Wavy Navy Wednesday!

…actually isn’t “Wavy Navy” a name given to the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve? Anyway, I'm not sure, but I'm unable to think up another name.  : ( So wavy navy it shall stay.

Don’t worry; this won’t be a regular spot on my blog, as I don’t have a lot of navy related treasures. So my deary-dos you can sigh a sigh to end all sighs ;)
I just thought I would share these two recent acquisitions from the weekend, before they get put away in the old cabinet with the rest of ‘em.
***

In my opinion, this little swinging pendant brooch was quite a find- mother spotted it as I was too busy being transfixed by a portable hanging wardrobe at the time. Twas really nice as well, but far too pricey if you ask me. The wardrobe thingy, not the brooch!

This portrait of a handsome young sailor has been cut out, then sandwiched between some Perspex- you must all know how I like me Perspex jewellery by now, eh! Quite effective I thought.  Oh and what about his wavy locks? Well, I do like a nice wave me. : D

 ***

The second is a little more common- and I’m only saying that because the seller had two! I picked the better of the two (naturally!) and went merrily on my way. As you can see its a ring…. with enamelling…. say’s “ Royal Navy”…not much more I can say, as it’s pretty and obvious what it is!

Ah, I didn’t tell you that it was silver, did I… and a bargain to boot! As you can imagine I was extremely pleased to find it, as I do have a hard time finding affordable ye olde rings that fit my slim fingers. I now have visions of wearing my RAF, ATS and RN rings all at once- haha! Well I can’t show my allegiance to only one of the services- it wouldn’t be fair!

By the way, I won’t really wear them all together! ; ) Yes I'm mad, but not that mad!

And before I forget, the weekend also sorted out my RAF Friday problem- big smiles.
I don't like to wish the week away as this year has gone quickly enough as it is, but I'm now looking forward to RAF Friday!

Bell- Bottom George.

Tickety's Tip Top Tunes

This weeks sheet music is actually from the very first George Formby film I ever saw. Of course it goes with out saying that I became an even bigger fan after watching it! I now have the dvd box sets!!!!

the sheet music....

In this clip our George has been asked to sing a song on behalf of his ships company for their BBC radio performance....

I think you can watch the film in it's entirety on the tube, if you so wish! But I hold no responsibility if you are bored by the end or even after the rather lovely overture- I am quite aware that he's like Marmite and not to every ones taste.. Bless him!

If you do watch it, or have seen the film, then look out for the most perfect fox terrier EVER.
What could be better for a hat fancier like myself, than a dog that pinches hats... huh?
(Disclaimer: I do not advocate the nicking of hats or any other vintage apparel (or anything!)- ''I'm a good girl'' she said as she tilted her head, fluttered her lashes, and smiled ever so sweetly....no really, I am!)

... and because I just had to show you...
The pooch about to pounce upon George's hat!

....turned out nice again!

The Spirit of Christmas Past.

Christmas day 2011

Oops! Looks like Christmas totally passed this old blog by! I feel thoroughly ashamed of myself, yet at the same time feel that the result of my lack of posting left me a lot less stressed than previous years!

Christmas does not agree with me. I have so many ideas of things to do, but when the time comes all my enthusiasm dwindles and I’m left well and truly down in the dumps…. as well as extremely exhausted!

I did however feel chipper enough to make both my Grannies and my own Christmas cake, Christmas cards, a few presents (at the last second- nothing new there!) and a few Christmas decorations- nothing too fancy though!

Of course Mr. S. Clause found time to visit the Tickety Boo household on Christmas Eve (Hurrah!) and on Christmas day all my gifts were opened with much excitement (even if they were opened at some abnormal time in the morning!) You must hand it to the chap- he certainly knows what this girl likes… though you can’t give him all the credit- I have an inkling that Santa’s little helpers do most of the leg work!

I have quite a selection of goodies to show you, so I shall start with the dinky items! My jewels…..

A little pup!

Kingfisher  Celluloid brooch( I love things with birds on!)

1940's RN silver sweetheart brooch- which is the first

Here’s to a happy and prosperous New Year Folks. Chin Chin!

Sincerely yours
