Happy Birthday Stacey!

 Today is my sister in law's 42nd birthday.  She's a wonderful SIL and the BESTEST mother ever!  Talk about being prepared....  this gal has it ALL!  I swear she comes prepared for everything!  Need a Bandaid, she's got it!  Need a safety pin, she's got it!  Need a cold drink or snack, she's got that too! Seriously, I think she carries a 7-11 in that purse of hers!  LOL! My niece and nephew are two of the greatest kids ever... and it's because they have such a GREAT mom!  Oh yeah, and they've got my brother too!  Bwah-ha-ha-ha!  Just kidding!  My brother knows I wuv him bunches!  Anywho, Stacey is a DIEHARD coffee drinker (like me!) so when I saw this phrase on Pinterest, I knew I HAD to use it for her card.  I have to tell you this little story about Stacey.  While on a family camping trip, my mom made coffee for everyone during breakfast.  Of course we all drank a few cups and went about our day biking, hiking, etc.  Around noon, Stacey said, "I'm not feeling well, I think I'll go lie down." After a few hours she came out of the tent and said, "I have the worst headache EVER!"  So she took some Tylenol and was feeling better by the evening.  Later that evening, as we're sitting around the campfire, mom makes some more coffee for everyone but this time Stacey happens to be watching her and all of a sudden Stacey shouts, "DECAFFEINATED??  Are you kidding me?  No wonder I'm feeling so bad!"  LOL!  Of course my mom was like, what's wrong with decaffeinated?  Like you have to ask!  OMG!  So that's one of our many funny camping stories and now my mom is banned from making coffee for everyone unless she uses "LEADED" as my brother likes to call it!

I made this card using "Morning Margaret - Have a nice day!" from Bugaboo Stamps.   OMG, isn't she a hoot!  You hens know how much I love funny people images, so Margaret is right up my alley.  Margaret, Mildred and Stella are my favs!  I printed the image onto some Classic Crest CS and colored her with my Copics.  I printed the sentiment and then stitched around the edges of each panel.  I added a little shading to the edges with some distress ink and tied a bubbly bow with this sheer dotted ribbon to finish it off.  That's it for today.  I hope you hens have a good Monday!

Take me out to the BALL GAME....

Afternoon hens! SAY WHAT? AFTERNOON?? LOL! Gotcha didn't I? Today's a TWO-FER day! That's always fun for the hens isn't it? Today I'm featuring the Freebie Friday image from Bugaboo Stamps! Now I'm far from being a baseball fan but I bet there are lots of you who have baseball kids in your family that this image would be great for. As for me, I've decided to pair it up with some reds and blues and use this as a July 4th card. Ya know, sort of the All American, Apple Pie sorta thing. Whadaya think? Hey, works for me! Tee-hee!

Ok, so I printed my image onto some Classic Crest CS and colored it with my Copics. These little "A Kids View" images are SUPER easy to color and are just SO adorable to me. Once the image was colored, I stitched it to some SU Basic Black CS and added the three brads underneath. I tied on some gingham ribbon and adhered the image panel to this Cosmo Cricket DP with a few dimensionals. That's all there was to it! SUPER EASY and SUPER CUTE! Be sure to pop in over at the Catch the Bug Challenge Blog and see some more creative ideas using this image. Oh and don't forget to pick up your FREE copy of this image (while available) over at Bugaboo Stamps!

Now before you fly the coop, I just want to let you hens know that this will be my last card as a designer with Bugaboo Stamps. I've LOVED working with this AMAZING company and Jodie is one super talented illustrator. But while this may be my LAST card as a designer, it certainly won't be my last Bugaboo Stamps card! No siree!! Can you imagine, no Stella and Gus in the hen house? NEVAH!! Tee-hee! Oh you hens will see them time and time again I'm sure! Me LOVEEE Stella and Gus! LOL! Thanks for EVERYTHING Jodie, Tammy, Rae Anne and the whole Bugaboo DT! You're the BESTEST! Mwah!

That's it from the hen house today! Have a WONDERFUL weekend! {{{hen hugs}}}

It's an Easter Egg Shower!!!

