Something Wonderful, how to make this mini album tutorial by Cheri Piles

Hey everyone, How about a free little mini album class today on how to create this book??? Yeah, I thought you might like it!

Here are the supplies you will need for this book:
Papers: Alpha, The Story, Geometric, Black wood, Black stripes, Alpha Print,  Floral, Cards.
Embellishments: Chipboard, photo overlays, wood, brads, decorative tape.

To prep for your book, pull your wood pieces out and paint them and set aside to dry. I used the numbers, heart, wonderful  & Love deeply: painted red. Story time I painted black.

This diagram shows you how to cut and fold your papers to create all of your base pages. You can right click on it, save picture as and print it out. Cut all of your pages as shown, corner round outside right corners. Then put them in page order - Cover: The Story, pg 2 - Alpha's side down, pg 3 - Alpha print, pg 4 - Floral, pg 5 - Black stripes down, pg 6 wood grain down, pg 7 geometric and back cover. All of your pages you will fold on left side 1/2" and adhere them together creating your spine, page 2 and 7 you will center on your page (one inch from top and bottom).

On the cover I added my wood numbers 3/4" from bottom using the clear adhesive from the Teresa Collins adhesive kit from Xyron. Chipboard: Something Wonderful, snapshots. I added the "YOU" brad using a foam square from the Teresa Collins Adhesive kit from Xyron. I added a little bling and flower from my stash.

Create a grouping using brads and a chipboard tag on the inside cover. Cut the "Live laugh love" quote from the cards paper, corner round all corners and add to the front of the flap on page two.

Add your photo to the inside of the flap. Add a small brad to the center of the photo overlay flower and adhere your overlay to your photo using the clear adhesive from the TC adhesive kit from Xyron. (I used the clear adhesive on all of my overlays - I love it!!!) Cut the "&" from your cards and corner round all the corners, Add "I love this" from your chipboard in upper right corner, add brad just under then adhere entire card to your inside flap.
Add the heart brad to center of chipboard banner and add to upper left of back of page two. Add the black and white chipboard scalloped border to your flap. Adhere your photo to your page, add the Wonderful You photo overlay over your photo. Add some tape to the left of your page. Add the bingo chipboard banner between your fold and the tape even with the top of the alpha page.
Add a photo center on your left page. Add tape above and below your photo. Add "wonderful" chipboard word to center left of tape above photo. On the front right of flap cut the center borders from the cards paper 4"l x 5"w and adhere to center of flap. Add tape to top and bottom of borders. Add "happy" brad to center of "reel" chipboard. Adhere to page with right side overlapping (use powder to "unstick" the part that is overhanging the edge.)

Punch a half circle out of center of wood grain paper and adhere to floral paper creating a pocket. Add the wood heart and "wonderful" wood word to front of pocket. Tags: Words paper - creat tag, cut "notes" card out from cards paper and adhere to upper left of tag, add chipboard camera tag to tag hole, add "map" brad to center of tag hole. Striped tag: Add "today" card from cards paper to upper left of tag. Add doted chipboard tag to center of tag hole and add the camera brad to center of tag.  Add photo to inside right of flap, add tape to left of photo.

Add brads to chipboard ticket holes and add to upper left of left page. Add photo under the chipboard ticket. Add "documented" chipboard word to upper left of photo. Corner round right side of  yellow chevron chipboard and add to front flap of right page. Add photo under first row of squares, add photo overlay "love deeply, laugh out lot, live passionately" to your photo.

Add photo to center of left page. Add "this is something wonderful" chipboard to upper left of photo. Add small black brad to center of floral chipboard and adhere, overlapping word strip using foam squares. Cut 5" x 4" from center border strips and adhere to center front of flap on right side with hearts side up. Add 4" x 3 1/2" photo to right of hearts paper. Trim "Be happy" photo overlay to size and adhere over photo. Add "right now" chipboard to upper right of flap. Add "wonderful" chipboard under left of photo. Over lap "&" chipboard circle using foam squares over bottom left creating a grouping.

Punch a half circle in center of floral paper to create a pocket. Add "Memory, tag" brad to upper right of pocket. Add "Love" chipboard overlapping tag and then adhere floral paper creating a pocket to your striped page. Adhere "story time" wood to upper left of page. TAGS: Geometric paper add today card to upper left of tag, add layered circles brad to center of tag hole. Dotted paper add "the story" card to upper left of tag, add striped chipboard to center of tag hole, add yellow brad to center of tag. Add photo to inside right flap, add tape to left of photo.

Add photo even with the next page - I love this look how it makes the page look even longer with the flap from the next page!! Add "this photo" chipboard to upper left of page.

