Ornaments to REMEMBER!

Hello, to YOU!  All the lovers of bling and the GREAT Want2Scrap® thing!  It is I, Elise, & I bid you tidings of GREAT, blinged-out holiday joy and adorable memories!

For your holiday inspiration, I have assembled a handsome assortment of delightful Want2Scrap® products and goodies galore, to dazzle your crafty, scrappy side... So..., if you have the means, I recommend a large frothy cup of peppermint mocha and a notepad, uh, r, SHOPPING list....{!} You're gonna WANT2Scrap!  {LOL}

Scrapbook memories do NOT have to be confined to an album.  Why NOT celebrate some memories of the most WONDERFUL time of the year, right thar on ye old Christmas tree!  The most GLORIOUS time of year + Want2Scrap® bling = the MOST sparkly thing!  My job is to INSPIRE you to use PHOTOGRAPHS to embellish your holiday tree.

Start with photographs of your choosing, reduced by 50%, as shown...

Select Want2Scrap® Nestaboard shapes to become the foundation of your ornament, and then prepare background.  For the "boy" ornament, I busted out my old favorite, faux woodgrain, using a home decor wood-graining tool and acrylic paint, direct to Nestaboard.

Just apply paint, then drag the tool in one direction, gently, but firmly rocking the handle, to create this extraordinary, but easy wood grain effect.

Isn't THAT fun and purdy?   If you want to see more ideas on applying this technique, I hope you'll visit my post, here, where I share more detail into playing with wood grain!

For a girlier background - how about THIS fun paper from My Little Shoebox!

{Yum!}

With proper backdrop and STUNNING Nestabling®, ornaments are READY to shine!  Using Chipboard Sentiments, Words of Love, I had ALL the sentiment I could use, to illustrate HOW happy these memories make me!   J-O-Y is the word, and JOY is how I felt, embellishing these LOVELY letters with Designer Foil! I'm DEFINITELY feeling the L-O-V-E!

{OH MY GOODNESS!  Hi, there, Santa!  You're NICE!}

Can YOU feel the it, the sparkly the MAGIC of Christmas, blinged out with Want2Scrap®?

But, WAIT!  There's MORE!

Nothing calls for a lil' EXTRA sugar, like the holidays!  Lookee HOW glorious this word looks embellished with Sugar Shimmer, Fairy Dust Glimmer from Clearsnap!  I'm SO in LOVE, I have GOT to LAUGH!  {LOL}  Oh, THAT lil' girl makes me laugh, too.  She NEVER sat with Santa!  This is my FAVORITE picture, because the camera literally, caught her, mid BOLT off of Santa's lap!  Hard to fault a girl for NOT wanting to hang with a stranger in a red suit...  Sigh.  Memories!

Are YOU ready?  If you haven't liked us on facebook, I HIGHLY recommend giving Want2Scrap the big thumb's up!  You'll learn about our latest specials and HUGE opportunities for inspiration and sparkly delight, BEFORE the masses!  We ADORE sharing the brightness with you all!  Here's hoping YOUR holidays and filled with JOY and LAUGHTER and .... {wait for it...} LOTS and LOTS of BLING!  Merry, Merry!

Thanks, so MUCH for letting me SPARKLE for YOU!

Japanese Flare with Want2Scrap

Here we are again with yet another beautiful, creative album that you can only find right here at Want2Scrap! Have you seen all the different styles to choose from, well if you all have been following all the albums that I have been creating then you know how amazing the albums really are, just like this one right here.... the Gates of Love!

For the front of the album, I mixed Sakura Hobby Craft 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixer Shimmer Tanzanite powder and painted it on the front, then I used my heat gun to make it bubble. Once it was cooled I sanded the front with sand paper then sponged on some acryclic white and peony mixed to soften the color. But I'm not finished yet....it still didn't have the exact look i was shooting for so I took my trusty Clearsnap Chestnut Roan Fluid Chalk and did a little distressing...there that's what I'm talking about...DONE! Just add some Want2Scrap 72 Count Black Pearls and there you have it!
So by now you are saying wow what pretty paper this is well yes it is the new collection called Bird Song from Graphic 45 who just happens to be one of the Want2Scrap's Preferred Product Partners. Doesn't that look amazing with the Swirls Finesse Black Rhinestones from Want2Scrap?

