Chalet

Image
Unfortunately, Alex has been my new playmate for the month. Haha. Well, he is too free to be true. Just went swimming with him yesterday morning before I won him in pool. Its been almost 8 years since I had a serious swim. Haha. Now I have a little burn on my shoulder. Brought Alex to Irene's chalet. Seriously, I have no freaking idea why on earth did he come along. Haha. Nonetheless, he showed up but left after a while. And to think both of us gobble down one bottle of Tiger Beer each. I think I am dying. And East Coast Park is so inaccessible to me, I have to take a few rides just to get there. Went with Leng to look for the florist that we bought flowers from almost 3 years ago. She needs to sell flowers for a fund-raising activity back in NTU. Anyway, out of boredom, I saw this dumb test. Am-I-Dumb.com - Intelligence Tests

我会有出人头地的一天. 请相信我.

Zouk

I went Zouk last night, courtesy of Alex, Weiyen, Alvyn and Shane. It was so packed that we almost couldn't get in. Nonetheless, we got inside the place. I don't do this often though, but experiencing it once in a while is fine I guess. To top if off, I got free drinks! And I finished one jug of Whisky too. Crazy man. Its been 3 years since the Tsunami incident at Indonesia, that killed many and destroyed homes. I was watching the news yesterday and the repair works are currently up to 80%. I guess physical compensation is incomparable to the emotional wreckage that has deeply scarred those people. And I heard that they are building the settlement further away from the sea, but this is posing some problems for fishermans who live their lives at the shore. Due to the torrential rain, there has been landslides at Java Island, Indonesia. There seemed to be endless disasters nowadays. Maybe the Mother Nature is grumpy about things that we do. Haha. And all of us should be appreciat...

Christmas

Image
Christmas came and as usual I was by Alvyn's house with the gang, this time with the addition of Shu Hui. Things were as normal with the usual food and present giving. Haha. I bought a number of gifts this season though, just thought, I should get something for them since 20 years is like a milestone. The XBox 360 is back, to our delight, and we were happily experimenting with it. We drank quite a bit too. Haha. Whisky, Baileys, Vodka, just name it. I think my liver is going to spoil soon. I wonder whether things would be the same next Christmas. Merry Christmas to all! And Merry Christmas to me.

Christmas Eve

Image
Christmas Eve is finally here. Well, its an annual dinner with my regular group of friends at Alvyn's house. Haha. I am always looking forward to this day each year. Its not just the food, but the people present each year at the same time that matters. Haha. We finally played soccer after so long. Haha. Ever since Alvyn and Alex flew overseas for training, we haven't been doing any sports. And ever since I got out of army, I haven't been exercising much. Haha. One soccer is like asking for too much now. Went to shop for Christmas present with Kang before heading down to Wan Rong's choir concert. There was this lady who was so kind to lend me her discount card, when she heard that I didn't had a membership card. I am so touched. Many thanks to her. Its a 10% discount, so don't think its insignificant. Its the action that counts. Thanks again. After that was the concert itself. I would say its rather not bad, cause its not like those too professional ones, where p...

Mahjong

Have been having a few overnight Mahjong marathons lately. I think its bad for the health. Haha. And I have gotten quite sick of it. 2 years, before I play again. Quite looking forward to 2008. Should be a start of a brand new life. Met up with John, Kelvin Low, Marcus, Xiao Hui & Peiwen last night. I think the class is still the same. Haha. Just that probably we are dealing with more serious issues nowadays. Marcus has his bike already and he is ferrying people around. Its time for me to start learning driving. Been procastinating it for almost a year. Settle into that new life soon, please. Today is Leng's birthday. Hereby wishing her a wonderful day and merry moments ahead!

single's day

Went out to shopping with Alex today. It may sound gay but he is one of the only available, so well, I can't 'hiam' too much. I went to buy my working clothes as well as new year clothes. Haha. Really spent quite a bit in one day. Went to Bugis. I think its really a good place for people like us to shop for clothes. Its quite cheap, especially with OG and Isetan there. I bought a watch too. Haha. But seriously, bringing Alex out isn't much of a help, he is looking at girls more than clothes. Ate 'Kuay chap' before heading to watch "The Warlords". Hmm. I think the show is ok only. Haha, but I don't like a lot of the bloody scenes. Haha. I will prefer 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' though. What's victory when there's no dignity? What's rich when there's nothing to possess? What's loyalty when there're no more friends? What's your aim in life, when you have no life?

2 gatherings in a row.

Image
Yesterday was a busy day. Somehow managed to have 2 gatherings in a row. I met up with both my NYJC classmates; 04S3A & 04S6B. Went to eat dim sum with S3A early in the morning. The strength was rather good, with surprising rarely seen faces like Ding Zhan's. I guess she never really changed. Ms Chiew didn't turn up though, due to fatigue from her holiday. At least its good to see familar faces and talk after so long. Went to Settlers' Cafe for a while before heading to Ho Kong's house for the usual hobby again. I will upload and send to you guys the picture after I get it from Ding Zhan. After which I rushed to meet Sharon before heading down to Orchard for dinner with S6B at Rice table, an Indonesian buffet. The food's so-so, hence I won't really recommend you guys to go eat. Its costs around $23 per person. We headed down to Minds' Cafe. Haha. To think I visited 2 similar ones in a day. Hui Juan's friends from Deyi Secondary also joined us for gam...

Forced

Forcibly inserted into material pragmatism, where dreams and hopes lie at the tip of the pyramid. A man dreams in face of realism, to only be punished by unfaithful returns.

Movie Golden Compass

Image
Its been two days of lazing around at home, so I went to catch the movie "The Golden Compass" with Wei Yen. Haha. Sounds gay when there is only the 2 of us around. Anyway, had lunch at Billy Bombers at The Cathay. There is a promotion for movie-goers! Maybe it has been there all along but I only noticed it today. You can purchase Fish-and-Chips and redeem 1-for-1 for another free-of-charge using a ticket stud, and that ticket is valid from one week within its date of issue. And its quite a big portion. Both of us had trouble finishing it. Haha. Well, the movie was kind of not bad I would say. Although I have heard comments like "If you guys are just fascinated by that polar bear, go to the zoo and see then.". Haha. That didn't stop me from catching it though, and I would say its ok, not say really that bad. Although sometimes the plot gets a little difficult to comprehend. I almost fell asleep if not for that polar bear. Haha. I was too tired. Its a sequel thoug...

