Craft Dash 21, Color Throwdown and More :)
Happy Hump Day!!!! So glad it's Wednesday! It's been a rough week so far, but how awesome was it, when I got home and found NEW STAMPS in my mailbox?? I'll tell you.... VERY awesome. Just got my new stamps from Reverse Confetti, and thought the current Craft Dash Challenge to incorporate stars would be a great one to use them on.
It also happens to be the 5 year anniversary of the Color Throwdown - so I went ahead and grabbed their summery color scheme, which also makes me think of the 50's... aqua, pink, and yellow...aaahhhh :).
What could have been cooler in the 50's than Rock 'n' Roll??
Used the star image to make my background, and there are also little stars in the centers of the records...cute, right? I used my white glaze pen to make the 'shine' marks on the records.
When my husband and I were house hunting, there was this cute little house that was all brick on the outside, but boy was it 50's on the inside!! Formica everywhere, and it was robin's egg blue and yellow! The kitchen was super retro, and if it wouldn't have been priced so high, I would have LOVED to have gotten this place, and updated the rest of the house around the awesome old kitchen. It was begging to have a rotary dial phone on the wall, too.
I grew up listening to 50's music, so whenever I hear a certain song, it brings me back to my childhood - lots of good memories :).
OH! and before I forget -- here's my time :) CLOSE one!
Thanks for popping by -- hope you're having a great week!!

FINALLY!
I'm sorry I was MIA the other day. I live in NY, and earlier this week, we had a WICKED heat wave. It was so wicked, in fact, that it wreaked havoc in my home, lol.
We had no power the other night, and since then, my computers were acting a bit freakish (not sure if it was because of the outage, or what) either way, I'm FINALLY back up and running, and I have my My Time Made Easy project to share with you.
As most of you already know, Lauren is one of the sponsors over at the Color Throwdown's 100th challenge this week! SO many prizes up for grabs too -- you should check it out, and play if you can!!
I'm sharing the new Wonderful Watering Can with you all today -- every month, Lauren's creativity with cardstock never ceases to amaze me. What she can't do! I figured I would tie my project in with this week's challenge colors, no easy feat for me, I might add.
I'd like to pretend that every template we're given is easy, but I really did struggle with this one...I wasn't sure of the best placement for the sentiment, although I do like the different colored strips of CS around the can...overall I like how it came out, but it certainly wasn't without strife.
In retrospect, I might use a different color ribbon - as the red ribbon with the green flowers is now screaming "Christmas" to me, but at the time I thought it was a good idea...lol. I guess all of that heat earlier in the week affected my brain - ha ha.
However, all that said, please don't hold it against Lauren's template, as she and the rest of the girls on the DT have totally ROCKED this one. I wonder if it's because I usually kill houseplants? Maybe it's some strange psychological thing.
I will say though, for someone who kills house plants, I'm quite excited, as our vegetables outside have been doing wonderfully!! Take a peek...
These are our sungold cherry tomatoes (they're orange when they're ripe):
and one of our cucumbers...mmmmmm....
and here's another vegetable...oh wait...that's just a s'more ;)
I love Summer...except for those blasted heat waves ;).
Thanks for stopping by -- hope you all have a great weekend!

Melissa has some really CUTE images this week -- take a peek:
My first card features that cutie pie lady bug, and uses the colors for this week's Throwdown. The BG on my base layer is actually a digi background image that is already available over at PCS. I just changed the color of it, and printed it on my CS. The sentiment was also printed right on my base layer -- I laid them out on my screen, and printed it all out together -- easy peasy.
I've added some dimension to the lady bug, popping up her wings, the flower she is holding, and her antanne.
I added some Ripe Avocado twill and filled in the sentiment with liquid pearls to finish it off...
Up next are the robots!
You can tell these two are in love, can't you?? lol. Instead of "You Complete Me" I made the sentiment "You Compute Me" I thought it was fairly clever...even for me - ha ha.
This is a large card - it measures 5.5x5.5. The patterned paper is from Scenic Route, it complemented the robots nicely - and it provided my color scheme. Finishing touches on this one are some buttons in the lower right corner.
Please be sure to check out the rest of the DT's blogs - their links are in m right hand side bar ------>
I'll be back on Saturday with the latest JUGS challenge! Be sure to come back by then!!
Until then...
