Mason - or as I like to call him, The Best Boy Ever - had a birthday. He is five whole years old! Man, that went fast. What an awesome little guy he is. I remember when I found out I was expecting him. I wasn't ready...and I panicked a little bit. His sisters were such a handful and I wasn't sure I could handle another one at that time. But he has been such a blessing, and our family would not have been complete without him. The moment we saw him, we were all smitten...and have been ever since. Right now, Mason loves all things trucks. Trucks are the BOMB!! He loves to work with Grandpa Tippetts, loves digging holes, and he's really got a talent for building things in Minecraft. Man, he's cute.

Matty Turns 11!
For Matty's 11th birthday, we had a family party at the park with a My Little Pony theme. We enjoyed cake, hitting a piƱata, and watching Matty open her presents. (that's always the best part - she gets SO excited over all of her presents) Matty is such a blessing to us! She's SUPER!!!
Super Matty! |

Anastyn's Special Birthday
What a beautiful girl. Absolutely beautiful! And so excited to be baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! She was baptized on her birthday by her Daddy at the stake building in Lovell. Many, many loved ones came to support her on this special day. Uncle Kaleb and our dear friend, Kylee Thormahlen, both spoke to her about baptism, the holy ghost and repentance. Afterward, we enjoyed a yummy chili dinner and, of course, a beautiful and delicious cake made by Aletha Durtsche. I love this girl beyond words and am so grateful that she chose to make covenants with her Heavenly Father on this important day.

