Color Play

Snail's Trail

Part 3

Today's post is a continuation of my last two posts. I want to see what different fabric color choices do to a Snail's Trail block.

What if all four spiral arms are different colors?
What if each arm is gradated from a light to a middle tone?
What if two blocks are combined rotated 180 degrees?
What if the combined blocks are then stacked?

What if two opposite spiral arms are browns, but one starts light and finishes dark, while the other start dark and finishes light?
What if the other two arms do the same thing only in greens?
What if four blocks are combined rotated to make a larger block?
What if four of the larger block are combined?

What if three spiral arms are brown and one is light gray?
What if the brown spirals gradate from light to dark but the starting squares three different tones so that the colors are shifted?
What if Four blocks are combined repeated to make a larger block?
What if four of the larger block are combined rotated?

What if two spiral arms are blues and two are taupes?
What if the spirals are gradated from dark at the center to light at the outside?
What if four blocks are combined reflected to make larger blocks?
What if four of the larger blocks are combined?

What if one spiral arm is two shades of green blue but the final piece is gray?
What if the spiral next to it is two shades of green but the final piece is gray?
What if the other two spirals are solid grays?
What if four blocks are combined rotated to make a larger block?
What if four of the larger block are combined?

To be continued.......

  1. Love the first one ... which is also last! I would be tempted to applique a snail in the centre of the combined block!

It certainly presents a frame that is just asking to be filled.

I like the idea if some fancy quilting. Perhaps a snail could be quilted in the space. That would be subtle, sophisticated and cute, all at the same time.