Add brad to center of card "Wake up... " corner round corners and adhere to front flap. Adhere "NO.1" chipboard banner even with top of this page to the back page.

Corner round paint chip card, add black and white brad to lower right of card and adhere card to inside flap. Adhere "love deeply" wood piece to top of card.  Adhere photo to page. Trim and adhere geometric photo overlay to fit over photo.

I hope you enjoyed the book and are inspired to create one of your very own. I love creating fun little mini books like this using this binding technique. You don't need rings or coils and it just adds a little something different to your collection.

Have a great week!! ~Cheri

Noted Mini by Yvonne Blair

Hi everyone!
I am so excited to be here today and share with you a mini I made using Teresa Collins New Urban Market Collection.  Can I first say I am totally in love with this line!
It is over the top fabulous.
The colors, the patterns, the designs...oh did she hit this one OUT OF THE PARK!!!
I know it just started shipping so make sure your local scrapbook stores don't miss out on this collection!!!

To create this album I used mailers I found at the Dollar Tree.  I bought two packages to have a nice mini foundation.  I hinged them together using a priority mail envelope that is made from Tyvek.
It is really strong stuff and makes perfect hinges.
The lovely thing about using the mailers is that you can create instant pockets!
I cut the end of each mailer so they formed a pocket, attached the hinges and then was ready to decorate!

Of course I used my handy dandy Teresa Collins Mega Runner. It is fabulously strong adhesive and really holds the guts of the book together just the way it needs to be.

Each insert into the end pocket has a flap for added interest.
It really becomes an interactive book.

Next the fun stuff! The decorating!
Isn't this paper just scruptious?
It is so very hard to find any collection that offers this beautiful Navy blue color!!!
(insert a little bit of squealing!)
This is one of the flaps, that also pulls completely out so as to have a place for hidden journaling or extra pictures.  Choose the best to share out in the main page and then include the rest in the pocket.
I always have some pics that I want to include by not be quite "there" so to speak.

 More flappers! hehehe

On this page I created an extra flap with one of the decorative tags from the line.
I just folded down the top and adhered it to the back of a piece of black cardstock.
Now I can include up to three pictures in this one spot....or a little extra journaling.
Easy peasy album.
And one that you could use as the perfect Mother's day gift for your sister, mom, grandmother or any special woman in your life!
Hope you enjoyed.
Be sure to get Urban Market...I promise you will LOVE it!!!
Until next time!!!

Take Note journal using Daily Stories collection with Cheri Piles

Hey There, I wanted to share another booth sample I created for the show - CHA. I almost forgot to share this one with you all!! This is a fun one because I used the reverse binding technique on the spine. I also used the modeling paste with the stencil that has the days of the week! Modeling Paste is so much fun! Once the modeling paste dried, I applied ink over the top - you could use a pen, or paint. You can even tint the paste before you apply it. My daughter just LOVES this book and is using it, which means I will have to make another one for me!

On each of the pages I outlined them in black ink just using a fine tip pen. I also painted all of the edges in white. I really like all of the texture in this book! The first page are two tags from the "remember" paper, and I tied white ribbon onto them.

I created all of the pages in this book just using basic templates I had on hand. The white paper is Bazzill card stock and it has a Pearl sheen on it. I loved using the washi tapes and stamps on these pages.

On the upper left is one of my favorite stamps from the collection - Remember Always, I love the fonts and how crisp and fresh it looks!

Here are two more journal cards, I just cut them down to fit in the book. I love having different page sizes and flaps in my books!

I wanted to have a spot to put items so I used the new Basically Essentials envelopes and manila tags. I wanted them to have more texture so I ran them through the TC Ebosser using the clocks embossing folder then I adhered ribbon to the back before adhering it to the page. Now it will stay closed when the ribbon is tied and I think it looks pretty!

I am all about circles lately so a lot of my books have half circle pages! I just think they are fun and add interest to the book when you see it all closed up seeing all of the fun shaped pages!

I love these stripes on the back of the butterfly paper! This is another tag from the new "tags" package - There are so many to choose from and I am loving playing with them!!

Aren't the journal cards fun?!? I love how bright they are!

Oh, this is a fun little envelope page that fold out, it's from the mini file folder package. It is so SWEET!!!

More tags! Yes, I LOVE them!!

Here is another bag from the new basically essentials envelopes and tags package. I put it through the TC Ebosser just like the other one to add more texture to my book. I'm always so impressed how deep the embossing is and how pretty it is!!

Clearly I also love this stamp set!! I have used the heck out of it that is for sure!!

This is my daughters FAVORITE paper - when she saw the pretty scallops with the bright fun colors she actually asked me to buy packages of just that pattern, she wanted to decorate a wall in her room with it!!