A Moment In Time
My memory has never been great. And that's unfortunate, because there are so many things that I want to remember. I just don't have enough time right now. I need more time to record the memories I want to keep. My children are growing up at a pace that takes my breath away. I was reading some of my past blog posts and realized that if I had not written some of those things down they would have forever been gone - I would never have recalled all the details and the precious feelings that made them so special.
I am therefore creating a snapshot of this moment in time. Of my beautiful children and my beautiful life.
Matty
Matty is currently 9 and in the 3rd grade. She is really something! Her body is growing up - and so is her mind in some ways. In other ways, she is still just a little girl. A beautiful little girl that loves to live in fairy tales and make-believe. With Disney's newest film release, her fairy tale of choice has gone from Tangled to Frozen. Where she once dreamed of having beautiful long hair that had magical powers and sang "When Will My Life Begin" over and over, she now triumphantly informs us every time it snows that she made it happen with her magic. The Elsa dress that Santa brought her just last month is already well-worn and falling apart at the seems. Because she is Elsa - and cannot be Elsa without that dress on! She belts out "Let It Go" at the top of her lungs and watches clips of the movie over and over on YouTube. Imagining herself a beautiful, magical princess makes her happy. :)
She is doing well in school. She is steadily meeting the goals that her Special Ed team sets for her. And we are so proud of her progress. She still loves music and demands that we turn it up every time we get in the car. She sings along with such feeling and gets all the words right in her concerts at school and church. When she is all alone she has conversations with people that she loves - or people she has only met in her movies. Sometimes we catch her on her knees in prayer when no one has suggested it. Reading is difficult for her - but she pretends to read her scriptures. It is adorable. She still gives the best hugs ever. All of her almost 70 pounds crawl right up into your lap and melt into you. I dread the day when it will officially be inappropriate for her to do that anymore.
She loves her sister. They have a very sweet friendship that makes me happy. As for her brother, well, at this point in time I would say that they have a mutual agreement to put up with each other. :) They mostly compete for Mom's or Anastyn's attention and butt heads a lot. They are slowly growing out of this phase though. I am excited to watch their relationship grow.
Matty is becoming increasingly stubborn and strong-willed. And sassy. Oh boy is she sassy. Traits that make her who she is, that make us giggle and fall in love with her; but at times can pose problems both at home and at school. Her classmates accept her for who she is and are so sweet and caring. It warms my heart and comforts me.
Matty is a blessing to our family. She has challenges and gives us challenges. But she makes us who we are. She makes us better.
Anastyn
Beautiful. Those eyes. Deep. Brown. Clear and bright. And there is a light that seeps through them and makes them sparkle. That light is her soul. Anastyn has a beautiful soul. I am proud of her every day. I appreciate the young lady that she is. It isn't easy being a middle child. It isn't easy having an older sister with disabilities. It isn't easy having a younger brother to help with. It isn't easy having so much expected of you. But she handles it all with grace and willingness and love.
Don't get me wrong, Anastyn is a typical 7 year old. She gets herself in trouble. She likes mischief and she talks a lot. A lot. She's smart and spunky and full of life. She bounces around and is so fun and happy. She loves to learn new things and does it with such excitement! She just started piano lessons this month. I think she is going to love it!
It is important to her to show love. She is thoughtful. For Christmas this year she spent time thinking about what she could give me and her Daddy. She thought about what would be useful to us. She spent a lot of time locked in her bedroom with a twinkle in her eye as she used paper and all the ink in her markers to make special and meaningful gifts for us. It brought tears to my eyes.
It is important to her to be shown love. Last night her dad told her to clean up around the house. With some prodding she helped Matty clean their room (which basically means she did it herself). After that she helped Mason clean his room - that was her own idea. Kyle didn't know all of the hard work she had already done, and she made the mistake of pestering him in the kitchen. So he told her to go clean up the toys in the basement. She went downstairs with tears in her eyes at the thought of having to do more work. I explained to Kyle what she had already done, so he sent me downstairs to tell her never mind. I said, "Daddy changed his mind. We can work on the basement tomorrow." She smiled and said, "Mom, did you change his mind?" I replied with a wink, and she said, "I love you, Mom."
Anastyn really is the "older sister" at our house. She takes care of everyone. She plays with everyone. She helps with getting dressed and brushing teeth. She helps with cleaning and chores. She bosses and mothers. She hugs and comforts. She reads to Matty and Mason. She sacrifices. She has always seemed older than her years. Even when she was a baby she seemed older somehow. I admire who she is. She makes me better, too.
Mason
Mmmmmmmm......Mason. Lovable, squishable, cuddly, sweet, Mason. Mason is my baby no matter how often he reminds me that he is not a baby. I think because Mason is my last baby I feel so sad that his baby-ness is dwindling. He became a Sunbeam at church in January. No longer in nursery. My heart broke. The memories of my girls as babies are fading. I need to remember how special this time is. His so-soft skin. His tiny little teeth. His little hands that hold mine. His giggles. The way he just bounds around more like a puppy than a little human. He wants me to hold him and rub his back. He wants me to kiss his cheeks and he wants to kiss mine. Sweet, slobbery kisses. Hugs that mold around my body with no hint of reservation. I love his sweet little voice, especially when he says the word "mommy". He's getting bigger every day and I am so grateful that I can still pick him up and hold him for just a little while longer. This little boy brings me joy. And lots of it.
Kyle
Kyle is amazing. Simply amazing. Seemingly endless energy (or a supernatural ability to hide being tired). Middle age I guess is where we are at. He is still young and strong, but starting to feel the aches and pains a little. Not quite as invincible as before - but still determined to be. He is doing such a great job taking care of our family. He works hard. He provides well. And I know why he does it. It's cause he loves us. We appreciate that. Being a husband and father can be a thankless job - but it still gets done. He spends endless time and energy chopping wood, hauling it, and keeping it burning so we never feel cold. He pitches in with dinner when I'm busy or tired or lazy. And he's still a looker, that man. I'm a lucky gal.
This man knows how to do a lot of things. He is so handy to have around. And Mason will learn so much from him. Kyle is Mason's super hero. He can't wait to grow up to be big and awesome just like his Daddy.
Me
I am busy, but not. It's great. I get to be a mom. There is no better job in the world. There really isn't. There isn't a harder, more challenging, more overwhelming, more frustrating job in the world. But so rewarding. I love it and cherish it and am so grateful that I get to do it. I have other jobs too, though. I sub at the school, which I love. It's a fun change of pace - good to get out there in the world. I work part time with the Kids program for Meeteetse Recreation. It's a blessing. I get to be creative and silly and have fun - and the best part is that all of my own kids get to be there with me. We're together and I'm getting paid for it. What a blessing. And I also do a little bit of bookkeeping on the side. Keeps my brain working a little bit. That's good for me too.
We like Meeteetse. It's a good place to be right now. The school is wonderfully small and the teachers are so great. Our ward at church is small but strong. It's quiet and beautiful here.
Life's good.

Six is Sweet!!
Anastyn turned six this year! She is so sweet that we decided to have a Candyland birthday party! It was her very first "friend" party! The house was overflowing with giggling girls. I think she enjoyed it! We had a life size Candyland game through the house. We played pin the sucker on the game board. And we had a candy buffet!! I think we succeeded in making her feel pretty special. We love this little lady so very much! What a blessing she is to us!!
We also had a family birthday party in Lovell. Party, party, party! That's what we do!!

