Happy Birthday Dad!

Mornin' hens!  Today is my Dad's birthday!  He's 79 today.  He loves getting my cards, so I really enjoy making them for him.  I used one of my FAV's from Stampendous.  I just love Fluffles the cat.  I found this sketch on Pinterest.  OMG, I don't think I can ever visit that website and not spend half of a day there!  It's seriously addicting!!  Pin, pin, pinning…  Anyhoo, I found this card sketch there and fell in love with it.  Not too busy and perfect for this image.  After I was done watercoloring the image, I wanted to make the balloon stand out, so I added some sparkle using my Wink of Stella glitter pen and then applied some Glossy Accents on top.  The photo doesn't do it justice but it looks great IRL. Okee dokee, that's it for me today!  I hope you hens have a FABULOUS Friday and a great weekend too!  See ya back in the hen house real soon!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Feelin' A Little Crabby?

Mornin' hens!  Here's another little card I made for Lil' Chick!  She's had her share of morning sickness, poor thing…  I feel so bad for her.  If I could take away all her sickness for myself, I would!  I can't stand to see her feel so bad.  I guess that's just the mother in us, huh?  Sooooo, I thought I'd make her another little card to brighten her day!  She'll get a good laugh out of it for sure.  Tee-hee!  I used this stamp from Gina K Designs and watercolored it using my distress markers.  I cut the image out with my deckled rectangular Nesties and then sponged some distress ink around the edges before removing the die.  I matted all the panels using my Perfect Layers tool, and added some faux stitching using my tracing wheel.  I tied on some twine and added a little button on top to finish.  I hope you hens have a TERRIFIC Tuesday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Happy Bark-day!

Good morning' hens!  Today is my grand-dog Lily's birthday!  Soooo, of course I wanted to make her a little card for her special day.  Tee-hee!  This was a fairly simple card to make since there was no coloring involved.  I think I spent most of my time deciding on which paper to use!! LOL!
I started with four different papers from the My Minds Eye "The Sweetest Thing - Tangerine" paper pad.  I stamped this cute little dog from Paper Smooches onto two of the patterned papers and also onto some white cardstock and paper pieced the image together.  Next, I matted the green gingham paper onto some orange cardstock using my FABULOUS new Mini Perfect Layers tool!  OMG!!  I thought the original tool was cool enough, but now they've made a mini set for card makers!  Accck!  Seriously, it's wonderful!  They're only 7 inches long and come in a cute little pouch.  And if that wasn't enough, they also have the Perfect Cutting Mat… and it's PINK too!  Woot-woot!  It too is smaller for card makers at only 8"x10".  Now I'm not sure what they did differently when making this cutting mat, but my craft knife cut the mat for this card just like buttah!  Uh, can ya tell I'm impressed??  I'll put a link to both of these items below if you're interested.

Here's a close up!
Ok, now back to the card, so then I cut a rectangle from the last piece of patterned paper and then using my Nestabilities, I cut a partial circle from the lower right side.  Using that same circle die, I cut a circle from the vellum and some orange cardstock as well. Then I selected a circle die one size smaller, and cut it from the orange circle too, making a frame.  I added the orange frame on top of the vellum and adhered all the pieces using foam squares.  I embossed the sentiment, also from Paper Smooches and adhered it to the card in a banner shape.  To finish, I added some Glossy Accents to the eyes and rounded the bottom corners.  That's it for me today.  I hope you hens have a WONDERFUL Wednesday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon!

Supplies:
Rubber Stamps - Paper Smooches "Chubby Chums" and "Birthday Buddies"; Patterned Paper - My Minds Eye "The Sweetest Thing - Tangerine"; Cardstock - SU Very Vanilla, Orange; Glossy Accents; Vellum - Simon Says Stamps; Vanilla Embossing Powder - Annabelle Stamps; Nestabilities; Versamark, Momento Tuxedo Black, Mini Perfect Layers Tool, Perfect Cutting Mat

Love ya!

Mornin' hens!  Just looking at this card makes me hungry for a candy bar!  LOL!  Oh yeah, I'm a CHOCOHOLIC for sure! Give me a candy bar and I'll look like the Cookie Monster eating it! {snort!} Ok, so I stamped this image onto some Strathmore watercolor paper and watercolored it using my distress markers.  I sponged some distress ink around the edges before removing the scalloped Nestie, and then matted the panel using my Perfect Layers tool.  Next, I used some dimensional pearls in Expresso to cover the two bees in chocolate.  I used brown embossing powder for the sentiment so it looks like it was written in chocolate too! Mmmmm-mmmm. lip smackin' good!  Okee dokee, that's it for me today.  I hope you hens have a FABULOUS Friday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon!  {{{hen hugs}}}

I'm Sorry...

