lately...or a huge photo dump

Same song different verse. Horrible blogger...blah blah blah. Here's a massive photo dump from the last couple of weeks.

My sweet girl and I after church one Sunday. She is quite the entertainer.
Making silly faces with my boy. I hate how the front camera on the iPhone is such poor quality compared to the back side.

Hudson hears me say "shhhh" a lot and he has picked up very quickly what it means. We were looking at this book one day and he pointed to the baby in the crib and immediately put his finger {in} his mouth and said, "shhh." Such a sweet boy. Let's also take a minute and look at the randomness of his outfit. Jams, hoodie, and Thomas rain boots. :)

In this house we wear jams and other holiday attire until they are too small. We wear the holiday clothes at home only and not out in public but they make adorable play clothes at home once a holiday has come and gone. Here is Emma James sporting Christmas jams in February.

Emma is such a wiggle worm lately. She tries to "stand up" or sit forward in her bouncy seat. I think she is pretty close to sitting on her own. Also...love those baby legs!

On bad nap days we go and visit John at work. We always come with a Dr Pepper and Hudson loves the time in his office mostly because the cabinets aren't child locked and there is a guitar and piano to play with.

Last week I decided to start weaning Emma from her swaddle. She is 4 1/2 months old and rolling over so I figured it was time. At that point she hadn't rolled over in her swaddle yet so we were going slowly. It didn't go well so I fully swaddled her that night and she rolled over in her sleep at 3:00AM. We dropped the swaddle cold turkey in the middle of the night and it has taken a few days to adjust but she's sleeping great now.

We had a pretty busy day one day last week running lots of errands. In our small town I rarely go to more than 3 places at a time with both kids. And if I go to 3 places it is usually the grocery store, bank drive thru, and dry cleaners drive thru. Easy errands. But this day I had several in and out places to go to...Target, the mall, the grocery store, plus a drive thru at the bank and of course, Starbucks. The kids did so great but from the bank to the mall they both fell asleep in their car seats. I wasn't surprised by Emma since it was her nap time but it was 10:00AM, almost 3 hours before Hudson's nap time.

And poor Emma's bow always ends up over her eyes if I forgot to take it off in her car seat. She has figured out how to wiggle her head to make it come off. She was actually asleep under the bow.

Having 2 kids under 2 isn't the easiest. There are definitely days when I feel like they are both so needy all day long and I can't be everything they need to both of them when they need me. But then I look down and see this and my heart completely melts.

Hudson decided that Emma's blanket made a perfect cape. You should have seen the way he was walking around and looking behind him to see if it was waving.

Here is a perfect picture of showing Emma trying to sit up. She will lean forward as far as she can. This time she fell asleep doing it.

We had a few days last week where Hudson and I were both under the weather. I hate it when he is sick but I got a few extra snuggles. Thankfully for both of us it was just allergies and we are feeling much better now.

We got the jumperoo down from the attic for Emma and she LOVES it. Her poor feet can't reach the floor yet. And after I took this picture I realized it wasn't on the lowest setting so I lowered it. She still can't reach. :)

Anytime we bring out a "new" toy for Emma that Hudson played with as a baby he becomes so interested in it. I'm not sure if he remembers it (I doubt it) or if it's just something new to play with.

Some days it's just not worth the battle to finish putting clothes on before he goes and plays in the backyard.

Phew! As usual...we are staying busy but not doing a whole lot. I love our life right now though and wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

it's been awhile

I didn't really intend to take an almost 3 week break from blogging. These last few weeks have been wonderful. Spending lots of time together and loving on our 2 precious littles. Now that Emma is going to bed before Hudson (and sleeping all night!) John and I have our evenings back to ourselves. It's so nice to have 2-3 hours without kids before we go to bed every night. Instead of blogging, I've been enjoying time with him.

So, here's a massive photo dump of the last few weeks.

Every morning we spend about 30 minutes in bed watching Yo Gabba Gabba (or another show that Hudson requests). It's such a special time when all 4 of us are piled in there.

After Hudson's baths at night we let him run through the house naked and he LOVES it! Ha! We say, "naked baby!" over and over and he just runs faster and faster. This night in particular he went and got on his plasma car. He looked adorable riding around the house.