LOL! Today's Catch the Bug Challenge theme is April Showers!! Well, I decided to think "outside the box" on this one and thought I'd use something besides the normal umbrella/rain images. I thought these little Easter Bunnies with their eggs looked like an Easter Egg shower to me, and fits into an April theme as well since Easter is tomorrow! Ok, so maybe I'm crazy but that was my logic for this card.... ROFL!! Hey, but it's SUPER CUTE huh? I LOVE how this card turned out. These are little block images from Bugaboo Stamps and I began by printing each of them on the same setting, so they would all be the exact same size. I colored them with my Copics to match this cute DP from MME Stella & Rose collection and then adhered them to some SU Chocolate Chip. I stitched around the edges and decided the center needed a little something. So I made this little circle phrase in Word Art and punched it out with my circle punch and added a vintage brad in the center. To finish, I added this BEE-YOO-TI-FUL satin ribbon tied in a pretty bubbly bow! Be sure to visit the Catch the Bug Challenge blog and check out all the inspiration from the rest of the DT! If you play along over at CTB, you could win some Bugaboo Stamps images of your choice! Woo-hoo!

Now where'd I hide that darn egg???

Bwah-ha-ha-ha!! OMG, that's SO ME!! I have to count them before I hide them or I'll forget one for sure! I LOVE hidin' eggs too! None of that easy "out in the open" stuff if Aunt Jeanie's hiding eggs. Ok I admit, I do give my little niece a "hotter or colder" hint, but that's it. Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net Yeah, I'm a pushover for that cute face....

Today is the beginning of another Catch the Bug challenge. This week's challenge is 4+ layers! Can't get no easier than that for this hen! Ya'll know I LOVEEE layers. So whatcha think of Gus in his Easter Bunny suit? ROFL!! OMG, what a hoot! This is Gus - Hiding Eggs from Bugaboo Stamps. I printed Gus out onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored him with my Primsacolor pencils and Copics. You can play along in this week's challenge too. Just head over to the Catch the Bug blog and get all the details....

I'm also following the recipe in this week's Catered Crop FTR #9 challenge.

It's NEW RELEASE Tuesday!

Mornin' hens!! Today is new release Tuesday over at Bugaboo Stamps. Jodie has whipped up this adorable image in the Bugaboo Brats collection. Isn't she CUTE? I think she looks like she's deep in thought, so I decided to make this a card for a friend of mine whose father passed away last week. I suppose it's not your traditional sympathy card, but maybe this image will bring a smile to her face in knowing that I'm thinking of her.

I printed the image onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored her with my Copics. I cut her out with my Nesties and sponged some chalk ink around the edges. The DP is from an older DCWV pack called Cafe Mediterranean. I embossed the green DP with my polka dot folder and stitched around the edges.

I'm entering this card into two challenges, with the first being a color challenge, in Color Throwdown #134. Here are the colors:

Aren't they fun? Ooooh, I love them! I've never played in this challenge before so this was really fun for me.

The second challenge is a sketch challenge from Cute Card Thursday #157. And I didn't even color the sketch! Tee-hee! Looks like these two challenges were made for each other huh? Speakin of challenges, don't forget my That's Krafty Thursday #49 challenge below, k? Just think, YOU could be the next KRAFTY CHICK!

Ok, that's it for me today. I hope you hens all have a TEE-RIFIC Tuesday and I'll see ya back in the hen house bright n' early tomorrow mornin'. {{{hen hugs}}}

You're the cutest jailbird I ever did see...

... we sure would be delighted with your company!! In the Catch the Bug challenge of course!! ROFL!!

Yep, it's that time again, time for another Catch the Bug challenge. This week's theme is Monochromatic PLUS 3 buttons! Ooooh how fun!

I must admit, I've had this idea in my mind for several months now and finally decided to try it out. I think it turned out SUPER CUTE and it was fairly simple to put together.
I printed "Bentley-On the Inside" from Bugaboo Stamps and colored him with my Copics. I made the black frame with my square Nesties, using two sizes and cutting the second smaller one on the inside of the first. For the bars, I just cut a few thin strips of the black cardstock and glued them to the back of the frame and adhered it to the image with some foam tape.

