SU! Occasions Mini Catalog Highlights

From Adriel:

I sat down with my mom in December for a preview look at the SU! Occasions Mini catalog (we got to order early because she's a demo). I have to tell you that this SU! Occasions Mini catalog is one of my favorites in A LONG time! I loved so many things in it. We loved so many things in it. We couldn't buy everything we loved, so we had to choose what to buy... well, maybe we "could", but we didn't need to. ;-)

So here's some highlights from the SU! Occasions Mini Catalog:

Build a Blossom stamp set
(pg. 12 wm 121923 $25.95 cm 121994 $18.95)

Isn't this lovely? You can do a lot of lovely stamping with this set, but check out our next highlight to see something really wonderful about this set!

Blossom Petals Punch
(pg. 12 121808 $16.95)
This punch coordinates with the Build a Blossom stamp set! Isn't that awesome! No need to hand-trim the petals. They just punch out.

Take a Spin stamp set
(pg. 10 wm 121937 $28.95 cm 122015 $20.95)
This is such a fun stamp set. In addition, also on page 10, you will notice "game spinning hands." Yes, you actually put a little spinner in the middle of the stamped image! It is so cute, and the coordinating 2-1/2" circle punch on page 11 (120906 $16.95) make this a super easy and delightful stamp set to create with.

Springtime Vintage DSP
(pg. 15 121782 $9.95)
I was so excited when I saw this beautiful paper! I have been waiting for some DSP that I was really in love with. This was it! We bought 3 packs of it, I think! LOL!

Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
(pg. 28 121809 $7.95)
This makes an instant delightful border around the edge of a standard A2 card. It's very pretty and is perfect for adding a bit extra to your projects without a lot of effort.

Sweet Buttons Embosslit Die
(121813 pg. 36 $11.95)

Now you can add that button in whatever color/design you like! This embosslit cuts and embosses at the same time. Plus, there's a coordinating stamp set that goes with this.

We were also thrilled to find out that the Springtime Vintage DSP is available as a My Digital Studio download, among other downloads from this catalog. So cool!

So, there are definitely many more highlights that we weren't able to buy highlight, but you can take a look at this wonderful catalog for yourself by clicking HERE.

We've been making projects with our new goodies and will be back to share them with you soon! =)

How about you? Have you been able to pick out just one favorite out of the new SU Occasions Mini catalog? =)

January Sneak Peek!

Did you miss us having classes during December? Even if you did, I doubt many of you probably had the time to come even if we had planned classes, right?! Even without the classes this month, December flew by like that! We've been working, though, on new ideas and projects and we're looking forward to a new year of creating with you!

One of the things we are planning on working on this coming year is getting our own website up and running! We want to be able to offer card kits online for our readers who want to make the cards we teach but don't live near by. We are also entertaining the idea of doing some videos. All of this will take time and is probably months (maybe even a year) down the road, but we thought we'd share what we're throwing around as possibilities this next coming year.

I promised you a sneak peek and I'm going to deliver! One of our January classes will feature handmade flower embellishments. We will be teaching you how to make 3 different kinds of flower embellishments. You can view our newsletter for dates and times for this class, which is called Creative Cardmaking: Flower Embellishments. It should be a lot of fun! Here's one of the cards we will be making.

Don't you love it? Those flowers are so dainty and lovely. =)

That's the sneak peek for today! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We're looking forward to the New Year!

Masked Reject

From Adriel:

Okay, so I've been working on cards for a masking technique class (which I think is in August). This is one of the cards that didn't make the cut for the class. It's not that it turned out bad or anything, it is just too time-consuming. When my mom and I plan for classes, some of our ideas are great except for the fact that they would take way too long with a larger group of people. Anyway, I thought I would share it because it did come out cute. =)

For the masking on this card, what I did was cut out a few leaves using my Big Shot and the Little Leaves die cut out of computer paper. I adhered these leaves to my card front with temporary adhesive in the desired locations. Then I misted the card front with a shimmer mist mixture that I added a few drops of Old Olive reinker to. I guess you could call that Tinted Shimmer Mist! =) Let it dry for a minute or two and then remove the Little Leaves die cuts. From there I added a stamped sentiment from the Fresh Cuts stamp set, added some little flowers using the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set and Punch Pack and Melon Mambo ink, and finished the little scene with a few cute little butterflies using the Beautiful Wings embosslit die.

Masking Tip: Most of the time with masking, you want to use thin paper such as computer paper, because then your edges on the masked section are more crisp.

Make your own Tinted Shimmer Mist: Mix a small amount of alcohol, a few drops of shimmer paint, and a few drops of ink in the color of your choice in a small spray bottle, such as a travel hairspray bottle. Shake and mist away!

I'm looking forward to the Open House in honor of the new Stampin' Up! catalog at my mom's house this weekend! I'm sure I'll be seeing some of you there and I'll have the baby with me, so you can see her too. =)

Cya! =)

Razzle Dazzle Misting

From Adriel:

A few weeks ago my mom tried a new technique with stamping called "Misting w/ Markers". We're going to be doing a class in October called "In the Mist" and so I played around with the technique and loved the results! I think this technique is my new favorite! =) The results remind me of watercolor or something and I love the effect. Here's a card I made using the Razzle Dazzle set and the Misting w/ Markers technique. It adds droplets to the image that make it look so unique. I used Crushed Curry Textured CS and just had fun with the bright, bold colors!