Supper and my mum's first birthday celebration

Image
SSG Tong Leh and SSG Sum Whye 'jio-ed' me out for supper. Haha. They even offered to pick me up. So off we go and stopped at Serangoon for some prata. It was rather funny, cause I rarely meet them outside camp. They are very nice to me, although each of them have unique characters. Met up with Wei Yen, Khong Chin and Shu Hui in the afternoon. Started to discuss about more serious stuff. After that walked all the way to have lunch at Hougang Mall. Its been seriously long since I last played soccer with them. With everyone working and busy again, wonder when's the next time. Haha. Hope SSG Tong Leh will organise one for STW instructors in mid-December, when the gunnery phase starts, and more instructors will be free to play soccer at 'The Cage' again. Today is my mum's birthday. We haven't celebrated like this before, so we decided that we will kick off a steamboat dinner. Haha. Don't play play k? There are apples in the steamboat, mind you. She said its h...

Finally the day

Image
Finally comes the day where I collect my pink IC. Its nothing great I guess, considering the fact that millions did that before me. But still, it was a reluctant pleasure to be in possession of that little card again. 12 hours before I was able to collect my IC, I was offered a lucrative deal of extending my ORD date, to 6 months later. I guess the department will be hurting for help when some of the other regulars are occupied with other commitments. The Head Training Officer came down and offered to help me write a petition for the purpose of extending my ORD date. Haha. It feels good to be needed. But in the end, I didn't take up the offer due to some reasons. But at one point of a time back in October, I did thought of extending ORD date, since I will have nothing to do till I enter University. Haha. In the end, I still think I can do more meaningful things outside. Still, leaving with a heavy heart is never easy. SSG Wu, one of my closest colleagues, drove me out and treated m...

Enchanted

Went to catch the movie 'Enchanted' with Leng. I would say its a nice movie, with fairy tales coming alive in modern New York. It was a show filled with laughter and nice soundtracks. You guys should catch it. There are a couple of other movies I would like to watch too, like 'Hero' and 'The Golden Compass'. The 'Anti-Drug Campaign' seems to be promoting itself again. I am seeing posters in MRTs and numerous bus stops, with slogans like "Drugs, if you play, you pay". I even see Flesh Imp selling clothes that discourage drug abuse, with laser printed T-shirts that costs quite a bit. There are only a limited amount of 30 such T-shirts worldwide. Christmas is coming. There are starting to have sales everywhere and you can already hear some carols along the street of Orchard Road. I remember a year ago, I was preparing for Carolling performances at various shopping centres. I can already feel that my body is losing the battle against the germs and...

Financial planning

Woke up early in the morning despite being dragged to late night mahjong last night. Went to visit IPP Financial Advisors and attended a seminar on Financial Planning. I guess I have to thank Khong Chin for this. All along, he has been taking good care of me, not leaving me out of any good things that pass by. I guess financial planning has to start early, as shown in Jia Ji's case. Even though I don't put money making as my top priority, I believe there are better places to put your money rather than in a bank. Anyway, those who are interested in the seminar can contact me, and I shall try to get you people a slot for the seminar. Its a monthly event and absolutely free of charge. And not forgetting to thank Wei Yen for the shirt and the little dog keychain he got from Hong Kong. Oh, and by chance, the speaker went down to ATI to give a similar talk too. I remembered some of his videos and presentation slides. Anyway, Deren is posted to ATI for ASC course. Haha. Too bad he ca...

Beach

Image
Was in the East the whole day. Went to replace my POSB 'Go!' card as it was defaced, due to my itchy hand for peeling off the first layer. Haha. In the end, I have to pay $5 dollars for it. In addition, I went to inquire about the MySavings Account scheme that they were offering. Its a regimental savings plan that makes you earn higher interest by saving up a certain amount of money monthly. This sum of money is deducted from your main account, meaning that you are setting aside a sum of money to collect higher interest per annum. Sounds quite good eh? Haha. I am just asking. Went to Pasir Ris Park today with Jasmine. It was a rather nice weather, although dark clouds can be seen forming from afar. Luckily, it didn't rain until we were leaving. I spent the whole day indulging in the cooling sea breeze. Nature is just so wonderful sometimes. Went to the ticket.com outlet at Century Square to find out that they are upgrading the system and hence cannot process any transactio...

STW vs OTW

The fierce rivalry between STW and OTW is settled once again in a soccer match. STW side won 5-4, however, much to our regret, half of the team aren't from STW. Haha. Anyway, I went back to camp early in the morning to participate in that highly anticipated match. I was half-asleep though, but I am glad all went well. I got my ankle hurt in a challenge, but its nothing serious. Haha. Been out with Jasmine these 2 days. Had dinner and was looking for some gifts and cards. I had been trying to figure out how to solve some problems lately. Can't seemed to get things right. Maybe I am thinking too highly of myself for taking upon this task. Not that I am completely capable to begin with. Suddenly, I feel so weak such that I don't have any idea what am I doing. And I don't understand why do people like to shower me with cold shoulders just because they aren't feeling great at the moment. If you just need to be alone, go ahead and tell me, don't have to jab me with fr...

something

I did something that didn't make me look gentlemanly. Give and take, forgive and forget. Maybe I wasn't one in the first place.

Alvyn's back

Alvyn's back in Singapore, and I went to have lunch with him this afternoon. He had lots to share about the training there, and I am glad he came back in one piece. With this, I believe we can start playing soccer soon! Haha. If I've got the chance, I would also want to go there to train once. Maybe its time to go and meet up with the little kids who went too. Hougang Mall has changed much since the Secondary school days. The post office is shifted to the 4th floor while there are a whole new chain of restaurants opened in the 2nd floor, where NTUC used to be. The standard of living is getting higher, or rather, the cost of it. One plate of Wanton Mee costs $3.50 now, and its lesser than before. Oh god. Went to pay some phone bills. My brother's costs $80 plus, how on earth can someone uses close to 2000 sms per month? Anyway, Alvyn bought Winning Eleven 2008, and its for XBOX 360, so I went to his house to try it. To our dismay, the console was down. What a bummer. Someday...

