My Photograph of Red Orange Icelandic Poppies at Descanso Gardens + Sketch of a Big Eye Angel Fairy/ October 18 Art Sketches Daily...

I took this photograph of these red orange icelandic poppies at Descanso Gardens some time in May.  They are not presently blooming, but I was looking through my images and thought they were too beautiful not to share.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I love to paint flowers, you may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She is looking downwards with a wary expression...  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in October. This is day 18.

I would like to try to reach a goal of 100 faces sketched on consecutive days, I started this effort on September 1st, 2017...  This is face 48.

This is a rough sketch.

I took this photograph of these icelandic poppies at Descanso Gardens.  They are a brilliant orange color and looked so pretty together.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

Here is a sketch of a rose flower.  These flowers have such soft and delicate petals...  I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in July.  This is from day 11.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has a flower in her hair and a caring expression.  I think she is most likely a goddess, although she could also be an angel fairy or a mermaid.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

My Photograph of a Red Poppy at Descanso Gardens + May Sketches Art, Day 11 100th Sketch, Fairy Angel...

I took this photograph of this red poppy at Descanso Gardens.  At least I think it's a poppy, it has the same kind of core and stems, but it's fluffier than any I have seen before.  Prior to this year, I had seen only Icelandic poppies and California poppies.  This year was my first year seeing in person some of the red ones I have so loved from Georgia O'Keefe's paintings... I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  I knew I wanted to sketch her, but my reference was fairly small and I couldn't quite make out what was going on with her hat.  Then I realized I wanted it to be a birdcage hat, obviously the cage is too small for the bird to live in and she is merely transporting the bird, but I thought it was fun conceptually...  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be an mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in May.  This is day 11.  I believe this is my 100th consecutive sketch!

My Photograph of White Icelandic Flowers at Descanso Gardens + 29 Faces Sketch Art, Face 3...

I took this photograph of white icelandic poppies at Descanso Gardens quite some time ago.  I love how these flowers seem to dance and sway with the gentlest of breezes.  Also I feel that their buds are just lovely.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  Her head is crowned with leaves and her eyes are closed as light filters through the forest to kiss her face.  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be an mermaid or a goddess.   I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

She is face 3 for 29 faces in February.  The goal is to share 29 faces in the month of February.

I took this macro photograph of these purple flowers at Huntington Gardens a while back.  I'm not certain, but I think they are some kind of poppy.  I love purple flowers and these really caught my eye.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

Edit:  It looks like these beautiful blooms are actually anemone flowers, thank you Georgie!

A Photograph of a Purple Burgundy Icelandic Poppy at Descanso Gardens...

I believe this purple burgundy flower is an Icelandic poppy.  I took this photograph at Descanso Gardens some time ago, they aren't currently blooming here, but I love to visit flowers in my photographs that I have seen at different times.  I think poppies are such a sweet and lovely flower.  I hope you will enjoy this photo.
