JUGS 27 - A Sketch and a Farewell...

Good Morning!!

Happy Weekend!  It should be a busy one here, but a happy busy, so I'm ready to get it started!! :)

But, before I get to all the hoopla, I need to share with you this week's Just Us Girls Challenge.  This week, our hostess is Kristin, and as always, the first Saturday of the month is a sketch challenge.  Here's the sketch that she has given us all to play with:
This card will actually be FOR Kristin, as she moves into a new place, and on to a new chapter in her life (I just need her new address first, *wink*).  Anyway, here's what I've come up with:

This card features some new goodies from My Time Made Easy.  I used the So Sentimental and Just for You stamp sets, as well as the Fun Floral digital papers.  Wishing you a very happy time in your life Kristin!!!

Now, the farewell.  I've been doing a lot of thinking for a while now, and while I absolutely LOVE all of the design teams I have the privilege of being on, but...working full time, with two young children, a house, a husband...I just can't quite keep up with it all, and so at this point in time, I must resign my position on the JUGS team.  These ladies are AWESOME and so wonderful to work with, it has been a true pleasure.  I do intend to play along with the challenges going forward, but at least if my other duties get in the way, I'm not stressed about it.

So - thanks to Kristin, Pam, Mona, Lisa, Alicia, Maria, and Dana - it's been a BLAST girls :)... and I'll still be around -- you can't get rid of me that easy ;).

Make sure, speaking of all those great gals that you stop by and show them some love -- they work hard each week to bring you the best!  We also have a fantastic guest designer this month -- Sue Lelli!  So check her out too!!!

JUGS 26 - Template Challenge!

Welcome to the weekend!

I'm not sure what exactly happened, but Spring seems to have retreated into hiding...brrrrrrrr.  My girls are on vacation this week, I hope it warms up some!

This week's Just Us Girls Challenge is being sponsored by My Time Made Easy, LLCLauren Meader, the owner, gave the girls on our team the new 'Slip Cover' template to work with.  It's scheduled to be released on April 1!
Have you used any of Lauren's templates??  Aren't they so much fun?  They truly make gift giving MUCH more stylish - and so EASY too!  Especially since they are available in formats that are compatible with all of the popular cutting machines -- it's FABULOUS!

This box is quick and simple to put together, and can really be put to so many great uses!

My intent for this box is for it's traditional intent.  My plan is to make some post cards (which I ran out of time for) for a change of address for a friend who is moving.  I used the new set by Becky Oehlers, called Wonderfully Whimsical - sold by Papertrey Ink.  The hill and the house are pieced onto the sky 'layer'.
I layered some Lemon Tart and Hibiscus Burst ribbons around the box, and then added some ribbon loops to the back of a big white vintage button.

I know I would have LOVED if someone did this for me -- this box should hold a good number of postcards too, no need to enclose envelopes!!

So won't you play along??  There's a free template up for grabs if you do!!  Be sure to link up your project on the Just Us Girls post to be eligible :)

We're off to a birthday party today -- I only wish it were a *wee* bit warmer.  Then tonight we are planning to participate in Earth Hour - how about you???

Thanks for stopping by -- please check out what the rest of the amazing JUGS team has come up with this week:

Until next time...

Supplies:
Stamps: Wonderfully Whimsical
Ink: Palette Black
Paper: Hawaiian Shores, Hibiscus Burst, Staples Brochure paper (Digital DSP)
Accessories: Vintage Buttons, stickles, lemon tart satin ribbon, hibiscus burst bitty dot ribbon, Slip Cover template

JUGS 25 - Color Me Springy!!

Happy Spring!!!

We've had beautiful Spring-like weather here the last few days, and I've been LOVING it! :)  I have not been loving the cold I picked up somewhere :(.  I haven't felt this awful from a cold in I can't TELL you how long... but enough about me.