8 is Great!
Matty turned 8 at the beginning of this month! She had a great day! Usually school is out for the summer before Matty's birthday, but this year our summer vacation came a little later and Matty got to take cupcakes to 1st grade! She was thrilled! She had a lovely birthday party at Grandma Marla and Grandpa Jim's house. Lots of family came to help her celebrate. We had a BBQ and ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. Presents were opened in true Matty fashion! She is the funnest child to watch open gifts. She gets extremely excited over everything. Cards, small sums of cash, movies she already owns, underwear. Oddly enough, she was less impressed with the wii we got her. Go figure. :) Anyways, she says things like "Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!!!!!!" and "Oh My Goodness Sakes Heavens!!". She is always full of 'thank yous' and hugs. When it was time to blow out the candles on the cake and we weren't quite moving fast enough, she ordered us - "Sing To Me!" Our family's version of the Happy Birthday song includes a bit at the end where everyone sings "How old are you? How old are you? How oooold are you? Happy Birthday to you!" and the Birthday girl is supposed to sing back her age. Matty got a little flustered and couldn't remember what to sing for a minute. We kind of reminded her but she didn't want any help from us. She shushed us and continued, "I am now eighty years old, I am now forty-eight years ooooold!". Ha ha ha! We chuckled for a while about that one. What a cutie!
Well, Matty was especially excited about turning eight this year because that is the age when you can be baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! We had her baptism on the last day of June. It was such a beautiful occasion. Matty had been given a beautiful white dress on her birthday to wear on her baptism day. She looked and felt like a princess. She had so many friends and family come to support her on her special day. She and Anastyn even sang a song together during the baptism. She was baptized and confirmed by her Daddy. It was a lovely service. We had a family dinner afterwards complete with a cake made by Aletha Durtsche (our very favorite cake lady. ever.)

A Handful!
Yes, Miss Anastyn is officially a handful! She turned FIVE the other day! I just can't believe how quickly time is speeding by. This year she will be off to Kindergarten, and I just don't know what I will do without her. She had one of those extended birthdays this year. She actually missed her first birthday party so-to-speak. :) She has a blonde mother. A really super (blonde) mother that sent out a very mistaken text about the date of her actual birthday party! It was a good practice run for everybody I guess. Anyways, her birthday party was a couple days before her birthday. We ate at Pizza On The Run and she got to play in the bounce house. She wanted a chocolate Barbie cake. I was pleasantly surprised that it turned out half-way easy on the eyes. :) She got many fun gifts including clothes, jewelry, a jewelry box, Leap Frog games, and money. She was given the royal treatment on her birthday. We stayed home and focused on her every whim! We painted her fingernails and toenails, cuddled and watched movies, she got to take a bubble bath (instead of the quick shower her mother prefers) and got to eat spaghetti for dinner! She had a second (very small, very casual) party on her birthday. She got to help decorate the cupcakes and had some of her very favorite friends over to enjoy them with her. And a couple days later, she was delighted to find another package in the mail from Aunt Chels. It came in one of those fancy envelopes you can buy at the Post Office. It had cupcakes on it. She couldn't believe her eyes and wondered how in the world Aunt Chelsea could possibly have known that she had cupcakes on her birthday! he he!
So what do I have to say about Anastyn and her five years? A lot, actually:
She's just a great girl. She loves her kittens and her dog. She takes such good care of them! She loves to help with her little brother. She loves him dearly and thinks he is the cutest thing in the whole wide world. She has a beautiful voice. She goes to preschool and loves to learn anything and everything. She is like a sponge. She is hungry for knowledge and asks an almost unbearable amount of questions in a day. She is very fashion conscious and will not wear 'just anything'. She has many friends and loves to be around other people. She is forgiving. She loves her family 'more than birthdays and chocolate, more than anything in the whole world - except for Jesus' (in her own words). She loves Barbie movies, Angelina Ballerina, and the Backyardigans. She enjoys listening to storybooks and playing games. She is very fond of spaghetti and ham sandwiches and candy and not-so-fond of anything else. :) She likes everything to be 'just right' at bed-time and can't go to sleep without several hugs and kisses, a drink of water, and the reassurance that I will wake her up if there is anything that I might need to tell her in the middle of the night! She loves to prance around the house in her ballerina dress. Every once in a while she is allowed to wear it all day long...that's when she's in heaven! She is definitely our favorite 5-year-old and she could definitely never be replaced. She is a blessing to our family. She brings countless smiles to our faces and an endless supply of warm fuzzies to our hearts. We love you Anastyn! Please don't grow up too fast!!!! xoxoxo

My Super Heroes
This is Anastyn "flying" around the house in the exact cape that I used to "fly" around in as a little girl.
Super heroes never go out of style!!!
Today Matty was supposed to dress up as a "cowgirl" for school! Now, the average student here has to look no further than their very own closet for their costume. We had to raid someone else's closet! :) And I still didn't get it right! Notice (unless you are as clueless as I) that the chaps are on backwards! Fortunately, Matty's teacher fixed her wardrobe malfunction as soon as she walked in the door!

