Pluggin' into: My Hero by Foo Fighters

Readings readings readings. Oh man, I have to get down to it. Instead, I've been watching bro play Oblivion on Xbox. Watching him is such entertainment, heh heh :P

School has been draining. Combined with the unpredictable weather.. man, it's such a drag. I just wanna stay home and sleep.

I've been feeling very.. out of it lately. Lethargic.. a tad sensitive.. thinking irrationally. I'm guessing it's because of school, combined with a lot of unforeseen factors. At least it makes me aware that I've a brain and it's working, rofl. By the way.. If I don't make sense, I apologise in advance.

Thanks Char & Auddie for yummy lunches and desserts :) Thanks Char, Selina, Jojo, Wing and Dong for a fantastic time at Minds Cafe - taboo always rocks. I feel abs coming up now :P

This is to my friend, Johanna. I know this is super late, and it should be in the 18th August post (before ur bday!), rather than this.. but it doesn't feel right to lie. Plus, you prolly won't read it unless it's the latest post, aye? :P HAPPY 20th BIRTHDAY JO [belated!]!!! :D :D :D Cheer up k! We'll be hanging real soon!!! ;)

Pluggin' into: Wake up and Pay Attention from Sister Act 2
[Not exact title though..]

I just came back from bowling, dinner and billards with a few of my church friends. After witnessing an incident with one of my friend's friend, it really made an impression on me. How a teenager is capable of such angst, violence, rage.. betrayal, sadness and confusion.. and the vital importance of family and friends. We take for granted their critical roles.. instead, lashing at them, causing them worry and suffering all for the sake of one's selfish thoughts and indulgence.

Tonight, I learnt about my friend and what he went through.. and what he did to prevent another 'him' from unraveling. I saw the extent my friends went to ensure this guy goes home safely.. and I wonder, what holds me back. Perhaps.. though the rational side of me thinks, "this fella's not acting his age. He's being childish.. is he really 17?", the emotional side of me kinda empathises with him.

Today at lunch with Syl and Ser, we were just talking about raging hormones and teenage angst. I just remembered.. I used to punch the walls in the shower. Guess my teenage years weren't so smooth after all, heh heh :P

On a happier note.. here's a recap on the week :)

Monday:

I went to play badminton with Char, Auddie and Ming de. I feel much healthier.. glad that we're playing once a week :) It's not only good exercise.. but man, the things we do! SUPER FUNNY LA!!! Like how char's shots somehow always accurately target auddie! Poor gal got attacked so many times, even when we changed positions, lol! :P Not to mention when Auddie served and I went "where's the shuttle?" A few seconds later.. it fell, smack in the middle, on my head. Omg.. now I know what gravity does. Cartoon lorz, hwahahahahahahaaa!!!!

Tuesday + Wednesday:

This was one of the chiong days of my life! In the evening, my sister and I worked on our parents' anniversary present. After much effort, we put the final piece on my parents' bed. Later that night they rang my hp - they loved it :)

After making all preparations, Ser, Syl, Ali and I met at Toa Payoh Bus interchange. All things went smoothly till we arrived at her house gate:

"eh, is her gate green?"
"Is this her house?"
"Did we go to the wrong floor"

Then, the moment of truth:

"CORRECT!!! THE CHARCOAL POT IS THERE!!!" :P

The twerp was expecting us, esp. since I made that pathetic phone call, lol :D After some catching up, rushing to the void deck and overcoming some 'black cat troubles', we eventually were able to do a bday countdown with her. After which, we gave her her presents and returned to her house, to talk and play sleeping queens [fantastic card game! :)]

The next day, we gave her her very own mini quest: treasure hunt in her very own home! It was full of torture, laughs, quite a few improvisations and more laughter :) I treasure these times we have together, loads. With that.. Happy 20th Birthday, HL! :D

By e way, HL is the one who painted my toenails black and white! She's super zhai manz! :)

Thursday:

After lecture, Char, Auddie and I went to have some New Zealand ice cream at YIH. Since it was so freaking hot, I ordered a Mint Choc Shake. FYI, 1 milkshare = 3 scoops of ice cream. I only remembered when I watched the woman take scoop after scoop. Nonetheless.. it was really worth it :) Auddie ordered a cookies&cream coffee and Char had a single scoop of Hokey pokey. Yumz... :)

Char and I then met up with Tokkie for lunch. We ate at Munchie Monkeys! Pizza + mushroom pasta + calamari + italian choc cake + choc cake = mmmmmmmmmm :) It was great catching up with tokkie - YAYNESS!!! :D

Friday:

No Child & Youth lect, so after Logic lect, Char and I went to PS for makan at Tcc and teacher's day presents shopping. TCC HAS NEW MENU, WOO HOO!!!! :D :D :D Jojo, I got ur receipt! ;) Time to raid Tcc, heh heh.. next month, when $ comes in :P

