Your Next Stamp - August Feature

Welcome to the August YOUR NEXT STAMP feature post. Each month the design team posts creations to inspire you, using specific themes or stamps. This month our feature theme is CELEBRATE!

Now this wasn't planned, however I think I have ice cream on the brain this summer. For the July feature, I used ELLIE LOVES ICE CREAM (here). This month as we celebrated a birthday for YOUR NEXT STAMP and it was also my birthday I created an ice cream themed birthday card. Summer birthdays and ice cream, nothing better!

I worked with all dies for my card. I used the die set from ZERO CALORIES to create the delicious triple scoop ice cream. I first cut the full ice cream out of the kraft cardstock. I then used the individual scoop die to cut out my yellow, pink and blue layers of ice cream.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the BIG BIRTHDAY BALLOON die set and I also used the TINY STITCHES line die.

On the inside of the card I added another die cut ice cream and used a sentiment from the WHATNOT SENTIMENTS TWO set.

Supplies Used:
Dies: ZERO CALORIES,  BIG BIRTHDAY BALLOON and TINY STITCHES
Stamps: WHATNOT SENTIMENTS TWO
Paper: Echo Park Birthday Girl

PRIZE ALERT!!!!

Head over to to the YNS blog to see all of the DT members sharing projects for today's feature. Leave a comment on the blog post for the August feature and you will have a chance to win a prize.  One lucky stamper will win a YNS stamp set of their choice!

Your Next Stamp August DT Dare

This month at YOUR NEXT STAMP, our Design Team (DT) Dare challenge is called SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE. That means we were given the challenge to create a shaker card. Oh boy, this was going to be a real challenge, as I have only ever made ONE other shaker card. That one turned out okay (here), however I think I filled it a bit too much.

So for today's DT Dare, I used a the sweet Phoebe with her Wagon, along with the matching die.

To create my shaker box, I first cut the Happy Birthday sentiment (from the Big Balloon die set) from a 4.75 x 3.15 inch piece of cardstock. I positioned the die in the bottom (centre) approximately 0.5 inches from the bottom and ran that through my die cut machine. I then carefully used my paper trimmer to cut out the inside of my rectangle panel to leave the sentiment and a 0.5 inch frame.

I adhere some acetate and then another frame cut from the dark blue cardstock. I stuck down my foam adhesive and added my shaker filling. I then applied another panel of acetate to keep everything inside while I position it on my card.

This was all stuck down to my card base, along with Phoebe and 3 die cut balloons from the Balloon Trio die set.

I didn't have much in my stash to put inside my shaker. I will admit I am not a sequin fan, so I don't have many around. I did find a few blue sequins, along with some little bead that I am pretty sure I will be finding around my desk and in the carpet for months to come. I also used the little star dies that come with the Phoebe with her Wagon die set to punch out some yellow, blue and pink stars.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Phoebe with her Wagon
Dies: Phoebe with her Wagon, Balloon Trio, Big Balloon die
Paper: Carta Bella It's A Celebration

Head over to the Your Next Stamp blog and check out the DT DARE post for this month. Comment on the post for a chance to WIN a prize. You will also see more amazing creations from my fellow YNS DT girls.

Have a wonderful and crafty day!

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Preview: Day Four - You're A Scream (plus challenge)

Welcome back to day FOUR of our August previews for Kraftin' Kimmie StampsI am a wee bit excited about today's preview.

Today we are featuring a fun set by Cheryl Grant called YOU'RE A SCREAM. These stamps are sweet, cute and a perfect way to complement those fun Halloween cards and projects.

I created a fun treat box featuring Lexi the cute spider girl! This is the same dimensions as the coffee (k-cup box) I made (here).

To create the background for my stamped image, I used masking paper and my Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Squeeze Lemonade, Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade and Black Soot). It does take a bit of time with the masking, but I love how this turned out, so I think it was worth it. There are so many fun ways to showcase your image.

This box measures 5 3/4 inches square. The cardstock for the base of your box will measure at 9 1/4 inches square. Score at 1 3/4 on all sides. The lid will be 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch large than the base size with the same score at 1 3/4 inches on all sides).
