~ Scraplifting ~

Happy Sunday! Its a lovely sunny day here so I'm taking the opportunity to photograph some of my recent layouts.

Now I'm not one to normally scrap lift other peoples layouts but I saw two striking pages created by ladies over on the Like For Ever Subscribers Facebook group and I knew their designs would fit my photos perfectly.

First up I used this page by Natalie Gibbons as my inspiration for a Vietnamese layout.

(Natalie's original page)

My page uses much brighter colours and I chose to use three black and white photos.

What I have enjoyed about this process is seeing how different a page can be because it has used different products and photos. I've used the June Like For Ever Kit 'In Bloom' for both my layouts and tried to embrace the bold colours. I've used this method of putting 3 6x4 portrait photos together across the page before but what struck me about Natalie's was the use of the cluster of frames in the bottom left corner.

I'm trying desperately to finish scrapbooking my Vietnam/Cambodia 2012 trip before heading off on our next adventure to Uzbekistan in September. I very much doubt I will get it finished but I will at least be closer.

The next layout I took inspiration from was this layered page by Christina Howard.

(Christina's Original Page)

I chose to use three photos instead of the single one on my page as I wanted to capture the different aspects of the story.

I already love layering paper & embellishments behind my photos but this took it to another level as there is just one area of decoration and a lot of white space. I love the concept and the final page but for me there needs to be a few more elements outside of the single cluster.

Again I used the Like For Ever 'In bloom' kit but I also added in the Ali Edwards 'Reading' story stamp set. It was also the stamp set that was the original inspiration for telling this story about how I decided to lay on the floor of our conservatory (before we had furniture) and read because the weather was so nice.

Thanks for reading.

~ New Home ~

It's over 9 months since we moved in to our new house and I realised that I haven't actually documented the move. It all happened very quickly and just before Christmas. We made the decision to move in to a new build and part exchanged my house. This meant that we moved in 2 weeks later on the 19th December. I found it so stressful as we also went to Berlin for 5 days in that 2 week period.

I knew as soon as I saw this patterned paper with the houses on it that I wanted to use it to scrap this photo. I'm really pleased with how it turned out especially the kraft corrugated thickers as I was worried they weren't going to show up against the busy background. The cute little house paperclip is oh so cute!

~ Wall decore ~

I have finally gotten round to updating my decorative frames since moving in a few weeks ago. Didn't reslly want lots of photos of myself around the place so I decided to use holiday snaps for these layouts, even though I have scrapped my tigers numerous times!

I couldn't decide whether or not to put titles on them but decided they looked unfinished without. 'A walk on the wild side' was created using the Scrapagogo March kit, which I think has been my favourite so far. Really versatile. I justadded a couple of extra embellishments from my Tim Holtz collection.

'A little fall of rain' is again created with another Scrapagogo kit but one from a long while ago. I'm really trying to use up some of my stash mountain. I love this photo as it is the Taj Mahal in the rain, stunning even in a monsoon!

Both layouts are quite simple but I didn't want too much as they are going on the wall in my living room. I have a few more frames to jazz up over the next few months.

~ It's finally finished ... ~

... and just in the nick of time! Just long enough to fill the boxes ready for the first of December!

This embellishment was actually destined for our garland but I decided it would be perfect for my advent calendar and would actually tie it in to our Christmas decore very well. It was a piece I bought from Hobbycraft to add to our Marks and Spencer Garland. I think it was only 99p ... a bargain! I simply trimmed the wire stalk with my clippers and stuck it in place with some silicone glue.

This week has been so hectic! I had 2 lunch dates, a coffee morning, a day of shopping and my first Christmas meal of the season. I doubt next week will be any better as I need to get my homemade xmas pressies made and decorated.

~ Altered Clock ~

This altered clock now adorns the wall above my desk in the craft room. I had completely forgot I had bought this Kaisercraft Beyond the page clock kit at a show. It was unearthed during my house move so I used up an old Cleo Crafts kit containing 'Flights of Fancy' papers.

I firstly painted the base with white acrylic paint (I gave it 2 coats). Then I marked the base with the spaces in the frame and covered them with patterned paper. I added some butterflys, buttons and ribbon. I also made a couple of paper roses and attached them. Finally I added some brown Prima Numbers left from an alphabet used at the Gogogetaway last March.

Today has so far not seen any crafting but I'm wondering if I might sneak an hour shortly depending on how the kittens behave.

~ New House with Craft Room! ~

Well here we go as promised, an update on how the house move and settling in has gone. When I look back at the photos from before we moved I can't believe how much more 'lived in' it looks.

We have mainly added colourful accessories to brighten the cream rooms up.
Living Room

We have added lots of lime green to counteract the dark brown furniture.

Kitchen

I love my kitchen! Can't wait to get the range cooker from my boyfriend's dad's when he moves. There have already been lots of lovely meals cooked for friends, with many more planned!

Dining Room

I really like how its a kitchen diner it gives a good social atmosphere when having friends over.

Conservatory

The games room. This is home to our playstation 3 and wii. Its a lovely room off the dinign room which thankfully doesn't get too much sun!

Spare Bedroom

This is the only room we have completely painted as when the previous owners sold the house they removed a pink boreder from the top of the walls wwhich pulled some of the paint off. I'm really pleased with the final effect.

Master Bedroom

Now this is our bedroom which is at the front of the house. It does get quite warm but the blinds are a godsend. I'm really surprised my boyfriend agreed when I said I wanted to go purple! But I love it!

Craft Room

I absolutely love this room and it has given me lots more storage for my crafty stash. Am just waiting for some storage inserts for the expedit unit then it will almost be complete!

Garden

There is a fantastic sized garden with a huge patio to the side which will be great for summer BBQs. Doesn't really need much work at the moment, just a few bushes trimming back.

All in all we have really fell on our feet with this house and it definately looks like we've been here longer than 4 weeks!

Happy viewing!
