To look at the conflict in Iraq as anything other than a problem created by our arrogant government for their own profit is more than a little naive. President Bush and his friends created this war from a pack of lies, and and THAT is the basis for the anti-war movement, (well, that and the fact that we're stuck in an endless war that is being incredibly mismanaged) NOT that "we have brought the wrath of Islamofascism upon ourselves", though invading a sovereign nation in the middle of territory controlled by Islamofascists probably didn't help us any.
We did not have to invade a country that had NOTHING to do with us being attacked in order to protect ourselves as much as possible from Islamofascists. Screening Visa applicants a little more vigilantly, making sure our boarders are secure, slowly withdrawing our unconditional support for Israel, reducing our dependence on oil, and staying the hell out of their territory would have been a good start. And a better way to Support the Troops.
And one more reason for the Anti-War Movement:

26,588 US Soldiers have been wounded in Iraq
What is the reason we are expending the lives of those who have offered to give them so freely for their nation?

The irony is that last week at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Karl Rove explained why the Pentagon, at the last minute, aborted a mission in Pakistan that could have captured senior Al Qaeda leadership... His reason? Because we couldn't conduct combat operations in a sovereign country without their permission!!! Can you believe that horseshit?? Olbermann has a video of it on his website - the audience actually started laughing at Rove when he said that.
It's likely a response to Christofascism in US foreign policy.
Okay, let me start off by saying that after your nastly little display, I don't really feel the need to explain anything to you. I the spirit of the all-forgiving Christ, though, I will respond.
If you'll note, in no way did I imply that the US is RESPONSIBLE for Islamofascism, just that our invasion of Iraq and our constant meddling in Israeli affairs hasn't done anything to help the situation. I don't know that anyone can EXPLAIN Islamofascism around the world. It is present and must be dealt with.
The Islamofascists believe that a Holy War is not only inevitable, but hat they are duty-bound to Allah to wage that war. I would say that many people believe that due to a severe lack of education, so one way to combat it might be to build schools, not bomb them.
Also, many people turn to religion in order to replace something they do not have in their own lives. They do it because they are poor and need somethign to believe in, or hungry and need to know they are not suffering in vain. So, another possible solution might be to help those people alliviate the problems leading them into sucide bombing, terrorism, and Islamofascism so that 72 virgins doesn't look as good as the food, shelter, education, and other necessities they're being provided with here on Earth.

One would think, but Christofascism is more of a domestic problem in the states, South, and Central America. Our problems overseas are more foreign economics (whom we choose to help, what we choose to buy, to whom we choose to sell to) and foreighn relations (we don't speak their language or understand their culture, yet we insist that our ideas are better and MUST be imposed).

Another question I have for the anti-war people is what will happen if we pull out "now" (again, I don't want to put words in your mouth - does "now" mean sometime by end of year, mid year next year, immediately, etc?)? Please discuss WHEN you think the troops should be completely out of Iraq and what you feel the country would look like at that time...

I don't think Tomcat sugested tha they haven't been killing themselves and others for year, just that we also have christofascists, and that they haven't really helped the situation lately. Or ever.
As to your queston, I probably haven't been focusing as much on a pull-out srategy as I should be, but I definitely thing the UN should be involved. We created a huge mess, and now we have to deal with it, but we cant BE there to do that. They hate us too much. My focus has mainly been on finding out WHY we're there, because the reasons we've been given have been lis. If you'd like to do a series of posts on various exit strategies and the pros and cons for each, I'd welcome them from you or anyone who has researched this information. No matter what we do, it will be a disaster and Iraq will descend into chaos. George Bush and Dick Cheney need to be held responsible for destroying 2 countries (Iraq and the US) and sending our men and women to war for lies.

Don't get me wrong. Al Queda is a genuine threat against which we must guard, but the way to strarve them of most of theur new recruits is to stop acting like an international bully in support of corporate imperialism.

1. Hate the use of Islamofascism, doesn't even exist, amde up by white people and is not a good phrase to use.
2. The Surge seems to eb working if the aim is more dead people.
3. Keep the troops there, fix the damn situation before it bites you on the ass.