Anyway, this is one of the cards we will be creating with our students for this class. If you'd like to join us, you can register for the class through Breaktime HERE. The class is called "In the Mist". We're going to have a great time and I know that this technique will bring out "ooohs and aaahs"! =D

Kayla's Turn

From Adriel:

Of course, the Kayla girl has to have a turn sharing her Build-a-Bear card! =) Again, I can't move my pics... very annoying (wonder if it will ever work normally again?). Anyway, Kayla made this card as a "window card". She said she had been dreaming about making one. (I guess she's already a card-making addict!) I had to help her with the coluzzle and cutting out the square, but she did the rest. She dimensioned the white cardstock behind the frame. She even embossed the bear! I'm not kidding you, she's really into card-making! =D

We had a nice lunch today and I have to correct myself... the place was called "The Olive Mill" not "press", like I thought. We ate lunch outside... it was a bit too warm, but they had misters and we sat fairly close to those so it was alright outside. The food was different, but it was tasty and that is fun to try something new and have it be yummy. =) Forgot the camera, so no pics! Sorry!

My mom and I are just busy working away at our little business! Yesterday I created a couple cards for a class in November... I know that seems far away, but having it done ahead of time gives you time to keep creating and is also nice for ordering. Because we order most of our supplies through Stampin' Up!, we have to have our projects planned at least a couple of weeks ahead of time to allow for delivery of our supplies. We have a white board with the upcoming classes over the next few months listed, and it really helps to plan and create. My mom is a pretty organized person and I'm blessed to be working with her, because I'm not naturally organized. I really do appreciate organization and I just need to practice it more. =)

I guess the only other thing to add to this post is that we have been included in a fun treasury on Etsy called "Funky Fresh and Fun". Be sure to check it out by clicking HERE! =)

Have a wonderful Wednesday! =)

I've Been Creating!

From Adriel:

In the last post that I authored, I was expressing my feelings of missing being creative. Well, I've had some time this past week to do some creating and I've really enjoyed it! My mom and I have a fun event planned for our stamping friends next month that will include smoothies, gift tags and Bunco! All the details are going to be in September's newsletter, so look for that on our blog soon!

I've been working on an assortment of gift tags and have just been playing around with some ideas. The one above I made using the new set, Charming, that will be available to order on Sept. 1st out of the Mini Catalog. I really like this set and the mini medallion that I used on this tag. I have more tags to show you, but blogger is acting up again and won't let me move my pictures around. They all get stuck at the top! I'll have to save the others for another time. Anyway, happy Saturday to you and thanks for stopping by! =)

Too Busy to Create...

From Adriel:

Sadly, it's true! It's not that I wouldn't like to be creating. Sometimes there are just those seasons in life that aren't condusive to a "creative" outlet. But I must express and confess that I've been missing being creative.

My husband and I own a Tropical Smoothie Cafe restaurant in Tempe, AZ. (If you live nearby or visit the area, stop by and say "hi" sometime!) I have been helping out at the store more than in the past. Don't get me wrong, 1 or 2 days a week for a few hours isn't all that bad. The work there and interracting with the crew and keeping my feet wet in the operations can be enjoyable at times, even! Somehow, though, creating a smoothie or a wrap or sandwich just doesn't satisfy my creative side. The closest thrill I get in "creating" there is adding something different to a smoothie recipe, or putting a King Caesar on a flatbread. I must admit that it was quite exciting today when a lady called 10 to noon wondering if her catering order was on its way for a delivery at noon... we thought we were delivering it at 1pm! Talk about a major food fight as we feverishly assembled 40 sandwiches in as little time as possible. Exciting may not be quite the right word in that instance... stressful is a better description. =P I don't know exactly how this story fits in with what I'm trying to say, but I just had to share that! LOL!

I'm looking forward to some time coming up soon to create again. That being said, I wanted to share some fun ideas I've seen using the new Medallion stamp from Stampin' Up! We just recently got this stamp and have yet to play with it! Enjoy the ideas! =)

Sunbeam Note Cards

From Adriel:

Kristina Werner showed an awesome tutorial on her blog about a paper crafting technique that was so inspiring! When I saw it, I wanted to make it! The Razzleberry Lemonade DSP from Stampin' Up! worked beautifully for this technique and I love the cards!!!

I didn't follow her instructions completely, as I did not overlap any of the paper. I wanted to get as much as I could out of the paper I cut. What I ended up doing was cutting 4 different patterns the size of the card stock backing I intended to use. I made little marks on my card stock backing where I wanted the paper "beams" to go and I then put my DSP squares over the card stock backing and made pencil marks in the same places. I then used a ruler and a hobby blade to cut at each mark. I ended up with 4 "beams" out of each DSP square. I then arranged these on card stock backing, making sure I got my paper beams as close together as possible so there were no gaps. I thought this turned out great and I didn't end up wasting any paper and actually ended up with 4 cards instead of 1!! =D Anyway, had to share because I love them!! =D

These cards and a couple other items from our Etsy shop were featured on DutchTouchBeads blog today! A big thanks to Jenni!! You can find the feature about us on her blog HERE! Go visit them and get a peek at their jewelry! =)

What We've Been Working On...