ORD Medallion

Image
Went back to camp yesterday night, so that I can wake up early in the morning to go for Life Run. Haha. Actually, all those was for that ORD Medallion. People who are leaving the service as NSFs in ATI will receive a medal for their contribution in the 2 years. Its nothing much, but at least its an appreciation for your efforts. Talked to ISM today. He is still the nice guy with a lot of things to share. I am glad I spent my 2nd year tour in ATI. Here's that medallion. What do you guys think of people going for sex-change? Haha. Well, I know its a bold question, but its happening in real life now. Of course its not me. Its quite scary to even think of it. Its rare for Zhen Cong to be so enthusiastic in organising a gathering. Its time to get something done.

Naruto

Nothing's been coming up lately. Have been staying at home and watching 'Naruto'. Received a call that I need to go back and collect my ORD Medallion tomorrow morning. I just got to pick up my lazy boots and head back to camp tonight, if not I will never reach there on time tomorrow. Guess I will finish up the clearance as well. It feels like 15 years has just passed from my last collectable memory. Hmm. The tide of generation flow never stops. Feel like going for night-cycling, anyone up for it? And that Epic Battle restarts; Second Round.

Music Instrument

Image
Was flipping through some old photos of mine when I saw those of MSSB days. Vividly remembering the backstage and the dressing room in Esplanade, it was a out of a whole experience for a kid like me. Its super classy and sleek inside. Haha. And there are mini-televisions for people to watch the performance from backstage. Victoria Concert Hall cannot be compared to it at all, for those band people who remember. Montfiesta VI was something unforgettable, even though we may not play fantastic music nor exciting repertoire, seeing all our preparations and hard work paying off were all that was enough for little men like ourselves. And here are the little men that held together despite having different beliefs. Learning an instrument ain't easy I tell you. Remembering the seniors asking us to play some instruments to see whether we are cut out for it. I was quite fat that time, so was given a larger instrument to handle, but who knows I slimmed down and had difficulty carrying it aroun...

Window shopping

Image
Been out with Tessa today. Supposed to do some gift-shopping for her friend, but we didn't end up with anything. Instead I got 2 Gundam figurines to add to my collection. Haha. They are sitting on my table shelf now. Since young, I sort of have an obsession for Gundam figurines, and I bought those 'fixable' kinds before. But my brother likes to play with them, and since they are so fragile, they often end up missing some bits and pieces. Haha. Can't help it also. I have to say this. I am quite disgusted by the behavior of our Singaporean commuters using the public transportation, namely the Mass Rapid Transit. There are common situations whereby during peak hours and the stations are more crowded with people, people like to rush into the train cabins despite others still trying to alight. I don't understand what's the prize for rushing in first, and it disrupts the flow of human traffic. Waiting a 1 minute outside the carriage won't kill. Is this the so call...

FF Real life

Found something interesting from Mr Brown's blog . Its a series of videos made by a group of college students, depicting Final Fantasy in real life. One thing's for sure. Its damn funny. Catch the remaining episodes at Youtube .

Savvy Psychology Major

I read an article on how to be an " Savvy Psychology Major " . It talks about what to expect and prepare for my future studies as a Psychology student, but that's not what I want to share with you guys. Actually that article talked about the basic requirements for surviving through college and going further ahead to accomplish our occupational goals. To put it across briefly, it compared the people of today with the past. People today are more ambitious into getting into a college compared to last time, but I believe its probably due to the fact that its more or less a basic working prerequisite now. It said that there were 2 groups for students in college, namely those possessing aligned ambitions and those not. What does these names stand for? Possessors of aligned ambition just means that they are in a course or learning environment that will help them achieve their ambitions, whereas those of the latter doesn't. Be largely aware that most of us belong to the latte...

Clearance

Urk. Couldn't get my clearance done today, due to the absence of some people while some others' signature can only be obtained on the day itself. I think I will have to go back sometime next week. Anyway, I am on leave until December, so you guys are free to date me out. Haha. I must be feeling rich to have watched 2 movies in a row. Caught 'Bee Movie' and 'Beowulf'. 'Bee Movie' is a rather family-oriented movie with comedy instilled in it. Its quite funny and relaxing and somehow there's always a morale of the story for this kind of show. In contrast, I felt 'Beowulf' was quite a flop. Haha. The story line isn't as nice as I expected and the computer graphics overshadows the real images. Angelina Jolie wasn't real too. I guess this is how it is to find the lull period. Somehow, I still can't help but worry for the 3 little seedlings who was posted in to replace us. One thing is, they aren't gelling together. Maybe time will t...

yet another day

Hey folks, how have you guys been? Its yet another day of lazing around. Went to meet Wei Yen for pool. Seriously, he is like one of my closest friend now, and we are going to be hostel mates next time in NTU. Despite seeing what the girls are going through now, I am still looking forward to the admission into University. Haha. I guess being through army has increased the urge of going back into the society. There is going to be a big gap I guess, and there's much to catch up. Also, I have decided that, if I've got the time I will do some cooking, be it now or in NTU later in the future. Firstly, I think it possible to save up a bit of money on food this way, and I think its healthier too, provided I decided to go healthy. Haha. Speaking about money, do you people think its possible not to use your parents' CPF money for your education? Haha. I am trying to do that, but its quite tough I guess. Unless I get a scholarship that is. Without that, a bank loan seemed to be the o...

