Blessings

Slim line cards are so popular right now so I had to make one even though I don't have any of the dies.  I just used a third of an 8.5 x 11 card stock.  The good news is that it will fit inside any business envelope you have.

They are perfect for the large word dies by Quietfire Design but wow, they are hard to photograph!  I love it that I have plenty of room and there is just something satisfying by making a long design.

The Elegant Ornament is covered with MGP Tyrian Purple as are the stamens of the purple flower.

Beautiful like Snowflakes

The mornings here have cooled dramatically this week and even though I have no desire to skip beautiful fall, I felt like playing with cooler colors and came up with this card using the We Are Like Snowflakes stamp combined with the Beautiful die.

To create the background, I started with a white base and made a mask using painters tape.  I used the snowflake from the Flourished Christmas Mini 2 set and Brrr die sets.  If you don't have these dies, any of your favorite snowflake dies will work.  I love masking this way because it gives me a wonderfully intricate but subtle background.  Since my dies were on the smaller side, I was able to use a wide painters tape on the release paper from the Elizabeth Craft Design's double sided adhesive.  It's always a good idea to save those sheets.  It make removing the painters tape a breeze.

I then sponged over the edges with a couple of different blue inks, leaving a space for where my stamped sentiment will go.  I do love peeling that blue off - even though it looks pretty good like that too!

I thought I took a picture of my next step but I did not - got carried away crafting.  After stamping my sentiment, I decided I wanted the word Beautiful running up the side of the card to emphasize that part of the sentiment.  However, the white Beautiful die got lost with all the snowflakes.  To darken the background, I masked off a little more than an inch and sponged more blue on just that section.  To frame that section more, a thin strip of silver washi tape was added.

I also used the new Modern Gilding Powder Gesso White to make that white really white.  To tie in the silver washi tape, I also gilded several snowflakes with the Modern Gilding Powder Forever Platinum.

Thank you so much and I hope you are enjoying the weather wherever you are!

Spellbinders January Small die set

Hi, there!  Popping in real quick to share with you a few cards I made with the Spellbinders January Small die set.  I die cut them several times to just play around with.  Since I didn't have many plain sentiments to finish the card, I typed up several on Word and printed them out on cardstock.

I really liked how this second one turned out - it was relaxing just to take my Zig clean color brush markers and draw in the leaves and flowers.

For this last one, the LOVE was covered with Dragon Berry Modern Gilding Powder.  Love the look!

ECD Home for the Holidays

This week over at the Quietfire Creations blog is Gilded Christmas week!  There are gilding inspiration galore and if you hop on over there, you'll find the details on how to join the giveaway!
They’ll be featuring the new Modern Gilding Powders throughout the week because they are just amazing.

I made this card a while back but haven't had a chance to share it.  You might have seen it on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog also.  It features the Burnished Silver Modern Gilding Powder on the Flourished ornament die cut.  Since I didn't heat it for very long, there is a wonderful texture to it.  I added the solid part of the Flourished Holly with some shading on the berries to the top and the center is from the Let your heart be light clear stamp set.

I found some Christmas paper (I believe it's from Recollection - sorry but I don't remember the name!)  but I did sponge some green to the bottom of both the circle die cut of the sentiment and the designer paper.

Will you be home for the holidays?

Christmas Poinsettia

I make a lot of Christmas cards but most of the time I like to send out photo Christmas cards.  I love receiving photo cards also - to see my friends and especially kids grow throughout the year.  And I keep them all!  So I will usually give away the Christmas cards I make but my friend had a great suggestion - to just make them into Thank you cards.  So I'm really ahead of the game because I'll have thank you cards ready to go!

No surprise but these dies from Quietfire Design complete these cards made easy by Sizzix Poinsettia die. This die is so easy to use and so effective - love the negative die cut look and since I filled some of the petals with green, I also get the look of inlaid die cut.  The Thanks above is from gold card stock.

The black Thanks above is made with Modern Gilding Powder Gothic Black.  Below I decided to change things up a bit (this is the fun part of making more than one card with the same focal die).  I made the poinsettia white, sponged the center a bit of yellow and green.  But I also used the Modern Gilding Powder Kell's Gold on the stamens and a double layer on the Believe.  It looks perfectly decadent in real life!