Growing Up...
Matty turned 5 on Thursday!! She had a wonderful day full of bubble blowing, playing outside with her sister, opening gifts, and celebrating with family! She was so lucky to have Great-Grandpa and Grandma Wardell, Great-Grandpa and Grandma Tippetts, Mommy and Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa Tippetts, Grandpa and Grandma Leithead, Anastyn, Aunt Chelsea, Tyler and Aunt Kari, and Uncle Bob come to her birthday party. We had a fun Luau with Hawaiian Haystacks and Lemonade. And Aunt Chelsea made the cutest "Beach" cupcakes!! There were too many presents to name, lots of clothes and toys and movies! She got so excited over every little card and gift she opened - it was delightful to watch!! Matty's happiness is contagious and she brings so much joy into our lives!!
At Five Years Old, Matty Is:
A music-loving Hannah Montana wanna-be; a crazy-dancing High School Musical finatic; a silly giggle-box that loves to tease; a master snuggler; a flexible contortionist that loves to perform; beautiful singer of primary songs; insufferable loser of glasses; Princess dress wearing girly-girl who loves fancy shoes and flip-flops; professional bath taker; exhausting night-owl who loves to turn on every light in the house in the middle of the night; baby loving, bag carrying, movie watching, meat-lover; Pre-school going, park playing escape artist; Happy Birthday singing, potty-training fan of Rihanna, Kanye West and Taylor Swift; a color-learning, heart-stealing lover of aunts and uncles; a precious angel who is loved more than words can say!

Happy Birthday, Dear Anastyn!
Anastyn turned 2 on Friday!!! It is hard to believe that she came into our family such a short time ago...I can't remember life without her!! She is such a fun, sweet spirit. For her birthday, we had her Grandpa's and Grandma's, Kari and Tyler, and Kaleb over for super nachos and, of course, cake and ice cream! She knew exactly what was going on - it was her birthday, she was getting presents, we were going to have cake and ice cream, and she was two years old - she talked about it for days! She walked around for days singing "Happy Birthday to Anastyn". It was way too cute! There were presents and laughs and we had a great time helping her celebrate! I made her a Hello Kitty cake, she got balloons and way too many presents! One thing is for sure...this little girl is LOVED!!!!
At TWO years old, Anastyn is:
A mischevious, sneaky trouble-maker. A permanent marker and mascara artist. Bug finding lover of puppies and kitties. Hopeless, blanket carrying thumb-sucker. Professional present-opener. Loves to tease her older sister and play with their new dollhouse. Her giggles are contagious and her smile lights up a room. Fabulous talker, nap-taker, song-singer. Candy-loving Book-reader. Girly-girl with a shoe fetish. Hops around the house while narrating, "hop, hop, hop". Sesame Street watcher. Loves to play outside and run. Regular nursing home visitor and lover of grandmas. Potty-training, potty-trainer of older sister. Favorite word: "No". Compulsive button-pusher, snap un-snapper, and cell phone snatcher. Master Scowler and Drama Queen. Always has a dolly in tow. High-chair graduate. Busy, busy, busy. Miss Naughty wanna-be. Toothbrush stealer. Our favorite brown-eyed girl!!!
We love you Anastyn! What would we ever do without you??? Happy Birthday!!

Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails...
...Wait! Isn't that what little BOYS are made of?? Anastyn is obsessed with bugs. 'Hoppers', Crickets, Bees, Spiders, Flies....whatever. She loves them and is completely fascinated by them. She is always on the lookout for a bug. Every time I turn around here comes Anastyn...
"Loot mom! A bud!" She likes to pick them up and watch them wiggle and squirm. Now, I personally hate bugs. Hate them. Whenever I see her coming with one I want to throw my hands up, scream, and run the other way. I have always been afraid of anything creepy-crawly or slimy or gross in any way. My little sister use to chase me around the house with bugs and snakes...I guess Anastyn has that gene too! I try to be very calm because I don't want her to be as scared of them as I am. However, I don't want her to think she can just pick up any bug she sees...what if she gets a hold of a black widow or a bee??? Anyways...we think she's funny...and so darn CUTE!!!