Let's take a look throught the rest of the album pages, I hope you find some inspiration to create your own album.

Just look how beautifully the paper and the Want2Scrap bling coordinate.
You can hand trim pictures from your paper collections and ad bling to give them just the right amount of flare.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed this beautiful Japanese Flare chipboard album, remember it is the Gates of Love album and you can find it right here at Want2Scrap. Until next time... Crafty Smiles...

Once Upon A Bling Time!!!

So I am sure that everyone has been enjoying all of the new releases that Want2Scrap has designed for this new CHA release. I thought I would share one of their new amazing chipboard album, one of my personal favorites…..Lattice Chipboard Album!
This album was created using so many different types and styles of amazing BLING and guess what you can find them all right here at Want2Scrap…isn’t that so perfect.
For the cover of the album and my favorite part of the entire album, tulle was woven in between each of the Lattice slats and to make it pop even more, a Want2Scrap 72 Count White Pearls was placed in the middle of the Lattice X’s.
So grab a cup of coffee or tea because you are going to want to sit a while and take in each and every page, there is so much to look at, and you won’t want to rush.

Here is a close up of how the tulle was woven in between the lattice slats and then embellished with the Want2Scrap 72 Count White Pearls and Want2Scrap 72 Count Black Pearls

Making a 3-D "postcard"

I love vintage postcards!  There is something so delish about them and how rich and full of details they are.  Today's project is about recreating the look and feel of a vintage postcard but letting a few of the elements truly "pop" from the page...join me, won't you?

I started with Nestaboard Lattice Rectangles and painted it with white acrylic paint from EcoGreen and swiped on Clearsnap Colorbox ink in yellow ochre.  I also used a Bird on Branch die cut as a mask on vintage bookprint.  I sprayed different mists over the die cut including Caramel Latte Smooch Spritz from Clearsnap.  This mist was also used on the dimensional flower I made using the Dahlia die from Spellbinders and embellished with a button and 72 Count - White Pearls - Self Adhesive in the center.

The Chipboard Sentiments- Words of Love provided me with the perfect scripted word "joy".  This chipboard is easily embellished using Colorbox Chalk ink, white acrylic paint and Baby Bling Pearls White - 100 Count - 2.5mm.

This "postcard" is edged in Nestabling Lattice Rectangle Black & Silver Rhinestones that has been sprinkled with Sugar Shimmer from Donna Salazar.  The bird and branch has been embellished with a crown from the Designer Embellies - Mixed Media Elements (2 - Pack) and Clearsnap Smooch ink in lettuce on the leaves area of the mask.

The back of my "postcard" has been adorned with a simple graph designer paper and a postage inspired stamp.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Come back tomorrow for a tutorial on how to artfully package a card like this...hope to see you then...

A cupcake with a flower and bling twist!

Cupcakes are a wonderful way to celebrate birthdays and I am forever falling in love with new ways to "build" them on cards!  Today let's use Double Rose Ribbon White 1.5" and Beautiful Bling Borders-Fancy Waves! by Nina Brackett....

I tinted my rose ribbon using antique rose glimmer mist and glued a single rose strip to form the bottom layer of the "frosting" area.  I then added three more roses cut into individual pieces and layered to form the rounded top.  The bling border scallops are the perfect fit for the rose ribbon and provided that little something extra to the design.

A real birthday candle tops the cupcake and a hand tinted half doily gives this card an unexpected pop of lime green.  I kept it simple with a kraft cardstock card base and kept the focus on the sweet details of this floral and bling confection!

Today she thought she would fly... ATC by: Dana

Hello!  Today it's my absolute pleasure to share an ATC made with some gorgeous products from Want2Scrap and some of our Cross Promotional partners.  If you have been following recent posts here you may have detected a theme with all the gorgeous ATC's being posted and that there is something special brewing...you *may* be right!  Soon the details will be revealed!  Until then, I'd love to share some details on how I put together my ATC...

