Thursday, April 14, 2011 Last night I went for penitential service and had a most enlightening confession. After I listed out my sins, I expected the priest to launch into the usual, general mini speech, about forgiving and repenting etc etc. Instead, the priest looked at me and asked, "how old are you?" Stunned, and momentarily forgetting my age, I cautiously replied, "twenty... four.." He then stated, "It is important for you to find your vocation." This is kind of old news for me I guess, but somehow.. He totally hit the nail on the head. He went on to explain why it was important to find it, which did add on to the whole "right on the money" feeling. It did make sense as he highlighted the spiritual and somewhat social elements, and was rather elucidating. I was so taken, that as he continued, I didn't know what to say and what to think. Maybe he deduced from my age, but for one of the few times in confession.. it seemed that God was really talking to me through him. To top it off, for my penance, instead of the usual prayers, he told me to recite the Catena. Of all people, to an ex-Legionary huh, hahaha. A way to reflect and emulate Mother Mary, who made herself small, and cared so much for others. Somehow, it has stirred me, to ponder about this question on a whole new level. I have much to think about. | |