It's Saturday -- time for another Just Us Girls Challenge!!  This week, our hostess is Lisa Kind, and since it is the first day of Spring, she has chosen a LOVELY Spring-time color combination for us to work with this week!  Take a look:
A friend of mine recently had to undergo some emergency surgery.  Thankfully, she is doing ok, but it will be a while before she is all better.  I wanted to make something pretty for her to look at :).

I used stamp sets from My Time Made Easy, LLC.  All a Flutter, Fanciful Flourishes, and So Sentimental.  Instead of using that terrific frame for the sentiment, I decided to 'frame' it another way, using 2 of the flourish images from Fanciful Flourishes.  It's hard to see on the full shot of the card, because for some reason, my Spring Moss ink looks all washed out in the full shot.  Here's a close up, so you can see the details...

I think I will definitely use this again, I love how it turned out.  The flowers were done in Lemon Tart and Bashful Blue, using the rock n roll technique, and the centers are kissed with baby blue liquid pearls.

Here's a shot of the full card:
So glad you could come by today - and I hope that you get the opportunity to play along, we'd love to see what YOU do with these colors!!!

Be sure to show the rest of the team some love --

Supplies:
Stamps: All A Flutter, Fanciful Flourishes, So Sentimental
Ink: Bashful Blue (SU!), Lemon Tart, Spring Moss (PTI), Brilliance Chocolate
Paper: Kraft, Lemon Tart, Spring Rain, Select White (All PTI)
Accessories: Srping rain ribbon (PTI), Kraft chiffon Ribbon(SU!), liquid pearls

When I saw the "Just a Note" set, I HAD to have it, given my 'other life' in fife and drum.  My card today is actually for my Sister & Brother-in-law who just celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary this past week.  ♪ Happy Anniversary Cat & Alan!!♪  They too, are very musically inclined, and you can imagine, the sentiment is PERFECT!

First though - here's the sketch Dana has given us to work with:

and here's my card:
It's funny to think 10 years ago, we were in the midst of a chain of weddings.  Three of my husband's siblings, as well as hubby and I all got married in a matter of 13 months.  It started in May of 1999, and finished in June of 2000.  To think back, it was SO crazy, but a TON of fun, all at the same time.  Happy memories, for sure.

Now -- there's LOTS to look at today - we have our Guest Designer for March with us today, the super talented Stephanie Kraft, and Dawn and her amazing Design Team are joining us today as well!  Soooo, head on over, and check out all of the fabulousness awaiting for you...share a little love along the way too...

Just Us Girls Challenge # 22 - Template Challenge

It's time for another Just Us Girls Challenge -- is it just me, or does it seem like time is FLYING by?!?!  WOW!

We've had some crazy weather here this week -- ice, rain, and it ended with SNOW - lots of it.  We finally got the one big storm I had hoped for -- tho maybe it was just a little too much.  We had a 30+mile stretch of the highway near me shut down for over 15 hours, and lots of people were stranded on the highway...so THAT wasn't cool, but it really looks beautiful outside.

Alright - I know, enough chit chat about the weather...MORE about this week's challenge!!!  Lauren Meader of My Time Made Easy is our sponsor this week - and if your participate in this week's challenge, you'll be entered in to win a free template of your choice from her store!  So, break out those 3D projects people!
Our challenge from Lauren was to use the Under Cover template and one of the Cute Critters files.  Now, she had previously released the Heart Stealer Raccoon and Whooty Love in February -- today, you will see some peeks at new critter files that are being released on Monday -- Bouncing Baby Bunny and Cute Lil Chick.  Really, are these not ADORABLE???

One last thing before my project -- Canda from Candacraft is AMAZING, and is offering a coupon code JUST for our JUGS friends!!!  Now through March 15, use coupon code JUGS315, and you will get 10% off your total order.  She has THE lowest price on the Sure Cuts A Lot software that I've been able to find, and now you can pay even LESS!

