Cute MDS Downloads

I don't usually post the new My Digital Studio weekly downloads, but the downloads for this week are really cute! If you're going to be doing any canning or making berry jam this summer, the "Creatively Yours" digital stamp set would be great for making your personalized labels and the "Summer Happiness" digital kit would be perfect to create a girly scrapbook...hmmm, I'm thinking about that one for myself.
FYI...every Tuesday new MDS downloads are available. Visit MyDigitalStudio.net to view the catalog and other recent downloads.
If you're new to digital stamping, you can give My Digital Studio ExpressFREE 30-day trial.

Christmas Themed Piano Hinge Book

My blog share today doesn't really qualify as a Digital December share, although it does include a few digital embellishments.
My stamping friend, Susan, had made a Piano Hinge Book several months ago and she generously offered to show me how to make one. So with her help and time, this is what I made. I chose a Christmas theme because last year she'd given me a Christmas designer paper kit (she does spoil me...she's also been known to drop by Fudgy Wudgy fudge), which I'd planned on using to make a scrapbook, but it just never happened.
This little book was just too much fun to make...really! I added little pockets, printed up some cute My Digital Studio embellishments, and I even did some macrame (I was shocked that I even remembered any knots...I used to make macrame jewelry with puka shells way back in the 70's).
It's been great to have the book already finished because as I'm going through the 2011 Christmas season I'm able to take pictures and journal as I go along. I always think about doing a scrapbook AFTER an event or special occasion, but I have to say that having a book already prepared allows you to think about the pictures you want for each page and the journaling has come easy because I'm drawing from current memories and thoughts. I'll have to remember this for any future books I make.
These pages will be perfect for pictures of our Gingerbread House. I'll blog and post pictures of the Gingerbread House in the near future, but all I can say about the house right now is...Wow!
Susan and I brainstormed about different themed Piano Hinge books we could make. We both thought a recipe book would be darling.
I just have to say that it's fun to have a blog...I love posting pictures of things I'm excited about and sharing it here in the blogging world. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Pretty Pink Baby

Here's another calendar page that I'm sharing from the Digital Calendar I created using My Digital Studio. I went with pinks and white for my color choices and used the Upsy Daisy stamp for the bottom bordering flowers. Cute pictures, cute papers, cute stamps all made for an easy page design.

Thanks for taking time to stop by!

A Bright Digital Birthday Page

If you just popped in, my theme for this month is Digital December because I'm sharing pages from the Digital Calendar I've been creating using My Digital Studio.

Today I'm sharing a bright and cheery birthday page. I chose my theme and colors based on the photos I had. Colors: Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Blue (don't know off hand which color blue I used), one of the Digital Kits that is included with My Digital Studio along with several stamp sets. I had a lot of fun designing this page...lots of fun colors!

It's a Digital December

This month I'll be sharing pages from the Digital Calendar I've been working on. I've been using My Digital Studio to create my calendar and have enjoyed getting a chance to use some features of the program that I hadn't tried out before. I haven't printed my calendar yet, I still have pictures I need to edit and add to my projects before I'm ready to print, but all the design work is finished. When I finally print it, I'll share a picture of the printout. I'm kind of excited about printing out the pages because I'll finally get a chance to use my birthday present, my Cinch binding tool...woohoo!
This has been a fun project to work on, not only creatively, but it's been enjoyable to go through photos and their memories.I'm still deciding on the order of the pages, so I won't be sharing them in any particular order. I thought I'd share how I go about designing a scrap page. I know that staring at a blank page and trying to design a 12-month calendar is a little daunting, so before I opened up my blank page, I tried to have some kind of idea/theme for each page and figured out which photos I wanted to use. Then I chose my page colors based on the predominant colors in the photos. When I would hit a blank on an idea for a page layout, I'd visit a couple of layout sites to get inspired, there are a ton of inspiring ideas that other creative people have shared on their blogs and on the web.

Looking through my photos helped me choose the theme "sisters" for this page. I used the colors in the girls' clothing for my page colors - Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Lovely Lilac and Old Olive. My layout is pretty simple - several rows of borders behind a designer paper photo mat. I added a couple of 5-petal punched flowers and leaves from one of the digital stamp sets. Then I placed some embellishments to the flower centers and chose a cute font for the "Sisters...Sweet" words. That's it in a nutshell! I'll share more pages throughout the next several weeks.
I hope that you have a great day!