Mornin' hens!  Isn't this little guy hilarious?  OMG, he makes me chuckle every time I look at him.  I stamped him onto some Strathmore watercolor paper and watercolored him using distress markers.  Of course, I HAD to add some Glossy Accents to the little puddle he made! {snort!}  I matted the image using my Perfect Layers tool and did some faux stitching around each of the panels with my tracing wheel.  Oh, and how 'bout that bow? Eh-hem, I dyed it myself!  Woot-woot!  I'm SUPER DUPER proud of myself.  I saw this  technique on YouTube so I wanted to give it a try.  I used chalk white seam binding and ran my distress ink pad over top of it.  Then, I spritzed on some water, squished it up into a ball, and ta-da! It blended beautifully.  I dried it with my blow dryer and then used my ribbon iron for a smooth look.  Soooo cute, right? Each spool has 100 yards.  WOW!  Just think of all the bows you can make with one spool of seam binding!  I'll put a link in the list of supplies below, where I found mine.  Okee dokee, that's it for me today.  I hope you hens have a TERRIFIC Tuesday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon!

I'd really love to but...

… I'm watching my aerobics class.  OMG, is this a riot or what? Smiley And it's SO ME!  Seriously, I hate exercising!  I always tell people if you see me running, look behind me because somebody is chasing me!!  Uggggh!  So of course, when I saw this stamp, I HAD to have it!  Tee-hee!  I made this card for Lil' Chick since she's havin' a little bit of morning sickness.  Poor thing…  At least it made her laugh.  Yay!  Ok, so I started off by stamping this onto some Strathmore watercolor paper and colored it with my distress markers and a water brush.  Then using my oval Nestabilities, I cut the image out and leaving the die in place, sponged some chalk ink around the edges.  I have a video on that technique HERE.  The rest of the card was a cinch as all I did was mat the DP to some rose CS using my handy dandy Perfect Layers tool and then stitched around the edges.  To finish, I added some glitter to her slippers using my Wink of Stella pen and tied on some twine before adhering the panel to the SU Kraft card base.  Okee dokee, that's it for me today.  I hope you hens have a FABULOUS Friday and a WONDERFUL weekend!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Lil' Chick's Expecting!!!!

OMG! OMG! OMG!
I'm gonna be a GRANDMA!!Smiley  I'm SO excited, I can hardly contain myself!! Of course, I had to make my Lil' Chick the most AWESOME card ever, right?  Can ya tell I'm a wee bit proud?  Tee-hee!  Well, it just relates to how ecstatic I am about the BIG news!!  Ok, so I stamped the little lady onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored her with my Copics.  Next, I cut the letters B and G using my Silhouette Cameo from both the DP and again from SU Early Expresso cardstock using the offset function.  I printed the sentiment onto some SU Kraft CS, folded it into a banner form and adhered it to the top of the DP using a few dimensionals for support.  To finish, I matted the DP using my Perfect Layers tool, stitched around the edges of each panel, and then tied some swiss dot ribbon around the base.

Now I hear being a Grandma is like the BEST thing ever.  So, I'd love for you to leave me a comment below and tell me what the BEST part of being Grandma is for you.  I'd LOVE to hear all about it.  Oh, and tell me what do your grandchildren call you.  I'm trying to decide if I want to be called Grandma or something else.  Ok, I hope you hens have a TERRIFIC Tuesday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon!  {{{hen hugs}}}

With Sympathy

Mornin' hens!  I have to admit, as much as I LOVE card marking, this is not the type of card I enjoy making.  Although, knowing that it may bring my friend comfort to know she is being thought of, makes it all worth while.  The card was quite simple to make actually since there was no coloring involved.  I embossed the DP with the same damask pattern as the DP and then matted it to some green CS using my Perfect Layers tool.  Using my Spellbinder Nestabilities, I created this nested label with the black and green cardstock, and patterned DP.  The sentiment is from an older Taylored Expressions set and I just added a few brads for interest.  I adhered the sentiment with a few dimensionals in between the layers and then finished by adding the black satin ribbon tied in a sweet bow.  Okee dokee, that's it for me today.  I hope you hens have a TERRIFIC Tuesday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon.

Happy Anniversay!