Restless break

Didn't really do anything at all for this long break. Was supposed to meet S3A at AMK Hub for kbox, but apparently I overslept and lost the enthusiasm, hence stayed at home whole day. I guess its ok to stay at home and rest, I don't really feel like facing the sun anyway. Anyway, to share with those who have lack or part-time/full-time job opportunities, this may just be the solution for you. I have a friend called Nevin, some of you know him, and he is currently working for a employment agency. Thus, if you people are feeling restless and hyping for a job in order not to grind your precious time to waste, you guys can contact him or me. I will give you his contact, just say I introduced you to him. He won't reject you, so no worries. Maybe during this period, I should go and read some books and upgrade myself. Haha. It doesn't really feel good after staying stagnant for 2 years. I can't wait for Alvyn and Alex to come back. I have been listening to a lof of weird s...

done

Well, the funeral ended today. Can say that everything proceeded quite smoothly, although it was prepared in a rush. Hope he can get some peace and spend time with the others up there. Ironically, its actually this kind of event that gets the family together. Everyone came, those whom I knew, to those whom I don't. I just realised I got a 54 year old cousin. Haha. Anyway, it was a good experience and alls well that it ended smoothly. Been rather drained out due to the rituals and the sleepless nights. Life goes on anyway. What a date it has become. Maybe it was destined.

last duty

I finished my duty as of Monday, and hence I have no more regimental obligations left. Luckily for me, the duty was a rather easy and peaceful one. Thank God. Hence, what is left now is to slowly bring back the stuff from camp and do my clearance. I went to draw blood for HIV test at the medical centre today. It was a kind of routine check that people ORD-ing must do. Let me tell you first, it was a horrific experience. I was poked 4 times before the blood was successfully drawn. I almost fainted when I see the medic almost fainting after repeated failed attempts. Haha. When I get to see you guys, then I will tell you. Anyway, remember that 3rd Uncle that I mentioned a few months ago. Well he passed away hours ago. Hmm. Hope he rests in peace. Looks I will be spending some of my leaves at the funeral. And most probably, I won't be able to attend Sergeant Terrence's wedding. We shall see how then. The plague of epidemic seems to have fallen, as I found out that my 1st Uncle got ...

Need for speed.

Another Saturday passed aimlessly, with me drifting around in the house looming over empty boxes in hope of having some chocolate cookies inside. Went with Wei Yen to 'zeng' our bicycles. Haha. Its not much of a modification or addition, just one bell and a few reflectors. I think it is still a good choice to get a sturdy bike that can last quite long. If I am staying in NTU, I think I should bring the bicycles there. NTU is quite big. Maybe I can cycle to Jurong Point from there. But I think storing it will be quite a problem. Haha. He wanted to test-drive the bicycles, so we went cycling to Compass Point. We wanted to test if anyone were to steal our bikes. Haha. If they were really stolen, we can just say that we are out of luck, cause there were at least 70 other bicycles there. Maybe I should stop visiting Seng Kang. On second thought, forget it. I need a game to expend the time I have. Or maybe something that will take a lot of time to do. Hmm. It's turn to be a big g...

ORD, but not me.

Today, the first bulk of NSF from my batch took their pink IC, beaming with happiness and showing it off like they have won the 2.75 million dollar lottery. Heard from Bernard that Jia Ji eventually went back and show off his pink IC to the whole world, and he asked me whether I would do the same. Certainly, I can't say no. But somehow I have experienced this same feeling before, with people flashing their beloved pink card around, its hard to contain your own disappointment. So I told him I won't. I know its tough to suppress that form of delight. Haha. Actually, Aloysius was telling me he was feeling rather bored outside, and there wasn't really anything to do other than work. Haha. Don't know whether if he is trying to console me or what, but I kind of agree. I haven't got any plans after I get my card. Maybe I should continue to learn driving. But I think having gatherings will be on the top of my list. 1 more month to leaving everything behind. But leaving thin...

Not in the mood

Just got home. It has come to the time where the people around disappear from the army where I still got one solid month left to serve. Well, I have got Guard Commander Duty this coming Monday. Haha. What luck. Just attended some Basic Security Protection course. I learnt more about the law and how to handcuff people. Haha. Just where on Earth am I supposed to find a handcuff? Went to catch the Sneak Preview of the movie 'Gameplan' with the 3 little kids. I would say its a rather nice show, with a cliche ending. Haha. Why don't you guys go catch it if you have nothing much to do? Went to eat with Ming Min at Jurong Point. Its going to be another 8 months or so before I head into NTU. Zi Heng called; a long distance call from him, made after training. Feels good to hear his voice. Well, hope he and the rest of the gang will be fine at Down Under. And that goes for you too, Alvyn. And what's up with Jia Ji trying so hard to leave an impression on my tagboard? Haha. I have...

4 a.m

You know its 4.40 a.m in the morning now, and I can't really get to sleep. Just finished some mahjong and reading up some stuff when suddenly one struck me. In my 20 years of life so far, I had 3 regrets. Regrets that kept bothering me even till now. Its about something that I could do but I failed to do so due to the lack of competency and confidence, resulting in a great change and negative consequences in another's lives. I still feel kind of guilty, when I think about it. But somehow or rather, deep inside, I know that there wasn't much to be done back then. However, I just have this gut feeling that I could have done something, to make it better, to reduce that damage. Going to force myself to sleep. Oh, and Happy Birthday to both Tessa and John! Haunting thoughts recurring back and forth.

The bikes are here. I took mine out for a 'test-drive', riding to Compass Point and Kovan. Haha. I think I am getting more and more unfit. Got tired easily just cycling a few metres. Haha. I might go swimming tomorrow, just like what Caleb suggested. The bike isn't really as good as I expected. Not that there are faults in the brakes or the suspension, just that probably its in the storage for very long. Haha. Looks kind of"not-brand new". Well, I got this at a discounted price, so I guess I can't grumble much. The Law of Equivalent Trade eh? When you gain something, you lose some and its vice versa. Speaking about that, wondered what did I gained back then. Hmm. Now I got 3 bikes at home, with 2 belonging to the other 2 'kuku's. I must 加油.

fed up

Not in the best of moods. And getting yourself stuck at home isn't helping much. There seems to be an air of negativity looming around. It hasn't been a great day nor an average one, with plans flopping one after another. Probably the lack of sleep is catalysing the deteriorating of moods. And nothing seems to be able to lift this curtain of boredom and suppression held within. Strings of frustration seems increasingly apparent with each breath, with the weather flaming up the whole temperature. I can't help but escape, as the generation of thoughts about you hurts me like a slice of frosted blade piercing through. Cold and swift. A Silent Scream.

