This Shames England...

The scenes in London were bad enough, with the Home Secretary having to issue orders to the police that a), they shouldn't have needed, and b) they appear to have ignored.
...last night, Suella Braverman urged officers to use the 'full force of the law' against shows of support for Hamas or bids to intimidate the UK's Jewish community. She issued a warning to police chiefs that the waving of Palestinian flags and chanting 'may not be legitimate' if it is deemed to be a show of support for acts of terrorism.

But this! This is practically a declaration by the police that they are perfectly fine with support for terrorism on the street of England.

Police said 'minor disorder' ensued as they tried to disperse the crowds, meaning the suspect and another man were able to escape and are now being looked for.

This was not 'minor disorder', this was a declaration by a hostile foreign power that we have allowed into our country and that now acts as a fifth column on our streets, openly. Without hinderance from those we pay to prevent such displays.

Those Wheels Grinding Too Slowly Again...

A trial relating to the alleged non-recent sexual exploitation of children in Halifax has been delayed by a year.
Amjad Hussain, also known as Amjad Ditta, is among 16 men charged in relation to the alleged abuse of three teenage girls in Halifax between 2006 and 2009.

And why single him out? Well, he's... a police officer.

His co-accused are:
Mohammed Vaqaas Abbas, 30, who denies three counts of rape and three of supplying a class C drug
Nadeem Adalat, 34, who has pleaded not guilty to four charges of rape and four of supply of a class C drug
Sajid Adalat, 44, who denies rape
Waseem Adalat, 33, who denies two counts of rape, as well as single counts of trafficking, supply of a class C drug and common assault
Christopher Eastwood, 45, who has pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and two counts of supply of a class C drug
Mahtab Islam, 46, who denies six counts of rape, three of supplying a class A drug, three of supplying a class C drug, two of sexual assault and one of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice
Mohammed Rizwan Iqbal, 34, who denies a charge of rape
Ishtiaq Latif, 32, who has pleaded not guilty to sexual activity with a child
Asad Mahmood, 33, who denies two counts of rape, one of trafficking and one of common assault
Younis Mohammed, 34, who has pleaded not guilty to rape and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent
Shahzad Nowaz, 40, who has denied rape, supply of a class C drug and making threats to kill
Shazad Nazir, 44, who has pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and two of supply of a class C drug
Sohail Zafar, 36, who has denied rape and supplying a class C drug
Nadeem Nassir, 39, who faces charges of rape, supplying a class C drug and making threats to kill
Khalifa Mughal, 36, who faces six counts of rape, as well as single counts of supply of a class C drug, supply of a class A drug and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice

You have to wonder what Christopher's doing in that list, don't you?

The trial has been listed for October 4 next year.

Why so long?

Ditta is on unconditional bail.

Favourable treatment?

The 15 other defendants are on bail with conditions, including to live and sleep at their home address and inform police of any plans to travel outside the UK.

Yeah. I'm sure that'll happen...

Good Question...

Abdul was the twin brother of Abdullah who was killed fighting the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad in Syria in 2016, he was 18. Their brother Jaffar, 17, was killed in 2014 in the country while trying to fight the government there. They are survived by fourth brother, Amer, a former finance student, who also travelled to Syria and remains there.

But I think I know the answer. Do you, Reader?

I Don't Think This Is What Marvin Gaye Meant...

“She is walking the streets when she goes missing from home. The local Asian males got to know, through the grapevine, that this child would perform oral sex in return for alcohol, drugs and cigarettes.”

In other words, these 'Asian' (read, overwhelmingly Pakistani in origin) males spread the word amongst other males of their debased 'community', secure in the knowledge that their words would never fall onto the ears of anyone who would go to the police with this knowledge.

Think on that, the next time some 'Guardian'-reading muesli-chewer states that tarring all members of a 'community' with the same brush is 'racist'...