Speaking of Sure Cuts A Lot -- that is what I used to make this Bunny -- SOOOO simple.  I decided I wanted to make a see through belly, so you could peek in at the chocolately goodness.  So I lined up the belly cutout onto the sleeve of the Under Cover template, and it took all of the guesswork out of it.  I then stamped a pattern from Argyle Amazement onto some acetate, and adhered it to the inside of the sleeve.  I added a few rhinestones to the pattern for a little extra pizzaz.

Since I didn't want to block the view of the bunny's belly, and make it look like Bunny is getting ready to give a hug, I adhered the arms to the back -- I realize in my photo it looks a little awkward because of the angle, but from straight on, it looks quite cute.

I finished off bunny's ears with some rosebuds, and gave her a little lacy skirt, trimmed with polkadot ribbon.

Show the rest of the team some love -- you know you want to -- they've all done an amazing job!  AMAZING. (Links are in my right sidebar)

I'd like to thank Iwona (Chupa) Palamountain for being an INCREDIBLE guest designer for February!!  This is her last week as Guest Designer - we're going to miss you!

I'll be back tomorrow with a peek of a NEW template from My Time Made Easy -- be sure to come back now, ya hear??? ;-)

Have a GREAT day!

JUGS 21 - a color challenge!!

Good Morning!

It's a beautiful but chilly morning here in NY, I think I'd like to be a cat - just curl up in a sunny spot in a window somewhere :)

It's Saturday -- JUGS challenge day.  It's the third Saturday - time for a color challenge!

Maria Levine is our host this week, and she's come up with a GREAT color palette.  Take a look for yourself:

Now, I will admit, I was a little nervous, I was having a hard time thinking of something, but then I saw my friend Pam's card using the sketch challenge from last week at Taylored Expressions, and something just clicked.  Here's the sketch:

I grabbed out my Baby Button Bits set, and used the cute flower image.  It may be hard to see, but I used some embroidery floss to hand stitch the stems, and to attach the buttons.  A little faux stitching on the dark chocolate layer -- and that's about it.

I hope you have a little time to stop by the rest of the team's blogs, they've all come up with some FABULOUS designs this week.

I hope you get to play along too -- post your link on the post over on the JUGS blog to be eligible to be 'chic of the week'.

Have a SUPER day!!

Supplies:
Stamps: Baby Button Bits
Ink: Brilliance Chocolate
Paper: Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate, Berry Sorbet, Raspberry Fizz
Accessories: Berry Sorbet buttons, SU! Markers (Chocolate Chip & Pink Passion - used for the focal image), swiss dots embossing folder, embroidery floss

So Happy For You...

Good Morning and Happy Saturday to you!!

It's been a crazy week, and on one hand it seems really long, and the other hand, I can hardly believe it's Saturday already...strange, I know, but that's how my mind works!

It's Saturday -- time for another Just Us Girls Challenge!!

Lisa Kind is our challenge hostess this week.  The second Saturday of every month, we do a technique, and Lisa has chosen the Split negative technique (not familiar?  check out the Just Us Girls blog - Lisa has linked some great tutorials!!).  This is one I have never done before, so I was eager to give it a shot!

I grabbed some neglected Papertrey stamps, and got to work.  I think Scattered Showers is a great set for this technique!

To give the focal image a little more prominence, I heat embossed it -- looks so sleek IRL.

I wanted to add a splash of color, and I had this great ribbon from Michaels, that fit the bill perfectly.
I had a lot of fun with this one, and think YOU will too!  Looking forward to checking out this week's creations!

Stop by and show the rest of the girls some love -- you know you want to -- it's VALENTINE'S weekend for goodness sake! :)

Have a super weekend!!!

Supplies:
Stamps: Scattered Showers (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Fresh Snow, Brilliance Black

Just Us Girls Challenge #19 - Sketch

Hello to you!!

I have TWO posts today - so please please read both :).  I'm the hostess this week, over at Just Us Girls.  This week is a sketch challenge - and here's what I came up with:

I love circles -- hope you do too, and will come and play along.