Irritated

Due to my high availability for almost anything in camp, I was volunteered to cover safety for live firing. I had to cancel my plans due to this live firing, as it will spread all the way to the night. Oh well, I got home around 12.45 a.m, and I am lucky to be able to catch a bus. Although I have nothing against covering safety for this kind of live firing range, but I am disgusted by the lack of appreciation for the help offered. Won't elaborate much. Very tired and sleepy. And Ying, take good care of yourself. To all my friends taking exams or whatsoever, all the best. See you guys in December.

STW BBQ

Its another day where I woke up early. Supposedly was to meet my colleagues somewhere in Serangoon North and go play soccer at Kallang. But somehow I was made to wait 1.5 hours.. Haix. I can still remember the last time I ever waited so long for someone. Haha.. And that was 2 hours. Playing at the 'Cage' at Kallang was quite fun. It was a football court made of artificial grass that is roughly two times the size of a normal street-soccer court. Haha. I think I enjoyed playing today, although it was quite tiring. Aloysius has been running out of luck lately, hope everything will get better for him. After that, it was another trip to the airport to send off the remaining 2 kids flying off today. Alvyn was there too, and I managed to catch him just before he went into the departure gate. Well, hereby wishing them Von Boyage and all the best to them. Will be awaiting their arrival in 5 weeks' time. Headed down to NSRCC, where my department held a chalet and a BBQ there. First t...

Woke up rather early today. Haha. I was catching an anime so had to force myself to wake up that early. Went to send off some of the trainees today afternoon. Somehow I can understand their feelings; just got back from overseas not long ago, but flying off again. But sometimes, life' just so helpless to some. I am still glad that the others went to send them off. I have been feeling kind of bottled up recently. I am wondering if the problems I escaped from during my overseas trip are coming back. It really doesn't feel too good. Vexed. Over nothing.

Saturday

Its a rare moment to find me at home on a Saturday night. Most of the time I would be with either some friends watching soccer somewhere, or eating dinner and hanging out till the last train is gone. However, today I chose to return home to eat dinner with my family. Haha. Its been quite a while since I ever get to sit down on a table and eat with them. Went out early in the morning despite the drizzle to play soccer. Luckily the weather turn for the better and the clouds appeared more beneficial than we thought when all the sunlight was blocked. Its like a usual event we have during weekends' morning, but Alvyn is leaving for overseas on Monday, whereas Alex has already departed for another country. Haha. Seriously, how are we going to continue to play soccer? Decided I should keep my lazy boots and head down to town to get some stuffs. With Wei Yen accompanying me, we went in search for the stuffs while grasping at the new developments in town area. The best thing is we bought bi...

Its been a relatively relaxed week, with just runs on alternate days of the week. I have been bringing the 3 new kids around the company, showing them who's who and what to expect.. I just hope I am not expecting too much from them now.. Met up with my ex-trainees for dinner at Pizza Hut.. Well, it was a heartening gathering, with people who just got posted to different units coming back together and sharing before some of them fly overseas... I am glad that I was invited.. Jia Ji went too. Need to go get some things for them before they fly.. Haha.. Actually, its also quite tiring trying to do nothing. Sleeping only makes you want to sleep more.

As promised, here are the photos taken after the parade with some of my trainees. Certainly, I am sure that they would agree that they will leave this course with memories that will never forget. Kai Siang & Me The 3 NSF instructors. I guess I will be leaving the department with a heavy heart, after spending more than 1 year in Tank Commander Course. Its been a love-hate relationship that I shared with the whole of the department. At times, there were unreasonable demands, whereas others, there welfare and privileges. All in all, I would say I really learnt a lot during my stay here and the people had already left an impression in the back of my mind. No regrets. Zi Heng (Silver Bayonet) & Me Hai Qin, Justin, Peng Yang, Aloysius & Me With that, this marks the end of my NSF career. What's left now, is to clear up some of the post administration and wait for my turn to get my I/C. Cheers.

Today is the big day for my trainees. Its their Passing Out Parade. One year ago around this time, I was the one standing in the parade square donning on the Chevron rank that I was given. At that time, new responsibilities as well as uncertainty set in while we step into our new units. Coming back to today, I seemed to see the me in them one year ago.. I have grown attached to this course a lot. Seriously, maybe because most of them are from Junior Colleges, and probably that's the main reason that we gel with each other easier. I have had a terrible experience with last batch, however, this batch has left me with memorable recollections and things that I can't forget. Seeing them grow and mature over these 20 weeks was an enjoyable one. There were scoldings, laughter, fatigue, tough training and so on, but there was one vital thing; we went through it together. Thinking about it, this seems especially so during the long overseas training, where almost every single minute was ...

gathering

I am no Catholic nor Christian, but I thought I should just share this nice video with you guys. Well, its about God and our lives. You may have to pause the song on my blog first. Enjoy. Went out with the gang to play soccer yesterday morning. Its kind of heartening to see all of them doing fine after one month. Played a bit of mahjong, watched soccer and chilling out at night.. It seems like the good old days are coming back soon.. Guess I will just rot at home today.. Dead tired.

20

I met up with Khong Chin today for lunch and a round of pool. Seriously, he is one of the only few person I know that really works towards what he wants in life. It may sound weird, but I am impressed by his planning so far, and I hope it works out for him. As for me, I will stick to my dream that is to become a Psychologist, and for your information, they are different from a Psychiatrist. Haha . At the age of 20, after living for nearly a quarter of your life, what changes do you think you can make to make your life better? I would say that the 9 th September that just passed marks a new beginning with different goals in life. I have come to realise that some people doesn't really have a goal in life, or rather a target they are working towards. Seriously, for people from JC , have you guys thought of what you want to be yet? There was still passing statement that was mentioned when I was in JC , saying that people choose JC cause they haven't decide what they want to do b...

