5 Months!

Mr. Zach is 5 months old. I am always behind writing these…

boys reading books.
So Mr. Zach is 5 months old. When I see babies this age I tend to think “wow that is just a cute baby blob, not much personality yet” and then I look at my own kids and I think “how does one little person have so many preferences, expressions, and so much personality!” Zachary has quite a bit of personality already. He is getting big(ger). He is a giant, he is in 9 month clothes now… yes that’s right. His feet are still tiny, which is a bit funny.

Boys chatting before story time
-Zach loves his brother and his dad. When we call Brian or he comes home from work Zach’s head whips around to see him and he doe all his best tricks to get his dad to pay attention. So funny how both boys are enamored by their dad. And Michael… he adores Michael.  He doesn’t mind Michael constantly smashing him, hugging him so tight only his little eyes are visible, or that Michael does not like to share with him. He smiles at his brother, gives him “kisses” and generally appears to enjoy the insanity and noise.

-I know I said Zach had found his voice… that was wrong, he has found it now. There is no volume control at our house. When the rest of us are talking he chimes right in. If you have spent any time with Brian, Michael, or me, you know we are a family of talkers, and Zach fits right in.  Church has become a…  delight.
-He still loves baths. He cries when they are over, gets so excited when you get him ready for the bath, and enjoys splashing and making a huge mess. He doesn’t even mind the actual getting clean part (Michael does).

first time "eating" solids.
-We started solids. He LOVES them. I’m pretty sure that Zach has a hard time understanding that he is smaller than the rest of us (why would he?) and anytime we eat at the table he thinks he also needs to eat. As you put the food to your mouth he opens and hopes that it ends up in his mouth instead of yours. He isn’t great at keeping the food in, or getting much down, but he wants to try. He also wants to try anytime Michael drinks from a water bottle. It is quite funny.

-He loves “shows”. Yes this is going to be a huge issue later. If Michael is watching a show he will do everything he can to maneuver himself to see it- a problem.

-He does not like to miss naptime or bedtime… or delay it. I love this about him. You can tell what time of day it is by how Zachary is reacting… 745 and he is a disaster.

I was a few minutes late to put him down for his morning nap and he put himself down.
same thing here. I was feeding michael lunch and zach went to sleep.
-Zach has a thing about sleeping by himself at night… he doesn’t like to do it. I know I am a softy, my sister in law has 5 great sleepers and I have 1.5. He sleeps awesome from 730-2 or 3am and then… then he sleeps great as long as he doesn’t have to do it alone. Annoying, we are working this. I’m a little torn, I am tired, but someday he wont like me, maybe I should enjoy these moments a little more.
-he likes to be on the same level as everyone else. If we are eating dinner at the table he wants to be in his highchair at our level.
-he does not like it when we leave his line of sight…. Except when he is sleeping. This works out well until you need to use the bathroom and then he is upset for a few minutes unless Michael’s presence is enough (that sometimes works).
-He likes to try and smother himself to go to sleep. We have started using the cuddly animal blanket things instead because they are less dangerous than the whole blanket but he still tries to do it. He rubs them against his nose to fall asleep.
-he takes a pacifier… that’s right, it’s grand. He can take it to college with him for all I care at this point (Michael didn’t take anything). Love it.
-He has such a sweet smile- his whole face lights up- love it, I love how happy he is, I hope he can keep this sweet disposition.
-He discovered the swings, he loves them as much as Michael does, I think we will be visiting the park even more now.

-pretty sure he is teething. everything goes in the mouth and there is a lot of drool.

- he is about to outgrow his infant carrier... and he is so heavy that i am over lugging this thing around.
We love this sweet little zach!

 Zach's concerned face.

can't sleep unless he is covering his face. yes i do go and remove it immediately.

He started making this face lately. one of us must do it, or else it is just a zach face.
see the puppy it was over his face, yes he did it himself. and see this bed, it is my bed. he thinks he should nap here, he doesn't care if we are with him, he just likes the bed.
he likes to sit up, not roll over, just sit and try and grab for things.

see, must be at our level when at all possible.
he sleeps, what a sweet sweet baby.
Michael loves to "hug" Zach-O. poor zach, his little head just pops up for air.
he has an interest in whatever we are eating. he looks a little bit jealous of Michael's frozen yogurt.

 Loves the swings.
this is a concerned face but trust me he is a fan.
as long as you look at him or have him near you he is happy.
 Happy zach-O
Mikey took these, I know shocking.
they look a little bit alike, but i think it is more the odd settings mikey pushed.

 sad baby!
 always chewing on something.
 happy easter, boys and dad.
 some people looking.

just chatting it up before dinner.
 normal zach face. always excited.
playing on the racetrack table. we are pretty sure this is where he will learn to stand.

 sweet baby.
loves the jungle gym or "zach-o's park" as mikey calls it.