Later, I met up with my NUS friends - Moretta, TK, Wes, Ivan - for bowling at Marina Square. Man.. the sound of pins falling and bowling balls whirring by, brings back memories and a real sweet feeling. Too bad my game sucks now, haish.. perhaps I should bring my ball out again, hmmmmm... One thing's for sure - we were super lame la, rofl!!! Man.. I think I laughed more than I bowled in that day, hwahahahahahaaa!!! :D

After 2 games, the guys went off back to school, whereas I had dinner with Moretta at Billy Bombers. We had cookies&cream milkshakes!!! YUMMY :D :D :D We found out that we like a lot of the same food and that our taste are very similar!!! Food expedition on the way, woo hoo!!! :D I felt that this friendship is growing a bit more and it felt rather nice :)

Later that night, I met up with Wing for supper.. or, more like ice cream :P She had green tea, whereas I had hazelnut from haato. We then moved onto Mac's, where Wing ate fries. Aside from ka-chaoing her [the bird is fun to disturb! :P Kidding la.. ;)], we had quite a nice chat :) It was good to catch up with you gal!! And no worries - u're better than the French!!! :D

Saturday:

I set my personal record today - I woke up at 1.30pm. I couldn't believe it myself. Just like that, half the day is gone. It's so fast, it's almost scary, rofl.

Since Wing can't get enough of me [heh heh! :P], she came over to my house to watch Derek Zoolander. It's such a funny show - I can't get enough of it, hwahahahahahahaaa!!! :D :D :D

At about 6pm, I went to gardens to meet up with Jensen for dinner. 'Twas good to catch up with him.. that lucky ass is taking both car and motorbike license. When I'm older and I have enough money, I might consider learning bike :) It might take a while though, hmmmmmmzzz.. :P

Anywayz, whilst we were walking to Mac's to get ice cream [in the end, the stupid machine was spolit, so we got ice cream from 7eleven], I saw a familiar person at the bus-stop. I looked at her, smiling, walked right up to her, and smacked her with my wallet. Her face was priceless! Next thing I knew..

"SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!"

Andrea rocks the world manz :D So there we were, 2 psycho girls screaming and hugging each other in front of a bus-stop at 7plus pm. It was so good to see her! Apparently she was out makan-ing with her friends in gardens! Gardens rules! :D

At 8pm, Jensen had to go off cos he rode his bicycle and had to beat the rain home, so I called Wing and crashed her place! [see.. I can't get enough of you too, HAHA :P] Bought Sashimi salad from Sushi Tei for her - It's THE BOMB!!! :D :D :D We watched that Star talent show on Channel U. Omg.. Shawn is SO CUTE!!! Esp. when he smiles!!! No wonder this 13 year old boy won in the end, heh heh!!! :D YAYNESS!!! :D :D :D [shuddup, wing and jo! :P]

Sunday:

It was only when I got up, that I realised i'm the only one going for mass. Anywayz, I drove to church and sat with Gen. During the homily, they gave out the Catholic Consensus - it's basically a survey. It was quite interesting.. I made a hole on my last qn though. Ah wellz.. :P

My family and I then went to eat at Soup Kitchen in United Square. Beggar ribs, woo hoo!!! :D :D :D I love my family man.. I couldn't stop laughing :) I should make more time to spend at home.. esp. family dinners. Have to take note of that.

Today:

After lect, I met up with Syl and Ser - we had lunch at engineering. Haha, perhaps we should meet up once every fortnight ;) We're arranging for teacher's day visitation - I prolly have to look at all our timetables soon.

Next, I went for Logic tutorial. Initially.. I thought I would be intimidated. It was quite a surprise to find that out perhaps, philo tutorials aren't that scary after all. Furthermore, the tutorial class was bigger than I expected and that the tutor cum lecturer is a super funky guy - I love his brown jacket and his faded used navy converse shoes :)

Char and I then headed down to CJC, for an early teacher's day visit! :D It was truly a walk down memory lane. We even felt the same trepidation upon seeing Mr. Michael Tan, Ms. Zali (is that her name? the malay teacher) and Brother Paul! Along the way, we met Mr. Issac Lim, Mr. Tan Jek Suan, Mr. Leong, Mr. Tan lao shi and Mr. Lim! However, we didn't find any teachers we wanted to see - turns out that this week is prelims week! Man.. we're too accustomed to NUS time -_- It's ok gal! We'll get them next time!!! :D

I feel real blessed to have the ability to enjoy good food (as moretta said ;)) and the privilege of laughing. Yes.. I feel so honoured to have people to laugh with =) Thanks one and all!

