This dress was actually made before the other one. This one ideally would be styled with space boots and gogglers. You know, so I can be a space rainbow?
I didn't use a pattern. It is by pure freak chance that it actually fits. This could not be duplicated. Not by me, at least. There will be no tutorial.

Making Messes
I mean, dresses. Making dresses. This one was so super easy and quick to make that I think I may just have to do a tutorial. I didn't have a pattern, just a measuring tape. It's made out of an old bedsheet. I ordered some jumbo wooden buttons for the closure. Imagine four. I'm not sure if the 70s tie is my style, but it works for now.
There's something a little sexy to me about a dress made from an old bedsheet. I mean, who knows how many people over the decades have done who knows what on it and here I am traipsing around like it's appropriate.

Oh My Vintage
Regardless of how busy I am with school and babies and personal art projects, vintage always has a place in my heart and in my closet (and dresser and chest of drawers). I have lots of pretty things that will be in my shop soon. (The black dress is a really pretty 1960s wiggle dress in perfect condish.) So exciting! I'll let you know the minute they post to my shop.
In the meantime, let's clear out some space for the new stuff. Here's a coupon code: CLEAR20 for 20% off or you can use READER for free shipping!

Lust List: Dresses
This past week, Kate over at Scathingly Brilliant wore a really pretty black and white dress from ASOS. I had never even heard of that site before, but when I checked it out-- Oh Happy Day. For me anyway, maybe not for James and his bank account. Shouldn't've given me my own card, James :) (I'm joking, you guys! I have my own money anyway...)
Such pretty styles and all with alternative color choices! The mint green one is out of stock right now, but all the others are available and in the sale section. Really reasonable prices in the sale section- like between $15 and $30. What?!

Little Green Update
I added some sweet new (terribly old actually) dresses to my vintage shop. You likey?
This is a yoke style dress, $8. It is the springiest shade of green and I personally think it would look adorable over skinny jeans with some sandals come Summer. Those flowers and matching buttons really float my boat.
Sure, it's damaged goods (check out the the listing), but aren't we all?

Goodwill, Good Lesson
So yesterday, the kids and I went to Goodwill (50% for Veteran's Day- WooHoo!) and Beatrice really embarrassed me. It's probably the first of many embarrassing moments in public with my kids. On the whole, though, I think the experience worked out for the best.
The lady in front of us was a mean, sour, bitter old thing. Making faces and saying negative things and just generally showing a nasty spirit. Well. Beatrice HIT her. Didn't say anything or whatever. Just hit her.
What would you have done? I apologized to the woman (who asked "Do she don't like me?") and brought Bea back over to stand with me. It took forever to get through the line, but once we were back at our car we had a little talk.
I told Bea that even when people are mean and sour, we mustn't hit them or be mean back to them. Even if they seem like they need a good whack, we must try to be kind and sweet. We must always maintain our own cheerful disposition, regardless of other people's attitudes.
And that's what integrity is, right? The quality of being unimpaired by our surroundings. I hope I can take my own advice and be the example I ought to be for her!
Aaaaaaaand here is the dress I found on the dollar rack:
It comes to just below the knees.

Vintage Love
I was pretty stoked to find this awesome chevron dress recently! I love the pastels and it goes so well with my new flats and head scarf. But, alas- it doth not fit :( So somebody else will get to enjoy it :)

What I Wore: Vintage Sunday
Am I the only person who loves this dress? I love the whole outfit, but when I wore it to church, I got some funny looks.
What do you think, is this a DO or a DON'T? (be honest)
The whole look just makes me happy. I almost died when I found the shoes- vintage Faryl Robins, suede and color blocked! (And my size :) The purse is a loose mesh that feels very nice and the belt is really the only belt that could possible go with this dress. All from Goodwills around town- 3 separate ones.