Instead of doing a card this week, I decided to dust off my digiscrapping skills, and make a page of my girls.

This layout uses a kit by Eva Kipler and Studio Flergs called Party Central.  It's available at Sweet Shoppe Designs.

I've gotten bitten by the bug to get some more of these pages done, I do enjoy playing with my digiscrappin' stuff (plus it's a LOT warmer on the computer upstairs than it is in the basement where my stamps are-lol) so you may see some more digital projects in the near future.

I hope you get to come play along this week -- can't wait to see YOUR take on the sketch.

Oh - and thanks for the feedback on you favorite Valentine's treats, I now have to stay away from all of the candy displays in the stores, as I'm craving a big fat marshmallow heart :). mmmmmmmmm.

Stop by the rest of the team's blogs to see what they have done with my sketch -- they all TOTALLY ROCKED IT.

Have a great weekend!

Tweet Tweet ...

Happy Saturday!!

When I started this week, it felt like it would never end -- and then suddenly POOF!  Here we are at the weekend.

Saturday's here on my blog are devoted to some of my favorite ladies...the Just Us Girls Challenge team.

Today's challenge is a 3-D template challenge, and this week WE HAVE A SPONSOR!!  Lauren Meader has graciously offered to be our sponsor this week!!

So, for one lucky participant, you will receive a $25 gift certificate to My Time Made Easy, just for playing along!  Make SURE to post a link to your project on the Mr. Linky on the Just Us Girls blog to be eligible to win.

As a BONUS -- Lauren has shared some new product with the DT this week, and you all get to see some sneak peeks from Lauren's upcoming release on 2/1.

So, without further adieu, here's my project for this week:

I used the Happy Mail template, and made it a little bird house.  I had seen some cute birdhouses that were in the shape of a mailbox in Lancaster, PA a while back...very cute stuff.

That pretty patterned paper on the box and the card are from Love Notes, a new collection of digital papers that will be released, and that adorable birdie is from the "Critters With Heart" stamp set.  This is a super cute set -- perfect for little treats for your little ones and their classmates -- and not just for valentine's day -- they're great for all occasions - birthday, just because, thinking of you...

Go take a look at what the rest of the DT has made, as well as our Guest designer, Gabby Arriaza...they're all done an incredible job with this new template!
We're off to do a little shopping (nothing FUN, just food and that kind of boring stuff - lol) and then out to dinner with some of the greatest people I know tonight!  Looking forward to it.

Have a great day...and thanks for stopping by!!

Have you ever...

Just felt like your creativity was totally drained??  I was talking to my friend Lauren earlier today, saying how I felt TOTALLY uncreative.  I was faced with the JUGS challenge for today, and was DREADING it, because I really have been stuck in a rut.  I get into grooves sometimes, where the ideas just FLY, but there are other times when I sit and just STARE at all the goodies laid out before me, and get....well....nothing.

Then I went to my trusty computer, and took a look at the challenge before me once more...these colors...hmmmm....

and I suddenly felt a little twinge.  It was strange...like a spark maybe...and all of a sudden, I started to see a layout in my head, layers, texture - WHAT?!?!?!  it was CREATIVE thought! lol.

Now -- I will admit- I goofed off...sort of.  Before I made the card (yes, I really did wait until tonight to do it...I just couldn't make anything earlier this week) I watched the movie "What Happens in Vegas"...have any of you seen it??  It's with Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz...I have to say, I liked it.  Made me chuckle, made me smile, and of course -- the happy ending...I'm a sucker for a happy ending, you know.  But it's main theme is LOVE...which FINALLY brings me to my card (I'm sure you were wondering if I'd EVER get here - lol).

I decided I would take these delicious colors that Kristin gave us to play with this week, and make a valentine card...I may give this to my Dad to give to my Mom for Valentine's day...what do you think???

So, if you get the chance - see the movie -- it's light-hearted and sweet with some funny rolled in...maybe a good movie to watch with that special someone on Valentine's day even :).

