The Big Love

Ding ding ding!

Know that, when I feel that urgent need to adapt in a foreign land, you're the ones I want to call up. Only you can straighten out my ideas and tell me to shut my mouth.

Know that, when I need validation of an identity, I think of you all. After years of growing up together, you've become like a lighthouse that flags me home whenever I stray.

Know that, when the weather is gloomy and making new friends is hard, I look through Facebook photos of all of us because they're like fuel that propels me headlong, keeping me going.

For Ranj - because you're my crazy babe :D

For Sarah - because you give me all the strength I'll ever need.

For Steph - because you're priceless, and you know it :P

For Gitz - because you're nothing short of brilliant.

I know we all move on, but the thing about Friendship is that it stays with you - continually grounding you, pushing you forward, cushioning your little falls.

It's Friendship that's given me heart. Love you all <3

A Day of Homework

Okay, I've got 4 worksheets left to complete for psychology. 3 of them is just having to finish off some last bits and pieces, but there's one which is fully due next Tuesday. Literature mock exams are continuous for three days (Wed, Thurs, Fri), Maths mocks next Friday, Psychology mocks tomorrow, History mocks on Monday. Hm.

Not half bad, I guess. At least it's not all in one day.

But that just means I'll have to study more.

Oh, did I mention? I went to watch 'Seventeen Again' with Shu Yee yesterday, starring Zac Efron. I didn't expect much from the movie, so I came out of the cinema feeling satisfied. LoL. We had a Ben & Jerry's Cheesecake Chocolate Chip ice cream for the movie, and some gummi bears from WHSmith. And then... *drumroll*... We went to feast on Malaysian food! At this restaurant called 'Me Old China'. Shu Yee had laksa, and I had Char Ho Fun.

I really really really miss Penang Laksa. And Char Ho Fun. And Popiah.

*drools*

Beach Day

Hey y'all! I went to the beach earlier with Holly and Elvina, though, for some reason, they've suddenly turned camera-shy. Here are the pictures I took anyway. And a lot of the pictures are just little 'moments' that I thought were beautiful/amazing/nice.

img_2606

Surprisingly, the beach has more activity than every other shopping centre (nearly all shops are closed due to Easter Sunday).

img_2607

Miss Holly Belcham! ... who refuses to look at the camera...

img_2608

Elvina, eating her hotdog. She claims it's not as nice as the other day when she shared it with Shu Yee. But then again, things are nicer when you have less of it, no? =P

img_2614

Thought the building back there was nice.

img_2615

La-di-da.

img_2622

If y'all see carefully, the sand here isn't exactly 'sand'. It's more like pebbles and rocks, very unlike the beaches in Malaysia.

img_2628

Hurling stones into the sea.

img_2632

'Careful now...'

img_2630

Cute moment.

img_26171

'Mum, look at me! Not at the sky!'

img_2634

This guy actually asked me, 'You taking a picture of me?' and I was like, 'Heh...'

img_2635

Fun at the beach.

img_2637

Ice-cream at the beach.

img_2636

Lovely little gathering.

img_2638

Having some little treats.

img_2639

Aww...

I think (know?) that we're not really allowed to take pictures of people, but since I'm only taking pictures in public venues, it's not really considered an invasion of privacy, is it? Coz I really do enjoy it. LoL

Right. The psychology worksheet next to me is calling my name. Ciao.

Vivian - Hahaha. Actually I just needed to keep in touch with my Mandarin, so it isn't a story or anything.

Krystle - Ah sweetie. It's not time for you to look at anyone's rant. See that book over there? It's calling your name. =P

Mun Yee - You lah baboon. I thought you need to learn Mandarin also right?

Kah Ying - 谢谢你的关心。其实, 我也没怎么了,只是有些时候不大觉得像自己。 我还是写个电子信函给你吧!

Hooi Ping - 1 out of 10? Half Banana? More like Complete Banana! XD

TJ - When boredom hits you, try it yourself. It's not half bad.

Gitz - You ah... *roars with laughter* ... If I were reading Sindi words, I would also be seeing patterns wei...