For the background, I used an OLD brick texture plate on the grey cardstock and embossed a subtle brick pattern. I lightly rubbed some distress ink over the embossing so it would be a little more noticeable. I stitched the brick background piece to some white cardstock and zig zag stitched the sentiment below. To finish, I glued on the flat buttons above the image and adhered the panel to the black cardstock base. Here's the inside:

*snort* I thought of that one myself! LOL! OMG, now I can hardly wait for someone to have a baby so I have someone to give this to! Wanna see some more FABBY monochromatic ideas? Head on over to the Catch the Bug challenge blog and feast your eyes on tons of inspiration from the rest of the DT!! And when you're done there, we wanna see YOUR eye candy too! There's some FREE images in it for you!! Woo-hoo!! You can get all the challenge details on the Catch the Bug blog. Thanks for stopping by today, hope you hens all have a SUPER Saturday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon! {{{hen hugs}}}

Meet Miss B!

OMG, ain't she a hoot? Man alive, I LOVE this lady! {Note to Jodie - we need a Miss B collection! Purty pleeeease?} I think she looks like Gus' sister, whatcha think? Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha! What is it about "OLD" people that just cracks me up? Hmmmm, I guess if ya can't beat 'em, join 'em, huh? Hey - I'm there!! LOL!

This week's Catch the Bug challenge is "SCALLOPS", oooooh LOVE those!
Now let's see.....how'd this card get to be so doggone cute? Well, first off I printed "Miss B" from Bugaboo Stamps onto some Canson Manga Fanboy CS and colored her with my Copics. I created the slightly curved scalloped bottom with my Marvy Mega scalloped oval punch, by only placing half of the CS in the punch through the bottom! Ain't I clever? Tee-hee! I did the same thing to the SU Real Red CS and then stitched the two together. I adhered the image panel to this cute DP from MME's Stella & Rose Gertie collection. Yup, I'm lovin' these papers!! Continuing with the scalloped theme, I also added a small white scalloped border to the horizontal panel in the background and finished with a scalloped paper flower and some Baker's Twine! OMG, I LOVE this card!!! Now the question is, who to give it to? Ya know, this presents itself as a common problem for me, cuz not everyone thinks of being "OLD" quite like I do!! Hey, it beats the alternative, right? Hellooo? Might as well suck it up and ENJOY, cuz you only have ONE 2nd childhood!! Woo-hoo!

Be sure to hop on over to the Catch the Bug Challenge blog to see the rest of the DT's take on this "scallop" challenge. Wanna play along? All the deets are on the Catch the Bug blog. You know, you might even win FREE images just for playin'!! And what stamper could live without Miss B??? Uh, only birdbrains!! Oh wait a minute, that's me!! Scratch that!!! Pffft! Oh, you hens know what I mean, just get those cards entered so you don't miss out!! Have a SUPER Saturday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon! {{{hen hugs}}}

Husbands are like lawnmowers....

... hard to get started, emit foul smells, and don't work half the time!

Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!! OMG, now tell me that ain't the truth??? I showed this card to my DH and said, "whatcha think?" He paused for a moment as he read it, and then just stopped COLD! He handed it back to me and slowly looked away... I said, "what's wrong, don'tcha like it?" He didn't answer!! *snort!*
That was SO worth it! ROFLMBO!

Hey, it's Saturday and that means it's time for another Catch the Bug challenge. Whoot-whoot! This week's challenge is two fold.... first it's a sketch challenge, and here's the sketch.

Super cute, huh? Ok, now the second part of the challenge is the color GREEN! I decided to use Stella Lawnmower from the Stella Summer Blocks collection and colored her with my Copics. The DP is from an OLD Cosmo Cricket collection called Hello Sunshine, which works with my personal challenge to use OLD stuff! I tied on some saddle stitched grosgrain ribbon and finished with a couple of lime green buttons for a little extra POP of GREEN! Ready to try your hand at it? You could even win some FREE Bugaboo Stamps images!! FREE is good, right? Oh yeah, me LOVEEE FREEE!! Need some more ideas to get you inspired? Head on over to the Catch the Bug challenge blog and check out the rest of the Bugaboo Stamps DT's take on this sketch. They're sure to make you GREEN with envy. LOL!! You know you're OLD when...