We've had a very mild start to 2013 and have gone on lots of walks. This was Emma's first time in the real stroller seat and not her carseat. I think Hudson loved being able to see her.

Emma in her adorable Pumpkin Butter Kids Valentine's day onesie. I ADORE this one!

Emma has become quite the wiggle worm in her sleep. She is sleeping 10-12 straight hours at night so she is never in the same place as where I put her.

Hudson was having his favorite meal here...black beans and green beans for dinner and a grapefruit for dessert.

Hudson is obsessed with puzzles lately. I love it when he brings one from his room to work on in the kitchen while I'm working on dinner.

We are really working on identifying animals and animal sounds right now. In this picture he was proudly calling a zebra a "bra!"

We tried Play Doh for the first time last week. Hudson was not sure what to think of it at first. I had to spend about 5 minutes telling him, "no, don't eat it" but then he finally got the hang of it.

We've been playing "ball ball" outside a lot. He is so cute when he hits the ball. It never goes very far but he always takes off running. Except he runs to get his own ball. We'll have to work on that part.

And Hudson in his adorable PBK shirt.

Following in her brother's footsteps, Emma rolled from her back to tummy before tummy to back. Although she HATES being on her tummy!

I had an adorable audience during my breakfast this week. I just love these 2 so much!

And this is what I call Emma's cheerleader smile. Her smiles are so big and infectious!

We spent some time at Lowe's yesterday on John's day off. We are finally getting around to redoing our bathrooms. The rest of our house was completed almost 2 years ago but we put off the bathrooms. John finished the floors in the kids' bathroom today but just has to grout and put the baseboards in. Then it's our bathroom next.

And gosh, this girl's eyes are GORGEOUS!

I think that's sufficient for now. ;)

iPhone pics from Christmas

On Christmas John and I took a nap when the kids did and we woke up to a white winter wonderland! This was my first white Christmas and so special that Emma's first Christmas was a white one.

This Noah's ark toy is one of Hudson's favorite presents!

Emma did this most of the time. The blanket she's sleeping on is actually a hooded bath towel from Pottery Barn Kids. It's SO stinking soft that I am using it as a blanket for now.

How Hudson knocks down his blocks.

iPhone rewind

Here's a quick post of the last few weeks with pictures from my iPhone.

Hudson has finally learned how to blow bubbles. He will put his face in the water and gets so proud.

His splashes are getting so big I end up pretty wet by the end of bath time.

One Sunday after church, we went to Schlotzsky's for lunch. They only had 1 high chair (which was already being used) so Hudson sat in a booster seat for the first time. He did great!

John gave me hydrangeas (my favorite) for our anniversary and they lasted for almost 3 weeks!

My drink of choice at Starbucks while I'm pregnant is an unsweet passion tea lemonade. Hudson is a huge fan too.

Playing with his BFF after his bath one night.

He's a big fan of boats. He calls them "bot" and sometimes "bopt"

John went fishing a couple of weeks ago and caught a ton of black drum and flounder. Our freezer is nice and stocked.

We dropped lunch off to John one day at church and during the less than 5 minute drive home Hudson fell asleep. Thankfully, we made the car seat to crib transition successfully and he took a 3 hour nap!

One of Hudson's birthday presents was this whacky ball toy. He loves to "smash" the balls. I'll say, "smash smash" and he will try to say it by saying, "nash nash."

I started drinking coffee last week. When I'm not pregnant, I have about 2 cups of coffee every morning. But when I'm pregnant I try to stay away from caffeine. Last week I couldn't do it anymore. Without the coffee I was needing a nap everyday. Now, I can make it through the day and get done things I need to do.

Hudson has his 4 top teeth, 4 bottom, and 4 molars but last week for some reason, he was going to town on Sophie. He hasn't chewed on her in 6 months!

That same day, finger sucking during the day. He only does this when he's getting tired before he goes down for a nap or bedtime. And in his sleep.

To celebrate not having gestational diabetes, I had an afternoon snack of red velvet cookies.

Just throwing all of the books and toys from his room, out into the hallway.

I heard screaming in the laundry room the other morning and went in to see this. (notice how there isn't much at all on our bottom shelves...Hudson likes to throw it all on the floor so we keep them empty now.

Alright, that's it for now. :)
