make mine modern swap

Pin It Hang out on flickr long enough, and you get sucked in... it's pretty impossible not to. :)

Ali was my partner for this round of Make Mine Modern.

I made her a little bag,

MMM bag

And a pillow cover (since she loved one I had made in a previous round),

"big items" for MMM swap

(And Ali took this picture of it all stuffed and pillowy)

MMM received! Rob Peter to Pay Paul Awesome pillow

Then I added in my fabric, a hera marker, some cute pins and some Aurifil thread (my favorite).

Package complete.

MMM package sent

Even though I was completing this package simultaneously with the first trimester, and it was mailed 2 days late -- it was really fun to have a partner I "knew!"  (first time in all my swaps)

-----------------

The package I received came all the way from India!  Shruti sent me these lovely pillow covers, a fabric belt I intend to wear above my tummy, and a cute little fabric bookshelf for Steiger. :)

I've lately been plotting for my Goodie Bag Swap bag.  After I made the bag above, I decided I kind of like making them.  A few books later... and I'm on my way.

This was the inspiration I gave my secret partner.

I'm telling you all here though -- no more swaps for me for a few months! :)

a pretty rainbow

Pin It This whole working outside the house thing has its plusses and minuses.

minus:

I got nothing sewing related done this week... (had an appointment on Thursday that took nap time, and then we celebrated Jay's birthday yesterday... at P.F. Chang's... which is over 1 1/2 hrs. away one-way).

plus:

I could afford this stack of fabric when it was on sale at fabric.com.  I managed to squeeze it in to my cart 15 minutes before the deal ended, AND I had a coupon code. :)

rainbow stack of goodness

I arranged it all like a pretty rainbow, and was happy.

pretty pile of new blenders

For those who'd like a closer up look:

Henna garden, Honey Bee, AB dots

a little Modern Meadow, Dance with Me, Ta Dot, Nicey Jane, and Haven's Edge.

If you're my M {cubed} partner... hop on over to flickr land, and let me know what you'd most like to see in your package (if you don't mind). ;)

lucky me. :)

Pin It I showed you what I sent... but I didn't show you what I got yet. :)

And I have to say that I was, yet again, blessed with some excellent swap partners. :)

First, with "Make Mine Modern"

Lisa was my partner, and she completely spoiled me.

The loot!

A sewing machine cover (that is reversible to hold the goodies you can see above)

sewing machine cover

This super ridiculously cute wall hanging (that hangs above my sewing machine)

Adorable little wall hangingS loves it too

And some really adorable fabric... (none of which I had... which is hard to do!)

fabric bundle!

Thank you Lisa... you get super partner award. :)

(P.S. Lisa is competing in SYTYC (So you think you're crafty)... I've seen her work; I think she'll go far. ;)

And the Pillow Talk Swap

Amanda (amandaquilts) was my partner, and she made such an incredible. thoughtful, adorable pillow... I absolutely ♥ it.

Those half-square triangles are tiny and so precise!

It will look perfect with my chubby stars, and is made in one of my very favorite fabric collections (Nicey Jane).

Pillow talk pillow received!

Thank you so much ladies!  These were so great... both of them. :)

time to visit the post office.

Pin It Pillow Talk Swap pillow -- done.

Pillow Talk Swap 4 pillow

Modern Swappers bundle -- done.

Modern Swappers bundle

For the Modern Swappers swap, the person sends a handmade item, something for the sewing room, and at least 1 1/2 yd. of fabric.

I used this tutorial by Oh Frannson's Elizabeth Hartman to make a thread catcher/pin cushion.

Modern Swapper pincushion/thread catcher

(yep, there's a Hera marker in there)

These are the fabrics I'm sending -- that check plaid by Momo (third down on right) is my new favorite...

And of course -- the pillow I've been working on.

Modern Swappers pillow

Both my partners have similar taste; and I want to keep these pillows together... forever... but then I'd have more sewing to do (because I am not a flake), and I have enough to get done by December 24!

pillows for swapping

I hope they're both happy! :)

Steiger sure approves.

He likes it!