Something Different

I hardly ever share any Scrapbook pages. It's probably because I don't have many to share, although I do love creating scrapbooks, especially the little mini scrap albums. My dream is to sit down for a month and just scrap away and create a wonderful book of memories.
Anyway, in May 2010 I gave a baby shower for Adriel and one of the shower activities was to create a Baby Scrapbook for her. All the sweet ladies that came were given a page that Adriel and I had designed, cut and prepped...all they had to do was copy the picture we'd taken and put their pages together. We had a great time and within an hour, her whole scrapbook had been made. All that was left was for her to add pictures and journalling. She came over a few weeks ago to pick up the album so that she could place pictures she's been taking of Allie (who BTW,  is just over a year old now) into the album. I had forgotten how cute the scrapbook had turned out. Today I found a 3 more scrapbook pages tucked in a drawer (why? I don't know!), so I thought that I'd share them here with you over the next few days. Maybe you'll be inspired to do a little bit of scrapbooking yourself. I know that I was inspired again :-)
The page above is all Stampin' Up! I used My Digital Studio to create the DSP background and added the "little cutie" sentiment, which I printed out. The little pink bird is also a digital stamp from MDS. I believe the colors I used (it's been awhile) are Garden Green, So Saffron, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink (maybe it's Pink Pirouette), and Whisper White. Punches: Scallop Edge, Scallop Circle, Boho Blossom, 1/2" circle, Corner Rounder.

Thanks so much for dropping by.

My Digital Studio Contest Reject #3

From Adriel:

To see my other submissions for the My Digital Studio contest, click HERE and HERE. =)

So here is my last (rejected) submission for the contest. I took a chance with this one, as the requirements were 1 card and 2 layouts. This might not have met SU's idea of "layout", but I wanted to think outside the box. It was a layout in my mind.

This is a weekly menu planner. We will actually be making a real one of these that looks almost the same at one of our upcoming classes. I'm looking forward to that! =)

So I have now shared my failures rejects submissions. ;-)
I hope you enjoyed them.

Which one was your favorite?
Leave me a comment to let me know! =)

Have a great day and thanks for visiting our blog.

My Digital Studio Contest Reject #1

From Adriel:

A couple of months ago, Stampin' Up! announced a contest using My Digital Studio. I decided to try my hand at it and submitted 3 projects for the contest. The winners have been announced and I wasn't one of them... haha. Regardless, making the projects got me using My Digital Studio and I came away with more experience and a better understanding of how to use the program. I put a bit of time and effort into my projects, so I thought I would share them on the blog. For a complete list of the MDS contest winners, click HERE.

I know I have 2 other children, but something about a baby just begs for a scrapbook page all their own! You know what is sweet? My older kids are not jealous of their baby sister at all. They adore and love her to death and think she is the cutest. I'm so blessed to have such great kids. =)

Thanks for taking time out of your day to share it with us. We hope your week is going great. Come visit us again!

My Digital Studio Thank You Card

From Adriel:

My son's birthday was in August. Thank you cards have been on my "to-do" list. I'm obviously a tad bit (okay, A LOT!) behind on my list for a variety of reasons. I originally thought I would show him how to design one on MDS, but that just hasn't happened. Time just keeps flying by and these just need to get done (before the end of the year)! So, I made the card on MDS and thought I would share it with you. It's simple and nothing fancy, but it's something to share. My son requested that they be appropriate to give to a boy or a girl. I think this fits the bill. =)

How about you? On average, how long does it take you to get a thank you card out?

My Digital Studio Share

From Heidi...We're sharing our first published My Digital Studio creation...It's a digitally designed cover for a cookbook binder we're putting together. Adriel and I sat down yesterday and within a half-hour had designed this together. (I don't know what it is about the times that we design together, but we definitely get a lot done in a short amount of time...I guess it's true that two heads are better than one). All I can say is that it was fun! And for our first attempt at something like this, I was very pleased with the results. I can't wait to try it out on other projects.Hope this cheery recipe cover brightens your day. Thanks for looking!

Girly Girl Page

From Adriel:

I gave digital scrapbooking a try today. I've seen a lot of people doing this lately and decided to have some fun with it today. I did a page for my daughter Kayla. What do you think?

I found a site that offers free downloads and everything I used on this page was from a kit that I downloaded for FREE. The site is called Free Digital Scrapbooking. It was a lot of fun and after figuring out how to save each file properly to be able to use it in my photo editing software, it was fairly easy to use. You will need some sort of photo editing program to do digital scrapbooking. There's all kinds of software out there. I have Microsoft Digital Image Pro and use it a lot. I use it to edit the photos that I upload to this blog. It has a lot of nice features and is easy to use. It worked great today for this digital scrap page.

Anyway, something different to show you today. No stamping involved at all, but still creative and fun! Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day!
