The Importance of Breakfast

The Importance of Breakfast

Dad is so funny :P

We were having breakfast this morning. I had already eaten a doughnut (donut?) and a slice of walnut bread, and was wondering whether to have a ham sandwich. Dad then said "Don't think. Just eat!" Then he went on to emphasise the importance of breakfast, and how it's brain food. He concluded it with a flourish,

"No Breakfast, NO BRAIN!"

I laughed and laughed (:

Balance.

Balance.

It's true. The key to everything is life, is balance.

I've been rather overwhelmed since school started. I thought seminars are just big tutorials, but really the material we deal with, you have to read to be in the loop. Simultaneously, going out with friends and finding out more about them (: It's so strange, that just a few months ago I was actually wasting time, and now everything decided to bombard together.

It made me think about how I'm going to handle this semester. (thinking in the shower! :P) Plus, other things I want to do. Like running, playing guitar, learning drums. It's all about balance and managing everything. I think it'll be hard.. but.. do-able. No more being lazy. (so I say now. HAHA.)

I'm looking for a song - it's one of my favourites. Waiting by Sugar Ray. Please send to me if you have it! Many thanks (:

Keep moving forward.

I love Pixar Disney movies (:

I love Pixar Disney movies (:

I love Pixar Disney movies (: I honestly think that when I'm older, like in my fifties or so, I'll still be watching them in the theatres :D I remember thinking about cartoon movies and asking myself, "am I too old for this?". but heck man! They're good stuff and make people laugh - and I love to laugh (:

They're so brightly coloured, hilarious.. most of all, the message brought across can be so simple, yet so deep and insightful. Love it :D

I would think it's a lot of work though. I saw the making of Incredibles on dvd, and the Pixar HQ is HUGE!! and super fun, cos they go around in those automated vehicles where you stand and control the machine, they don't have to dress office wear style and they always seem to be at play (: It also too ideal a workplace. Makes me think whether I should have done animation, HAHA :P

However, it makes me wonder how do they keep their spirits up.. moreover, the pressure to be creative must be quite overwhelming. After all.. the video shows only what the videomaker chooses to be seen, aye? ;) Kinda like life.. what you make of it..

Catch the movie Up! It's fantastic (: Really happy that they thought this one out (:

The Monster Chiffon Cake!

The Monster Chiffon Cake!

Today I thought I won't be so lazy and do something productive. Hence, I tried to bake a chiffon cake. I got the recipe from my aunt, and I have been putting it off for quite a while.

Baking is quite easy, which is why I love it. You just throw things in their right amounts and you should have something decent.

so I thought.

This chiffon cake is positively the worst thing I have ever baked in my life!! For one, when it rose, it literally was a monster cake!!! It looked like it was trying to spread over the pan and take control. Later, when i left it cool, it deflated in minutes, back to the original height it was before.

The outside looked yummy and crispy. Sadly.. only its skin was decent. It was GREY inside. So much for chocolate flavouring. Moreover.. it's like an extra thick version of the Hokkien yam cake. When I cut a piece.. it wasn't a slice at all.. more like a slab.

Verdict: Too little flour, too many eggs. The smell of eggs was pungent when I first cut the cake. This is the first pastry I've made, that went straight into the bin.

Sadz. But it was fun! especially seeing my sister's reactions, kekez.. (: This goes in the Category of Round 2, where home-made ice cream sits too. Procrastination ;)

heartfelt music

heartfelt music

Seeing that my hair's wet, I decided to go radio-website-hopping, in an attempt to find new songs. I found a few, which are a little weird.

Like Owl City's Fireflies, which is quite trance-like and rhymes. and makes you reflect whether he's talking about fireflies or the disco ball. Or Oasis's Falling Down, which is a bit worrying for some reason. Justin Bieber's One Time sounds like puppy love in a candyland.

I think Music in this era is truly scattered. Perhaps it reflects our lifestyle. Where we live in the moment, and we are quick to switch. I mean.. like, the latest pop hits, they have a great tune and a good beat.. during the song itself. I don't really find myself thinking about most of them afterwards. Except the occasional like Lily Allen's The Fear.

Maybe I'm just generalising. Then again, maybe Lady Gaga's Just Dance is a most apt description.

I still like the 90s best. Where songs were honest, lyrics had meaning and music was heartfelt.