The case was not proceeded with at the time due to the unwillingness of the girl to pursue the complaint, although semen was found on her clothing. It was later matched to Suman by police investigating him for the subsequent rape of a boy.

Words fail me....

BAME Vulnerability To Covid19 Still A Mystery...

Will scientists ever get to the bottom of it?
Police were last night forced to close Manchester's Curry Mile for the second time this week as crowds defied the local lockdown to celebrate Afghan Independence Day. Hundreds spilled onto one of the city's busiest streets where they waved flags, set of flares and even danced on car roofs.
Wilmslow Road in Rusholme, known as Curry Mile for its array of South Asian cuisine restaurants, was shut only last week amid similar scenes for Pakistan Independence Day.
Well, thank goodness St George's Day is behind us, eh?

It's Not Training That's Needed...

A blind man who was refused entry to a restaurant with his guide dog has instigated a landmark licence review which could set a precedent for disability training in the hospitality industry.
Why should 'training' be the catch-all here? And why should it apply - as of course it will - equally to all, when the issue is with a small subsection of society?
The Royal National Institute of Blind People complained to Tower Hamlets council on Mr Ortega’s behalf. It has triggered a licensing review, believed to be the first of its kind for a restaurant in the UK.
The charity wants conditions added to the diner’s licence, which will ensure staff have to go through training so they know the rules around discrimination against service dog owners.
Where did this latest incident happen, anyway?
Mr Ortega, a software engineer, and his colleagues were refused entry to the Indian restaurant last July.
Ms Fothergill said: “When Mr Ortega complained, the manager was called but he also confirmed guide dog Mercer was not welcome. The manager told Mr Ortega that not everyone liked dogs and that he should show some understanding of Asian culture.”
The restaurant is in Canary Wharf, London. Not Hyderabad.
He added that he had been to Manjal before with Mercer and had not been turned away. Naveen Bhandari, from Manjal, later wrote a letter to Mr Ortega apologising for the incident and offered the group a complimentary meal.
He said managers had realised their mistake and were going to allow Mr Ortega to dine there — but in the 15 minutes while they were preparing a table for him he had left.
See? It's not 'training' that's needed here. It's huge, swinging fines, or the immediate year's closure of any restaurant trying to get away with this.

The Changing Face Of Christmas...

I took a day off yesterday and went on a trip to the Bury St Edmunds Christmas market with some work colleagues.

If you've not been, I thoroughly recommend it - Bury St Edmunds is a lovely little town, lots of small cobbled streets, independent traders, an astounding cathedral with lovely grounds, and the Christmas Market itself was huge. It bills itself as the biggest in the UK, and that's not a vain boast.

We had a great time wandering around sampling the various cheeses, liqueurs, preserves and other local produce, and despite having all my presents bought already, I couldn't resist buying a few more (ok, a LOT more!). When we'd done the main market and needed a rest, we had some lovely tea at the quirky little Edmundo Lounge, just off the main area and refreshingly free of Christmas Market shoppers.

Making our way back to the main market from there down the little cobbled side streets to pick up some things we'd noted down but wanted to get last so as not to carry them around all day, we were met with this jarring reality of Christmas in modern Britain:

Yes. They are exactly what they look like - anti-Muslim terrorism barriers. I wouldn't say the sight of them spoiled the day, we still had a lovely time.

But even so...is this what we can now expect every Christmas, even in the smallest, most quintessentially English town? How very sad.

And how very avoidable...

That Telling Phrase...

..."in his native Pakistan":
His lawyer Mr Ben Rich told the hearing: 'Dr Awan's conduct was at the lower end of the spectrum. He has undertaken courses to educate himself on the impact of social media as well as his reporting obligations in respect of vulnerable children. He has continued practising since 2016 without any further issues.'
He needed to take courses for that...?

Ah, well. He's Canada's problem now.

And...That's Different To Now, How?

