ting:

here are more random pictures taken in hk, courtesy of my s8, which are freshly uploaded.

my first night in hk and jon brought me to his "office" (which in effect is a meeting room, coz he lost his seat to a fresh grad. altogether now... awwwwwwww.).

i don't know why he's complaining though.. he not only gets an "office" all to himself, he gets the luxury of having 4 chairs at his disposal plus the office phone conveniently located next to him which he uses to call me.

PLUS the title of "head of pantry" stuck outside his "office" door! =D

lunching with my melbie friends when selena was still in hk.

and hmmmmm. fooooooood.

mangoooooo!

as can be seen, dessert makes selena happy. heh.

at tsim sha tsui, where we took a ferry to ooh and aah over hk's night skyline

lol.. don't you just love these two entertainers? =)

and does anyone wanna venture a guess as to exactly what this is?

the lack of a tripod meant that all our night shots were blurry. boo. throw in the fact that the ferry was moving pretty fast (and rocking pretty hard too) and that means stability for the camera is pretty much outta the question.

jon and i had roasted baby pigeons for dinner one night. they taste like chicken!

oh and last friday night saw us at jacky cheung's concert. it was defintely an experience because 1) the concert was held outdoors and 2) it started raining in the middle of it all, to which jacky said he'd "accompany" us in "braving" the rain. i was telling charmaine that he didn't have to brave the rain... the stage was sheltered! that brat. but thankfully the rain stopped after awhile (God is good and He must have gotten sick of me whining inside my head to Him) so all was good. his classics are fantastic, though his newer rap songs are utter crap.

the white blur is him, taken by jon when the guys ran up all the way to the edge of the stage during the encore. and they enjoyed about three seconds of fame, whereby they got caught on camera and were broadcasted to whoever who was watching the screen at the moment.

on the way back after jacky's concert, we were having a discussion as to whether scarves on guys look gay, to which jon decided he'd definitely be able to pull the look off with my scarf. you be the judge.

he was also so confident that he bet HK$50 (approx SGD10) that he would be able to pick a guy up. i decided to up it to HK$500 IF a guy approaches him, and HK$1000 if a girl approaches him. needless to say, he lost. =p (though at one point in time, i thought i saw a guy eyeing him. hmmmm.)

met up with ami yesterday and she basically brought me on an eating tour around hk. oh man, the food is so good!

nothing beats a bowl of warm "tang yuan" in black sesame on a freezing cold day.

ami + me

and ooooh. dinner was "bo zai fan" which was yummy yummy yummy! i so have to bring jon to try this!

for those who don't know, we went to taiwan for three days over the weekend. in both our opinions, it was an utter waste of time and money because it rained the entire three days we were there (booo. i can't believe i actually forgot to check the weather!) and frankly speaking, we didn't see much of taiwan.

our hotel room

i hope jon doesn't kill me for posting this shot of him.

the first night we were there, we braved the rain to find "shilin night market" which apparently is taipei's most popular and largest night market by far. we also attempted to keep ourselves entertained by writing a song along the way, which obviously did not come to pass as i couldn't make things rhyme and jon was not helping matters by supplying the most ridiculous lyrics ever.

taiwan's cuisine is apparently very good, but i didn't think that highly of it (probably because my stomach was being a brat when i was there and my appetite was wayyy below normal standards). only upside is it is crazily cheap!

we hired a cab for the entire day and went to taroko (did i spell it right?) gorge.

P-O-S-E-R!

i don't really know what this is. our cab driver stopped and we felt obligated to take photos.

one of our stops along the way (once again, i don't know what it is. some medical hall maybe? perhaps someone who can read chinese can tell me... i desperately need to brush up on my mandarin. it took me about 10 minutes to ask someone for directions! and i had no idea what our cab driver was talking about half the time.. i thought jon did because he was going "uh huh" on a regular basis... it was only after everything was over that he told me he had no idea what the fella was saying too. and it was so awkward how the driver tried telling us a joke, only to have us both stone, look at each other for about 10 seconds, digest and comprehend, then laugh. ugh.)

i won't take credit for something i didn't photograph... this was taken by jon using my camera (i was hiding away in the car then, coz my stomach was being incredibly pms-y).

i think they have a name for this, just that i'm not good at remembering anything in mandarin, so i'll just call them rocks.

more rocks (this looks like a china-fied version of grampians)

jon and our cab driver sharing an intimate moment

from right: jon, our cabby and his wife (with our cab in the background)

me with the grumpy old man

once again, i don't know what the significance of this is. our cabby told us, but as usual, i didn't understand him.

our cabby was insisting that since we travelled all the way there, this photo with the overhead sign is a must. and i don't even understand what the sign says. ><

we also went on a peddle boat thingy for a while (*pants* peddling is tiring!)...

...and being the sweet dai gor he is, jon made me put my feet up while he did all the work (though i do have a video that depicts otherwise!).

nearing dusk, we stopped by this field of flowers (i'm surprise they even have flowers during winter)

and our cabby demonstrates why he isn't in the photography business.

and then we had dinner, in which i was thanking God for my seafood allergy. can you imagine having to eat thattt?:

even dai gor got so disgusted he had to wash away the ink in soup. and our cabby was sitting there the entire time saying that dish was probably the best seafood dish that ever exists. hmm.

and our last day in taiwan consisted of running wild around the city, once again having to brave the rain (sigh).

on a sidenote... i've come to fall in love with hk (food, shopping, weather) this two weeks i've been here. while i definitely would not want to live here long-term, it's enough to make me not want to go home for now.