All right then. Time to get down to some work. Hairspray tmr with Char and Jojo! I can't wait :)

Pluggin' into: Shut up and Drive by Rihana
[Thanks Hui Luan! :)]

I kinda started tidying my room. It's a bittersweet feel - I feel happy and proud that I actually started tidying, but the reason I did was cos since sch has started, I have to get down to studying and I can't really study in a super messy room. That reason alone is quite horrid.

I went kbox with the cj girls. It felt really good.. we haven't done it in quite a while, lol! :D We definitely have to do it more often!!! :) Perhaps next time, I can stay out longer - we'll see ;) Looking forward to the next time we hang, woo hoo!!!!! :D :D :D

By the way, it was the first time I watched JJ Lin's Killer Mtv video.. I was quite irked. It didn't help that the next day when I met Serene in school, she told me the uncensored version, HAHA :P

Yesterday, I met up with the legion folks. I was late, haish.. [SORRY!!!] Anywayz, we ate at Ms Clarity's Cafe :) yum yum! I had this chicken ballotine.. it was really shiok :P After that, we decided to try and catch fireworks. I must say.. it was really fantastic :) We then chilled at Starbucks. I always laugh when I'm with you guys, rofl! =)

These days have been busy busy busy... drama drama drama :P

summer rain.

Pluggin' into: Lips of an Angel by Hinder

You know that kind of weather, where it's a sunny day, but it's raining crazily? Mum calls it Summer Rain. Initially.. I thought it was whack weather.

Today, I dashed out of the hse - I was late for dental. Yes, that weather occurred. It sucks because it's humid and it's irritating.

Then, on the bus.. I saw a really pretty sight. Cars dashed past.. but in their trails, there were rainbows :) [by e way.. rainbow has 7 letters and 7 colours. Cool huh? :D]

Also, I remembered yesterday.. I was looking at these metal bars at a bus-stop. I saw raindrops hitting it and light shinning through the scattered remains. I wished I took a photo of it.

A lot of things have happening lately. I'm not only saying this in the abstract sense.. but to each of us individually.

I guess to a certain extent, I miss being there.. being there to witness the happenings, to be close in promixity, to extend my hands and give a hug.. to catch my friend when she falls.. or to watch her fall in horror (at times in laughter too, lol :P) and rush to get her back up again.

Omg. This sounds almost like motherhood -_-

Anyway.. I just want to say to all my friends [no, i'm not nagging :P], that if there is anything.. know that I'm always here. To laugh or to cry, to talk crap or deep stuff, just hear each other's voices or hang around eating breakfast, lunch, dinner [am trying to come out for supper too! ;P]..

Cos the truth is, I wanna know more about you. I wanna be involved.. be part of your life. I wanna stay connected with you :)

To all who have done so already.. thanks so much for reaching out to me. It means a lot :)

It's an emo entry, but hey, it's my blog, my words, my heart.

You are beautiful :)
Saturday, August 11, 2007

I got this fantastic song from Ali (thanks ali! :D) By e way, pls send me the song! I love it :)

I would like to dedicate this to all my friends. You are beautiful - each and every one of ya :)

Beautiful Flower
by India Arie.

This is a song for every girl who's
Ever been through something she thought she couldn't make it through
I sing these words because
I was that girl too
Wanting something better than this
But who do I turn to

Now we're moving from the darkness into the light
This is the defining moment of our lives

'Cause you're beautiful like a flower
More valuable than a diamond
You are powerful like a fire
You can heal the world with your mind

There is nothing in the world that you cannot do
When you believe in you, who are beautiful
Yeah, you, who are brilliant
Yeah, you, who are powerful
Yeah, you, who are resilient

This is a song for every girl who
Feels like she is not special
'Cause she don't look like a supermodel Coke bottle
The next time the radio tells you to shake your moneymaker
Shake your head and tell them, tell them you're a leader

Now we're moving from the darkness into the light
This is the defining moment of our lives

'Cause you're beautiful like a flower
More valuable than a diamond
You are powerful like a fire
You can heal the world with your mind

There is nothing in the world that you cannot do
When you believe in you, who are beautiful
Yeah, you, who are brilliant
Yeah, you, who are powerful
Yeah, you, who are resilient

Yeah, you, who are beautiful
Yeah, you, who are brilliant
Yeah, you, who are powerful
Yeah, you, who are resilient

Yeah, you, this song is for you
Yeah, you, this song is for you
Yeah, you, this song is for you
Yeah, you, yeah, you
You are brilliant

Yeah, you, this song is for you.

This week! :)

Pluggin' into: Dead! by My Chemical Romance

School starts next week. Digusting...

This week has been quite fun-packed, heh heh :)

Monday:
I went to play badminton with Auddie and Char. Toa payoh is much cooler.. and bigger. We played mixed doubles with some guys.. my partner taught me how to smash. Time for practice! I love badminton :) After that, I drove both of them back home to chill and watch CORS, HAHA :P It was great fun, amidst all the suaning and evil laughter - BAHZ :P

Tuesday:
Hit the dentist, pluck out wisdom teeth. That day was.. whoa.

