New look and new things to come!

I've been having a play around and changed the layout and look of our blog, I hope you like it!  Anyone who has recently been having a redesign will know that there is a little more fiddling about now but I think I've cracked it!  In fact I've made 3 new blogs in the last couple of days so I think that I'm fast becoming an expert with the new blogger design tools!!

The new blogs are for the ATC swaps and the new challenge blog that we will be starting soon so do call back for more news about them!

I think that's about all the technology I can take for now, phew.

Have a great weekend!

Photos from Saturday's Moonglow Techniques Workshop

Here are some of the ladies busily working away at the Moonglow Techniques workshop on Saturday.  It was a day jam packed with splishing and sploshing, scrunching, embossing and generally having a good time crafting.  It was non stop all day, in fact we ate our lunch and got straight back to it without much of a break.  I didn't take loads of photos through the day, I plain forgot, so I had a frantic few minutes at the end snapping a few of their makes.

Their makes included various techniques using Starburst Stains, Moonshadow Inks, Moonglow Embossing Powders, Fusible Webbing, and Fabulous Filigrees.

I did manage to grab a few ladies to show me some of their work in the photos before they finished packing away before going shopping.

Here's Jean displaying her background made with Moonshadow Inks and salt.

And here's Jean's amazing Moonglow embossed grape filigree, I really loved how she did this and the 2-tone effect that you can just about see in the photo.  I know Jean used Royal Burgundy Blue Moonglow Embossing Powder for the grapes, I'm not sure which were used for the leaves.  Gorgeous!

Here's Shirley who has gathered some of her background papers together to put away and Barbara who is still toiling away on her lighthouse filigree.

Barbara finished her filigree and proudly presents it.

She did a great job, I had everyone adding the smallest amounts of Moonglow EP onto the filigrees, in order to add 2 tone colour, after a few layers of clear UTEE.  It was great when the colours landed in the right places which is a very fiddly thing to do and everyone made the effort to give it a go and they all did brilliantly!

Here's Barbara's lighthouse close up, my terrible photo doesn't do it justice, but I think you can see she has gold at the top, stripey colours going down and that pewter looks fab for the rocks at the bottom.

Now for some of the other ladies work.  Look at this stunning sunflower, the colours are gorgeous in real life.  The colours are all from the embossing powders.

It was added to the pile of papers made.

And more...

Didn't they do well!

As I said before, unfortunately as some of the ladies had packed away and were shopping by the time I took the photos, I didn't get take photos of everyone or everything and the photos of the filigrees aren't brilliant but I'm sure you'll get a little idea of what they were up to and how great they all did decorating them.

Now Stef, (middle RHS) is off to France (to see our friend Batty) and will hold a workshop at her place with Batty's friends to share the fun.  I am sure the ladies there will love having a messy play and also what she has made to show them.

All in all, it was another great day!!

The bees are back!

You may remember me mentioning about Ian making our garden into a wildlife haven last June.  Well, we are really pleased to see that the cotoneaster plant has flourished and bees are back!

The plant hangs over our pond, I'm not sure what is in the pond now, but we hope we are helping whatever lurks within!

The grass is growing well and Hamish is now getting lost in it or at least we can't see him wandering about in there anymore (yes, it is that high already!), he's now made his own paths through it.  It's all set up ready for butterflies to visit.

Ian's favourite bit of the garden is a secluded area with a bird bath and table, it's just outside of our front room so a perfect place to view the comings and goings of all the birds that visit.

We've had a much better day weatherwise here today, at last!  It makes it so much nicer to enjoy the garden.  Hopefully we'll have more to come!

Exciting News...

Yes, our ATC swaps are coming back!  We have been asked about them a number of times and Janet, our new DT member is going to be running them.

We will be announcing the details shortly but in the meantime if you would like to look at the past swaps then head off now to view the gallery, there are over 900 ATC's to view, by theme, to wet your appetite until the new ones start!

Janet and Michelle were lifesavers yesterday.  Michelle had held a workshop and we were all happily chatting and packing away our things at the end of the day when Helen left the shop to go home.  Well, Helen had the shop keys, believe it or not I don't actually have keys to my own shop, I usually go with Ian or leave there with Helen.

Anyway, there we were, in my rush to run out of the shop to try and catch Helen who could have walked home any number of ways, I didn't take a phone, money or anything with me.  I couldn't find Helen on the route home and she wasn't there when I got there.  We tried ringing her mobile but no answer, I even searched Marks and Spencers in town!  Anyway, to cut a long story short, after buying a sturdy new padlock, Helen was found and returned to the shop with the keys. Phew!!  So thanks Janet, Michelle (for looking after the shop) and Helen (for coming back!).  All ended safe and OK.  I wonder if I can have my own set of keys now??

Style Stones meet Moonglow EP's

I've been a bad blogger this week!  But I'm back to show this beauty!!  It was made by Michelle Marshall, yes the same lady who had her first project in Craft Stamper this month!  I throw the odd challenge at the DT now and again and I had given Michelle some Style Stones.  Michelle used Moonglow embossing powders Spring Leaf and Hyacinth Blue on the stones before stamping a pattern into them.

If you are in the Skipton area on Friday Michelle and Janet are holding their Stampers Club here from 10.30am - 3.30pm.  Michelle will be showing how to decorate Style Stones like the ones above.  Please contact Michelle for more details at wilmarsh@sky.com

I had a workshop last Friday with children of 6, 12 and 14, their mum and their grandma, it was a fun day and they made lovely cards, they played with Starburst Stains and shrink plastic amongst other things.  Anyway, when I came to pack away I found Michelle's bracelet (above) on the table.  I thought it odd as I'd put it on the table in the shop with all the newest made cards.  I mentioned it to Ian who confessed that he had put it on to display it to the mum and grandma, I think he'll shoot me if he knows I've mentioned that on here!  I told him he wasn't to start carrying my handbag about!!!  He is a one!!

Finally for now, if you are interested in making the lovely collection above, there are some places left on Michelle's Music Collection Workshop tomorrow, you can book online HERE

Alluring Lady Tag

I used Tracey's Alluring Ladies unmounted stamp sheet to make this tag.  The background is Icicle Creek Starburst Stains with cling film on coated card which gives sharper shimmer to the marbling effect of the cling film.  I used the kiss stamp technique on the ladies dress.

I used silver mirri card to make a mirror that has a circle brass charm for a frame.

Here's a reminder of what else is on this stamp sheet...

Just a short post today, see I can keep it brief:)

Thanks for visiting!