Basu said: “We have done a lot of contingency planning to put things in place. But there are some things you can’t put in place. So there is no contingency planning for not being given passenger name records.
“It would create an immediate risk that people could come to this country who were serious offenders, either wanted or still serial and serious offenders committing crimes in this country, and we would not know about it. ”
So, it'd be just like it currently is, then? And it'd still take us ages to get rid of them? Especially if they claimed asylum...
“As an organisation we have prided ourselves for a very long time … of being an organisation that wants to be anti-racist, inclusive, wants to be diverse.
“What we must not do at any point, now or in the future, is lower our standards in terms of integrity and professionalism, diversity, inclusion.”
You've already lowered them. To the point that the public wonder now if you even have any standards.

They Do Things Differently In Russia...

Tensions between Roma people and Russian villagers in the region of Penza boiled over last week, leading to a deadly brawl, arson attacks, forced evictions and even accusations of a hidden US hand in the violence.
Videos posted from the village of Chemodanovka in the Penza region showed houses owned by Roma families on fire after an ethnic Russian man was stabbed to death during a mass brawl along racial lines.
Four more were admitted to hospital after the street fighting, which was said to have been caused by complaints from Russian villagers against the Roma over sexual harassment.
This, however, isn't the West. There were no immediate recriminations and pledges that people would be arrested and vilified for 'racism'/
Then, suddenly, the Roma were gone, leaving behind 90 empty houses.
Heh!
The governor’s office said it believed 650 Roma people had left the village of Chemodanovka, as well as the neighbouring village of Lopatka, but not by force.
Mmmm, of course. That happens all the time.
When the region’s governor, Ivan Belozertsev, arrived to try to relieve tensions, he took the unusual tack of blaming the US.
What's unusual about that..?
“America, the west, has poured enormous amounts of money into preparing people here … they’re in every region, including ours, and they don’t want to solve problems, they want to destabilise the situation. They bring fake information here,” he told a crowd of residents on Sunday.
Lots of questions being asked in the progressive media. None of them being 'Why does this keep happening to this ethnic group?'...

Sympathy For The Family Of The Devil Now..?

The family of a mum who was kicked to death on the street yelled out 'scum' as her murderer 'smiled' when he was taken down to the cells to face more than 18 years behind bars.
A domestic? Well, no.
Florin Ion was jailed for life after murdering 47-year-old Julie Hunt, a complete stranger to him, near Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock while she was on her way to work at around 8.30am on Friday, April 20 last year.
The defendant, who was 31 when he carried out the brutal attack, knocked Julie to the floor when the two of them came face to face. He then proceeded to kick and stamp on her head in full view of several passers-by, fracturing her bones and causing severe brain injuries.
Strange name. Not very Essex, is it?
Ion, from Romania, had only been in the country for around four months when he savagely assaulted Julie.
He'd been on a bus to catch a ferry back to his homeland when it stopped at a Lakeside stop for a comfort break.

Already at that stop was the victim, on her way to work. She made the mistake of catching this creature's eye as he ran for a bus he thought was his.
The callous attack was witnessed by several people as they made their way to work on that Friday. Mr Stocks, who was driving the tanker, attempted to intervene, pulling a crowbar out of his truck to try and stop Ion.
But the court heard how Ion's aggression only intensified when bystanders approached him.
Nevertheless, they ran him off, and held him until police arrived. Sadly, far too late for the victim. You'll no doubt be wondering if he tried an insanity defence?
Mitigating on Ion's behalf, Paul Mendelle explained how Ion thought the victim was going to kill him.
/facepalm
Five independent experts examined Ion during the course of last year to determine whether any underlying mental health issues could explain the unprovoked attack.
All of them concluded that there was no explanation for the incident other than Ion's anger
All this delayed the trial. But it's only taxpayer money, after all.

The most shocking thing was the judge's summing up:
Judge Lynch passed a sentence of life, with a minimum tariff of at least 18 years and four months.
In her sentencing remarks, she said: "I also take into account the family of the defendant - their pain too I appreciate is great.
"I hope this can be conveyed to them afterwards - it is a tragedy for many people."
How heartwarming.