Rest

Back from camp after 2 long days. Went for dinner together with Ming Min. Haha. Overslept on 975 and was late. I guess I am too tired. Hope I can catch up with the rest of my friends too. Its been a long while. Things aren't going that smooth back in camp.. Somehow, everything is going to come tumbling down again the same way as last batch. Really just waiting for that pink card to reappear in front of me.

Hmm. Its been one month plus since I have posted anything here.. Well, I touched down yesterday night and will be going back to camp tonight.. I almost forgot what is my user name for this blog.. Haha.. Thanks for all the well-wishes I received from my dear friends and trainees. I am back safe and sound. Well, its been a long while since I have seen you guys, hope you people are doing well, when I get the chance I will catch up with you people.. Now for the times spent overseas.. This year I get to spend my birthday overseas. Well, wasn't really expecting that to happen, but nevertheless the trip was a must to go. However, having trainees to celebrate with isn't too bad either.. It was a pleasant surprise having some of them waking up at 12 midnight and barging into my room and wishing me happy birthday.. Haha.. Well, kind of touched but have to rush them to sleep cause of training the next day. To top it off, I received a Winnie the Pooh plush toy from 2 of them.. Haha.. The w...

Last activity before I fly.

Was called up early by Hsien Yeow. He asked me out for Kbox session.. I was a bit reluctant as I just woke up and I didn't have the intention of going out today at all.. But nevertheless, I met up with Zhi Ying and him at Ang Mo Kio Hub.. Today is my Lunar Birthday, or Chinese Birthday, whatever you call it. My family had the tradition of eating egg vermicelli on our chinese birthdays.. Well, I had mine courtesy of my mum, who cooked for me once I got home. Although I don't really show it, thanks for the vermicelli. Well, I am one year older now, and although I already looked older than I am, I still feel that with every year I have grown up a little. This time, its no different.. Many things happened, and I am looking forward to the end of NS to close this chapter of my life. Somehow or another, I have apparently stepped out of the shadow that loomed over me for the past few months. Let this trip be a fresh start to everything. Its going to be another 7 hours plus before I nee...

Happening day.

Its a day of unprecedented events. Well, what I initially planned flopped, but spontaneous response and enthusiasm resulted in a whole day full of events.. I met Alvyn for lunch at Long John's Silver at Hougang Mall.. Its been a seriously long time since we ever played soccer, and the last time we met, I believed its at his birthday celebration. Haha.. Its another 5 weeks before I have a chance to play soccer again.. Maybe I can get to play overseas.. Haha.. Went to watch 'Secret' with Aloysius, Zhi Ying and Kelvan. I was late for the show and missed the front part of it.. The show is quite nice, especially the music part.. Haha.. I still thought the female lead looked a bit like Joann.. Well, only a bit I guess. I met Cheryl and Genevieve by chance today. As I was rushing for time, I didn't manage to talk to them.. Argh. What a waste.. Haha.. But I am really running out of time.. Oh wells. Went to accompany Ming Min and Yee Wen to shop.. Haha.. I don't even know wh...

Awaiting the night.

Its been a hectic day in camp today. With Monday blues settling in and the muscle aches that many suffered due to the marathon, I can't seem to find any time to catch my breath. Its another 2 nights before I depart from Singapore. Miss me people. Haha. Anyone with any wish list can sms me. No one's around. Its definitely a boring Monday night. I guess its livelier if it was back in camp. Seriously, sometimes I look back at the past archives of my blog 2 years ago, I would say things have changed, and so have I. Finally, everything is starting to end.

AHM

Just finished the highly anticipated Army Half Marathon.. This is the first time ever that I have ran so far in my life.. Haha.. 21.1 km.. Its actually not as tiring as I thought, but the legs are aching like crazy.. Haha.. Now I am considering the Standard Chartered 42 km run coming up at the end of the year. Well, at least this is over and I am glad I finished it. This big event got me waking up at 3 a.m in the morning, just to be able to reach there by 4.15 a.m.. Haha.. Didn't get much sleep last night, properly due to the adrenaline rush Wei Yen was talking about.. Went to watch 'Bourne Ultimatum' with the usual gang. At first I hesitated about watching that show as I didn't watch the previous 2 sequels. But in the end I came out due to the fact that I will not be seeing them for quite some time.. The show is quite nice, and the plot is crafted quite neatly.. If you guys got nothing to do, you can head down to cinemas and take a look.. Saw some familar faces at the ...

Jaded

For those who doesn't know, I am flying off this coming Wednesday, and I won't be back till later at early October. There is Army Half Marathon coming up this Sunday, so people, if you see someone familar in the drain, please take a closer look. It might just be me in need of help. Its has been a hectic one week, with the preparations for the trip and settling of some administration matters. Been assigned a lot of new roles and tasks, got to gear up for this final burst, and soon everything will be over. Its has been a lot of fast-paced training up to now.. With the 10km, 13km and 16km that leads up to AHM, as well as Live firing and Outfield battle courses, I would really enjoy any rest. People nearing ORD seems to be getting slacker and slacker, how come its the other way round for me?

Rainy sunday makes the mood..

Its yet another rainy afternoon again. Plans got cancelled, but its not that bad to rot at home either. I can't seem to get myself prepared for the trip. I don't even know where to start from. I guess I will just have to go for a nights out to prepare for the things. Argh . Focus focus focus. Watched the National Day Rally 2007. After hearing so much, I still think it takes 2 hands to clap. Whatever policies or mindsets you want us to adopt, there must be an opportunity for that to happen. You can't open a door with ease without using the right key. I guess this applies to everyone in life. I did a lot of reflecting on my own. This trip will be another getaway, yet again, trying to find my sweet escape from this never-ending facade of cruel fantasy. My buddy showed me an article on how Akon molested a 14 year old girl, and how he apologised and the creation of the song "Sorry, Blame it on Me". So who's at fault? At times we always try to find fault with one ...

