Vegan Craft Sample Bags

The Vegan Craft Samples holiday bag is here! The bags have just been unveiled, and they're going fast, so you probably want to order yours today! What's in the bag? Any number of vegan samples from crafters and artisans all over the world. Of course many Vegan Etsy team members contribute to the bags, as well as a large number of other vendors. The only way to really know what it's all about is to get one of your very own and discover it for yourself!

Bags are available in small ($15), regular ($25), and large ($25) sizes. You can also purchase a "subscription" for 2011 and receive every bag that comes out throughout year.

Importantly - and as always - 100% of profits from the sale of the bags will go directly to support animals in need. Funds from this round of holiday bags are going to Joey's Feline Friends!

To find out more, stop by the Vegan Craft Samples website or facebook page!

Johnson Family Zoo

Welcome a new contributor to the gang! Johnson Family Zoo sent in some mini reusable produce bags, so cool!

I cant wait to shove mine in my bike bag and head to the grocery store, seriously, so many people forget about how wasteful those thin little produce bags are! I also love the little sandwich bags in their shop!

Pointy Paws

We received a wide array of items from Pointy Paws, including some awesome kits to make your own jewelry! Such a cool idea! These little kits intrigued me and I had to take another peek at their shop, they contributed in the past....but shops change, new items get added and my interest re-sparks! I absolutely love those little elephants!

Help Save 3 bulls from slaughter, allow them to live their entire lives!

Help Save 3 Bulls from Being Slaughtered
My friend Jodi of This Is It! Creations just found out that the 3 bulls who graze on their land were scheduled to be slaughtered today. They asked the owner if he would consider selling them the bulls instead and he has agreed. But he needs them to pay the full amount of $3600 in just under two weeks time.

These three are amazing animals. They have been named Pooka Cow (the brown one), Spotty Friend, and Less Spotty Friend. They are only 2 years old and have many more years of happy lives to live.

I will be donating 100% of all sales from my Holistically Heather store on etsy until 13th Feb 2010 towards these beautiful creatures.

Please help Jodi and her family save these boys through donations, networking and getting the word out to everyone you know.

Donate here:

Also, if you would rather mail a check, please send it to:

This Is IT! Creations
P.O. Box 1252
Jacksonville, OR 97530

Future of these animals? Jodi says, "We've been asked where the cows will go if we do raise enough money to save them - they will stay here, at least for the short term. We have 11 acres of land, a barn, and a stream. We are planning to create a line of products where all of the profits will go toward their care (hay, vet bills, fence mending, etc.) If we can find a loving family with enough land to adopt them, we are definitely open to that as well. :)"

Thank you in advance for all your help!

vegan math nerd, go figure!

3 things that I like: nerds, math, veganism. So this morning I decided to search for those things on etsy, and viola!

The first thing I found was a magnet that contained all 3 things, to my delight! This magnet from Sick on Sin is nerdy, has math (veggies > rotting flesh), and is related to veganism.

SCORE!

Upon further nerdery and searching I found a matching shirt from Sick On Sin, which I think is even nerdier, as you will be wearing it and displaying your dorkdum!

Every good nerd loves zombies, and Sick On Sin makes this super cute zombie pocket mirror!

Moodstone Ring Caught My Eye With this Indie Jewelry Artisan on Etsy!

The Jewelry Pitt may be new to etsy, but is certainly not new to jewelry making! With a degree in Jewelry Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, they already have experience under their little ole belt!

When I was seaching around etsy the other morning the Rainbow Moodstone Ring caught my eye, so I included it in a treasury that I did that day. But, my interest in the ring didnt just stop with the treasury, I have been looking at the ring just about everyday admiring it. Now, I feel that since I cant wear the ring (chubby fingers) I will share it with everyone here!

The Jewelry Pitt is just starting out on etsy, and still filling up their shop, but you dont want to miss out on this shop. Heart them and stop back often, as they plan to add new designs regularly!

Metal Cloth N Wood caught my eye with this glass pearl beaded collar, at first I didnt even realize that it wasnt attached to the shirt itself. Such a beautiful piece of handcrafted jewelry.

Veganessa

Show off exactly how you feel about animals with this cute little conversation starter!