Now -- go check out what the rest of the girls have made this week -- all I can say is WOW!!
Supplies:
Stamps: Heart Prints (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Versamark, Basic Gray
Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Basic Gray, Blush Blossom, Vintage Cream
Accessories: D'Vine Swirl embossing folder, Basic Gray chiffon ribbon (SU!), dimensionals, clear EP, Nestabilities Labels 1 dies

Just Us Girls Technique week!

Happy Saturday!!!  YEAH!

It was a loooooong week back at work after having been off for a week and a half - lol.

It's Saturday, so it's time for another Just Us Girls Challenge.  This is the 2nd Saturday of the month, which means it's time for a technique.  And wouldn't you know???  My card also fits this week's Crazy 4 Challenges Challenge, which is to make your project 'Birthday Themed'.

Mona Pendleton is our lovely host this week - and here's her challenge:

I have a sewing machine, but I'm certainly no PRO...but I was glad to get this challenge, as I always tell myself I should sew on my cards, and then never do.

So, I broke out my machine, as well as my needle and embroidery thread, and got to work.  I used the stem image from PTI's Women of Life.  I stamped it in cream, used my paper piercer to make my stitching holes, and then got stitching away.

Topped off the stems with some felt flowers from Stampin' Up!.  I sewed on the tiered satin ribbon ruffles, and finished off the front of the card with some polkadots in Raspberry Fizz, and a sentiment from Damask Designs (PTI) in fresh snow ink.

I had an argument with the sewing machine...and the machine won.  Looks like that will be something I will have to work on tomorrow -- but for now, my card is finished, and I'm happy for that.

Head on over to the rest of the teams' blogs to check out their FANTABULOUS creations -- I just LOVE Gabby's card this week -- sooooo fun!
So come on -- faux stitiching is allowed too, so no excuses - come play!  Link your creation on the Mr. Linky, over at the JUGS blog, and if you are uploading to any online galleries, be sure to use they keyword JUGS15.

I'll be entertaining 6 6 year olds today...we're making our own pizza's for my daughter's birthday...wish me luck!  Looking forward to seeing what YOU create this week!  We really appreciate all of our followers, and anyone who comes out to participate!!!

A Just Us Girls Sketch Challenge!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!  I'm hoping everyone started off the year in a happy fashion.  We celebrated Shannon's birthday - and spent a quiet evening home together.  We watched the ball drop in Times Square, shared a smooch, and then called it a night.  Gone are the days of partying until the wee hours of the morning - lol.

We had a quiet day for the first of the year, and I think that's a good way to start it off.

But, enough about me -- it's time for a Just Us Girls Challenge!

This week, our hostess is the lovely Lisa Kind.  She came up with this great sketch to work with:

I decided to combine it with this week's Stamp TV color challenge, of pink, brown, and white.

Unfortunately, I think I got a little too close to the embossing powder with my heat gun, and the sentiment is a little messy, but I'm still lovin' this.  Some of my favorite colors, combined with this fun sketch -- how can you lose?

I hope that you get a chance to play along this week - I'd love to get the chance to see what you do with the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by week after week, and checking in.  Be sure to see what the rest of the team has come up with -here are some links to get you started --

and our January Guest Designer Gabby Arriaza

stay tuned...the grand opening of My Time Made Easy is coming soon!!!!! ;).

Cake Anyone???

Hello Friends :)

I those of you that celebrate had a great Christmas.  I did, except for when my almost 6 year old daughter woke up at 3:30 am and WOULD NOT GO BACK TO SLEEP! - It made for a long day, but it was a good one, none the less.  BOTH of my girls said more than once today "This is the BEST Christmas EVER!" so I think we did alright :).

It's Saturday, and time for a Just Us Girls Challenge.  This week we have a sponsor, and guest designer  Kelleigh Ratzlaff!  I was so excited to get to use one of Kelleigh's templates -- fun, and easy to assemble!

