tenWord Winter

Tracking my grief
through winter woods
this all looks familiar

       ~ ~ ~

Time stops
in the winter temple
drifting at the door

       ~ ~ ~

We shiver
in the winter room
while dreaming of green

       ~ ~ ~

As dusk curls
around my shoulders
stars beckon me, "Come!"

These are ten word poems about winter, sort of.  The tenWord from is in response to Victoria's dVerse prompt.  The form itself is from another member, Brian, who (rightly) stated,     "...after ten words no one is listening anyway." The subject of winter is from Fireblossom at Real Garden with Imaginary Toads.  I'm not sure if I quite captured the human emotion she asked for but, oh well!

November Thanks

Words and image by Mary Bach

There is a clear, cold light
this November morning,
and last night’s powdering of snow
transforms the ridge.

The trees weave an intricate
design of branches
studded here and there
with chickadees, jays, cardinals.

Walking through the garden
I am warmed by
your hand
in mine.

Over at dVerse Poets' Pub Brian asked us to write about something we are thankful for.

And Then November

I don’t see you come
but I feel your cold breath
on my back.

Your gaze stoops my shoulders
and I wither
inside,
curling in
around the dark
like the petals of a flower.

A dozen shades
of brown and grey
fill my eyes.
A killing frost is coming;
I must prepare the ground.

This is for G-man and his FF55.  I missed you all the last couple weeks!
And this is also for d'Verse where Claudia wants us to write about color, and for  Writers' Digest PAD (writing prompts for November's poem a day challenge).  Today's challenge was "appear" and I tried to do it without using the word itself.
