(this post was originally written a month back, when i was fasting.)

john 11:1-44 talks about the death of lazarus, and how, on day 4 of his death, Jesus resurrected him.

john 11:21 - 22

21"Lord," Martha said to Jesus, "if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask."

as i found out in the early stages of my fast, it is one thing to have faith whilst your dream is on life support, and another ball game altogether to have it dead and six feet under.

martha knew her brother was dead, but even then, she knew of God's unlimited power.

when something dies in the physical realm, would you still believe in His power to resurrect?

john 11:40

40Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?"

(two things struck me today.)

you may have to die a thousand deaths before you see that promised resurrection come to pass.

but one thing's for sure. it's never over till God says it is.

multi-tasking is keeping an eye on the wimbledon homepage for the first round of men's singles live scores (xhinny got me hooked), half watching the switzerland chile match (which is a little dull after all the portugal excitement prior), blogging, trying to wiggle out of 7am tennis games and failing to score a lunch treat.

and my mum is officially in love with cristiano ronaldo. and maybe portugal, to a lesser degree.

the world cup is taking over my life :( every single time someone asks “hey, are you free for lunch/dinner/gym/shopping/games/meetups on this day at this time”, i automatically reach for the match schedule. even some of our meetups are world cup centered! (case in point, i’m finally meeting peio sometime next week, the first time i’ve seen her this year. and we’re heading off somewhere to catch the day's matches, using only half time to grumble about work. hai!)

even my blog posts and facebook status are world cup related! T_T

i think i'll lose all my friends (those who aren't interested in world cup at least) by the time the title has been won :(

world cup is in ONE day!!! xDDDDD

thank God all the tv series i was hooked on have ended their run. i don't think i can handle watching the world cup on top of all that. i've been watching so much tv it's ridiculous... it's as if i'm trying to make up for the 4 years of not tuning in to the big black box whilst in aussie.

and on a totally random sidenote... my computer reads hebrew, but not chinese T___T i can even copy and paste hebrew. see! את!

quoted from a friend's facebook status:

"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."— Marilyn Monroe

how true. at least for me. describes (almost) all of me. e bad points. haha :P

John 6:11-13

11Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.

12When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted." 13So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.

His supply is always more than our demand :)

at 2.30pm, my boss called for an urgent meeting. long story short, we (or namely, i) have to get a presentation for a major potential client out by tomorrow, and present it to a group of approximately 15 people on friday morning.

i originally thought they were merely the biggest event company in singapore; turns out, they are one of the biggest event companies in the world and have done some pretty amazing work on an astonishingly large global scale.

one of my managers and i were working on it in the evening, and i told her i didn't agree with the approach we were using. it feels too "hard sell", like we're attempting to force ourselves down their throat. we might be one hot shot in the teeny weeny tourism industry in singapore, but when you compare that on the global events scale, we barely count as a small fry. who are we to approach them with so much pride and arrogance, telling them that like it or not, they have to work with us?

which got me thinking about the way we approach God sometimes. do we force ourselves down His throat? do we approach the Creator of the universe with arrogance and pride, telling Him why we deserve a blessed life, or that He should just grant us the desires of our hearts? do we tell Him to "work with us, or else"?

for God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6b). humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up (James 4:10).

now, if you'd excuse me. i have to go come up with an alternate presentation to show my boss tomorrow.

prayers are very much appreciated ^^