Fireworks with S3A

It was raining in the late morning, but that didn't hinder the plans I had with my class. Its been sometime since I had met up with the few of them, partly due to my 2 weeks confinement and all.. Although some of them didn't turn up in the end, but it was nothing unusual.. Haha .. Was supposed to catch the movie '881' today at Marina Square but apparently it was sold out by the time we got there, so in the end we didn't manage to watch anything. Went strolling around Marina Square and Suntec looking for stuff to eat, before John came to join us.. Well, I had my first try at the donuts from 'Donut Factory'.. I would say its worth the wait with the long queue.. The double chocolate one I had was very nice.. Haha .. Zheng Yu still asked me why there wasn't a hole in the middle.. All of us at least had one.. Yum yum. Went in search of a good spot to look at the fireworks.. In the end, we were left with no choice but to squeeze ourselves with the crowd at ...

Back home

Finally I am back home. After 2 long weeks in camp, I get a breath of civilian life. Well something to announce before I proceed with other stuffs. Due to some changes, I will be flying off earlier and extend my stay overseas. The news came abruptly but oh well, I guess that's just how it is. Live firing came and went, and I am glad everything went smoothly.. Sitting on top of a firing tank isn't really very safe.. Haha.. Had been staying outfield for 3 days.. Its a kind of continuous training.. Haha.. And I guess everyone is tired out.. Washed tanks today.. Why don't they invent something like car-wash? Suddenly, I feel that '881' will be a nice movie worth watching. I will try to get as much rest as possible this weekend. I guess I have to cancel some appointments with you people as I am flying off earlier. I am still trying to recover from the shock I received.. Haix.

guard

Just finished doing Guard duty. Very tired and exhausted. It wasn't a peaceful one. Haha.. The cops came. Talk about it again. Was hoping to stay at the West side due to the fact that I have to book in, but my dad was kind enough to come and fetch me.. I was unconscious throughout the trip home. Haha.. Phew. Its heartening to see my tag board filled up with life. But I doubt I will got the time to reply anytime soon. Live firing Saturday and Sunday. People in NTU, just bear with it. Went over to Leslie's blog and browse through the 100 jobs that pay the most.. Haha. Looks like I won't be rich. Come on man, all my engineer friends, I am counting on you people! At least you guys are in there. Looks like I would have to give Simpson's a miss. Sharon came and talk to me today.. I knew this girl since first 3 months back at NYJC.. Back at first 3 months, there was no worries, no fears, only friendship. A lot have been telling me about how they wished they could have gone bac...

eventful day

Thinking that this would be the last weekend that I will be enjoying before I am confined due to training, I have decided to spend it more meaningfully. Haha .. Went out to meet Leng for lunch.. Brought her to Jalan Kayu for prata .. Haha .. Seriously, the cheese prata there is simply delicious.. One day you people should go and try too.. Back to the lunch, I am glad she enjoyed it. She is still the young playful self.. Haha .. We were talking about marriage.. A weird topic to chat about.. Too bad, Fang couldn't join us. Next time, perhaps. Rushed over to Tampines Mall to meet up with Aloysius for a movie which I don't really want to watch. A horror movie. For starters, I don't watch horror movies. The last time I watched a movie against my will was the time when I watch 'Saw 2'.. My class told me it was a family comedy and I go along with them, until I saw the poster of the movie -.- Well, this time, I was dragged by Aloysius to watch 'Alone', the show...

sianz

I am still tired.. It has been an uneventful day at Bukit Batok Civil Service Club.. Supposed to celebrate ATI's 2nd anniversary, but then it turn out not that exciting.. I guess the place was too small to contain the few hundred of us and having trainees that doesn't have any feelings for ATI wasn't any help in lifting the spirits.. Nevertheless, the games and lunch still went on.. You know in training, although its tough and demanding sometimes, having cute trainees helps to liven up your spirits.. There is this trainee who is quite soft and belongs to those kind of bookworm-like mummy's boy.We were doing one drill then, that requires aggression and strength: Staff Sergeant: "HEY! Can you don't be so gu-niang anot!!?? Give your commands like a MAN!!! You are the commander lehz! How do you fight off your enemies like this???" Trainee: "orh... ok." (expression-less) (A short pause.) Staff Sergeant: "Argh. Forget it, forget it." Sometime...

ATI celebration eve.

Hey hey. I am back on a Wednesday. Its rare I know, but I am really back. Tomorrow will be heading down to Bukit Batok Civil Service Club to celebrate ATI's 2 nd year anniversary. Seriously, its just another normal day to me, but well, at least its about having fun.. Training's has been tough this week and will be tougher the coming few weeks.. Having to run 13km early in the morning is simply not the greatest start to a day's training.. And due to the lack of instructors, our workload seemed to have multiplied by a few times.. Everyday work until fatigue gets the better out of us, and sometimes just a bit too much to bear when you have such a meticulous and demanding boss.. This is going to be my last weekend coming out before the live firing starts.. With subsequent outfield trainings and battle courses to conduct, it's going to be a big bash out there at Lim Chu Kang training area. Well, wish me luck. Quite exhausted already. Shan't talk more.

Age.

Another rainy afternoon. Sleepy. You know, I went to buy 4-D yesterday for my dad's boss. Don't ask me why on Earth did I do that, I was just following orders. I went down and saw that the queue was quite long then got a bit ' sianz '. I don't really like gambling although I do play ' mahjong ' and all, especially when my dad is betting.. Wanted to turn back when suddenly I thought that if the ticket is going to win tonight, my dad's boss is going to kill him, and he is going to kill me subsequently. I reached the counter reluctantly and sheepishly, finally. Then the counter auntie asked, "First time ah? What's your age?" Seriously for a moment I thought I looked old enough, then I stumbled upon the thought of my own age. Was I going to be 20 or 21 this year? After stoning a while, I asked her the reason for that question. Auntie: " Orh , just asking." Yeah, I know when Aloysius read this, he is going to laugh his ass off. There w...

regrets.

It has been another rainy day.. With this kind of weather, when will my clothes dry up? Anyway, I was chatting with Tessa about our JC lives, when suddenly she asked me whether did I have any regrets back then.. Thinking back about it, maybe I do have some, but oh wells, its over. Got to get a sling bag tomorrow for my brother. His birthday coming up.. I guess Zoey isn't that free to plan a dinner for him, neither am I in the right condition to go for a feast.. Well, there's always next year! Haha. Army is almost coming to an end for me. 4 months isn't a very long time, nor is it a very short one either. In retrospect to one year ago, it was still a tough and strenuous trainee life for me, but now, I am now an instructor taking care of those who are now in my shoes a year ago.. Hard to believe, but time really flies. Weeks by weeks, everything will just by-pass you if you don't pay it more attention. I would say it has been a meaningful and enriching army life for me so...