Wednesday:
Yesterday, I went out with Selina in town. We were supposed to watch Secrets, but it was packed everywhere. After all the mad rush to beat the clock, we just hung out. I haven't done that with her in a while, so it felt quite good.. I enjoyed myself :) Going to try again tmr, woo hoo!!! :D

I went to meet my church choir for a farewell dinner for my godbro. We went to this Meriditarrean restaurant.. called Ambrosia Cafe. The food was interesting.. I had this chicken khoresh, which is basically chicken curry and pita bread. It was quite good and very soft on the teeth :) It was a lounging kinda place, with low tables and cushions everywhere. Hence.. after dinner and all.. I fell asleep :P They wanted to hit One Nite Stand, but I buay ta han - I took a cab home.

Thursday:
Happy National Day! Haha.. I can't say that I'm the most patriotic.. but after coming back from London.. I must say, I do love Singapore a little bit more. Even though I couldn't understand what was that dumb red person (what is he supposed to symbolise???) and whatever he said as I watched the NDP on tv.. I thought the fireworks were pretty funky :)

Jo and I crashed Maria's place. We were supposed to watch dvds, but we ended up play Anti-Monopoly. It's a game that totally detest monopolists.. so if u're playing.. choose competitor. Still not bad a game though.. must be aggressive :P We managed to squeeze in one show - How to lose a guy in 10 days. Somehow.. it's still funny, haha :P

I'm excited about the coming days - it's good to meet up with friends :)

Horoscope.
Monday, August 06, 2007

Pluggin' into: Monkey Wrench by Foo Fighters

My mind has actually been whirring today. Yes.. whirring like some gadget on Turbo Speed.. in fact, my brain aches. Man.. I haven't done such intense multi-tasking in a while.

I confess. I do read horoscope.

Well.. I don't take it super seriously, but neither do I brush it aside. As corny as it sounds.. I do check my horoscope in the papers now and then. Though the possibility that there might be a horoscope team in the newspaper section that casually goes, "I feel.. Aries today. Unlucky day.. watch what you say.." and happily fabricates every sign.. I guess sometimes, they do make sense.

For example, for me, yesterday's horoscope applied today [I know.. weird right? I think it's all perspective :P] Something about not worrying for the moment and instead, be occupied with having a good time with everyone.

Usually, when I organise things.. One could say i'm extremely task orientated. I make sure the task is done.. and usually, most of the work ends up being mine. Hence, I get too preoccupied with finishing the task.. rather than interacting and having fun with everyone else. In a sense.. I always thought that it was expected of me.. to sacrifice my fun, so that others could enjoy instead. Putting it on paper.. it sounds a bit warped. Then again.. I would say, this is the most accurate expression.

Today, my good friend Syl told me something about leadership: that as a leader, one must, all the more, interact with people. One of the main points was ensuring everyone enjoys themselves i.e. EVERY ONE. Somehow.. it never dawned upon me in that way.

I'm reading a book called Sushi for Beginners. As enticing as the title sounds.. I'm getting bored with the storyline.

what's so wrong?
Saturday, August 04, 2007

I feel so angry. I charged into my room, immediately blasted music from my speakers and immersed myself in a book - Perfect Strangers by Robyn Sisman. Another world, with my favourite music. My escape.

Is it so wrong to make the effort to buy someone a present? Is it so wrong to plan and hold discussions over a gift, which is hopefully something the receipt likes, but is representative of the effort and love the giver has for him/ her?

Yes. Birthdays and Anniversarys will come every year - what's so wrong with celebrating it each time?

Prolly with that, comes piles of gifts. On a practical view, it's a total waste of money and time. So? Does love have to be practical?

Call me naive.. childish.. idealist. I'm not gonna change my stand on this one.

A Place called Here.
Friday, August 03, 2007

Pluggin' into: Surrender by Cheap Trick
[I'm listening to this song from my bro's room, heh heh]

My bro created this phrase, lol. I thought it was so funny, I had to put it down.

"Girls get angry, but Guys get even!!!"

:)

I just finished reading a book called A Place called Here by Cecelia Ahern. She's also the one who wrote P.S. I love you. [By e way, she looks really pretty!!! :D]

It was interesting.. talks about a persona who's obsessed with missing things and missing people and tries her best to find them. In the end, she finds them in, literally, a place called Here. Ironically, in this place, she realises what really matters and what's really missing.

I read till quite late this morning, cos I simply got real absorbed into the book. It is very thought-provoking. [Truth is, I've been sleeping real late cos I've been reading. What to do.. it's addictive ;)]

Bidding. My word..