Today she thought she would fly.....There is something magical about the possibilities built into the small but mighty ATC.  I took one look at the gorgeous Wonderful Wings Bling from Want2Scrap® and Donna Salazar and the rest of the ATC came out in a flash!  I downloaded and printed the vintage photograph from online and adhered her to the Wonderful Wings bling after it had been mounted on cardstock and spritzed with glimmer mist.  To create the backdrop on my ATC I first painted the ATC in Chipboard (3 pack) with acrylic paint from EcoGreen Crafts.  I also misted a canvas from the ATC in Canvas (3-Pack) with glimmer mist.  Once the chipboard and the canvas dried, I was able to adhere the two using my sewing machine.  I adhered a floral 3D sticker from Michaels, glittered it and added some of the prettiest pearls around:72 Count - Pink Pearls - Self Adhesive.  I also added pieces of Funky Swirls- Black Rhinestones - Self Adhesive to the canvas and printed my sentiment on the computer using MS Word and a typewriter font.

Final touches were added with bits of cotton lace trim added to the top and bottom of the ATC and on the back, I created hanging mounts using 3-in-1 Advanced Crafter's Glue from Beacon and vintage "eye" pieces from a hook and eye set I had on hand.  A bit of twine strung through the eyes serves as a hanger to this tiny bit of inspiration.  She has been hanging above my crafting space ever since!  She could use a couple more ATC friends to hang out with I think.

One more shot to illustrate the incredible dimension and textures that were built into this ATC which goes to show, you can pack in a lot of juicy goodness no matter what the size of the canvas!  Have you tried your hand at an ATC lately?  I sure hope you will!

Thanks for coming by.  Until next time...

Nestaboard and Nestabling holiday ornaments

Hey there!  I love to make handmade photo ornaments for the Christmas tree every year.  Last weekend we had our annual backyard photo session for our holiday card and I was able to capture a cute one of my girls to use on a photo ornament.  This year, I was feeling paint-y, glitter-y and purple!  In order to accomplish the many layers of paint, glitter and glue I had in mind, I needed to turn to a quality chipboard base....Want2Scrap Nestaboard to the rescue!

To accomplish the shabby look I love, I began with a layer of acrylic paint from Eco Green Crafts.

An easy way to to get a peeled paint look is to lightly press your still wet painted piece onto a non stick craft sheet and then quickly lift it back up.  Presto!  Gorgeous shabby results!

To add a little purple to the mix, I used a watered down purple acrylic paint and dry brushed from the edges of the Nestaboard Labels Nine towards the middle.  I did these paint treatments on both sides of the Nestaboard.

Once my paint layers were dry, I applied Nestabling Labels Nine Purple Rhinestone to the Nestaboard and removed the top three purple bling from the Nestabling frame to accomodate the shanked snowflake button that I planned to insert through my crop-o-dile punched hole.  In addition to the Nestabling frame, I went to town with liquid glue, chunky glitter, fabric dimensional paint and fine glitter on the front of the ornament.

As you can see in the photo above, the button shank is available on the backside of the Nestaboard and can serve as a hanger for the ornament.

Despite literally 5 different layers of wet paint and glue Nestaboard holds its shape nicely without warping!  I love that!  The ultimate opportunity to go "shabby"!

My finished ornament has lots of happy sparkle...starting with the twinkle in my girls' eyes!

Remember how I removed three purple bling from the Nestabling in the step above?  I was able to use one of those available gems to add a custom purple touch to my button snowflake using Beacon Adhesives 3in1 Advanced Craft Glue

The frosty white frame was achieved with dimensional fabric glue in white pearl topped with micro glitter...very sparkly snow on a winter's morning.  It looks great against the purple Nestabling!

Another year of handmade photo ornaments in the books!  I love this creative tradition...I hope it inspires you to incorporate photos and Want2Scrap into your holiday art pieces as well.  Thanks ever so much for coming by today....I so appreciate it!!!
