Oct. 5....praise from the earth

Psalm 148:7 “Praise the LORD from the earth, you sea monsters and all depths.”
Heavenly Father,
The first 6 verses of this psalm are about praise from the heavens. Now in verse 7, we have praise from the earth. Just as the angels and the creation in the heavens…sun and moon and stars…praise you forever, so does the earth praise you. The creatures that fill the oceans and land are attuned to their Maker. They praise you by their uniqueness and their testimony to your creative greatness. Man is the only creature who praises you in words and deeds. Man, whom you breathed the Spirit of life into and who is “made in your image.” Man should be the one on earth who most perfectly praises you, but instead man is the least obedient, the least praise-filled, the last to acknowledge you. We are a hard-headed and hard-hearted people! We flaunt the free will that you gave us at every opportunity. Only one man, one perfect being gave you perfect praise….Jesus Christ. You came as man to do what we can’t do…overcome sin and live perfectly in your will. What we can’t do…Christ did for us. In perfect love, he gave us the gift of forgiveness and eternal life…grace! How sweet the sound! Praise will arise from all mankind in response to grace! Praise will ring forth when our hearts feel your love and the peace of being in harmony with your will. Jesus shows us how. Emmanuel…God with us…is always present to fill our hearts and lips with praise. We are your temples and the Holy Spirit dwells within us. If we allow him to fill every corner we are at peace and praise swells “from the earth” through Jesus Christ our Savior! Thank you! Praise to your holy name forever, amen.