ARR

It was a pity I missed the highly antipated Armour Road Relay this year, due to my failing body. I am glad ATI did themselves proud this time round. How I wished I could be there.

NYJC

Since I am so bored and sick at home with nothing much to do, and I am tagged by Adelene, I might as well do this. 5 Likes & Dislikes about your JC life: Let's talk about the good part first. Well, its has been a good start to the 17th year of my life.. I have an interactive and exciting first 3 months life which I could have no complains about. I started out in 04S6B. From there I learnt a lot and met really good friends, which up till now, have no problems linking and meeting up with each other. I guess those were the friends that I have never regretted making. I believed I changed a lot during that significant short period of time.. With Fang and Leng still with me, I would say I am already very fortunate. Coming to the next part, I really liked the principal. I always thought she was very welcoming and approachable.. And with her vast knowledge and experience, every interaction and conversation with her was worthwhile.. Still remembering during Project Work where Zheng Yu a...

Severly sick.

I have slumped into deep sickness this time.. With the inclement weather going on, its beeen relatively common that many are falling sick.. Well, I have not been spared either.. With last week's flu gone, I am down with minor food poisoning and stomach flu.. It was an unbearable day today.. Vomitted everything I ate out.. Having runs to the loo also.. The worst part was the journey back home.. The journey took more than an hour, and feeling nasueous throughout it wasn't helping... Was feeling numb the whole body by the time I reached home... Well, I have been to the doctor's and I hope I will be fine after some rest.. I guess people are rushing me to sleep now.. Talk another time, when I am fitter.

family lunch

Just got home from lunch with my family.. Well, its was quite a rare lunch, as we don't really meet up that often.. But this time I dragged that long-lost cousin with me... As part of an effort to make her feel back at home.. I was quite glad that she agreed to it and go along with me.. Hmmm.. We headed down to Newton Circle before sending her to tuition back here in Hougang.. I must say, her level of maturity far surpasses anyone her age, I would say even more mature than my own brother.. For a secondary 2 student, to put herself through so much at this stage of life might prove to much for her to bear.. But I guess that's what have made her so strong.. I am determined to take care of her, lest she takes on similar footsteps. Had an encounter today that left me feeling very disturbed... I am still down with that sickening cold.. Hope it gets better by tomorrow.. Its going to be a mentally gruelling 1 year or so for me, if you know what I mean. Such cold signs of affection. May...

cold zzzzz

The weather is killing me.. Sudden downpours and sunshine have caused me to have a cold... Feeling very sick. I think I hurt my shin and calf while running the 8km and 10km runs. Hurting till now. Must be the lack of warm-up. Think I should go and sleep. Zzzz... Anyway, Alvyn was telling about his one minute-of-fame on the news.. Haha.. I guess he was there trying to catch the release of Harry Potter's latest and last book in the series: Harry Potter and the Deathly Shallows... On the looks of it, I guess many were waiting anxiously outside Borders this afternoon, trying to be one of the first few to get the book.. Haha.. Oh.. And by the way, if you people are feeling bored and in search of some things to pass time, you people can visit Xia Xue's blog on Top Seven Most Disgusting Bloggers in Singapore.. Well, its quite interesting, so go and see for yourself... And if you are feeling up to it, you can find out the aftermath of that post on Mr Brown's blog.. Another night ...

back again new zealand

Phew. Back from camp again. I have been doing rather a lot of things lately, but at the same time slacking off. Don't know if it is due to stress or the weather, I have been dreaming of weird stuff and waking up in the middle of the night. Dreamt of some people whom I haven't met in sometime, and something bad happened to them.. With Jia Ji's terrifying sleep-talking, things aren't getting any good.. Haha.. Speaking of him, maybe I should be like him, seriously thinking more about my future and think of how to make money.. I guess I am just procrastinating these matters.. I saw from the papers that the reason why some businesses are still running is due to their jackpot machine.. Its their main source of income.. Haha.. I should also have one at home, then you guys can come and play.. Then I will be happier each day.. Haha.. I am disappointed in some things. About those callsigns that some give.. "Buddy", "Best Friend" and all, sometimes I just wishe...

lazy sunday.

Woke up rather late today, around nine plus.. If that isn't late to you, its considered very late in the army.. Haha... Ate 3 pratas courtesy of my father, who woke up earlier to buy.. Haha.. Its been a prata frenzy for me, have been eating that for 3 days. Haha. Its another lazy Sunday with everyone gone as usual. Haha.. Wei Yen is confined in camp while Alvyn has church. Wondering when is the next time we are going to play soccer... Talking about sports, S3A guys also seemed interested in basketball, but somehow a meeting up just seemed so tough. Its always good to talk to someone like yourself.. Everytime I talk to Ying, somehow due to the fact we understand each other quite easily, it allows us to put things across easier.. Haha.. There has been a tough time inside us, but I strongly believe that its over. Well, till next week I come out of camp again. Stay tuned. =)

funny class

Went out with a few of S3A people the whole day, well, or rather, they came in batches.. Early afternoon, I met up with a few of them at Settlers Cafe.. For those who don't know about that place, its a cafe where you can dine and play all sorts of weird and funny board games and card games at the same time.. The price isn't too expensive and I believe its a good getaway from the 'busy' lifestyles we lead. After that, Jin Jie and Leslie came to substitute the two girls and we went on to watch Harry Potter.. I didn't really catch the books nor the movies hence, Leslie gave me a quick summary of what has happened.. Heard from some who said that the movie wasn't that nice, but it feels ok to me though, probably due to the fact that I didn't know all of the story.. But I guess the show was quite good, though I thought the kissing scene was redundant. I think I finally realised how come this show or story can attract so many people.. I guess fantasy is what kee...