Bold and blunt this bag will let everyone in the grocery line know exactly how you feel about animals and how they are treated.

Black tote bag with long handles. It is decorated with a poignant collage of pictures and words. The top part shows pictures of dead carcasses with words such as 'slaughter' 'heart disease' anti- meat words. The bottom part has colourful pictures of fruit and veg with words related to veganism and cruely free. In the middle there are pictures of daisies and the wording 'the choice is yours'. A very poignant message in words and pictures. The image is printed onto banner fabric. It is edged with black satin ribbon.

Veganessa also has another shop, Midnight Rabbits(which gives 100% of the stores profits to animal charities), is a member of Vegan Etsy Team, and also participated in our first Vegan Sample Bag!

Review of For My Kids

This review was written by: Pink Bubble

In my bag, from For My Kids I got this neatly packaged All Natural Comfrey Salve whose little size is seriously deceiving. Packed inside is this delicious balm to heal all sorts of bumps, bruises and bites. It smells SO much more fresh and better then balm I've used in the past and goes easily onto the skin. One of the kids I nanny is always managing to jump off something and hurt herself and has in just the few days I've had it demanded I give her more of the "cool slippery stuff" to put on.
Not probably what it was originally intended for, but my hands get all (yuck) cut up and bleed from Buffalo's winters and have been this way for MONTHS with nothing helping. Within 24 hours and just using it about 4 times my hands are smooth and cut-free! A few of my bike riding friends keep swiping the container from me too- I'll have to stop by and pick up some more!

Exciting!

Day by day we get closer to the first sample bags going on sale!! Tuesday is the day and we have some really great contributors this round! If you are interested in contributing samples for the next bag, please email me at ecosampler@yahoo.com for more info! We are also looking for the sponsor for the next bag, the cost is $30 (which goes straight to the sanctuary that is voted for that round) and you have your ad up from the day we sell out of this bag, until the day we sell out of the bag you are sponsoring...the second bag goes on sale in august, so that is a few months of exposure for only $30!! And it goes straight to the animals!!! The voting for sanctuaries only has a couple more days left and it is a really close call right now. We are also looking for folks who want to trade ad space on their blogs, websites, etc...please feel free to contact me if you are interested in that at all. I hope everyone is doing well, and I cant wait to get these sample bags in the mail!

After a lot of hard work and possibly losing half of my head of hair....the vegan samples website is up and functional!!! Any critiques and tips are appreciated, please email them to ecosampler@yahoo.com
It is getting very hectic and exciting on this end, getting all of the samples in the mail and getting them ready for the bags. The bags are almost all stitched now, and came out really nice. Please remember to vote for the animal sanctuary you would like to see the money go to! And under current contributors we have folks whose items we have already received up and ready to peek at!

Boxes we dont need no stinking boxes!

Today I got all of the flat rate priority boxes delivered to my doorstep! They seem pretty small, so we shall see, whether they are going to work out or not. I maybe just end up making my own funky boxes and painting them all pretty or something :) I will keep you posted. In other news we had 4 more people sign up yesterday! One person already has their ad up on the sidebar, welcome SkinEssentials

I am hoping to get the other ads within the next couple of days!

Things are moving along rather nicely here, I have most of the bags made and everyday I get more and more emails of people signing up to send in samples! I am hoping that this week I will start posting photos of items as I receive them. Please if you are interested in promoting your shop and helping out a good cause, email me. Follow our blog, vote on the sanctuary to which you would like to see the money go, and post about us, spread the word.

10 people signed up, already!!!

So far we have 10+ crafters/artists signed up to send in promotional samples for these bags!  How exciting!  Please feel free to check out the folks with ads to the right, all of those people are sending in promo items for our first vegan sample bag!!!!!
So, what is next?  Well I need to get my bootie movin and start sewing all of the reusable grocery bags together, and getting them ready!  We are hoping to have enough samples for 50 bags the first time around, so that means I have some sewing on my hands.
What else could you ask for, all vegan samples from many different shops, and to top it off a nice reusable grocery tote!
Thats all the update I have for now
Oh yeah and check us out on myspace
Everyone who sends in samples will also be put on our top friends on myspace to gain exposure that way too!!  Email me with any questions.