"Nice Progressive Society You Got Here...Be A Shame If Anything Happened To It."

A Birmingham primary school that taught pupils about LGBT rights as part of a programme to challenge homophobia has suspended the lessons indefinitely until a resolution is reached with protesting parents.
Wait, didn't they say they'd stand firm?
Previously Parkfield said they would continue as normal after the Easter holidays.
What changed?
Mohammed Aslam, a spokesperson, said: “We welcome these developments and reiterate that the school needs to work with parents in a spirit of partnership and cooperation and not against them in educating their children.”
Isn't it precisely this sort of craven capitulation in the face of religious dogmatism and refusal to integrate that drives the so-called 'right wing backlash' against Islam?

So why do they do it?

Not Receiving Attention For The Right Reasons....

The deadly shooting of 20-year-old Eric Torell who had Down’s syndrome and autism in August has received great attention.
Because it's a case of 'OMG! The police shot a member of a Victim Group® (even though he appeared to be armed and disobeyed instructions but that doesn't matter because, hey, didn't we say Victim Group® loud enough?)!'. And not for the reason questions should be asked...
New information reveals that three officers fired 25 shots. Three of those hit Eric – one in the stomach and two in the back one of which was deadly.
25 shots fired, and 22 of them went elsewhere but at the target?! Who the hell teaches at their firing range, the North Yorkshire Police instructor..?

Or maybe the question should be, what sort of police officers are they recruiting?
Swedish police officers resign daily, too few apply to academy, entry requirements are lowered, certain groups accepted for quotas, while others are rejected despite passing tests.
Well, well, well....

Rama-Dan-a-Ding-Dong!

Note that 'must do' is the headline, and only in the subheading is it clearly not mandatory...
To support employees who are observing Ramadan, Peninsula Employment Law director Alan Price has provided some key tips for employers.
Oh boy. *girds loins*
Fasting during sunlight hours will have a different effect on each individual, although the likely impact will be to lower productivity levels of employees, especially towards the end of the day.
Managers should be understanding of this and take practical steps to reduce the effect, such as scheduling important meetings early in the day or allowing employees to have a period of rest when they are showing fatigue.
Great! Siestas for all! I mean, who wouldn't want to emulate the economic powerhouses that are Spain and Mexico?
As daylight hours increase, observing Muslims will be required to start their day earlier than normal to eat a meal in the early hours, before sunrise. This can lead to a substantial gap before the working day starts and the employee is likely to be detrimentally affected by a long working day. Where possible, offering flexible working hours during Ramadan, such as starting earlier, will help the employee as they will be at work during the hours they have the most energy. Additionally, it will allow them to finish work earlier and avoid strenuous mental or physical activity during the later hours of the day.
Fine. But that also applies to people who are naturally early birds, doesn't it?

And what if a business's main work is done early morning? Should they hire more staff because their current ones aren't feeling up to it?
Flexibility around the employee’s duties can also be considered. For example, requiring them to attend a client lunch while fasting may not be appropriate. Instead, consider whether the location of the meeting can be amended or agree that food will not be served.
So you'll inconvenience Joe, Susan, Parvin, Vilkas and Yoshi so as not to upset Mohammad?
Employees who observe Ramadan may submit requests to take a substantial amount of holiday over the month.
And who'll do the work, if there's a holiday rota and everyone else booked theirs first?
Colleagues are often an employee’s greatest support at work. Fasting and fatigue during Ramadan can affect the employee’s personality, however, by making them short-tempered or irritable. To increase understanding across the workforce, employers can provide employees with general information on Ramadan, the religious requirements and how this may affect fellow members of staff.
"Sorry you got a punch on the nose, Bob, but you see, it's not a disciplinary matter, because it's Ramadan'. "
Simple steps like suspending cake mornings for a month can also help employees feel more comfortable.
Not the ones who like cake, it won't!