I chose to use the Hexagon Box Template for my project.  When I saw the template on her site -- all I could think of was a wedding cake.  Not sure if it's all of the episodes of "Cake-off" or "Ace of Cakes" that we've been watching or what. lol.

So, I printed out the template, and got to work.  VERY easy to cut out, so that's a bonus too!

I assembled the boxes, and then trimmed them up with some 12 Days of Snowflakes digi paper.

Added some ribbon, and then the confetti flowers.  I tried to make it like those really elegant cakes, and had the flowers crawl up the side of the 'cake' to the middle of the top layer :).

Each flower is adorned with a clear flatback swarovski crystal, for that little bit of elegance, and sparkle.

Be sure to stop by the rest of the team, as they've all made some FABULOUS creations with Kelleigh's templates -- and don't forget to stop by Kelleigh's blog too!!
Have a SUPER day -- I'll be back tomorrow with a Cutesy Cover project!

My JUGS Color Challenge :)

Good Morning - and Happy Saturday to you!

Thanks for all of the kind words on my post yesterday.  It still doesn't feel real, but I'm quite excited about this new venture with Lauren.  If you don't know what in tarnation I'm talking about - check this out!

But -- today is about COLOR.  All over the place I see beautiful color combinations, but for some reason, when I sit down to make something - I never reach for those...I always 'play it safe'.  When I signed up to do this color challenge - I decided that I would reach out a little bit - and get people to stretch, and put together some colors they otherwise might not.

Here's my challenge for you:

These were some Christmas ornaments I got a few years ago, and I just LOVE them!!  Just so happens they match up quite nicely with some popular cardstock colors -- gee, how convenient!

For my card, I used Kraft, Raspberry Fizz, Pure Poppy, and New Leaf, but you can substitute with whatever colors you may have --

I had this design in my head for DAYS...I cut those ornaments out with my Cricut.  I made the shapes in Photoshop Elements, and used my SCAL software to trace the shape and cut it out.  How AWESOME is that?!?!?!?!

Finished it off with a sentiment from Papertrey Ink - and that was that -- I kept it simple and clean - but yet fun!

Hope YOU have fun, and come play with us this week!

Thanks SOOOO much for stopping by!!

Supplies:
Stamps: Signature Holiday (PTI), Fancy Flourishes (PTI), So Swirly (Lizzie Anne Designs)
Ink: Memento Rich Brown, Fresh snow, Versamark
Paper: Kraft, Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz, New Leaf, brushed gold

Accessories: gold cord, Martha Stewart glitter, EK success border punch

Dust off those chalks...

And get CREATING!

Kristin gave us a GREAT challenge over at the Just Us Girls blog this week.

The Chalkboard technique.  A tutorial can be found on SCS HERE.

Now, I thought "oh, this will be EASY" -- but for some strange reason, I had this creative block.  I'm not sure if it was just that my week was so hectic and I'm exhausted, or what...but it took me a few attempts until I had something I was happy with.

I started out with my SU! Pastels, and I liked NOTHING that I made, then I broke out these pretty shimmery chalks, and liked it a little better...

The images, with the exception of the sentiment are from PTI's With Sympathy, and the sentiment is from PTI's Damask Designs.  I like these paired together, don't you??

On a totally unrelated note -- we had our first snowfall last weekend.  It looked SO pretty.  I can't imagine living someplace that doesn't have 4 seasons (though let me tell you, the older I get, the less and less I like the frigid cold!)  We had our town tree lighting and then we came home and had a family snowball fight -- lots of fun.  Here's a great pic I got of my daughter Shannon the next day...

Hope you get to play along with us at the JUGS challenge this week -- I apologize as I haven't had a lot of time to get around to comment -- but am hoping to make up for it in the coming days, now that I have some super important Christmas projects completed and out of the way. :)

When you upload your project, post your link on the Mr. Linky on the Just Us Girls blog post -- and use Keyword JUGS11 in the online galleries.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team has created!
Hope you all have a GREAT weekend!