..gettin' a little action means your prunes are workin'!! Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!! OMG, what a hoot! Ummm, I better hush, this is gonna be me in a few weeks!! Pffft! Whatever! I still love it! This is "Stella - getting a little action" from Bugaboo Stamps. She's a mess ain't she? Oh, I LOVE Stella. Of course Gus is right up there too, but Stella is my LOVE! LOL!! This week's Catch the Bug Challenge is to create a card with a different fold. Hmmmm, I had to think about that one. Funny how these little challenges make you think outside the box, huh? Ok, so I decided to make a match book style card today that requires two folds, one on top and another on the bottom. First, I stamped Stella onto some Canson Manga Fanboy CS and colored her with my Copics. I cut her out with my square Nesties and sponged on some distress ink with the die in place. I matted her with some SU Basic Black CS and then stitched around the edges.

I've included two additional photos here so you can see how the card opens. The card base is 4.25" x 12" and scored at 5.5" and again at 11" creating an A2 size card with a 1" lip. I then cut a large scalloped circle from some SU Basic Black CS and cut it in half. I then attached that half to the 1" lip creating the top flap of the card. I stitched this polka dot DP to the SU Basic Black CS and adhered it to the front of the card and also added the coordinating herringbone DP to the top and bottom of the scalloped circle. I added a small magnet under the top flap to help keep the card closed.

This is how the card looks when it's fully opened. Pretty cool huh? A little extra effort but I really like the look.

Ok, that's it from the hen house today. Wanna see some more ideas on different folds for cards? Head on over to the Catch the Bug Challenge blog and see the rest of the DT's SUPER CLEVER cards!! Come on and play along with us at Catch the Bug! You could win some FREE digis from Bugaboo Stamps just for playing. Woo-hoo! FREE Stellas??? Who could ask for anything more?? LOL!! Have a SUPER Saturday! {{{hen hugs}}}

One TWEET ATC.. well maybe?

Hey hens!! Happy Saturday to ya!! Ready for this week's Catch the Bug challenge?? Hmmm? It's just an "itsy-bitsy-wittle" challenge..... (tee-hee) it's an ATC!! Oh boy!! That should be a cinch huh? Hmmmph! Well, that's what I thought too! Evidently, my brain only works on FULL scale because this presented a rather LARGE challenge for me. Good grief!! I'm sure you're thinking, "oh seriously, how hard could a 2.5 x 3.5 card be?" Me too!! But creating the layout for something this size was more than my wee chicken brain could handle!! And then I look at all the other chick's ATC's and WOWZER!! No trouble at all! Pfffft!! Let's just not talk about it, k?

Ok, so for my ATC, this is what I came up with. Whatcha think? Eh, so-so, right? I dunno, so you hens have to help me on this and tell me where I went wrong. So if I ever decide to make another, maybe I can improve on my design, cuz this just ain't gettin' it for me! LOL!!

So here's what I did:
First, I printed the image quite smaller than usual... Isn't that the BEST thing about digital images? You can ADJUST THE SIZE!! How cool is that? Then I colored the image with my Copics. Since this was an Artist Trading Card, I would assume the point is to trade these with other artists they meet, is that right? Ok, if so, then I thought it should represent ME, or The Spotted Chick. Soooooo, I chose some red polka dot DP and a chick image, this is "Spring Bird on a limb" from Bugaboo Stamps. Ain't she a doll?? Ok, then I paper pieced her dress and her hair bow and started the design of the card. Whooooooaaaaaa, there's NO ROOM!! Holy cow, I cut the card base and then the mat and DP and what's left?? Phoooooeeeee, so I decided to cut the image out. Now I'll let you hens on a little secret of mine, I am NO GOOD at this!! So after she's cut out, I lay her onto the red polka dot paper. Uh, HELLLOOOOOOO!!!! Where'd she go??? Yep, she faded right in. So then I decided to put a mat behind using the Kraft CS again to tie in with the card base but I did add some texture to it with my SU embossing folder. Ok, still too plain for me so I added the ribbon and the little tag and I still was just so-so with it. After 2 HOURS on a project I thought would take about 30 minutes to complete, I gave up!! I guess ATC's just aren't my specialty. *sniff-sniff*