From my cold dead hands, chum!

You know, I think I liked Alan Price better when he was warbling about his dancing bear...

Ah, Wonderful, Enriching Diversity!

The Old Bailey heard that the 16-year-old victim and friends were in Plashet Road the afternoon of October 12 when a Mercedes containing Miah and his stepson, Yasin Patel, pulled up near them.
As the group scrambled in different directions, Patel chased down and stabbed the 16-year-old multiple times in his left leg and chest, Miah joining in the attack while he was on the ground.
Meanwhile Islam, of Fowler Road, Forest Gate, was having his hair cut in a nearby barber shop. Grabbing a baseball bat from the boot of his car, he approached Miah from behind and struck on the back of his head, fracturing his skull. He then hit him again after he fell to the floor. Islam drove away from the scene but returned to the barbers a short time later — while police and paramedics tended to the injured boy.
Just a normal day in Forest Gate, nothing to see here....
Investigating the attack, Detectives from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command uncovered CCTV footage of Islam arriving in his BMW and visiting the barbers before the brawl.
After detectives tracked down the BMW, Islam’s solicitor contacted police the following day to say Islam would hand himself in. The next day, October 23, Islam was arrested and charged.
The story behind this should be interesting, shouldn't it?
“It appears that Islam was not involved in the initial fight which Titu was a part of, but he took it upon himself to casually arm himself with a baseball bat and carry out an alarming, sudden attack on Titu which resulted in a critical head injury from which he could not recover,” said Det Sgt Perry Benton, who led the investigation.
“Patel was identified as the person who stabbed the 16-year-old victim who fortunately did not suffer serious, lasting injury. The motive for this attack is unclear, although we believe it may have been due to a disagreement between Patel and a relative of the victim.
“This was a despicable show of violence in broad daylight on a residential street which resulted in a man dead and a young victim stabbed, and two people now facing long jail terms for their part in this incident.”

"Is That A Phone In Your Pocket..?"

"...or are you just pleased to see me?"
At a medical tribunal Yasin, who was working as a locum at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, denied their claims saying the women may have been confused as he had a Nokia Candybar handset and car key fob in his trouser pocket.
As excuses go, it's pretty novel.
Panel chairman Richard Tutt said: “Dr Yasin abused the special position of trust a doctor occupies and demonstrated sexually motivated predatory behaviour towards two junior female colleagues in the workplace, who were vulnerable by virtue of Dr Yasin’s respective seniority.
Having sexually assaulted Miss B, within a period of approximately two hours, Dr Yasin, from Birmingham, persisted in his sexually motivated predatory behaviour when he then sexually assaulted Miss A.
That's showing a lot more stamina than we'd expect of an NHS worker..!
“His behaviour towards Miss A, the more vulnerable of the two complainants, was particularly persistent as he continued in his actions twice after she had moved away from him.
Bang to rights!
“Subsequently, Dr Yasin has shown limited insight into the less serious allegations made against him, and has shown little or no insight in relation to the more serious aspects of his behaviour.”
Well, I suspect it's no biggie in his own country.

So Just What Are Your 'Institutional Values', Then?

Bosses at Strathclyde University were forced to send a memo to the 400 students and 250 staff asking them to stop with their 'inappropriate' toilet habits.
Were people taking their mobiles into the loo? God, I hate that and...