Mornin' hens!  Here's a little card I made for a coworker who requested an anniversary card.  I think it turned out so STINKIN' cute!  This stamp is from Paper Pretties.  The stamp itself is quite large and features the full body of each person, with all sorts of cute things to put in the fella's hand (e.g. candy, ring, etc.)  It's a great anniversary or Valentine's Day stamp set to have on hand.  Ok, so I stamped the image onto some SU Very Vanilla CS and colored it with my Copics.  I cut a heart out of this DP and then placed the image behind the DP adding a few dimensionals for a nice 3D look.  I added a few scalloped borders below, cut from some coordinating DP, and then matted it all on some SU Early Expresso CS, using the Perfect Layers tool, and stitched around the edges.  To finish, I added a few pearls, tag, punched hearts and a satin bubbly bow!  That's it for me today!  I hope you hens have a FABULOUS Friday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon!

A "Beary" Special Birthday!

Mornin' hens!  Hope you all had a GREAT weekend and SWEET Valentine's Day!  I made this little card using an older set from The Cat's Pajamas. The present and hat are just add ons.  I colored him with my Copics and cut him out leaving a small white border.  I adhered him to this DP with a few dimensionals.  I used my Perfect Layers tool to mat each piece of DP onto some SU Early Expresso CS and then I stitched around the edges.  To finish, I added some green Stickles to the present and tied a bow with this striped grosgrain ribbon.  That's it for me today.  I hope you hens have a TERRIFIC Tuesday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon.  {{{hen hugs}}}

You're TOAD-ally awesome!

Mornin' hens!  I made this little card for my new Son in Law!  Honestly, I couldn't have got a better one if I had taken applications and hand picked one myself!  Yup, he's just that GREAT!  Soooo, why not tell him so, right?  Everybody likes a pat on the back!  I saw this little stamp and decided to make a play on the word TOAD-ally, and since it's a boy, I thought it would be perfect!  I stamped the image onto some Strathmore watercolor paper and watercolored it with some distress markers.  My new favorite coloring method.  Next, I cut the image out with my rectangle Nestabilities and sponged some chalk ink around the edges before removing the die.  I have a video on this HERE.  Using my SU embossing folder, I embossed this frame on a separate piece of SU Kraft and popped it up with a few dimensionals.  Then I adhered the image panel to some matching DP using my Perfect Layers tool.  To finish, I added some Glossy Accents to the toad's eyes, and then tied on some twine with a button on top!  That's it for me today.  I hope you hens have a FABULOUS Friday and a WONDERFUL weekend and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Love is in the air!

Mornin' hens!  I hope you've had a good week.  Here's a little card I made using an older Stampendous stamp I had in my stash!  Remember me telling you hens that I was going to try and use some of my older supplies this year?  Well, I decided to dig through my box of wood mounted stamps (remember those?) and found this little cutie, so I couldn't resist. Tee-hee!  Of course, I colored him with my new found love DISTRESS MARKERS!  Acccck!  I LOVE them!  This was a pretty simple card to put together too!  After I colored the image I cut it out with my circle Nestie and then matted it with my scalloped circle Nestie. I made the lower panel from four different patterns of DP and matted them to a rose colored piece of card stock using my Perfect Layers tool. Then I stitched around the edges and tied a double bow with some aqua taffeta ribbon. To finish, I added some Glossy Accents and glitter (using my Wink of Stella glitter pen) and rounded the top right corner.  That's it for me today!  Hope you hens have a WONDERFUL Weekend and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Somebunny Loves You!

Mornin hens!  Isn't this card GREAT?  OMG, I'm in LOVE with it!   I made this card for Lil' Chick and Doug for Valentine's Day.  All together now, awwwww….  {snort!}
Ok, so here's the BEST part, I watercolored it!  OMG! OMG!  I'm so proud of myself!  Smiley  I just LOVE this look!  I think I'm hooked!  Seriously, this was my first attempt and I just can't get over it.  Ummmm, can ya tell I'm a little bit excited?  Uh YEAH!  Now I have to admit, Kristina Werner made it look so simple, I had to give it a try, and boy am I glad I did!  Thanks for the inspiration Kristina!  Ok, so I started with stamping the image onto Strathmore watercolor paper, and then using my new Tim Holtz Distress Markers, I watercolored the image. Woot-woot! Then I cut the image out using my rectangle Nestabilites and leaving the die in place, I sponged some chalk ink around the edges.  Here's a video I made awhile ago on this technique.  I matted the image with PTI Pure Poppy card stock, cut using my scalloped rectangle Nestie die.  I matted all the other DP panels using my nifty Perfect Layers tool and then stitched around the edges of each panel.  I stamped the sentiment onto a scratch piece of card stock with some Versamark ink and then sprinkled some white embossing powder over it.  Then I heat set the powder and cut the piece into a banner shape and adhered it to the bottom of the card with a few dimensionals.  To finish, I added some Glossy Accents and some glitter (using my Wink of Stella glitter pen) to the hearts.  Okee dokee, that's it for me today!  I hope you hens have a TERRIFIC Tuesday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon!