Oh well, that's not to say they aren't for my other DT members though. Wow, they made some AWESOME designs so be sure to head on over to the Catch the Bug challenge blog and check 'em out. Now it's YOUR turn to show me how this is REALLY done. Make an ATC using any Bugaboo image and link it up to the Catch the Bug challenge blog. Not only will you be teaching me a thing or two about creating ATC's, but you could even win some FREE images just for playing. Sound like a plan? Ok, I'll be lookin' for your creation over at the Catch the Bug challenge blog and don't forget to include lot's of instructions for this OLD BIRD!! I need all the help I can get!! LOL!! {{{hen hugs}}}

A Bubbly Bow Tutorial

Hi hens... are ya ready for Part 2 of my tutorial? Woo-hoo! This video will show you how I tie my bubbly bows! I do get several questions about them, so hopefully you'll find this tutorial helpful.

This is Stella "Stupid Cupid" from Bugaboo Stamps! I just LOVEEEE Stella! She's such a riot! I can't remember a time when I've colored Stella and didn't bust up laughing! If not for those prickly 2 hairs on her legs, it's those boobs!! OMG!! She just cracks me up! LOL!! I printed Stella onto some Canson Manga Fanboy CS and colored her with my Copics. I sponged a little chalk ink around the edges and then stitched her to the SU Basic Black CS. You can see Part 1 of my video, a "Stitching Tutorial" here. The DP I used is from Bo Bunny and I stitched around the edges of it, as well. I used my SU border punch along the black mat of the top layer and of course tied my bubbly bow on top to finish! A PERFECT Valentine's Day card for my hubby!! Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha! Stella kinda looks like me on Valentine's Day... forget all that mushy stuff - JUST HAND OVER THE CANDY AND NOBODY GETS HURT!!

I hope you hens have enjoyed my little tutorial and I'll see ya back in the hen house bright n' early tomorrow mornin'! {{{hen hugs}}}

That's Krafty Thursday #45

Mornin' hens!! I just have to tell you all how VERY much all your comments meant to me yesterday. I LOVED reading each and every one of them and they comforted me more than you'll ever know. Some of you even sent me photos of your little babies and I got such a kick out of those. Thank you all so much for your thoughts, stories and prayers...they made me smile! :o)

Ok, now I know you hens are all fired up for another That's Krafty Thursday challenge, right? Woo-hoo!! I sure am! I just LOVE seein' all your fabulous creations with Kraft CS. Ahhhh, all that Kraft CS does my heart good!

Ok, to get you started off with some Krafty inspiration, here's a little card I whipped up for my BRUDDER's birthday tomorrow! LOL!! I figure you can't get no better than to give your BRUDDER Gus for his birthday! Pffft! He'll probably make me PAY for this one but that's ok, it'll be worth it!!

I started by printing Gus from Bugaboo Stamps onto some Canson Manga Fanboy CS and colored him with my Copics. Isn't that sentiment a hoot? Did I mention it comes with the image? Yep, that's one more fabby thing about Bugaboo Stamps, many images have separate sentiment files that are included in the purchase price! NICE!! Ok, so after I colored him, I cut him out with my Circle Nesties and sponged around the edges with the die in place. This DP is from My Mind's Eye and I stitched around the edges and punched a cute border in between the two DP's with one of my Martha Stewart border punches. I also applied some clear glaze to Gus' glasses for a little shine on his spectacles. LOL!! To finish, I tied the saddle stitched ribbon around the DP and up through a slit I punched in the image panel and tied a cute orange button on top!

Now, this card also fits into today's Oldie But Goodie day over at the Catch the Bug Challenge blog. Be sure to check out what images the rest of the Bugaboo Stamps DT pulled out of their stash to use for today too!

Ok, now it's YOUR turn! Let's start the new year off with a BANG and have a record turnout for my That's Krafty Thursday challenge this week, k? I'm suffering from withdrawals of seein' all you hens' Krafty Kreations!!