I punched a lot of the circles out of the "circles" paper - this is a great technique to use by punching them out and putting them on pop dots you are creating extra embellishments you may not have. I always look for extra ways I can use paper like that!

I hope you are inspired and enjoyed this fun little book!
If you are looking for how I binded it, here is the tutorial: Reverse Binding. For today's book, I used chipboard on my cover and scored it then covered it with my papers.

Everyday Life mini-album by Yvonne

It's me Yvonne and I am so excited to be here today to share this album with you.
Let me start of with a little back history.  I was in Hobby Lobby browsing around and I saw this stand.
It was funky colors, but the bones where...well I heard angel singing, hehehe.
I knew as soon as I saw it I would paint it and it would  make a very special piece.
I just didn't know what papers I would use yet.
Then...I received my box of Teresa Collins Products for CHA and I knew.
As soon as I saw Hello My Name Is...I knew.
Goose bumps I tell you, lol.
Yep it really happened...have you ever had that?
The first thing I did was paint the stand a color to match the paper line.
I then covered the main part with the beautiful damask decorative paper.
Oh, let me tell you this line just sings to me as I'm working.
I then measured the "clip" area.
Then it was time for the bones of the mini album.
It just clips in so that whoever wound like to look at it just has to unclip and flip, wink.

Don't you just think this makes a fabulous statement!
Home decor mixed with a mini album...I think it made me a little to giddy!

Here is the view of the album off the stand.
The album itself is just my traditional back to back album.  You just want to fold your pages,
and then adhere them back to back.  The beauty of it being on the stand is that if I want to I can keep adding pages.  Ha...fun right!
I thought it would be fun to have sections to the mini, so that is where the tabs come into play.
This is a book that would be fabulous for you to do with any member of your family.
It's so fun to have these types of mini's so you can see how different things are in years to come.
Great for showing the changes we all go through.
These Polaroid frames are great for Instagram pics.
I just cut the sheet of them apart so I could use them individually.
I made this album for a friend so I left the pictures slots open for her to add her things in.
Needless to say, I will be buying more of these stands...I think they will make great Christmas gifts...Ugh..did I just say the C word? LOL.

The book itself isn't too bulky yet, but when all the pieces and parts get added it will be a piece of chunky heaven. Love seeing books chunky and full of memories.  It's the best to see something you create being filled with things that will become cherished memories of the future.
I hope you enjoyed today's album.  It truly is a work of love and inspiration!
I hope that it will inspire you to look at something in a whole new light and be inspired to create the unexpected!
Have a great week!

Cigar Box Mini Album By Yvonne

Hello everyone! So excited to be back and show you this mini album using a cigar box.
I have wanted to do an album in a box for awhile, but couldn't quite get the thoughts together in my head.
Then this cigar box found it's way to me and I knew this was it!
I thought it would be nice to have something that can sit on the coffee table that has the unexpected inside.
So here it is!

While constructing it I knew I wanted it to be something that could sit closed or open and catch someone's attention. Once you ope up the box you will find an ease; album as well as a place to clip information.

This is one of the file folders clipped to the inside top of the box.  It can be pulled out and sentiments or journaling not for all eyes can be added. This book is for my daughter and I wanted to give her places to include her own handwriting.

Below I will go page by page on the easel side of the box.  I measured the inside of the box and cut a piece of chipboard that was an inch smaller on the sides and top and bottom.  This way it would fit nicely in the box. I then covered the front of the chipboard with Save the Date papers.  I attached the binding mechinism and then covered the back side.  This way the brads will be hidden.  I attached an easel to the back as well so that it can sit seperately from the box.
Save the Date papers where perfect to use with the love theme.  No..they are not engaged, but have been together FOUR years.  They are really focused on school right now.
It was so fun to be able to add little extras like the decorative tags in this line.
Makes it very interactive!
They Decorative wood pieces are one my my favorite new pieces Teresa added to her lines! They give fabulous dimension while not making it to thick at the same time.
Of course the TC eBosser was used throughout the book.  Love using it in unexpected places as well as for pages themselves.
Here I just cut one of the 3 x 4 cards to give her some added journaling space.
A pocket was included on this page to keep a little piece of ephemera or whatever she wants to stick inside.
Below a closer look at the top of the box.  I used My TC Mega Runner to adhere the paper to the top of the box and sealed it off with some Studio Matte Medium.  Then added so three dimensional embellishments to make it a little more fun!

I really hope you enjoyed my little "LOVE" mini album in a box.  Hopefully it will inspire you to look at something you have had around in a different light.
Thanks for stopping by!