From Adriel:

My mom and I have been busy working on samples and projects for upcoming classes we will be teaching. We have a Christmas in July class coming up at the end of this month through our city's Park & Recreation program... we just need a couple more people to sign up and then I think the city will run the class. Otherwise, it will be cancelled. For this class we are doing 10 cards, 5 different designs. We only have 2-1/2 hours for the class, so my mom and I really had to keep the cards basic and simple, but still looking good and interesting! =) Here's one of the cards we will be making at this class, inspired by THIS CARD on Splitcoast:

We have a fun summer-themed project class planned for August. My mom tried out a super cute lemonade card that looks like it was a lot of fun to make. I think our attendees will LOVE it!! In keeping with the summer theme, I thought this popsicle card would be a fun addition to the class. So cute!! =)

We got a box of new goodies from Stampin' Up! a few days ago... we've hardly had very much time to do much with it. I did use a few things out of the new stash, among them the Razzle Dazzle stamp set. I made some really nice background paper with that set and I'm thinking I will do a tutorial on that. =) Don't have a picture of it yet, so you'll just have to take my word for it that it came out looking pretty nice! =D

What have you been up to? Share your recent or current projects that you're working on! =)

Razzleberry Celebrate

From Adriel:

I made this card before I left for my family vacation, but never got around to photographing it before I left.

I thought it came out okay, but it could have been better. I haven't been doing very well creatively lately, so the few cards I've made recently I haven't been very pleased with. Grrrr! =(

We did a class recently where we used the Daisies Flower #2 die on the Big Shot and I thought the cut-out that was left over would make a nice stencil to fill in with sponging. So that's what I did!

The colors for this card are Rich Razzleberry (new in-color available July 1st), So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White. I used the Top Note die, the Matchbox die and the Matchbox messages stamp set. Added a light yellow button and some Whisper White taffeta ribbon. Pretty simple and a great way to use the negative die-cuts! =)
BTW, I think this new Rich Razzleberry is going to be my favorite new in-color! I'm so glad they gave us a new purple to play with... we needed one!

What We've Been Working On...

From Adriel:

My mom and I worked on 3 of our coupon organizers Tuesday. We got the covers all done and ready to assemble the rest together!

We recently got some new designer paper from Stampin' Up!, so it was fun to break it out and work with it. We will have these new organizers done and in our Etsy shop SOON!! =)

This one is made with the Bella Birds DS paper... soft and sweet! =) And I love that beautiful, blue, satin ribbon that adds to the elegance.

This one is also made with the Bella Birds DS paper... almost has a little western look to it. My ribbon needs a little work... =P

This one is made with the Urban Garden DS paper... so striking and gorgeous!

Who knew coupon organizers could be so stylish and fun!?!?!

Thanks for stopping by! We enjoy all your comments! =)

Another Mother's Day Card

From Adriel:
My mom showed you the Mother's Day cards she made last week and I wanted to share one of the cards I made as well.

I used THIS CARD LAYOUT that I showed you last week sometime. I simply made the card horizontal instead of vertical and it gives the card a totally different look! I did this primarily to fit my sentiment on the card stock, which was quite a bit wider than the sentiment I used on the original card layout. This way, the sentiment fit and I just moved the flowers as well. =)
I love the pink and the Bella Rose designer paper on this card and our free stamp set, Polka Dot Punches, that we got during Sale-a-Brations looks great. I also heat embossed the sentiment, so it's slightly raised and shiny.
On a slightly different note, the new Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog is out and they have this adorable new die for the Big Shot! You can see what I'm talking about by clicking HERE (and go to page 16). Beyond cute, right?! There's even a couple stamp sets that coordinate with this die... doubly cute! Well, we don't have a Big Shot, so it would be kind of hard to use, ya know what I mean? (BTW, my birthday is May 5th, and I'm going to put aside my birthday mula towards a Big Shot.) My mom and I did get the Oval All set along with the new Scallop Oval Punch and the Walk in the Park designer paper and we are enjoying those! In fact, for our SAS and Stamp Club this month, we'll be using some of that new paper and the new stamps and punch, so you don't want to miss it! You can check our newsletter for the dates and times for these events.

Anyway, more to share with you later! Thanks for checking in and have a great day! =D

Rustic Thanks Card

From Adriel:

I hope you all had a great weekend! Our weekend flew by so fast! Yikes!

Here's a card that I made several months ago. I've never posted it on here, so here it is!

I've been working on some fun Valentine cards, but I can't show them to you, because they're made with new stamps and materials that cannot be posted until after Dec. 23rd. So, I'm waiting until then. You're going to love the Valentine bundle Stampin' Up! put together! It's darling! I hope that you can make it to our Valentine Treasures class we will be doing after the first of the year. More details about that later! Stay tuned...
