can play and have fun too with this week's Classy Cards 'n Such Shabby Chic Heart challenge!
