{Feed your Dreams, Starve your Fears}

On Friday  May 25th,  I took the plunge.......out of a perfectly good airplane......from 13,500 feet.......with a skydiver buddy in a jumpsuit that said 'student' on it.......and I didn't go splat.

I think I said 'Holy Crap' to myself 10 times before we actually went out of the plane's door. At least I didn't have to get my hands peeled off the door jam. I went quietly. Not one sound crossed my lips until we were free falling for a bit and I realized I wasn't going to die, at least not at that moment. I did my best 'wooooooow' and said nothing else until Mark, my skydive buddy who was not a 'student', pulled the chute and we started drifting around. It was surprisingly quiet up there and we were able to have a conversation.

Danny & Samantha jumped too, but were on the plane after me. Kids have no fear, at least they don't let on that they have any fear. They acted cool and calm. I was kind of hoping to see a teensy weensy sign of panic. They did not cooperate......at all.

How many kids get to skydive with their Mom? Wow, look at that fear on his face.

They both look shaken to the core, don't they? Kids.........

{Where Did 20 Years Go?}

On this day 20 years ago I was in North Shore University Hospital giving birth to my sweet baby boy. I can't believe he's 20. I can't believe I'm 49. He's was such a pleasure as a baby and has grown into an amazing  young man.

I'm driving to PA this afternoon to take him to dinner for his birthday. I'm sure I'll cry, just a little, when I drop him off at school and head home. Happy Birthday Danny!

{Goodbye 2011}

Tonight we'll say so long to 2011. It was a good year for our family. We had so many wonderful things happen and have so much to be thankful for.....a college graduation, two weddings, a grandchild on the way, a family vacation to Yellowstone that we'll never forget, two new sets of drums for Brian, Thanksgiving together in North Carolina,  a new-found hobby (quilting), an engagement, snowshoeing in Colorado, attending a college football game with Danny, my Mom's 70th birthday and Steph getting into vet school.

I'm sorry to see 2011 go, but I'm excited about what 2012 will bring. We're blessed to have a wonderful family and  a really sweet life. I only can imaging that this upcoming year will bring with it new & amazing experiences for our family. My "One Little Word"  for 2012 is "Thankful". I hope to go through next year recognizing exactly how much I have to be thankful for....the big, the small, the obvious and the obscure. I'll be incorporating it into my P365 +1.

Happy New Year! May it be a blessed one.

{The Boys of Fall}

Yesterday we drove to PA for the Lehigh-Holy Cross football game. It was family weekend at school so instead of taking a historical tour of Bethlehem we opted for the football game. We stopped at the staduim to pickup our tickets then drove to the other side if campus to pick up {Danny}. He's such a great kid.....he picked up some brown & white pom-poms for his Mom to cheer with.
We couldn't have asked for more perfect {football}weather. The skies were blue and the air was crisp. We had really good seats somewhere near the 50 yard line. The stadium was packed and the crowd was lovin' it. These kids play with so much heart.  Final score..... Lehigh 14- Holy Cross 7.  A great day for football.