Oh.
The memo, posted on Thursday, was sent by the operations management team of the University's Technology and Innovation Centre. It read: 'Given the incidence of people pooing in bins, showers and the likes, can I please remind all TIC occupants that the toilets have been provided for that specific purpose.
'All bodily fluids, solids and toilet paper must be disposed of down the toilet.
'While I appreciate that the TIC population is multi-cultural and different countries have different practices, here in the UK the accepted practice is to use only the WC.'
Naturally, the university let out a screech of alarm at the thought that the sort of people who can't use a First World toilet properly might feel singled out, and came down like a ton of bricks on the poor sod fed up of scrubbing human excrement off the shower tiles.
The university apologised for offence caused by suggesting that ‘multicultural’ practices may be behind the poo problem. Strathclyde University spokeswoman said: ‘We’ve apologised for any offence caused to colleagues.
‘The email contained sentiments completely contrary to our institutional values and should not have been sent. It was recalled as soon as it came to our attention and we swiftly issued an apology to staff.’
That's a great advert for Strathclyde University, isn't it? "Come and be educated here, where if you want to shit on the floor, you can!!"

We've Changed, And Not For The Better...

A Tweet from Tim Newman yesterday threw into sharp relief the changes we've seen in ... well, just my lifetime:

Quite. I don't recall the Leader of the Opposition openly fomenting revolution at those times, either. as Longrider points out. I may have disagreed with their politics, but there was no question that back then, Labour had politicians of stature. Now? They have monsters in red rosettes.

The roll call of the dead is quite telling, too:
Khadija Saye and Mohammed Alhajali are the first people to be named as victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.
The family of Saye, an artist whose work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, told Sky News that she had been killed.
The death of Syrian refugee Alhajali was confirmed by Albdulaziz Almashi, the co-founder of the Syria Solidarity Campaign in the UK, where he worked.
You'll be hard pressed to find any gor blimey, guvnor, salt of the earth cockneys in this roll call.

Which perhaps goes some way towards understanding the sense of entitlement and inability to believe that 'the authorities' aren't in some way concealing the fate of their loved ones for some nefarious purpose...
Beinazir Lasharie, a resident and local Labour councillor, said: “We’re a nuisance to the council. Their attitude is: ‘How dare so many ethnic minority foreigners who are not well off live in these ugly flats?’”
Lasharie had been evacuated from her flat in a block next to the tower, and was uncertain about when she could return. “They don’t care about us, they don’t listen to us. It’s as if they want us to move out. They are socially cleansing us across the borough.”
If 'socially cleansing' means 'moving people who cannot afford to live in Kensington without the taxpayer's help to cheaper areas', then, frankly, I'm all for it.

Why is it necessary that we house them in desirable areas? I'm happy to miss out on the 'benefits' of having a diverse culture:
Sentencing, District Judge Tanweer Ikram said: "The whole country, if not the whole world, has been shocked by what has taken place in the last few days in relation to the fire at Grenfell Tower.
"The horror is not to be underestimated. The dignity of the dead must always be respected.
"What you have done by uploading those photos shows absolutely no respect to this poor victim. To show his face as he lies there is beyond words.
"That view is shared in the horror and disgust that is shown by those people that have uploaded messages on your profile.
"It is an aggravating feature that when people said to you 'This is really sick, just call the police' and 'call the cops rather than post photos', you didn't. "You didn't remove the photos."
The judge accepted Mwaikambo had no previous convictions and was remorseful for what he did, but with the events of the fire the case was "unprecedented". Mwaikambo, of Testerton Walk, was given six weeks for each charge to run consecutively and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and and costs of £85.
There really are no words.

"Give Us The Failing School And No One'll Get Hurt!"

A failing Muslim school has been shut down by Ofsted - but bosses argued being closed could lead to the radicalisation of students.
Sounds familiar...
The Trust argued that children attending the school were avoiding potential 'radicalisation' during 'unregistered home schooling' by ultra-religious family members.
Also sounds like the Trust isn't discharging its statutory duty to report this to the Prevent project...
It was also submitted that the school addressed the 'fine balance of the requirements of parents seeking a very conservative and traditional Islamic education with the need to introduce a wider modern context.'
If that's the education they want, why are they here, in a modern, mostly-secular, liberal country?
Pupils, particularly girls, would face the prospect of no schooling at all were Ayasofia shut down, it was said.
Which is illegal, and should see parents hauled before the courts, no?
