Charlie Brown

There is this meme on the internet that I kind of like. They take comic or cartoon characters and depict them after the apocalypse.

The first of these I saw was Velma and Scooby Doo.

The most recent was Snoopy and Charlie Brown.

These characters are usually well armed, still can be recognized once you know who it is, and made awesome.

--Email me if you find more of these!

This is Worth Supporting

Money talks.

I spend a lot of cash every year on the Internet. I have a wide variety of places to shop. Sean of at his NC Gun Blog is keeping a list companies that will  not be selling firearms to State and local governments that could not also be sold to the residents of that State.I received an email this morning from Cheaper Than Dirt stating that they have also adopted this policy.

In a climate like this, where sales are booming, I like to support companies that put my Rights first.

From NC Gun Blog:

"Rue got the ball rolling with their announcement that they would not be selling firearms to State and local governments that could not also be sold to the residents of that State. With Olympic Arms refusing to sell anything at all to any government agency in New York, I think we have the makings of a large-scale boycott."

He’ll be using this page to keep track of the companies that announce similar bans, along with links to the press releases. Here is the list as of today:

If you would like Sean to add your company to this list please send him email at Sean@SeanSorrentino.com Use the subject line “New York Boycott”

Facebook

Gun Blogs are not the only bit of social media that have people that love Guns and the 2nd Amendments.

Facebook has tons of gun related content. It has open and closed forums. It has topic specific groups for things like 1911s, Glocks, Skeet Shooting or Deer Hunting.

Guns on Facebook can get people in trouble, or actually sell people guns or gear.

Lots of Blogs have corresponding Facbook pages to facilitate communications with readers beyond comments in the Blogs.

Facebook is trying to all things to all people. I can't say I am feeling it will replace my blog. But the one thing it does is get breaking news out FAST.

--Facebook is good and bad. Neither and both.

Wikipedia and Guns

I was discussing guns and computers and their intersection at work this week. One guy was telling me that there was a small war going on within Wikipedia regarding the depiction of firearms, their history and politics.

The Anti-gun crowd is apparently trying to delete, deface, re-write and bullshit the world via Wikipedia.

"The neutrality of this article is disputed." appears again and again when it comes to the topic of firearms and Gun Control. Positive depictions of firearms and their use as a tool for peace and negative depictions of anti-gun efforts are under constant revision by the anti's.

Revisionist history is a very popular past time of the anti-gun crowd. Even with the articles that describe their own organizations. Looking at the discussion sections of pages cracks me up. Even the Brady Campaign page has a Discuss section that is a hoot.

--There are massive gun resources in there. I should spend more time there.

Command Center Upgrades

The Miller Command Center is getting a big upgrade.
  • Paint the walls.
  • Add shelves, floor to ceiling on two walls.
  • New lighting.
  • iPad that controls Comcast.
  • Systems all upgraded to Windows 7 and re-networked.
  • MP3 server with 4.5TB of storage.
  • Full compliment of HDTV, BlueRay and On-Demand programming.
  • Four camera surveillance system. (soon to be expanded)
  • Solar powered lighting.
  • Uninterrupted Power System expanded to five hours.
My ability to continue my daily Blog surfing and commenting will now be greatly enhanced by the use of Lava lamps and On-Demand movies.

Once the Killer Robot Uprising or the Pending Zombie Apocalypse hits I will be ready. Just remember, you have to read the Matrix raw. It's the only way is appreciate the blonds, brunettes and red heads.

--I will need a cool "In Case of Zombies Break Glass" Frame!

Humor - US Gun Statistics - Apples and Oranges

Randomly stolen from various sources to show how facts can be fun and sad and whacked:

Doctors:
  1. The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
  2. Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
  3. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Guns:
  1. The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. Yes, that is 80 million.
  2. The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
  3. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.
Nice:

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

Long Range Shooting Simulation

I found a long range shooting simulator on the interwebs. Granted any simulation cannot replicate actual training but some simple concepts can be learned.

This simulator can give you a basic understanding of estimating ranges using a mil or moa reticle and using a range card to set elevation and windage.

The main lesson this thing can show you is how to use the tics in the reticle to estimate the distance to the target based on the size of a known object, (like the poor schmuck in the sight picture).

Nothing can replace actual range time. Better yet, actual training with an experienced, professional instructor.

--Besides, actual range time is way more fun!

iPad and Blog Running

I recently got an iPad. I figured ti would be a novelty that would allow light web browsing, email and maybe eBook utility.

One thing I really like is my daily Blog Running of gun bloggers.

The Safari browser holds nine of them all at once and even saves me the HUGE inconvenience of clicking on a link.

The best part is the form factor of the thing. It's like a book or a magazine. Some blogs seem designed specifically for the iPad. I have even optimized my blogs design for iPad viewing.

--I even listen to Breda's Radio show on the iPad now. Fun Stuff.

The Walking Dead

Tonight is the first episode of the new TV series The Walking Dead on AMC.

This is the first modern TV series that is about the pending Zombie Apocalypse!

This show has promise for good gun content. Expect show reviews, comments on firearm selections and tactics on acing shamblers!

--Hoping for a new favorite show!

Post Secret

Post Secret is one of my weekly stops on the Internet. Every now and then they have gun content that's sometimes good and sometimes bad. Usually interesting.

--Bullies Suck. Cops have my respect. But I carry a gun because cops are too heavy...