Saras - Maybe the dress is transparent... Who knows? It's a book cover, dear =P

Vennila - Nope, didn't visit Churchill's Chapel... What's the story? LoL

Sarah - Well, I hope that my comment on 'The Memory Keeper's Daughter' is still worthwhile. I think it's quite nice, and yes, it's worth the money, but you see first yeah. You know lah, me and you, our tastes in books are sometimes on the same length (i.e. Jodi Picoult) and sometimes clashing (i.e. The Book Thief). Haha.

Tabby - I won't really get in trouble lah, for putting up a kid's picture. *pause* Right?

Greenwich and Cambridge

Last Saturday, Ayne, Elvina and yours truly visited Greenwich and Cambridge (well, we basically went to see the whole Cambridge University hype). It cost about 25 pounds, but it was with a tour guide and we really did get to loads of stuff, so I guess it's not half bad.

This is out the some museum place with the Greenwich Meridian Line.

Overlooking from the museum.

Outside the museum. And sorry, folks, I've no idea what the statue is about.

img_0272

Do you see? Do you see? Kuala Lumpur! We're literally stepping on the Meridian Line! The time divider between East and West!

Elvina and me!

Ayne (in her favourite red coat) with me.

img_0279

Inside the museum... Isn't the kid adorable?

img_0284

Interactive screen-table thing!

img_0283

Voila!

img_0294

The Queen's summer palace. Or something like that.

img_0292

Along that stretch which leads to the Queen's palace. Reminds me of CLS's primary school hall. =P

Sorry bloggers, these are all the pictures I have of Greenwich and Cambridge. Battery went dead halfway, but if I can get more pictures of Cambridge, I'll post them here! Heh.

To all you lovely people

Sorry for not updating for so long. I know, I deserved to be shot in the head, then burnt until my flesh melts apart and the only accessories visible on myself are boils... But to make it up to you, I'm determined to post more entries today. XD

Half term was only a two-day break -Thursday and Friday - and unless you include Saturday and Sunday, it wasn't very much for a holiday. Still. Better than nothing.

We visited Elvina in Hove! I don't have all our pictures here, so I'll post whatever I have. On second thought, maybe I'll grab some of Shu Yee's pictures from Facebook as well, so you non-Facebookers can gloat at our silliness. =P

img_0238

In the bus on the way to Hove. Brighton and Hove are kind of like sister places - Brighton is more of a city, Hove is more of a residential place. Most homestay students (who don't live in residence, they live with a host family instead) stay in Hove because that's where most English families live. Elvina stays in Hove too, which is why we decided to visit her after getting permission from her host mother. =)

img_0242

Shu Yee. Smiling that cheeky smile. LoL

img_0244

Random picture of a house/apartment. Heh.

img_0246

Another random picture of a random house.

img_0249

Just thought that the scenery was really nice here. There were loads more sceneries near Elvina's home that were really awesome, but I thought it was too cold to bring out my camera and catch it. =P

img_0252

Hove Park!

img_0254

Playground in Hove Park. If it weren't for the kids there, *we* would be the ones on the swing/see-saw/whatever you find in playgrounds. XD

img_0255

Another part of the playground. I really want to try this!

Well, that's it for this post. Check out the next one!

SNOW

Even though it's titled 'SNOW', but it's not going to be entirely about snow. Haha. Well, it snowed on Monday and we had a day off school coz the teachers couldn't get in. Trains and buses were more or less completely stationary, and apparently, the Brighton Council (according to Aunt Christine) didn't have enough salt to spread over the roads - yes, they do that here to lower the freezing point of ice, so roads can hopefully still work (it's all the science stuff that I've always been an idiot at).

And er... to TJ: I know I said I'd try to get a video of the snow? But I couldn't figure out if my phone had a video application. Heh. That's 'noob' for you. XD

img_0115

Near the Brighton train station. I thought it looked pretty. Heh.

img_0116

Snowy trees! Yay!

Ayne (also from previous posts) and Sanjeev from Singapore.

My literature text! And I've put all these colourful sticker thingys. =)