Meet Maxine!!

Happy Monday hens! I haven't had a chance to tell ya'll about what Santa brought me for Christmas.... soooo, I thought I'd share a few photos from my Christmas morning.

After unwrapping all my presents, I was told that Santa had left my BIG gift upstairs in my new coop. Hmmmm? Wonder what it could be??? (Uh, I'm not one of those people who are delicate about the wrapping paper. I'm a ripper-upper! Skip that prissy stuff, I wanna see what's in the box!!) LOL!!

Eeeeek!! It's an iMac!! My dream come true!! I was just a wee bit EXCITED!! Pfffft!! More like "ready to pee my pants" excited!! Last Spring, my PC crashed and since then, I've been operating on a wing and a prayer. So, I had been begging for a new computer but I didn't want another PC!! I wanted a MAC!! Needless to say, I'm in LUUUUUV with Santa!! xoxoxoxo What girl doesn't love a man bearing gifts? Hmmm?

So in honor of my new baby Maxine (yes, that's her name!) I made a little something for my desk! You know how you always get those "not so attractive" bank calendars for your desk, right? Well, I thought I'd gussy one of them up and this image of "Crabby Cathy" from Bugaboo Stamps was just PERFECT for the occasion!! LOL!! Oh, I SO agree Cathy!!

Not to mention, this little project will fit right in to today's ABC (Anything But a Card) Monday over at the Catch the Bug Challenge blog! I just love how this turned out, and it looks so STINKIN cute beside Maxine! She's grinning too, I can tell ya know. LOL! This little project was super simple to make too. Just a few pieces of CS and DP adhered to the top part of the calendar and I finished with a bubbly bow tied with this pretty aqua saddle stitched ribbon. Now I'm all ready for the new year ahead! Woo-hoo! Be sure to stop in over at the Catch the Bug Challenge blog for some more ABC ideas from the Bugaboo Stamps DT. They always come up with the neatest things!

Okee dokee, that's it from the hen house today. I hope you hens have a MARVELOUS Monday and I'll see ya back here bright n' early tomorrow mornin! {{{hen hugs}}}

This week's Catch the Bug challenge is "New Year/Celebration" using ribbon, twine, trim, etc. Easy peasy right? Yup, I thought so too! I LOVE easy peasy! LOL!

I decided to use Fanny Calendar months (January) from Bugaboo Stamps. I printed her onto some SU Very Vanilla CS and colored her with my Copics. I stitched the image to some SU Basic Black CS and adhered the image with a few dimensionals to this great DP from Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934 collection. Oh, how I'm lovin' this paper! *sigh* I finished with some striped ribbon topped with a button and some twine. Oh, and I did add a little clear glaze to Fanny's lipstick and to her glass as well. Had to add a little bling for her BIG night out! LOL!

I printed him onto some Canson Fanboy CS and colored him with my Copics. I cut him out and adhered him with a few pop dots to this cute embossed circle!! Love that embossed pattern don't you?? Reminds me of a winter sweater. This DP is from the Fancy Pants' Hot Chocolate collection and I stitched it to some SU Early Expresso CS. ABC Monday!!

Anything But a Card Monday, that is.... Today I thought I'd do a Christmas gift card holder for ya! Now this is SUPER simple, and I can just see you makin' a ton of these in no time. Seriously!!

Ok, first of all HERE'S where you can find the pattern for the gift card holder itself. Just download the free PDF file and cut the pattern pieces from both your CS and DP. I put a small velcro closure under the flap so it was easier to open and close.

Next, I printed Fruitcake Stella from the Stella Christmas line at Bugaboo Stamps and colored her with my Copics. I punched her out with my circle punch and stitched her onto the SU Real Red scalloped circle. I tied this grosgrain ribbon in a cute bubbly bow and that's it! I mean, really quick and SUPER cute too! Woo-hoo!! I love that!

This is the inside... (snort!)
Did I ever tell you my middle name is GRINCH?? LOL!!

You're a MEAN ONE Mrs. Grinch!!
Have a MAH-VELOUS Monday!
