She Said Yes!

My darling little sister is getting married! yes that is right, little emily is engaged! look how happy she is, pretty sure this is a real smile. The big day is June 19th, and we could not be happier for them (we couldn't be happier... hmm that reminds me of wicked)! Congratulations Emily and Colin! Brian is excited to have another hostage in the family, it's about time he had a friend with all the crazies.

 and because they are engaged we can post this one too, though we will most definitely not be condoning any more kissing pictures!
 and her ring, isn't it pretty. I can't believe she is engaged!
And because I found it here is a photo of Brian and me the night we got engaged. It has been 8 years and let me just say friends you can tell it has been awhile. Michael saw a picture of our wedding on the fridge a few months ago and said "Mommy it's daddy and Emmy!", yes we have aged a bit over the past 8 years, but the laugh lines are worth it, right?
Emily getting engaged got me thinking of my brother in law (jared) and his wife (diana), when we got married it seemed like they had been married FOREVER, but thinking back, they had probably only been married 4 or 5 years (maybe less), and they were younger then we are now. We were talking about it and we came to the conclusion that "wow Jared and Di were just babies!" So now we are the Jared and Di, we are the ones with the kids that have been married FOREVER, it's strange to be on this side of things.

    Isn't that the truth! We were babies. Thank heavens we waited four years to have babies!!! We both needed to mature together I guess. Here's to 13 years now and five kids later. Crazy how time actually does pass by!

I got a job. That's right, I got a job. I heard the BYU-Idaho had quite the online degree program and I decided to check it out. Turns out they have a ton of online classes and they needed instructors with graduate degrees that weren't already employed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Turns out that's me! After a long interview process (no really it was quite long), I found out that I have been accepted to teach HS 391 Research Methods and Program Evaluation. I'm stoked. It is 10-12 hours a week from home, it's public health, it's teaching, it's perfect. We start September 15th, we a 2 week certification course starting next week. It should be interesting to see how we adjust to mommy having deadlines, but I'm sure we will be fine. The first semester is probationary and I'm teaching a pilot class so we shall see, even if it doesn't work out for future semesters it's awesome that it is for this coming semester. This almost m

Genius Idea

So I have this idea, I think it is brilliant, and I am really hoping someone reads this and 1. tells me someone has already done it and where I can access it, or 2. someone steals my idea and does it close enough to me that again I can access it. Ok so here is the idea, first let me describe the situation. You are a parent with small children and it is a cold/hot/rainy/snowy/windy day/, someone is contagious/your kid fell asleep in the car/your kids are having a meltdown and taking them out of the car and struggling with the 5 point harness might kill both of you and you need milk from the grocery store. Normally you would try and get it at a better time, send a spouse, live without, etc, but you can't because you need milk (or bread or eggs, pick an essential item), so you have an internal debate... am I going to risk it, am I going to pull them out of the car, run in, find the item, wait in line, and come back and struggle to get everyone back in or are we going to live without

Merry Christmas!

We are planning on having a very exciting Christmas at our house this year. We are super excited to announce (to all three people that read this that have already been told) that we are expecting another baby! Yay, the due date is December 22nd, so it is possible that we will actually have a very exciting Christmas, though in all honesty I am hoping for something more around the 16th than 25th.  We had an ultrasound today, and a few things. First off, I think this kid is going to give his/her older brother a run for his money. The ultrasound tech told us this was the most active baby she had ever seen, my response was pretty much, well you should have seen Michael 2 years ago. The baby is healthy, but... crazy. She had such a hard time taking measurements with all the flipping, flailing, and somersaulting.
