ting:

it was the absolute best 4.5 days :) to see and reunite once again with the people who were (and still are) such a huge part of you.

i loved brunei. i think it really is underrated, and that people don't give it the credit it deserves. then again, i don't blame them, especially since they weren't in the company of the two BEST bruneians in the whole wide world!

the past 4.5 days were a whirl of stunning skies, breathtaking greenery, crazy drivers, gorgeous sunsets, ira's black nose (=P), crocodile hunting, miri, getting lost en route back to the bruneian customs, asking God for a burning bush or a pillar of cloud to lead us out of sarawak's dark roads and having Him send a driver who pointed us to the correct exit, chilling in the backseat with owl city and taylor swift (i now have "you belong to me" perpetually stuck in my head), banging my head almost every single time i got into ira's car, failed movie marathons (we tried reliving our nightovers in melbourne, where we watched movie after movie till 4am. but alas, age has caught up, and we fell fast asleep every single night before 12am), trips down memory lane, "expressions guy", trying to remember how jovan looks like and coming to the mutual conclusion that he looks "chin-dian" whilst waiting for him at the bus terminal AND breakfast in bed on my last morning that consisted of the BEST PANCAKES EVER!

you two are the best :) i miss you heaps already!

ps: suba, jo and angie, we missed you beyond heaps as well!

and, as promised. photos will be up on facebook :)

as much as i dislike it, help me be faithful with all You've entrusted me with. teach me to be faithful with the little things, so that in Your time, in accordance to Your will, when Your miracle comes along, i will be faithful with the big things.

in the midst of all these, i know You are sovereign still :)

something that spoke.

Psalm 143:8
"Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul."

so i finally have the time to blog about bali. it was, in a word, mindblowing.

bali is commonly known as the "land of smiles". honestly, this reputation does no justice to the locals. superior service, warm hospitality, genuine sincerity. they would go to the ends of the earth to meet our needs/wants. i have never seen anyone serve others the way they do, with such a willing spirit.

the "land of smiles" is alternatively known as the "land of the gods". bali is rooted deep in hinduism, and festivals throughout the year revolve around the culture and practices of their religion. temples dot the streets, and the doorway of each shop/restaurant has a miniature flower arrangement of sorts which serves a form of blessing (something i could never get used to - my friends would call it having a short term memory and constantly forgetting they were there - and kept nearly tripping over).

it was in this "land of the gods" that God chose to continually reveal Himself to me - through fresh revelations, abundant favour and His protection. He not only blessed us with decent weather (we were there during bali's rainy season), He also gave us the best driver cum tour guide (whom i probably prayed into existence) ever!

my two pet peeves about bali. i thought the beaches were a little disappointing (and i went to three different ones!). also, there were way too many mosquitoes! i must have lost half the blood in my body feeding them. they have this amazing knack of reproducing right before your eyes... kill one, and ten more would come -_-

my tourist status became elevated to celebrity status when this group of muslims came up to me and asked if they could, individually, take a photo with me o.O i didn't quite know what to say or how to react, so i ended up standing there whilst the eight of them excitedly took turns posing next to me. my dad was absolutely no help. he stood there, laughed and took photos of them taking photos of me -_- i'm still pretty bewildered about the whole thing, but i guess i now know how celebrities feel (minus the puzzlement, haha).

for the people who have been bugging me nonstop about posting photos, here are a few highlights from the trip :) i uploaded a whole chunk on facebook as well, so if you're interested, you know where to go ^^

my absolute favourite photo of my parents. soooo sweet!

the view from the top :)
