Snapshots of Revelation

ting:

having the eagles serenade me, LIVE in concert, was absolutely surreal. to put it mildly, it was a dream come true.

proof we were there.

hands down the best concert i've ever been to. we became teenagers again for a night and screamed at the start and end of every single song they sang. we couldn't help it, especially when they were doing a whole heap of our favourite songs.

boys of summer. lying eyes. best of my love. take it to the limit. i can't tell you why. waiting in the weeds. i don't want to hear anymore. no more cloudy days. desperado. long road out of eden.

when the strains of hotel california filled the air, the crowd went wild. and when Timothy B. Schmit started on love will keep us alive, we swooned, melted and then sang along.

i never knew what a huge fan i was until last night when i realised i knew every single song they performed.

two standing ovations later, we came to the unanimous agreement. the next time they come, we will get front row seats. regardless of how much they cost.

no prizes for guessing what i'd be listening to for the next couple of days ;)

ting:

as my colleague puts it, i live in the dinosaur age of candy bar phones that have number keypads and the inability of connecting to the internet. (and i stubbornly like it that way.)

so yesterday, when i got my new company phone - an android - i had no idea how to use it. it took a little exploring and many failed attempts at getting the touchscreen to detect my jabbing (colleague: "it is a TOUCHscreen! not a POKEscreen!") before i figured what did what. but the one thing i could not find was the "delete messages" option.

so. i unfolded the handphone manual. and started poring over it. (*cue for all guys reading this to laugh*)

colleague 1: *walks by, stops and gasps* oh my gosh! i've never seen anyone read a HANDPHONE manual!!!
me: >< but i can't figure out how to delete my messages!
colleague 2 (aka colleague sitting next to me who has to put up with a lot of my "how do you get a mac to do this and that" questions): well, she's a girl! =P

and because news spreads, the whole office now know i read manuals (just today, the business development vp brought it up again during our team meeting ><).

my photography instructors (the male ones too!) would beg to differ. they constantly harp on the importance of reading our camera manuals so we will be fully aware of all it is capable of, so we can fully utilise all that it has been designed to do. any less and the camera isn't living up to its potential.

the same goes with life. we can fumble around in the dark, explore the various options that come with choices, make mistakes, end up at square one unable to find the "delete messages" button and live a fraction of the abundant life God has called us to live. or we can go read our manual (ie. the bible) and see for ourselves all our Creator has designed us to be.

only then will we be aware of our full potential in Him. only then will we be able to live the life of abundance He has ordained us to live.

laugh all you want. i will still read my manuals. :)