Valentine Fishes

Mornin' hens! I've been chosen to be the Guest Designer this month for Perfect Paper Crafting.  Yay!  So here is my card that made for them to display on their Facebook page.  OMG, I feel like a celebrity. Woot-woot!  Anyhoo, here's how I made this little cutie.  First, I stamped this adorable image from Gina K. Designs onto some Stampin Up Very Vanilla card stock and colored them with my Copics and added a little shading around the image with colored pencils.  I added some red Stickles to the little hearts on the girl fish and also used my Wink of Stella glitter pen on her middle section and the tale of the boy fish.  Love that pen! I also added some Glossy Accents to both her lips and the eyes.  Next, I matted each pattern of designer paper onto some Pure Poppy card stock using the oh so handy Perfect Layers tool.  If you've never tried this tool before, it's amazingly easy and gives such a clean look.  It's always been difficult for me to measure my mat by just adding 1/8" or 1/4" more each way and then try to adhere my piece onto the center of the card stock.  Sounds easy enough but it never seems to be even on all sides once I stick it down.  Am I right?  Well, that's where this tool comes in.  You actually adhere the piece you want to mat onto a larger piece of card stock first, and then place this tool on each side and make the cut!  Presto! Perfect mat every time!  Click HERE for a quick video on how this tool works!  Ok, then I printed the sentiment on a scrap piece of card stock and cut it out with my Stampin Up heart die.  I didn't have the next size larger die, so I just took the die I used and drew the outline onto some scrap Pure Poppy card stock and cut it out.  To finish, I tied some aqua Baker's twine around the bottom, added a few mini brads and there ya have it!  I plan on giving this little cutie to my DH!  I hope he likes it!  Hope you hens have a Wonderful Weekend and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Monrin' hens!

Fit's him to a tee!  LOL!  I printed the image onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored it with my Copics.  I fed the image back through the printer for both the number and sentiment.  After I colored the image, I sponged some distress ink around the edges and matted it to some SU Early Expresso CS using my Perfect Layers tool.  To finish, I added some twine and some Glossy Accents to his glasses.  That's it for me today!  I hope you hens have great day!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Snow Bunny

Mornin' hens!  Here's a little Christmas card I made this past weekend.  The image is "Snow Bunny" from Some Odd Girl.  As I was looking through my Christmas papers, I came across this sheet of trees and it hit me!  A background of trees with a snow hill in the foreground.  Woo-hoo!  I LOVE it when a plan comes together!  That doesn't happen too often in my OLD age!  Hmmph!  To begin with, I wanted to share a little trick I taught myself as I was making this card.  To use your Perfect Layers tool AND round your corners after, apply adhesive to the back of the DP in the center only (I just made a little X in the middle) and then adhere the DP to the card stock.  Next, using my Perfect Layers tool, I cut off the excess card stock leaving a PERFECT 1/16" border on all sides.  Then, I used the corner rounder on both the DP and the brown card stock individually.  Since there was no adhesive on the corners, I could slide both the DP and the card stock into the corner rounder with ease.  I then stitched the edges on all sides and added a snow hill with some coordinating DP.  The tree was a punch out and I added some Diamond Dust to the snow hill for an icy look. I colored the image with my Copics and adhered it with a few pop dots.  I embossed the sentiment (included with the stamp) to the bottom of the snow hill and tied on some coordinating ribbon with a button on top. I think this turned out so CUTE, don't you?

Here's a close up look of the dimension!

Happy Birthday Randy!

Mornin' hens!
This birthday card is for my BIL Randy. Not to worry, Randy has a GREAT sense of humor.  Wouldn't do for anyone I make a card for not to have one, right? Bwah-ha-ha-ha!
I was pretty impressed with how my paper piecing turned out on this card.  The digital image is from Squigglefly and I've been wanting to use it for awhile now but couldn't  think of what it should say.  Any then it just hit me!  Duh!  Soooo, I printed the digital image onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and then again onto both the striped and diamond DP.  I cut small strips of white CS and made baseboards where the two DP's met.  I added a little shading to the DP and matted it to some white CS using my Perfect Layers tool and then stitched around the edges.  I printed the sentiment and then folded it to resemble a banner and popped it up with a few dimensionals.  To finish, I added some lime green Baker's twine and a button on top.  Can't wait for him to get this one!  Love it!
Hope you hens have a great Monday! {{{hen hugs}}}
